Eden is the best summon in the whole franchise. From the moment you start casting it until it hits you got time to go get coffee, lunch, take a walk, start and finish another FF game and see your grandchildren graduate from university. God tier summon.
I love ff8. It was my intro to the series and will forever be my favorite. 12 is my second. Weird how the most disliked in the series are my favorite. I just feel like they did everything different.

Zell is God tier only if you have very fast finger and patience to do all that time consuming and repetitive punch/kick. Rinoa (Meteor Wing) is the real God tier, once activated, it can autonatically finish most bosses. Most important thing that is often forgotten or unnoticed is the fact that Meteor Wing is controlled by AI which means there is almost no ATB (in-game time) lost for selecting command. This is especially evident when having high speed stat and auto-haste, even if other characters have higher speed stat and slowest game setting is used, they still can't be faster than Rinoa (Meteor Wing) as how fast the character can be is not only determined by the time spent to fill ATB (speed stat) but also the time spent to select their command (speed of our finger [AI for Meteor Wing]). Furthermore, as the meteor animation start, it allow other characters to get their command selected without further losing ATB as ATB is paused during animation, so Meteor Wing will also increase other characters effective speed, allowing them to execute their command in rhythim just behind Rinoa, it works like pacemaker.
8 is my favorite final fantasy, but I can't really argue with this list. good job. I find Zell blah and just don't use him, though. Pulse Ammo for Irvine is definitely not why people use him. Early game and with lower STR; AP ammo does a ton of damage and typically fires 2-3x faster than pulse ammo for most of the game, however his fast ammo late game can rack up a lot more damage than any other ammo type. It is saddening that summons plummet in usefulness as a source of damage shortly after the start of the game, because most have some incredible animations.
AP Ammo is the same speed as Pulse it's the exact same animation, for both you shot 8 ammo at best, AP Ammo selling point is it's ignore ennemies defense but since everything is susceptible to VIT 0 in this game that's kinda useless.
Actually his best Limit Break are the fast ammo with highest Crisis Level you can shot at most 50 ammos in one round, with max out Strength he reach 2000 damage that's up to 100k damage in one round, and if you max out Crit rate he reach 4000 per hits if you reach 100% Crit Rate he can deal up to 200k in one turn, in comparaison due to how slow the animation is and the 9999 cap, you can at best shot 8 ammos for at best 80k.
About the only thing I remember from FFVIII is when I was in some underground sea lab or something like that and I stumbled into Bahamut. Rinoa cast Shooting Star or Wishing Star, whatever limit it was that she attacks several times with her doggo and she cast it right at the beginning of the match. Bahamut died. Was kind of impressed.

I got a few suggestions (if you don't have them in the pipeline already): - final fantasy 3 jobs (interesting as the utility is quite different between the remake and original, and depending on the progress in-game). - octopath traveler (perhaps for the travelers and sub-jobs separately) - dragon quest 11 (i feel this one is heavily debated). - and fire emblem 3 houses (just because tier lists here are highly controversial :)) Keep up the great work!!
Thanks for making this video even though you personally didnt care for FF8. But I must say Quistis is god tier, top tier at LEAST. She's FF8's Quina. Her iteration of mighty guard is the most overpowered in the series. Not only does it cast shell and protect, but it has very high chances of also casting haste, regen, AURA and float. Shockwave Pulsar breaks the damage limit. Degenerator removes enemies from battle. White wind comes in clutch. Bad breath is, well, it's bad breath. She's a beast.
The thing with Quistis if support was needed in this game she would be much better, Mighty Guard and White Wind are really good support abilities, the problem is this game is so easy that support isn't really needed, and so DPS is the key and in term of DPS she get outclass, Shockwave Pulsar can't exceed 30-35k, meanwhile Zell, Irvine and Squall can exceed 100k in one turn, and even Rinoa outdamage her with Wishing Star and Angel Wing Meteor.
@@locloudanerpg Not OP but I have noticed this too in other videos. It's not a huge deal, the videos could just do with the music volume turned down a notch. Interestingly volume aside your audio quality seems better to me here than on the recent FFX-2 dressphere video. Anyway I'm not here to criticise; I really enjoyed this video. I personally think Quezacotl's Card Mod is a pretty high ability, if you complete The Card Club side Quest and get to the Ragnarok airship in the fourth disc... you can duel the left girl of the CC Diamond to win back cards you've already card modded. Squall and Rinoa are the 2 constants that are in my party while the others are exchangeable although the girls are my favs as they are magic oriented rather than physical oriented like the boys Irvine - AP ammo and fire ammo (mobs) Selphie - Full cure and Rapture Quistis - White wind, Degenerator, SPulsar and micro missles Zell - The fist spam (if only the timer is more than 6 sec and my reflexes are on the low side, need meltdown first though) Rinoa - Invicible Moon and Wishing Star plus Angel Wings Squall - Renzokuken in general

I don't know about the list. I consider Irvine to be stronger than squall limit break wise. pulse ammo is way too slow for dmg vs something like fast ammo where you can unload more than half your ammo.
@@japan100100 You are looking to much for pure number, if you have high strength and luck his Fast Ammos can actually equals Squall : -Lionheart is 17 hits so about 170k damage, add the initial sequence which can go up to 8 hits, the initial hit of Renzokuken can't reach 9999 however IIRC with max strength and perfect timing they do about 8000, so at best you do about 234k at max strength. Add to that however that's there is only 25% for Squall to use the Lionheart and the initial sequence number of hits is pretty random, so he isn't as likely to get his max damage output than Irvine. -Irvine Fast Ammo with max strength and 100% Crit Rate does 4000-4500, with highest Crisis Level you can shot up to 50 ammos for a total of 200-220k damage in one turn. Also one important factor is animation speed, that's why all GF sucks IMO, but Irvine's animation are really fast so his damage is faster than most other character.
What is it that caused your stats to lower in the final battle? It's when the star appears around them. Then a message appears saying (junction) was blown away. Is it Ultimecia, choosing your party at random like an instructor calling students to the board? Is it Doom, or Time Compression bringing everything to nothingness? Btw, I made great use of Selphie. I just added full zombie status-J, then spammed white magic if possible on her turns. I just never made use of The End, as I thought it wasn't useful...
I'm not sure The End has ever come up for me! Even so I think Selphie's Full Cure helps a lot early game and is still useful late game. I would definitely rank her higher than Quistis.

Ya, with Full Cure, Selphie is a little more useful than Quistis. Quistis' moves are generally lackluster and situational, while you will usually find something useful for Selphie to use. Quistis has usually been in my main party as well and I never use her limit break, unless I'm grinding on those crazy islands with lvl 100 enemies, where her Degenerator might help a bit. As for the End, that almost never comes up for me. I think I've used it maybe once, and it wasn't a boss battle. It may not be as crappy as Cait Sith limit break, but it will take FOREVER to cycle to find The End and hopefully not skip it in the middle of an intense boss battle.

Selphie without The End is still top tier cuz shes the only way to have all 3 of your characters with 255% hit and have a spd and eva junction slot available. If strange Vision didnt max her accuracy this tier seems alright lol

@@happiestaku6646 thats it? let me share my completionist knowledge, young one. 1. HIT only affects "Normal attack Accuracy" it means, magic, GF and limit breaks dont need it. 2. Why use normal attack at all? besides, you rarely miss, even without junctioning anything on HIT. your natural hit stat is enough.
This was the last thing my dad ever bought me in 2000. I beat this game maybe three times until graduating in 2002 and then picked it back up when it released on Switch. I’m a much better JRPG player now than I was in high school. The only part of the game I really disliked was the Laguna part. I just wanted to play as my people.
Quistis- top tier- because of her usefulness on almost anywhere. Nuke (AOEs) on mobs, degen on stronger or annoying enemies (Island Closest to Hell grinds) and support role on bosses. Crisis 4 - Mighty Guard is just so tasty. Squall - mid tier- the randomness of his limit break is a turn off. it doesnt make sense, cause its his own skills, why its random? at least the other 2 random characters made sense: one is a slot machine and the other is a dog. Selphie - low tier - even worst with the randomness thing and using The End is really not worth the effort and its boring, the game is already super easy if you plan to break the game. Rinoa - mid tier - and another randomness, and her Angel Wing isnt that useful. though i use/AFK her more than the others cause of Angelo Search. as you can see, im not fond of randomness in battle, i rather finish the fight fast on my own terms, rather than HOPING to finish the fight outright,
Rino deserves to be god tier, just under Zell. If you only giver her meteor as he only offencive spel, then she will use it every round with angel wing active hitting for obserd amouts fo damage. But the really broken thing about her is to not learn wishing star, and to just abuse invincible moon every single turn, she literally makes the full party permninatly invincible, it's hillariously broken.
@@juliankanzuki2013 the issue with that is you have to build her up to that point, and have to sacrifice great spells to junction. (as a completionist, i dont like NOT equipping all the spells as possible and leaving out any abilities. i prefer the one are consistent damage without losing control or anything random. as for invincible moon, like The End, it makes the game boring.

I do see you point, and can agree to it not being as fun, but in terms of being game breakingly overpowered, Rinoa is up there with zell.
Okay so of all the characters I would say 1. Zell- attacks can break the game 2. Selphie- has useful healing and support 3. Squall- has great attacks and is all around good. 4. Rinoa- she becomes much more powerful in the later game but I find the first three essential 5. Quistis- she has very fun abilities too play but the others are more tanky 6. Irvine- personally he's good but I like everyone more so I'm very biased too him.
Your ff8 knowledge is better than your ff7 knowledge. Carbuncle gets vit bonus so I'd rank it higher. Brothers get HP bonus. Leviathan spirit bonus. Ifrit str bonus. Also, siren can refine dark matter so she needs to be much higher. Shockwave pulsar can do good damage so maybe quistis should be higher. Irvine can get guaranteed crits with a luck stat above 200 on his limit and fast ammo puts his damage over squall.
Abilities can be added to Eidolons via crafting to round things out. Most people play favorites with characters, reset and reload on the final fight until the trio they want are randomly selected. The challenge I set for myself was guaranteeing winning the final boss fight _no matter who the game picked, first try, no deaths_ (intentional or otherwise). To this end, I worked out how distribute the full cast of Eidolons in such a way that ALL party members got all stats boosted, while adding the fewest possible new abilities to Eidolons as needed (I hate grinding for crafting items). And it worked!

She has some amazing spells, but the fact that she doesn't get her group healing spell until level 35 may affect her ranking somewhat. Group healing is pivotal in a series as difficult as Shadow Hearts, where regular encounters can easily spank your ass. The fact that I had to keep my top damage dealer as Baldo to do the group healing kind of left a bad taste in my mouth :/

For Irvine, I think you have to consider his other ammo types. In particular Fast and AP ammo make him strong. I'd still rank him below the other boys, though. Squall and Selphie both have 255% hit chance weapons, which is good when e.g. farming little cactus dudes. Quistis might be your most underrated here because of Mighty Guard, Level 5 Death (in a game where you can use Tonberry to manipulate enemy levels!), etc. But I agree Zell is king. In fact, I'd probably rank Rinoa or Quistis above Squall because they bring things to the table other than damage, which is the one thing you definitely don't need any help with while Zell is around.
hoestly, every single character (except maybe selphie) belongs in god tier... everyone has something broken about them. Selphie has the end, but its unreliable.
@@jasensyre3631 Irvine is trash.... only for people that lack the knowledge about this game, Zell can kill Omega Weapon in 1 turn yes but it takes ages, meanwhile Irvine with assistance of Squall and Rinoa can take out the Omega Weapon LV100 in 2 minutes this is the fastest kill possible without being extremely lucky with Selphie's The End. Also Irvine is in general the speedrun god of this game.
I have complete knowledge of the game. Too old not to. I don't do Goku characters, so Squall is definitely out. Irvine no matter what he can do is garbage, which leaves Zell with the two queens Selphie and Quistis. Hands down the strongest team. We can add Rinna sometimes but not really.
I am really surprised that a lot of people do not know about Irvine and fast ammo... he puts Rinoa out of competition easily and he even tops Squal, no one beats master Zell though.
@@NightwinSeraph Even then, Boost does nothing to Diablos because it does fixed damage based on percentage of its level. How the math is calculated in the game doesn't factor in gravity-like damage for Boost. Even if it did, the calculation would have to be done in the correct order or else Boost could end up causing *less* damage--multiplying a percentage by a percentage is multiplying a fraction by a fraction (example: 50% x 50% = 1/2 x 1/2 = 1/4 = 25%).
... you dont know about irvine's fast ammo limit break???? that makes him by far the most efficient damage dealer especially considering the effort and time involved with zell's limit break

Eden and selphie is best partner,summon eden to have a long animation while finding the end,if u strength not maximum,the end is the best for instant killing boss.(selphie with very low hp and use aura on her will higher the chance to get the end)
I think you arent far off the only thing i would do is switch Rinoa and Irvine round. Shooting star is random, her invincible limit can be done without the randomness with holy wars and heroes, and the rest of the limits can do 9,999 damage max, angel wings is garbage unless you have an insane magic star which is worse than Selphies limit break as she has extra useful spells that Rinoa or nobody else has access to.
Angel Wing garbage ? LOL get rid of all your offensive spell save for Meteor, increase her speed as much as you can and have Auto-Haste and she'll do over 70k per turns, and since she is in auto pilot AND her spell are considere Limit Break meaning she has priority, she will cast Meteor again and again without the ennemy ever taking a turn, you can legit stunlock Omega Weapon to death with Rinoa alone with this strategy, without you having to do anything once you activate Angel Wing.

I just beat and platinum the remaster on a lv100 playthrough yesterday. The game is definitely a broken game even on lv100 it's not hard because of better magic to draw from higher level enemies. The final dungeon was also very disappointing with reused enemies and all the bosses and enemies don't pass lv51.
I say Eden is a disgunting annoyance bc it takes so MF long by the time it ends I would have mopped the floor with physical attacks alone at least 2 random battles 😒
Actually no anybody with minimum knowledge knows the game is broken, being able to get -aga tier spells, Quake and Holy right at the beginning of the game (on top of other broken stuff like Limit Break spams being easy as hell and easy access Invincible statut) and the game being actually easier to beat without leveling than leveling up, yeah that game is broken.
Why even place the characters in the ranking in this broken mess of a game? By properly utilizing the early game GF’s abilities the party members can be gods before the end of the first disc. It doesn’t matter if the party is limited to their base abilities or not.
Disagree with a few things said on this list. Firstly, selphie's The End actually dosen't affect any undead enemy or boss. Secondly it's less relaible than Cait Sith's The End, Cait Sith is the best character in ff7 because of that limit, if you practice with it you can garantee it every single time and 1 shot anything. (search GarlandTheGreat's tutorial here on youtube). Secondly, rinoa is got tier, you don't bother learning wishing star, just learn Invincibly moon, that way any time she is crisis level 3 or 4, she will garantee full party invulnerability, and it's easy to keep her in crisis level 3.
The End can kill any boss as long as it not being Undead. That attack almost equal as Zanmato from FFX which can install kill Penance with 12 000 000 HP.
@@huymaivan8671 So, exactly as I said, it does not work on undead bosses. Zanmato is reguarded as far stronger because it does get everything including undead, and is FAR more reliable than Selphie's The End. It also dosen't exactly work on Ultimecia phase 4, if you do use it on her she dosen't die, she just moves on to the next line of dialogue instantly.

Definitely for random encounters especially against the monsters on the island of heaven and hell, her degenerater instantly kills one enemy expect bosses and 5 other random enemies even in the boss battle she can be a useful as a support character with he mighty guard and white wind, her bad breath and acid can cause status effect on enemy and lower their stats Her shock wave pulser can break the max damage cap it can deal 60,000 damage which isn’t bad considering she’s a support character

@@evelynsitanggang3648 Same goes for other Final Fantasy games that have Limit breaks or Limit break-like mechanics--it's often the only significant thing separating characters gameplay-wise. Otherwise making a tier list of these types of characters without considering them is pointless--they'd all be at a virtual tie.
Probably not considering they're only playable in a specific section of the game (like Edea) and only a small handful of times. I think there are four total flashback sections. Also because the optimal way to play FF8 is by not leveling up it's more beneficial to not battle with Laguna's party at all except when mandatory so they don't really matter in the spectrum of best and doing things late game.
you are literally wrong about everything in this video except the part about Zell.it shows you have only played this game once. selphie is useless. The odds of getting Rapture or The End are so low, you spend more time cycling through the abilities Zell is the best character in the game. With 39s on the limit break clock and being able to perform a punch rush (0.02s) and Booya (0.02s) combo over and over, each attack does about 3000-5000dmg thats damage comparable to Squall if not more!. Siren is acually one of the best GFS in the game, non elemental damage and a silence that enemies cant resist, and a long animation allows to easily boost to 190 and above, not to mention how hard it is to find a GF with status -Def junction..Siren is one of the few who have it, and you would be amazed who is weak to silence in the game. Shiva is useless also, bare basic GF whose ice attack can be replicated by Junction Ice to Elem-attack. Also Pheonix is the BEST if not one of the best summons in the game. You realize the % of phoenix showing up is based on how many phoenix pinions you have right? so at 99 pinions there is about a 55% chance to be fully restored at KO (he even brings back those absorbed by Ultimecia at the end of the game). The way to actually break the game is use a turbo controller for irvine and use fast ammo, you will easily fire all 99shots, each shot is between 2000-3000mg, you can literally beat Omega weapon in 3 turns with him..squall LB>Zell LB>>Irvine LB=dead. If you are going to review a game, I suggest playing it more then once first
Yeah normaly this dude makes great reviews and good rankings but this one was shit tho, he said at the begining he didnt like it the game, and you can obviously tell that by the way he speaks about the game, kinda makes me wonder why make the video to begin with... FF8 is the best FF game for me, behind only FF tactics from GBA, and for me this video was bad as it can possible get.
I get that you're more of a pedestrian FF8 fan but your analysis is off on most points. Pandemona is mid-to-high tier because of initiative, When you can go first they don't stand a chance. And it gets +str abilities which is always needed. Irvine is top tier because, if his strength is maxed, he can deal way more damage with fast ammo. Rinoa is low tier. You never get invincible moon, it's always angelo cannon and that stupid whistle. Plot wise she's also low-tier. Worst character in the game. You ranked Eden super high because it breaks the damage limit but so can Quistis with shockwave pulsar. You put her in a bad tier, but you get way more flexibility with her limit breaks than any other character. You ranked squall way too low, he's a king of multi-hit, single-target damage. Zell sucks because his limit break takes forever do. Yeah, you can perfectly spam inputs and do lots of damage, but you've also exponentially increased the length of any fight and after awhile it just becomes a pain. Squall, Quistis and Irvine, best party.
Because Odin just summons on his own at random excluding boss battles Odin would be god tier as he literally kills every enemy in every battle he arrives that’s why he is random
Ff15 is terrible. You have to summon under circumstances but you can make your characters more powerful and get through the game with just the simple piece of shit summon THUNDER Dad because he's apparently the only Dad Noctis sees his whole life.
Maybe you weren't paying attention? Zell is hotheaded, Seifer's an ahole, Selphie is carefree and charismatic, Irvine is a flirt with performance anxiety....Squall is literally just moody. It may be more relatable but he has the least personality of all the characters.

Most important thing that is often forgotten or unnoticed is the fact that Meteor Wing is controlled by AI which means there is almost no ATB (in-game time) lost for selecting command. This is especially evident when having high speed stat and auto-haste, even if other characters have higher speed stat and slowest game setting is used, they still can't be faster than Rinoa (Meteor Wing) as how fast the character can be is not only determined by the time spent to fill ATB (speed stat) but also the time spent to select their command (speed of our finger [AI for Meteor Wing]). Furthermore, as the meteor animation start, it allow other characters to get their command selected without further losing ATB as ATB is paused during animation, so Meteor Wing will also increase other characters effective speed, allowing them to execute their command in rhythim just behind Rinoa, it works like pacemaker.
I'm satisfied with this list. Love Zell, Rinoa, and Squall.

8 is my favorite final fantasy, but I can't really argue with this list. good job. I find Zell blah and just don't use him, though. Pulse Ammo for Irvine is definitely not why people use him. Early game and with lower STR; AP ammo does a ton of damage and typically fires 2-3x faster than pulse ammo for most of the game, however his fast ammo late game can rack up a lot more damage than any other ammo type. It is saddening that summons plummet in usefulness as a source of damage shortly after the start of the game, because most have some incredible animations.
AP Ammo is the same speed as Pulse it's the exact same animation, for both you shot 8 ammo at best, AP Ammo selling point is it's ignore ennemies defense but since everything is susceptible to VIT 0 in this game that's kinda useless.
Yeah, zell is pretty much the best anyway

Irvine is the man for boss battles. Pulse ammo 9999dmg output x multiple trigger boom fast ko to bosses.
Actually his best Limit Break are the fast ammo with highest Crisis Level you can shot at most 50 ammos in one round, with max out Strength he reach 2000 damage that's up to 100k damage in one round, and if you max out Crit rate he reach 4000 per hits if you reach 100% Crit Rate he can deal up to 200k in one turn, in comparaison due to how slow the animation is and the 9999 cap, you can at best shot 8 ammos for at best 80k.

About the only thing I remember from FFVIII is when I was in some underground sea lab or something like that and I stumbled into Bahamut. Rinoa cast Shooting Star or Wishing Star, whatever limit it was that she attacks several times with her doggo and she cast it right at the beginning of the match.

- final fantasy 3 jobs (interesting as the utility is quite different between the remake and original, and depending on the progress in-game).
- octopath traveler (perhaps for the travelers and sub-jobs separately)
- dragon quest 11 (i feel this one is heavily debated).
- and fire emblem 3 houses (just because tier lists here are highly controversial :))

But I must say Quistis is god tier, top tier at LEAST.
She's FF8's Quina. Her iteration of mighty guard is the most overpowered in the series. Not only does it cast shell and protect, but it has very high chances of also casting haste, regen, AURA and float.
Shockwave Pulsar breaks the damage limit. Degenerator removes enemies from battle. White wind comes in clutch. Bad breath is, well, it's bad breath.
She's a beast.
The thing with Quistis if support was needed in this game she would be much better, Mighty Guard and White Wind are really good support abilities, the problem is this game is so easy that support isn't really needed, and so DPS is the key and in term of DPS she get outclass, Shockwave Pulsar can't exceed 30-35k, meanwhile Zell, Irvine and Squall can exceed 100k in one turn, and even Rinoa outdamage her with Wishing Star and Angel Wing Meteor.

Zell - The fist spam (if only the timer is more than 6 sec and my reflexes are on the low side, need meltdown first though)

I don't know about the list. I consider Irvine to be stronger than squall limit break wise. pulse ammo is way too slow for dmg vs something like fast ammo where you can unload more than half your ammo.
Yeah, but fast ammo is the weakest ammo he has. Lionheart pretty much does max damage every hit.
@@japan100100 You are looking to much for pure number, if you have high strength and luck his Fast Ammos can actually equals Squall :
-Lionheart is 17 hits so about 170k damage, add the initial sequence which can go up to 8 hits, the initial hit of Renzokuken can't reach 9999 however IIRC with max strength and perfect timing they do about 8000, so at best you do about 234k at max strength. Add to that however that's there is only 25% for Squall to use the Lionheart and the initial sequence number of hits is pretty random, so he isn't as likely to get his max damage output than Irvine.
-Irvine Fast Ammo with max strength and 100% Crit Rate does 4000-4500, with highest Crisis Level you can shot up to 50 ammos for a total of 200-220k damage in one turn.
Also one important factor is animation speed, that's why all GF sucks IMO, but Irvine's animation are really fast so his damage is faster than most other character.
What is it that caused your stats to lower in the final battle? It's when the star appears around them. Then a message appears saying (junction) was blown away. Is it Ultimecia, choosing your party at random like an instructor calling students to the board? Is it Doom, or Time Compression bringing everything to nothingness?
Btw, I made great use of Selphie. I just added full zombie status-J, then spammed white magic if possible on her turns. I just never made use of The End, as I thought it wasn't useful...
I'm not sure The End has ever come up for me! Even so I think Selphie's Full Cure helps a lot early game and is still useful late game. I would definitely rank her higher than Quistis.
Full Cure is how I beat the game the first time. prayed for full cure and lionheart every round.
You don't even want to be cured though. You want to buff your HP a ton and keep it in the yellow so you can spam limit breaks.

Ya, with Full Cure, Selphie is a little more useful than Quistis. Quistis' moves are generally lackluster and situational, while you will usually find something useful for Selphie to use. Quistis has usually been in my main party as well and I never use her limit break, unless I'm grinding on those crazy islands with lvl 100 enemies, where her Degenerator might help a bit. As for the End, that almost never comes up for me. I think I've used it maybe once, and it wasn't a boss battle. It may not be as crappy as Cait Sith limit break, but it will take FOREVER to cycle to find The End and hopefully not skip it in the middle of an intense boss battle.

Selphie might have full-cure but that is easily replaced with Quistis white wind
Selphie wall is also easily beaten by Quistis mighty guard and her degenerate beats Selphie rapture
The only thing Selphie has is the end which has a very low chance of showing up

This was the last thing my dad ever bought me in 2000. I beat this game maybe three times until graduating in 2002 and then picked it back up when it released on Switch. I’m a much better JRPG player now than I was in high school. The only part of the game I really disliked was the Laguna part. I just wanted to play as my people.
Quistis- top tier- because of her usefulness on almost anywhere. Nuke (AOEs) on mobs, degen on stronger or annoying enemies (Island Closest to Hell grinds) and support role on bosses. Crisis 4 - Mighty Guard is just so tasty.
Squall - mid tier- the randomness of his limit break is a turn off. it doesnt make sense, cause its his own skills, why its random? at least the other 2 random characters made sense: one is a slot machine and the other is a dog.
Selphie - low tier - even worst with the randomness thing and using The End is really not worth the effort and its boring, the game is already super easy if you plan to break the game.
Rinoa - mid tier - and another randomness, and her Angel Wing isnt that useful. though i use/AFK her more than the others cause of Angelo Search.
as you can see, im not fond of randomness in battle, i rather finish the fight fast on my own terms, rather than HOPING to finish the fight outright,
Rino deserves to be god tier, just under Zell. If you only giver her meteor as he only offencive spel, then she will use it every round with angel wing active hitting for obserd amouts fo damage. But the really broken thing about her is to not learn wishing star, and to just abuse invincible moon every single turn, she literally makes the full party permninatly invincible, it's hillariously broken.
@@juliankanzuki2013 the issue with that is you have to build her up to that point, and have to sacrifice great spells to junction. (as a completionist, i dont like NOT equipping all the spells as possible and leaving out any abilities.
i prefer the one are consistent damage without losing control or anything random.
as for invincible moon, like The End, it makes the game boring.

I do see you point, and can agree to it not being as fun, but in terms of being game breakingly overpowered, Rinoa is up there with zell.
Okay so of all the characters I would say
1. Zell- attacks can break the game
2. Selphie- has useful healing and support
3. Squall- has great attacks and is all around good.
4. Rinoa- she becomes much more powerful in the later game but I find the first three essential
5. Quistis- she has very fun abilities too play but the others are more tanky
6. Irvine- personally he's good but I like everyone more so I'm very biased too him.
My first First Finally Fantasy
Your ff8 knowledge is better than your ff7 knowledge. Carbuncle gets vit bonus so I'd rank it higher. Brothers get HP bonus. Leviathan spirit bonus. Ifrit str bonus. Also, siren can refine dark matter so she needs to be much higher. Shockwave pulsar can do good damage so maybe quistis should be higher. Irvine can get guaranteed crits with a luck stat above 200 on his limit and fast ammo puts his damage over squall.

Abilities can be added to Eidolons via crafting to round things out. Most people play favorites with characters, reset and reload on the final fight until the trio they want are randomly selected. The challenge I set for myself was guaranteeing winning the final boss fight _no matter who the game picked, first try, no deaths_ (intentional or otherwise). To this end, I worked out how distribute the full cast of Eidolons in such a way that ALL party members got all stats boosted, while adding the fewest possible new abilities to Eidolons as needed (I hate grinding for crafting items). And it worked!

Are you planning on doing Shadow Hearts tier lists at some point in time? Shadow Hearts content is hard to come by and there are literally no tier lists of the characters on RUclips at all :(

I'm very curious about how you'll end up ranking Alice. She has some amazing spells, but the fact that she doesn't get her group healing spell until level 35 may affect her ranking somewhat. Group healing is pivotal in a series as difficult as Shadow Hearts, where regular encounters can easily spank your ass. The fact that I had to keep my top damage dealer as Baldo to do the group healing kind of left a bad taste in my mouth :/

For Irvine, I think you have to consider his other ammo types. In particular Fast and AP ammo make him strong. I'd still rank him below the other boys, though.
Squall and Selphie both have 255% hit chance weapons, which is good when e.g. farming little cactus dudes.
Quistis might be your most underrated here because of Mighty Guard, Level 5 Death (in a game where you can use Tonberry to manipulate enemy levels!), etc.
But I agree Zell is king. In fact, I'd probably rank Rinoa or Quistis above Squall because they bring things to the table other than damage, which is the one thing you definitely don't need any help with while Zell is around.
hoestly, every single character (except maybe selphie) belongs in god tier... everyone has something broken about them. Selphie has the end, but its unreliable.
Irvine is trash. Zell is King and Selphi and Quistis are queens. Glad Zell was acknowledged for his supreme power.

Also Irvine is in general the speedrun god of this game.
I have complete knowledge of the game. Too old not to. I don't do Goku characters, so Squall is definitely out. Irvine no matter what he can do is garbage, which leaves Zell with the two queens Selphie and Quistis. Hands down the strongest team. We can add Rinna sometimes but not really.

She's really fun and she's also a good mage.
Rinoa's Meteor Wing might do less damage per _turn_ than Zell's limit spam, but max out her speed and give her haste and that won't matter anyway.
I am really surprised that a lot of people do not know about Irvine and fast ammo... he puts Rinoa out of competition easily and he even tops Squal, no one beats master Zell though.

@@NightwinSeraph Even then, Boost does nothing to Diablos because it does fixed damage based on percentage of its level. How the math is calculated in the game doesn't factor in gravity-like damage for Boost.
Even if it did, the calculation would have to be done in the correct order or else Boost could end up causing *less* damage--multiplying a percentage by a percentage is multiplying a fraction by a fraction (example: 50% x 50% = 1/2 x 1/2 = 1/4 = 25%).
I probably would have put Rinoa in God tier as well if you set her final limit break up properly.

Fun Fact: Irvine should be Top Tier and above, his main damage doesnt come from Pulse Ammo but mainly Normal Ammo and Fast Ammo once you max his stats specifically the Strength and Luck that is if we talking about characters have max stats but if you're just having a normal playthrough i can see him being in the mid tier but still this character can ABSOLUTELY solo a Omega Weapon which is the hardest boss in the game

That is a good combination but the end is still completely has a low chance of appearing your better off spamming Renzukukon shot and duel
I think you arent far off the only thing i would do is switch Rinoa and Irvine round.
Shooting star is random, her invincible limit can be done without the randomness with holy wars and heroes, and the rest of the limits can do 9,999 damage max, angel wings is garbage unless you have an insane magic star which is worse than Selphies limit break as she has extra useful spells that Rinoa or nobody else has access to.
Angel Wing garbage ? LOL get rid of all your offensive spell save for Meteor, increase her speed as much as you can and have Auto-Haste and she'll do over 70k per turns, and since she is in auto pilot AND her spell are considere Limit Break meaning she has priority, she will cast Meteor again and again without the ennemy ever taking a turn, you can legit stunlock Omega Weapon to death with Rinoa alone with this strategy, without you having to do anything once you activate Angel Wing.
Why don't you do a whos is the best of breath of fire 2 or 3?

I just beat and platinum the remaster on a lv100 playthrough yesterday. The game is definitely a broken game even on lv100 it's not hard because of better magic to draw from higher level enemies. The final dungeon was also very disappointing with reused enemies and all the bosses and enemies don't pass lv51.
The final dungeon was abysmal. The best part of the game was the opening hours in my opinion. It goes off the rails after the train mission.

The only people who claim this game is broken are the ones who don't know how the game works.
Actually no anybody with minimum knowledge knows the game is broken, being able to get -aga tier spells, Quake and Holy right at the beginning of the game (on top of other broken stuff like Limit Break spams being easy as hell and easy access Invincible statut) and the game being actually easier to beat without leveling than leveling up, yeah that game is broken.
Why even place the characters in the ranking in this broken mess of a game? By properly utilizing the early game GF’s abilities the party members can be gods before the end of the first disc. It doesn’t matter if the party is limited to their base abilities or not.
Quistis should be moved up, her Degenerator kills every common enemy except for those plant monsters from Balamb Garden.
But if you need to use degenerator on Grats...FF8 might not be the game for you

Disagree with a few things said on this list.
Firstly, selphie's The End actually dosen't affect any undead enemy or boss. Secondly it's less relaible than Cait Sith's The End, Cait Sith is the best character in ff7 because of that limit, if you practice with it you can garantee it every single time and 1 shot anything. (search GarlandTheGreat's tutorial here on youtube).
Secondly, rinoa is got tier, you don't bother learning wishing star, just learn Invincibly moon, that way any time she is crisis level 3 or 4, she will garantee full party invulnerability, and it's easy to keep her in crisis level 3.
If you're facing Undead, you don't need The End, you have other ways to one-shot them.
The End can kill any boss as long as it not being Undead. That attack almost equal as Zanmato from FFX which can install kill Penance with 12 000 000 HP.
@@huymaivan8671 So, exactly as I said, it does not work on undead bosses. Zanmato is reguarded as far stronger because it does get everything including undead, and is FAR more reliable than Selphie's The End.
It also dosen't exactly work on Ultimecia phase 4, if you do use it on her she dosen't die, she just moves on to the next line of dialogue instantly.

Definitely for random encounters especially against the monsters on the island of heaven and hell, her degenerater instantly kills one enemy expect bosses and 5 other random enemies even in the boss battle she can be a useful as a support character with he mighty guard and white wind, her bad breath and acid can cause status effect on enemy and lower their stats
Her shock wave pulser can break the max damage cap it can deal 60,000 damage which isn’t bad considering she’s a support character

@@evelynsitanggang3648 Same goes for other Final Fantasy games that have Limit breaks or Limit break-like mechanics--it's often the only significant thing separating characters gameplay-wise. Otherwise making a tier list of these types of characters without considering them is pointless--they'd all be at a virtual tie.

Probably not considering they're only playable in a specific section of the game (like Edea) and only a small handful of times. I think there are four total flashback sections.
Also because the optimal way to play FF8 is by not leveling up it's more beneficial to not battle with Laguna's party at all except when mandatory so they don't really matter in the spectrum of best and doing things late game.
you are literally wrong about everything in this video except the part about Zell.it shows you have only played this game once. selphie is useless. The odds of getting Rapture or The End are so low, you spend more time cycling through the abilities Zell is the best character in the game. With 39s on the limit break clock and being able to perform a punch rush (0.02s) and Booya (0.02s) combo over and over, each attack does about 3000-5000dmg thats damage comparable to Squall if not more!. Siren is acually one of the best GFS in the game, non elemental damage and a silence that enemies cant resist, and a long animation allows to easily boost to 190 and above, not to mention how hard it is to find a GF with status -Def junction..Siren is one of the few who have it, and you would be amazed who is weak to silence in the game. Shiva is useless also, bare basic GF whose ice attack can be replicated by Junction Ice to Elem-attack. Also Pheonix is the BEST if not one of the best summons in the game. You realize the % of phoenix showing up is based on how many phoenix pinions you have right? so at 99 pinions there is about a 55% chance to be fully restored at KO (he even brings back those absorbed by Ultimecia at the end of the game). The way to actually break the game is use a turbo controller for irvine and use fast ammo, you will easily fire all 99shots, each shot is between 2000-3000mg, you can literally beat Omega weapon in 3 turns with him..squall LB>Zell LB>>Irvine LB=dead. If you are going to review a game, I suggest playing it more then once first
Yeah normaly this dude makes great reviews and good rankings but this one was shit tho, he said at the begining he didnt like it the game, and you can obviously tell that by the way he speaks about the game, kinda makes me wonder why make the video to begin with... FF8 is the best FF game for me, behind only FF tactics from GBA, and for me this video was bad as it can possible get.

I get that you're more of a pedestrian FF8 fan but your analysis is off on most points. Pandemona is mid-to-high tier because of initiative, When you can go first they don't stand a chance. And it gets +str abilities which is always needed. Irvine is top tier because, if his strength is maxed, he can deal way more damage with fast ammo. Rinoa is low tier. You never get invincible moon, it's always angelo cannon and that stupid whistle. Plot wise she's also low-tier. Worst character in the game. You ranked Eden super high because it breaks the damage limit but so can Quistis with shockwave pulsar. You put her in a bad tier, but you get way more flexibility with her limit breaks than any other character. You ranked squall way too low, he's a king of multi-hit, single-target damage. Zell sucks because his limit break takes forever do. Yeah, you can perfectly spam inputs and do lots of damage, but you've also exponentially increased the length of any fight and after awhile it just becomes a pain. Squall, Quistis and Irvine, best party.

Maybe you weren't paying attention? Zell is hotheaded, Seifer's an ahole, Selphie is carefree and charismatic, Irvine is a flirt with performance anxiety....Squall is literally just moody. It may be more relatable but he has the least personality of all the characters.
