    This one of the best selling PHEV crossovers in the world...it took time to bring this to the US due to limited availability they couldn't supply the demand...Mitsubishi was smart with this model and is the only plug in with true off road capability

    • @kylesoler4139

      Plus everything else is more exotic.

    • @Littleathquakes

      this doesn’t have true off-road capability. its based on a crossover model.

    • @kylesoler4139
      @kylesoler4139 6 лет назад +2

      Of course it doesn't but it does most of what the average user will need it for. They have the Pajero Sport and Triton for propper offroading.

    Bought one a week ago and couldn't be happier. Great for hauling my two greyhounds and cruising around town I have yet to put gas in it. With federal and and state rebates get almost $8k back. Worth it depending on your need/lifestyle

      you only owned it a week , your word is shit. of course you will try to justify a bad purchase in your head.

      @@Foxontherun2 Why do you figure? 8 grand back, it ends up less $ than a gas powered high end model. I get a pretty good gauge of how much I like a car in 3 days of Driving.

    I really don't understand a lot of you naysayers.........When Mitsubishi had the full line up, (Galant, lancer, Motero/sport, Eclipse ect.) where tf were you??? Oh that's right, busy buying Ford's and Dodges that died before the 100k mark! Mitsubishi has always made solid vehicles with reliability to match. Their sales continue to rise each year and they aren't going ANYWHERE!

    Owned this car for about 7 months now in Canada. Brilliant vehicle - capable in the snow, amazing efficiency for a 1900kg AWD SUV. The only real issues is the phone app is a joke (WiFi based short range), the front storage compartments are little and the battery EV range can be a bit longer.

    • @msbgone
      @msbgone 6 лет назад

      how is acceleration in general on local commutes and then driving on the highway trying to pass and get up to speeds?

    • @Trades46
      @Trades46 6 лет назад +1

      In EV mode it has decent power for local commuting - learn how to drive economically and you'll almost ALWAYS exceed the rated 35km/21mi EV range - I average close to 45km. At highway speeds the battery drains quickly - use the Save button to activate hybrid mode & with the 2.0L engine running it would not have issues passing Semi trucks. Just don't expect Mustang beating acceleration.

    • @msbgone
      @msbgone 6 лет назад +1

      I have a Jeep Cherokee, I expect it to be a little slower overall as I have the V6, but everything else I think would just work better and I would not have to go to the gas station much. I only drive 15 miles to and from work. Any other driving I would not care if I used gas or not, but I still want to make sure the ride is smooth and I enjoy it. I will have to test drive it more when the time comes. I do not off road, but I live in cold weather most of the time so that is the other reason I may not want the PHEV. Thanks for your reply!!

    • @Trades46
      @Trades46 6 лет назад +1

      I live in Canada where every 6 months = snow. I taken delivery of the PHEV during February, a week prior to a massive snowstorm. Even on the less-than-ideal stock Toyo All seasons the PHEV does surprisingly well in the white stuff. Just don't try to off-road the PHEV and it does the road-going thing just fine. The car is very smooth due to the lack of gearbox & serenely quiet in EV mode - though the Mitsubishi 4B11 2.0L is a more dated design & does sound gruff when it is running, but thanks to it being a hybrid it will shut off at lights & auto-start-stop on hybrids are infinitely better than on a gasoline vehicle.
      Also the Outlander PHEV does have an electric heater - which you can run on a timer at home (provided you give it 240v Level 2 charging) that can pre-heat the car with the engine off in winter. Running the heater with the engine off takes a 1/3 hit to your EV range, but unlike some Hyundai/Kia products using the heater doesn't always fire up the gas engine.

      Thanks, really appreciate it!! I am in Chicago area. Any other advice or suggestions I am all ears... I have tried just about every PHEV and they all have one thing the other doesnt. I wish the Mits had cooled seats, seems like many do not. I do wish the hybrid mpg was higher as well. I like the Honda Clarity and Volt for the EV range, but they are not AWD and they are not SUV's. Thanks again!!

    Such a strange drivetrain. Ultra-niche. I still like the trucks and SUVs that Mitsubishi sells.....in Australia.

    • @toyotaprius79
      @toyotaprius79 6 лет назад

      And Europe..
      It's strange, but it's not far from the Voltec or Honda dual motor deliberations, which aren't far from the traditional Toyota hybrids.
      The odd part of the Outlander is how it's 190 something peak horsepower is only available over 85mph when everything is engaged running the wheels.

    This is the only vehicle in its price range that offers a useful plug-in range as well as some towing capability. I would have liked to have seen the EU tow capacity of 1500 Kg instead of the 1500 lb we get here, but it meets my needs and is a very comfortable ride.

      Kevron Harris honestly, it doesn't matter what they do at this point! American's in this generation have their minds up. Toyota and Honda are their go to Asian car makers. Even with higher prices, much higher interest rates, and the worst warranty around. American's no longer like variety like they did in the 80's and 90's. Everybody's programmed.....

      Never said it was. Currently they have a .6% American market share which makes them a rare sight. I miss seeing good Mitsubishi's on the road. The days when they had uniqueness and better style.The 3000GT, Eclipse and the EVO were great cars. Ok not so much for the 3000GT unless you had deep pockets for the VR4 and are able to keep up on the expenses for it. I had a Mighty Max (great, simple truck) and a Starion Turbo back in the day. I did buy one of their Air conditioners last year, its great. I wish they still made fun cars. It would be nice if they brought back the Pajero /Montero to the American market. They used to be pretty good. Much nicer trim and less crude engineering than the early Grand Cherokee's that were everywhere and was several thousand dollars cheaper for the top level trim. The rest of the industry upped their game and Mitsu didn't keep up and now they are crushed. At least they are pumping out countless engines for Hyundai. There used to be a day when the worst Mitsu was better than the best Hyundai. They are a sad shell of their former self.

      There is nothing at all wrong with the current cars. They just aren't the whiz bang modern car many expect. They are SOLID good cars, though. No one offers a better value than the Mirage either. I can pick up a Mirage for 10 grand OTD. They get over 45 mpg, are super reliable and have a long 10 yr 100k warranty. I would take a Mitsu over Nissan or even Kia.

      Mitsubishi will never leave the us in the same manner that Suzuki did, as Suzuki left because of GM mismanagement and GM taking their Intellectual property away from Suzuki after the bankruptcy , leaving Suzuki with no cars to sell in the US for US demands and tastes. They also had no dealer network after GM tanked Pontiac and basically would have to start from scratch with no product. None of this is the case for Mitsubishi, so keep wishing...

    It's a gimmick fail. Don't waste your money. How do I know you ask. I owned one for 3 years and regretted it within a month of buying it. Scan the owners groups and see the dramas owners are having with range loss and battery degradation. Also make sure to note the complete lack of dealer knowledge or support.

      That's actually the most affordable electric suvs out there. It's worth the money where most electric cars only have one electric motor and front wheel drive, this has two to give the only hybrid SUV With 4WD and it can still tow 1,500 pounds. Trust me, it's not expensive.

    I owned one for 3 years.....biggest heap of crap I've owned. Range at 70,000km plummeted to 25km and no, Mitsubishi will not acknowledge this. The car is a major fail, no good as an EV, no good as a Hybrid and utterly appalling as a car. I came to hate everything about it, couldn't sell it, or give it away. Eventually someone ran into it, writing it off. Happiest day of my life.
