Solid points. Jeeps aren't for everyone, especially the true 2 dr! A few months ago, I drove a 2 dr JL Sport and 4 dr JL Rubicon approx 3.5 hrs each way for my job at speeds of 80 - 85+ mph easily, and in all honesty, I have a hard time believing either has solid axles because the ride quality is not Jeep like at all, at least no Jeep I'm familiar with, even in the 2 dr! These feel much more like a luxury suv than a Jeep.
I can go 65 - 70mph in my '05 TJ Rocky Mtn., but if I can get an Escalade to take the wife and kids cross country, then of course, I'll choose the Cadillac like any family man would.
But I will say this, there is no better vehicle on the planet that I would chose over my '05 TJ Rocky Mtn 4.0 because of how well it handles on and especially off road, no other vehicle where I can take the top down, doors off and have the best time beach wheelin', beach camping and surf fishing with the family. Or hitting our favorite trail getting to a camp site and a great fishing hole. This is why I'm a Jeep TJ man for life. We Jeepers fully understand that the pros are so great that the cons are irrelevant.
And yes you can have a wife, 2 kids, 2 small - medium size dogs and take them to the beach or trail. A jumbo cargo rack in the hitch makes this possible for a 2 hr drive to the Outer Banks. 🏝 Again, the real 2 dr Jeep is not for everyone. Some would call this roughing it, I call it great family time. I'm a minimalist and most men are or at least were when I was growing up, today we are a very rare breed. Cool video 😎

will only buy used jeeps and first thing I do is tear out the carpets sand down the floor and paint tear out the back seats since I am the only person in it... on my second one .. first was a 95 se .. which I had for 12 years.. second one is a 97 Sahara had it for two years now .. not disappointed in it... and yes I have the death wobble in both vehicles you just have to watch the road and be ready for it... first one I paid 3900 and the second 6800

Good insight man, its true that Jeep has lost sight of "just enough essential parts" and it is sad what regulation has done to certain aspects.

Jeep is not an suv. Honda CRV(❤) is an suv. Jeep is a special purpose 4x4 built to dominate the off road.

I agree with you in principle, but what else do you call it on todays market?

      A rugged, utilitarian Jeep from '41 - '06.
A pavement princess suv from '07 - present.

These are mostly blue bloods who trade their vehicles in every 6 - 12 months. Rag dolled or in pavement princess condition.

It took me a year test driving and thinking about it before I bought JL Sahara. It's comfortable enough as daily driver and let's me and the family enjoy trails with open air feel. Main point ...make sure you know what you want and don't want.

The JL is probably the most refined and comfortable wrangler to date. That has its benefits, it makes it great for daily driving, and family hauling. It is also still very capable offroad! thats a tough balance to strike and Jeep has once again done it. But, you need to know what youre buying. Sounds like You did your research first. thats how to do it and not end up with buyers remorse 6 months from now. I hope you love it!
