    I apologize for my ISP sucking massively. That's something that's definitely NOT ok lol. But thanks for joining & let us know what you think if 2024 GW2 Balance below! \o/ Happy Holidays all! 😄🎅☃

    Respect for all the fights and trying stuff dog. Solid analysis. I think there's room for new sigils and relics both imo

  • @Wraithbound1
    @Wraithbound1 Месяц назад +2

    Relics are one of the things I look forward to most in an expansion since I'm a big buildcrafter who mostly plays open world. Things like the bees, Stormsinger, Cerus Atrocity, Sunless, etc. are really fun to play around with. I think if all the relics were activatable or interactive in general like the above (even if some of those are on elite skill) then it would be a great system. % bonuses are boring, but build defining effects belong on relics imo.
    I would also love an expansion on the current stats system. It's simultaneously too complex for the avg player to understand at a glance (most new players don't even know that trinkets make up the majority of your stats) but also too stale and solved. I figured out for pve you can build 5 sets and be happy: Celestial, Berserker/Marauder/Demolisher depending on your power setup, Viper, Diviner, and Ritualist. Because of this I went full Legendary Runes and Sigils before even dreaming about armor.

    • @GW2Pseudo
      @GW2Pseudo  Месяц назад +1

      Thank you. I find the relic space already super saturated so it's really helpful to get other people's perspectives on this. 😄
      They could also do a lot to simplify the stat system as well. (e.g. putting approximate %'s of your total stats in at least a note in the intro compendium, or under each piece of you hover over it.)
      I'm curious, is there a reason Relics appeal to you more than say, new Sigils? Just perhaps because the effects are allowed to be more powerful or they have special animations?

    • @Wraithbound1
      @Wraithbound1 Месяц назад +1

      @@GW2Pseudo They're allowed to be more powerful and have unique effects. Sigils are pretty stale with the passive/on-hit/on-crit/stacking/on-interrupt dichotomy. You can't really deviate from this as these things are supposed to be tied to your weapon functions. Having a relic effect on a sigil would either be a straight downgrade from Force/Accuracy/Bursting or would have to be so limited in design space that it's not worth making new ones imo.
      Think about it this way: sigils in their current iteration make intuitive sense given that they improve your build through your weapon in some way. Runes intuitively make sense as they bolster you stats outright. What used to be set-bonuses that defined builds became Relics. Having a dedicated slot to what can be a build defining effect from an RP perspective also makes intuitive sense. The issue is that we had to roll in a lot of the passive benefits from the old rune bonuses. Everyone misses the parrot and the golem, nobody really cared about Thief runes coming back.
      I think you're looking at relics backwards from how they're intended. Imo you're supposed to look at a relic effect that you enjoy the RP and loop of and then build your character around that and your Grandmaster traits. Everyone falls into the trap of viewing the relic as a last optimization of an already strong build rather than a starting point.
      Later in this stream you talk about Grandmaster traits not being interesting or build defining enough and I agree wholeheartedly in a lot of cases. Look at Chrono in PvE atm where the BoonDPS build almost doesn't change but it applies a whole different type of effect. While this is healthy from a class homogeny perspective (if the goal is to equalize boon access, which it should be for solo players), it's awful from an RP and gameplay loop perspective. Why is speeding up the literal actions of my teammates and cutting down the cooldowns for my teammates the same rotation and gameplay loop?
      In my ideal world builds would come from unique and strong interactions between your relic, your elite spec, and your grandmaster trait. From there all other traits and stats would funnel in to support these decisions. I would also say that core specs without elite specs should get a bonus for being slotted in place of an elite spec, bringing back the fantasy of playing a core class. Slotting your bottom traitline should improve the core line in a meaningful way. Why is the best minion master Necromancer build on Reaper, a class that is built around buffing itself and its weapon? Imagine if Death Magic was super juiced from an Minion Master perspective if you took it instead of your elite spec? Maybe your shroud is taken away in favor of more minion skills as well as ways to control them like Ranger/Mech pets?
      All this to say, class identity is absolutely not solved by new stats and dismantling relics. Leaning into Relics and Grandmasters is absolutely the way forward. This is coming from someone who wants more stat types (5 stat combinations?

    • @GW2Pseudo
      @GW2Pseudo  Месяц назад +1

      @Wraithbound1 That's very well thought out & written! It sounds like you mostly play PvE. And from that perspective yes, the "optimal" sigils are rather boring. But on the PvP side, certain ones like cleansing, strength, energy (unfortunately,) are so strong *because* they have unique non-numbers effects. I don't want relics dismantled', so apologies if that was your take-away I'll try to be clearer in my edit. Nor do I want power creep to dictate that new-hypothetical sigils would be anywhere close to a relics' power level. You can only ever equip one relic, so I just want more than 1 new piece to play with each release, because I think the relic options are already completely over-saturated compared to their gear counterparts.
      But that's also an interesting way of looking at it I suppose. I was spoiled by some Runes having cool 6-slot interactions, aka. Leadership, Antitoxin etc. I'm surprised that you can't get the stat combination(s) that you want with a mix of existing celestial gear (since it has everything) + other mixes. And 5 stat by definition would definitely be power creep, (because it would likely have 10% more stats than 4 stat, which has 10% more than 3 stat.) But I'm also the one who would like 2-stat gear pieces for WvW that's 10% less than 3-stat gear, which would doubtless be it's own form of power creep. So I can see where you're coming from! 😄

    • @Wraithbound1
      @Wraithbound1 Месяц назад +1

      @ I can agree with relics being oversaturated, I think any that aren’t a unique and interesting effect should go tbh. Thief, Claw, Fractal, Aristocracy, Monk etc are just far less interesting than things like Karakosa, Stormsinger, Beehive, Sunless. We agree that those 6-slot interactions should have been moved over to the current system though.
      I should be clear that I would be fine with new runes and sigils being added, even if they’re not incredibly powerful. New toys are still new toys. I can also agree that things like cleansing and energy are too strong. For context, I have played enough sPvP to craft the legendary backpack and will live in 2v2 and 3v3 off-seasons. I’ll often max out my ranked pops for a season. Honestly any of the on-swap sigils are kind of incredible, especially if you play Rev. It’s too bad I have to give up might, Vuln, poison, etc on swap just because Condi cleanse and endurance are too valuable.
      Celestial has a few stats that I just don’t really value for personal open world building, namely Expertise, Vitality, and Healing Power. I’ve been obsessed with creating hybrid damage open world builds for solo play. Condi builds feel terrible to me in OW since they take forever when farming mobs and can’t really take advantage of Zakiros. Pure power builds fall apart in open world against enemies that require you to do their mechanics, like soloing legendary bounties. Being able to walk away, lose uptime, and continue ticking condis is really good. Celestial is just kind of bad at both options because hitting crit cap is hard on classes that aren’t Ranger, Engi, Necromancer, or Virtuoso but it also doesn’t supply enough condition damage to make taking it in open world that valuable imo. You’re almost always better off with Ritualists gear for open world stuff. Finally, I really dislike Vitality for solo builds. Whether or not the numbers back me up I feel as though having more Damage Reduction and lower health both makes survivability easier while also increasing the efficiency of incoming healing. I know Conditions ignore toughness, but there are plenty of Condi cleanses on every class that are more than sufficient for open world.
      Basically I want Grieving with concentration so that I can combine it with Demolisher. I can’t find a way to make that work in the current system that doesn’t compromise way too hard.

    • @GW2Pseudo
      @GW2Pseudo  Месяц назад +2

      @Wraithbound1 Makes sense on all accounts. & Re: Grieving + Concentration, if you haven't already, I'd Try Diviner's + Sinister. It may not be the dream 5-stat you're looking for. But Diviner's is main 4-stat Concentration for baffling reasons, so you should end up with a decent amount of both Condition Damage and Ferocity as sort of you "secondary stats" 😄

    The new weapons and relics are crazy, sometimes I see someone running something genuinely unique and I like that, but in general weapons/relics plug massive gaps in builds and make things work that shouldn't. E.g. the fact that Harbinger with speed relic and sword can outrun 80% of specs, so now the tanky slow thing has no weakness OR
    I play a power virt build in wvw and with shield and mimic I can invuln/block for like 11 sec straight (which is warrior level nuts), so ultra glassy spec, no downside because of non spec weapons (rivers heals me and reduces cooldowns so can do the above more frequently 😅)

    the lack of class flavor is ultimately what killed gw2 for me. I was loving EoD / Bladesworn / Mechanist being op as a support even. But once everything got all the boons I just stopped caring. I really like guild wars 2 tho so I hope they fix it soon so I can come back

      I just wish at the very least they had picked say, [Adept]/[Major] traits to "Do Support Boon X" instead. I can't imagine whoever actually*Designed* Specter, Bladesworn, Untamed etc. was incredibly thrilled about that.

      @GW2Pseudo  Месяц назад +2

      Honestly in WvW where the power level is a lot higher, it's not as bad. The main problem in PvP rn is that basically nothing else can a) Do what it does, or b) Counter-play it hard enough.

  • @ocean_bat
    @ocean_bat Месяц назад +1

    I feel like meta in pvp modes have devolved to high mobility with ports along with big aoe and multi hit attacks. Positioning and and timing attacks is way less important when you can port in and chain multi hitting aoe attacks.

    • @GW2Pseudo
      @GW2Pseudo  Месяц назад +1

      Some mobility' skills aka. direct ports need line of sight added to them imo, or some other way to counter-play them for sure. I'm not sure how exactly you do this though without kneecapping the adjacent spces that also use them. Maybe more of a wind-up/cast-time similar to Unnatural Traversal was the answer all along? lol

    Since you’re a self proclaimed GW2 build crafter, you will know the answer to this question better than most casual players. Do you think that it’s possible for Anet to make every weapon or combination of weapons when talking about one handed weapons, that each profession can use, viable in a build that would be capable of sustaining at least 85% of the DPS of the “meta builds?
    I know that certain weapons are intended as defensive or healing weapons for certain professions and elite specializations, but I still think that they should be able to provide a minimum level of DPS, if not 85%, what percent would you say is an acceptable minimum? I’d love to see a spreadsheet of every weapon and weapon combination for every profession, showing just the base numbers, as a starting point for calculating how much traits and other modifiers are affecting DPS for different professions and elite specializations. I personally don’t think that Anet has done a good job of balancing every weapon in the game and I would like to see them work on improving this aspect of GW2.
    Thanks for the new video, and Happy Holidays to you and everyone who plays GW2.

    • @GW2Pseudo
      @GW2Pseudo  Месяц назад +1

      Is there any other kind of build crafter? Is there an exam I could sit for or something lol (I 100% would.)
      More data would be lovely. Honestly that's a difficult question, and I think the very unsatisfying answer is: "It depends." For some classes with limited options' like Engi or Ele, or even Theif (with it's 1 support' weapon) yes the "support" variants need to be a little higher. But maybe with more aggressive stat scaling. (i.e. They don't do mad Power DPS or Healing raw) but scale aggressively the more you spec into' these stats. Similar to how they "fixed" Ranger's Maces after it was both out-performing other DPS weapons AND Healing weapons with just DPS stats.
      Happy Holidays as well! 😄

    • @traveling.down.the.road56
      @traveling.down.the.road56 Месяц назад +1

      @ Thanks for the reply. I guess I’m more disappointed that Anet hasn’t put more effort into balancing all weapons, so players would have more choices and there would be more builds that would be considered meta, or close enough to being meta that they would be perfectly acceptable in any group play.

    • @GW2Pseudo
      @GW2Pseudo  Месяц назад +1

      @traveling.down.the.road56 @traveling.down.the.road56 Not a problem! The reason I make videos and stream at all is that balance is a passion of mine, & I'd like to try to do my part to make some of the discussion around it less extreme and gate-keepy and more productive for everyone, even hopefully the Devs and ultimately the GW2 community! 😄
      Re: Weapon viability, I think they have, just not on Warrior, Thief and Engi. Each of the 3 were either underloaded or overloaded with Weapons. I don't have rationally for why this creates outliers of "not being adjusted since the sone age" though. But the 2 extremes, and Ele Pistol (which itself added 46 skills if you count all the Weave and Bullet variants) definitely seem to be things that ANet seems to be avoiding updating like the plague.

    Hey guys, I have started game recently, is there any good rewards for new players during wintersday event? I have got already some rare lvl80 gear which I can’t use rn, I see some customisation but dont know if I’m able to complete all events to get some rewards. I mean I tried almost every activities there and want move forward through the storyline. I had some experience in mmos, and understand that there is a lot of things for old players over there but its a mess in my head - how to separate what I can afford on such events and what not.

      Jumping Puzzle farming is quite popular for Gold. It's pretty accessible no matter what level you are! In general though I just work on whatever skins seem to catch my interest / I can afford! (The Wintersday ones seem quite a bit more $$ than other festivals.) -- But this also means the Jumping Puzzle farming will be more $$$ profit for you as well!! 😄

    eh willbender has been god build much more than anything for so long and its not being nerfed at all, the power dps is too high and cds on port skills are too low and elite should not full reset all f cds instead just 75% or something.
    Virtuoso invuln frames and mesmer spear damage is also too high.
    Some thief skills still hit waaay too hard and axe is still unfun to play against as people play permastealth with it. Some catalyst builds generate way too many boons and the vindicator evade frame chain is a bit too long, some condi harb is a bit too tanky for its dps output.
    These are the main culprits atm in roaming.
    For zergs holo hits way too hard and explosive entrance should have half the damage it currently does.
    Tempest needs nerfs on something it has too many tools, guardian needs to have less durations. The scrapper needs to has less self sustain on healing builds. In general tone down instand immon and perma resistance spam.
    This is all they need to do.

    balance is pretty horrible there are way too many builds with high burst bulds direct dmg and condi dmg inaddition to some just broken dmg output skills since years
    anet really needs to disable elitespecs in pvp as they are unable to balance the game

    • @GW2Pseudo
      @GW2Pseudo  Месяц назад +1

      Curious, is this opinion only PvP-based, or would you say it extends to the rest of the game as well? Would there not then just be a couple core' specs, relics, or stats that would the become oppressive or meta' in PvP?

    • @wanya6046
      @wanya6046 Месяц назад +1

      @@GW2Pseudo I don't play much pve these days I think elitespecs and alot of builds are not so much of a problem there besides the obvious power creep over the years which make some fights extremly fast where in the past it would have taken alot longer
      for world bosses this can feel a bit stupid for raids its probably ok as its easier to carry people who otherwise would not make it
      disabling eltie specs in pvp would also help newish players alot
      as it would limit the amount of animations to look out for reducing the amounts of different flashyness ingeneral would be a good thing when the whole screen is just a blurry mess there is not much to learn from
      so no idea why anet is going for push we already had a team deathmatch map which did not work

    • @GW2Pseudo
      @GW2Pseudo  Месяц назад +1

      @wanya6046 It's an interesting take not a bad one. It very much helps to know where you're coming from. Animation clutter is definitely a big thing, especially in PvP. So it would be nice to extend those "tone down allies' animations" options to available PvP animations as well.
      The burst as we've both said is indeed insane, but so is the tank. I largely however think this is the fault of the powercreep of relics + adding a ton of free defensive utility to classes that didn't have it before and can this now build full glass (aka. Mesmer Shield to Virtuoso, etc.) I also do think a core only' league would be insanely popular. And while people probably wouldn't go for it globally (since they paid $ in many cases specifically for those specializations) it might help remind people and ArenaNet what they liked about OG combat and each core profession. 😄
      Also Push isn't a deathmatch style at all. It's more of an Escort/Payload from Team Fortress 2 or Overwatch. And while I think it will have many of the same problems as regular PvP, i.e. rank gatekeeping, balance, etc. I'm glad to see ArenaNet "just trying stuff" *before* investing a bunch of time and dev $ into it, in this instance at least!
