I had a different problem. At 6.36 you can see at the bottom a white plastic arm that slides forward and back. For repair, you are supposed to push it back. At the front it has a shelf and a black nodule on the neighbouring plastic sits on it. As the white plastic piece slide forward, the shelf is kept from rising up by the nodule, which travels its length. On mine the very end of the white plastic had obviously got caught and snapped off. When the white plastic moved forward the shelf wasn't under the nodule and hit it, jamming, causing the process to stop and the motors to grind. It was too fiddley to fix so I ended up gluing something against the other wall that the white plastic sat against, just pushing it sideways a few millimetres, which resulted in a tilt that pushed the shelf down.
@@middleeasterngamer9985 you might not need the help but If that part is broken your might as well just buy a disc drive replacement cause I had the same issue after dropping my ps4 spent 2 days trying to fix it gave up and bought a new disc drive popped it in and i have a brand new ps4
Had to do this I literally just finished come to find out my son put a card in the disc tray every time I would turn it on it would make the ejecting sound because obviously it was attempting to push the card out . Works like it’s brand new now 🤦🏽♂️
Thank you for the video. I looked through many posts and videos about this problem but couldn't find a solution. My PS4 (old version), upon booting without a disk in it, it makes a sound as if it trying to insert/eject a disc until the blue light stops flashing. If I try to insert while the blue light is flashing I can, but it makes a loud cranking sound for about 6~8 seconds then stops. The system doesn't recognize that there's a disc inside. If I press the eject button it ejects the disc. But, I can no longer insert a disc back in. I open the machine and looked at the parts and everything seems to be in proper order. Even manually inserting a disc with the side screw work, and disc spins freely. Do you have any guesses onto what is happening? I would REALLY appreciate it!!!
My rollers dont even roll i dont know what to do i cleaned and everything. I used the manuell ejecting screw so often that it wont tighten and it isnt turning anymore
Hi just wondering if you can help me or give me any advice my ps4 is working OK but the problem I'm having is when I go to put a game in it starts making a clunking noise and it sounds like it's trying to spitt out the disc iv no idea what to do or what is rong do you have any advice on what to do thanks
Im having the same issue except i took the cover off and nothing wrong. my ps4 is already vertical, I cleaned it and i updated the disc drive. my ps4 still says unrecognized disc. Only for blueray, Dvds work.
@@sebcio0926 you will need to search for a different video. What you described is not in this one. Im sorry man. I cant help you. Ive never had that problem
Morg - Pyro I ended up deeply cleaning the disc drive and made sure everything was right and in place and it worked. Any other video I seen that had the same problem as me ended up just people opening the ps4 to its disk drive and making sure it’s cleaned and all is in place

Is the repair process the same with the slim?
I haven’t tried the slim one , but it should be similar. Thanks
I’ve done everything here countless times and it still doesn’t read my disc, any help?
Thats a different kind of problem. This is for if the drive does not take the cd into the ps4 at all. You have a disc read error.
