I loved the podcast! I like your takes and it's very fluid, it flows so damn well! Sounds like a radio show!
I'll second the comment tho that the music is indeed way too distracting but other than that, inject it in my veins

Thanks for the feedback!! (Legitimately) Always welcome. I can tone it down / off for the next one. But typically we have something going for by music. So I'll try to think of something better.
& Roa Did a lot of it! If you like his stuff, search Roa Tropical House and it should come up!! 😄

The power creep can be scaled back. Here's how to do it.
    - Remove Quickness and Alacrity from the game completely.
    - Reduce the power of all Boons by about 2/3 except for Vigor and Swiftness.
    - Reduce CDs and Cast Timers so people can still have a reasonable rotation.
    - Change condis so they work off Power and Ferocity, then remove Expertise and +Condi Damage.
    - Balance everything about the new numbers. This is a monumental task so, initially just implement it in Core and whatever new expac area. Then implement a static buff that increases damage done while in that area until the encounters can be balanced.
    More specialised things:
    - Change Stability from a binary yes/no effect to a -25% effect/duration decrease. It should have no stacks and just a duration. There's already a mechanic in the game to avoid Stuns and such, it's called Dodging, people should learn to use it as Stability just lets them ignore mechanics completely which means they must be extremely punishing to make up for it if you do lack Stability. An example of this is KO CM where the Dragon Slash just kills you with the knockback. This would make Vigor extremely important for PvE.
    - Make a proper Diminishing Return for hard CC. Every CC starts a timer where if any new CC is applied within X seconds it has -25% duration/effect. This effect is cumulative until you reach -100%. This stacks with Stability so it would only be three rather than four. CC should be about quality rather than quantity.

I don't hate a lot of this. What game modes do you play primarily? ^ I often find people specifying that is important in these discussions. 😂

@@GW2Pseudo I primarily play PvE and WvW. I would like to get into SPvP and the limitations on the Boon System is the greatest contributor to making a total clown show where new players are
      discouraged from staying in.
I am educated in occupational therapy and I have a strong interest in games. Using those two things I have identified the performance aspect of the combat system as a system, and that system heavily affects every other system it's used in, PvE, sPvP, and WvW.
Roughly speaking, out of the 100% maxim performance a player can only reach about 25% without boons and the boons are then multiplicative to that. The Boons are also only applied in a small area, so people have to stack to get them. They also have a short duration so people have to remain in proximity to access that increased power.
This can be seen in Fractals such as Lonely Tower and Silent Surf where players had to leave the stack often and that made the bosses seem particularly spongey since their health was scaled after the full power people could achieve that would fall off due to them splitting and their power would be vastly decreased as a result. It also gives an extremely limited space for open-world encounters to be designed in since if they're set to a power level that the players can definitely match, the encounter is way too easy if people have the boons, and conversely, a lot harder to impossible if the encounter is designed around them having it and then they lack in.
In WvW it creates the boon ball meta.
In PvP it makes it possible to set up some truly disgusting burst windows with little counter to them since it's too fast for interrupts if you add Quickness and Boonstripping an opponent is a major downgrade in their power rather than a minor inconvenience, so that has to be extremely limited due to the power of Boons.
It's so bad that Hardstuck has done a naked Soo-Won that they did easily because the Boons mean so much more for player power than the gear people are wearing.
That Condi should use the exact same system as Power would make it possible to make a true hybrid since if you need six different stats to make something work then it's no longer hybrid and you're better off just specialising.
WoW had the same issue with magic using a completely different system than physical damage until they changed it to one that was similar enough to be the same system only with different names. I know the coding for at least some of that exists in Gw2 since Might gives damage to both Power and Condi.

@@nielsjensen4185 Consider tightening it up and many would probably be interested in this as a reddit/blog post. And I'm not disagreeing with you. The boons do make a lot more sense in PvP where Concentration doesn't exist, (where you can, at least sometimes still) interact with whatever you're fighting. And make much, MUCH more sense in the OG game where you: Say, pushed a shout for example and got like, 5 might for 5 seconds. Even with Heart of Thorns, classes did maybe, MAYBE 23K, and the only stats that concentration was on were defensive. --> This had to be "supports." Diviner's was the first huge "kick in the head" to this. & Cele straight round-housed' it for WvW. Boons, at least as a concept, are fine. But if everyone has everything in 2/3 game modes, that's just called "Playing the game." And a rework on the scale that you're asking would tragically not be a "sale-able feature" of a new expansion that would get/keep players playing, at least not while keeping their "we're actually *not* going to nickel&dime you" model. Game design also includes marketing, which can be done in not awful ways. The best I can personally hope for is that they scale back WvW celestial gear at some point in the future. Or damage reduction modifiers, or both. But that's also, just my 3 cents. 😄

If the Warrior Spear was designed by someone who never played the class the Rev spear was made by someone who never played the game.

    • @captaincrapface7337
      @captaincrapface7337 4 месяца назад +1

disagree, warrior spear seems to be desighned specifically around spellbreaker in PvP.
Core burst has non-scaling evasion - meaning the evasion frames are the strongest on spb specifically due to cooldown reset.
Ranged burst means ranged [Magebane Tether] application.
[Spear Swipe] moves you backwards, and pushes the foe away, making it the best skill to initiate the tether pull.
Teather pull guarantees spear 4 into full kill combo.
Spb workes TOO well with spear in PvP for it to be accidental.
Coincidently, becouse it's desighned to work with Spb it doesn't work with anything else, anywhere else.

@@captaincrapface7337 That means they at least play the game in some capacity.
As meh as the Warrior Spear was the Rev Spear was just objectively bad in all game modes.
The Rev spear worked with nothing, it even sucked on Vindicator with a no-upkeep build.

    • @GW2Pseudo

@@captaincrapface7337This ^. (& Honestly PvE SbB as well.) -- Tangent thought: it's so weird that all 3 Warrior Elite Specs feel like "Warrior with 1 more year of Dev time." At least mechanically. 2 Of the could clearly use help in basically every game mode. But Spellbreaker was there once upon a time, at least for PvE.
& Re: The Rev thing: That's weird because the mechanics seem nuts on paper. Numbers/costs seemed prohibitively high to me tho. So hopefully* they can pulle enough levers' to get it to feel good.' At least somewhere. 😄
