    BOUNCY Aevin Dugas boasts the world's biggest afro - measuring an incredible four-and-a-half foot around. It takes TWO days to wash and dry and has got so big the 38-year-old struggles to see out from it. The Louisiana native has become a cult hero in her hometown and says everyone from toddlers to grandmothers have been inspired to 'go natural'. However, her record-breaking hair also brings its fair share of trouble. She is unable to drive a car with it up and also ties it back when out on first dates in case it 'overwhelms' them.

    Producer: John Balson

    Why am I tearing up? That was so beautiful and inspiring! She is gorgeous, and she makes me want to go natural. It's awesome to see a black woman fully embrace herself. As a fellow black woman, it can be so easy to just give in, and attempt to look like how society perceives a woman should look (long, flowing hair, without a kink or a curl), but seeing a woman who has gone natural and loving her blackness, just makes me feel empowered!

    • @kallahari7542
      @kallahari7542 5 лет назад +12

      It's good to stand your ground and be different. If you want your hair straight for fashion then do that, but if you like your natural hair then wear that. It's all about personality, if you got a strong personality society can't get to you. Just stay true to your selve and your own needs.

    I got mad respect for that kind of dedication. I cut off my afro after a couple of years because:
    1 - The amount of attention required to take care of it.
    2 - You get hair everywhere.
    3 - When I have the fro I can't wear a hat - when I wear a hat I can't flex the fro.
    Tip to white people, when you touch the fro (yes every white person wants to touch it), don't grab it and definitely don't try to get your hand in there - just feel around the surface. In other words, don't fuck up the fro.

      Miss Obesity Rehab But if you were born an African American woman, you should embrace it. You shouldn't be like "My hair is so nappy I hate it, Imma go get weave or a wig to get my hair looking like a white girls hair cuz their hair is beautiful." African american hair can be beautiful too, as seen in the video. She didn't have to change herself by getting a long wig or weave. She looks great with her natural hair, and she has a LOT of it too!

    The only reason I chemically treated my hair was that growing up it was incredibly painful always having it combed and brushed to the point I started to hate it. I've been thinking about going natural in the future, but that's up in the air, especially since my natural hair is ridiculously thick.
    Edit: I big chopped in December! Turns out my hair isn't as difficult as I perceived it to be, now that I'm in charge of taking care of it.

      I understand what you're saying. My hair is very course. Before I got my relaxer, when my mother would wash my hair, my hair would draw up like a sponge. It took a long time to comb out. My mother would wash it and braid it up at night and then the next morning, she would press it. But you know what, my hair was so healthy before I got my relaxer.

      ***** I don't wear weave, that's first off and secondly, I don't have to flatiron or style my hair often like others, I rarely moisturize it and eat well and it shows. Lastly, since I take good care of my hair I don't frequently have to go to the extremes to keep it in good condition.

When we all know you're just jealous because your hair is thin, so is you lips and you age like milk bitch.

      our hair grows like that too in some cases . the difference is that when it does we don't try to make it into something gigantic to show off. We TAME it as we should so as not to be a spectacle or a side show freak. We work at being neat and nice at work and at school and when we don't we get sent home to groom ourselves. BLacks on the other hand use this excuse of oh well it grows like that so hey you have to look at the mess whether you want to or not because hey uh.. WE BLACK and therefore can do whatever we please and if we get called on it and asked to groom ourselves properly we scream THAS RACISSS!!!!. so sick of black PRIVILEGE. and as to me.... lol...... I have long thick thick dark hair... and full lips.. all given to me by my Mexican mother so I don't know who you think you are talking to but as to jealousy? oh TRUST ME ON THIS. you have no idea how relieved I am NOT to be like you. And I am aging very well thank you... LOL you crack me up.. you don't even bother to look at me before you start spewing your same old tired truly jealous hate... And no .. sweetheart you don't have to get nasty weaves and such.. just cut that mess short or get tiny braids but please spare the rest of us this so called natural look.
