- On this episode we drive into the ‘55 olds. Removing the front clip in preparation of body and motor removal.
We gage the condition of the body and frame and start creating ideas to evolve this into an early to mid 60s mild custom.

Stoked to see more of this Olds build! My dad brought home a 55 4dr Hardtop back in 1985, Coral Pink and White two-tone paint. I was 14 yo at the time. We worked on it together and it was ready to drive when I got my license at 16. I made some great memories in that car. The car is still in the family but it hasn't seen the road in a minute. Dad passed last year and I'm feeling the nudge to get the Olds back on the road.
When I first saw the car I thought instantly of the awesome legendary painter Larry Watson. And the yellow is a lot like the yellow used by the Australian company "POPE" Who made manual push mowers that didn't have motors in them. I'm currently restoring one and painted it that yellow and it was called "HAPPY" on the paint chart 👍👍
Can't wait to see what you do this is definitely my style build.
We are enjoying the car project. The spaghetti western music is also choice. Love your music as always! Happy New Year!
Happy new year!
Looking forward to the builds
Going to be a sweet build. looking to forward to following along. Cheers
What a time to be alive ... I can't wait
Very exciting - looking forward to this series as well as everything else. 👍👍😎👍👍
You and me both!
Looking forward to the builds Jordan, sounds like 2023 will be full on and a chop sounds good, hopefully you will be able to find the missing bits for the Olds without too much trouble but I think you will be sourcing most of them from back home as I doubt many were sold here back in the day. Cheers Greg
You’re right Greg! Will be doing a trip back to collect what we can
Nice very complete for the most part car❤
Looking forward to this build!
Cannot wait to watch the new build
Section it! Like Jack Stewart's Polynesian!! Four inches!!!
Have considered!
Hey mate.
Just recieved my midnight special T and the sticker was a nice surprise, thanks for that. The quality is awsome i will be lining up for a few more Ts i think..
Happy it arrived safe and sound! Now wear the hell out of it!
My first car was a 55 Olds. Painted it Porsche red. 4 door tho. Had 2 others for parts. Have fun they are fun cars. Just use good tires, I tried to see if there where tires on the roof. Still remember how the glass sounds as the body slowly cracks from the weight. Tried to rebuild but I was 16. But the memories of building it with dad where THE BEST.
Was looking forward to seeing episodes on this beast 👌🏼
Riding along for this journey.
My suggestion, Patina paint on body (as is) and freshen up the driveline and bling the chassis. fresh paint/ powder coat the chassis and freshen the bright work .
Fully refresh the interior and Dandylion/ Marigold paint on the dash and door tops white leather roll and tuck on seats.
Definitely a cool idea, but this is getting the full treatment
Very nice car to start with. Love this color. Can't wait to see more videos on this build. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friends. Fab On. Weld On. Keep Making. God Bless.
Thank you man! Means a lot! Looking forward on getting stuck into these
I always liked the look of the Olds in the movie W.W. and the Dixie Dancekings. It had a white roof, gold rear deck and quarters, and black front hood and fenders. I believe that one was a 57. Looking forward to the build. Thanks and we'll see you next time.
Gday that olds looks like the one that bad chad fixed up for his mate jimbo and chad built him a complete floor and rockers using 18 gauge and square tube . looking forward to watching this build . all the best big pete..
Watching you tow the Olds reminded me of when you and your dad towed home the Ford , that was hilarious. Looking forward to this build. 👊🏻
I’ve had the opportunity to purchase the RPU back too!
@@bennettscustomsco will you ?
This reminds me of my cousins 56 Olds when I was a pre teen in the early 60's. He had a 4 speed and had lowered it. Not sure was done to the Rocket but it was a runner. He wanted to chop it but got married and kids and had to sell. Beautiful two tone pastel green and cream. Diamond tuck interior to compliment the paint. Beautiful car and can't wait to see what you do to it.
That does sound nice! Hopefully this one will turn out similar!
The Buick tails will look sick
Iron trap garage may have what you need as far as a quarter panel and olds engine performance. They are on you tube, ebay, and Instagram. Great show.
GREAT VIDEO!!! GREAT BUILS!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!!
The Olds is a great opportunity to showcase your more cutting-edge design and build skills. Remember, the guys back in the day weren't recapturing a style from 60 years ago, they were blazing new trails in auto design., many of which were picked up by the mainstream industry. At a time in car development when we urgently need fresh ideas, you could set new boundaries with this machine. Cut loose, sit back and listen to some of your cool music tracks and let your wild brain rage!.
Spot on Julian!
Looking good, plenty going on.
Yes buick tail lights bubble skirts 3 inch top Watson style paint caddy front Bar french headlights and yes those Lincoln caps...
Yup that’s it!
I think the Olds might share its platform and floor pan with Buick and Cadillac. The Chevrolet and Pontiac are smaller, and as far as I know a Chevy floor pan won't fit an Olds 88.
I'll follow this project, it's got potential for sure. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the great info!
Hermoso auto Bennett....hermoso proyecto..espero ver los avances ...saludos desde buenos aires... argentina
Thank you!
A Carson top would be awesome👌
Look forward to seeing vids on the 55.
SPLENDID
I'm a vintage truck guy but really looking forward to see you work your magic on this 55 Olds.
Thanks Eric- were excited about this one.
Mate loving your chanel, really good to see some Aussie content 🙏🙏. I sent an email about your t-shirt run? Hopefully you'll get some more in soon. Really appreciate your time 👍🙏🙏
Thanks for supporting the channel mate! Means a lot
Jordan The 55 is going to very nice project
Sure hope so John!
That yellow 88 on your phone, looks like the one Ian Roussel built for his buddy, on Full Custom Garage,
a couple of years ago.
I think it actually might be!
I've got an original 50s era Oldsmobile clip on sun visor mirror I can send you. I found it in a 55 Pontiac I bought years ago. My current project is a 57 Catalina and it came with its own Pontiac branded mirror. Evidently it was a GM thing.
That project sounds awesome! Any chance you’d have some photos?

With a belly pan on the Midnight Special you should be able to lower the seat between the frame rails to set much lower.
I wish that was the case, no room for that
Most of your basic floor stampings should be the same as a Chevy except for some extra weld on brackets and roof , front glass as well , Glass for Classics at Narang on the Gold Coast in Queensland should be able to help you with the glass or know where to get it , there's a place called Ponti world in Sydney that might stock a complete floor stamping and could have other parts you may need , I wish you the best in your build , I'll be looking forward to following it , cheers .
cool last name, im doing a 57 ford fairlane here in the states.
Looking forward to some photos!
I think you will find the floors are way different in chevys, pedals are in the floor in olds and on the firewall on chevys. There is a conversion kit to move the pedals to the firewall.
From 1955 to 1957 Oldsmobile and Buick body parts interchange for the most part. 1955 through 1957 Chevy and Pontiac's have a smaller body and frame which will not work on your Oldsmobile. Good luck, 1955 Olds have a lot of one year only trim and it gets expensive quick.
You’re right! The hunt for trim will continue!
B.O.P. Buick, Olds, Pontiac are all the same from 55 for floor pans maybe Caddie too. Only floor pans on ebay. Quater panels not available. Scrap yard or hammer!
Thanks for the great info!
Hard to improve on the car's original look. How about re chroming the original bumpers? Can't wait to follow this project.
There will be lots of chroming
The whole 'rodayo' thing came from US movies where they say like that as in 'Rodeo Drive'. We up here in Queensland have proper bullrides and ro-dee-os' haha! (also, I know where there's a 57 Fairlane two door with a good floor if you want a next project) Also want the Midnight Special T, let me know when your 2xl is back in stock please. Cheers Jordan. And yeah..I've edited this comment a few times, and love all of your ideas for this car..but have you looked at Australian cars for some bits and pieces? Maybe a '62 FB/EK dash, that would blow a few minds!
My parents had a yellow and ivory 54 Buick with green interior. First car I drove to 100 mph.
Hope this cracks 100mph haha
Turn the Old's into a Delivery Van...like the 1950 Oldsmobile 88 Sedan Delivery.
Another one bites the dust.
Said when original owner left in field. We’re here to save.
You could put a Prius in the trunk.
Hahah for when I run out of gas!
Nice Video.

The steering wheel has to b comfortable with ur arm across not to mess with ur controll of the car....Without u loosing contact with the seat behind ....as that is vital in corners to get all possible info on what the car actually does...
You’re right Kim
Did you think about frenched head- and taillights? Haven’t seen those in quite a while 😜 -
Keep on doing, what you do - it’s great stuff 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Got some mercury head light buckets and bezels for Frenching maybe some packard rear tail lights
@@bennettscustomsco - looking forward to it 😉
😂 this reminds me of a Bert Reynolds movie, W.W and the Dixie Kings. Check out this movie and it’s Golden Anniversary Olds.
Hey folks, I know where to get a bunch of parts for these old Oldsmobiles if you still need them!
Contact Jason at country boy gas garage there's a wrecking yard near him That's shutting down and there's probably parts there but you'll need to hurry before the crusher comes.
Old's and Buick's trifive leave Chevs styling for dead
Keep the Rocket for the roadster, than stick a BARRA in the Olds, that would be something different.
I like the first part! Hahah
She's gotta be a deep chrome colour matey
Keep it original it looks like my pops first new car
Please don’t cut the roofline. The Oldsmobile already has a gorgeous body line and it holds a rareness that should be preserved. It’s your car, but I’d worry more about custom paint and not custom cuts. God bless. Aloha from Hawaii. BTW, my mothers maiden name is Olds. Her father is a Olds from one of the Oldsmobiles founders sons. He moved to Hawaii and married a Hawaiian. That’s how grandpa came to be.
That’s pretty cool Tyler!
Oh yes we shall see what happens with the top!
I've been wondering when you are gonna do something with this one.
The time has come!
I think the Buick was the same as olds
Chevy will work I got them in mine (floors)
👍🏻🍺
I hope he don't leave rust and paint this car .i think this car should get a full restored
legit
Or...for the shifter a spring lifting a wee bit more than the weight of the thing.....
Will the 400 turbo transmission mate to that Rocket
Tedious
I have to ask, but do you have a yank accent? If not, have you spent time in SoCal?
What’s happening with the Olds?
Collecting parts for the build, new year we will get stuck into it
where are you located
West Aus
🇲🇦
CHOPPED is the right look for that HT hot rod
What happened to this build? Is it still happening?
Hey Grant, it’s still in the line up- hoping early next year. The whole clip has been sandblasted and motor coming out shortly for a spruce up! Going to be a fun one.
Mario
That is too nice a car so please don't cut it up. Maybe disc brake and other safety upgrades but otherwise keep it stok, I think in original colour scheme as well. Cheers
I wish that was possible. Unfortunately we have other ideas!
Agreed, there are plenty of high dollar restorations so we won't forget what they were like...jf...
The fours needs to b done ? The force needs to be done ?? eeeehm....
