Nostalgia can only go so far, it’s your enthusiasm and genuineness that brought me to this channel in the first place. Looking forward to the eventual Chappell Roan video (hopefully). Would selfishly be cool to also get a 1975 or Bleachers/Jack Antonoff video at some point as well.
As a pop punk diehard… I’m actually really looking forward to this change! Mainly because I just enjoy your storytelling and you approach topics in a way I don’t really see from other channels. I hope you enjoy the new topics & can rest assured that fans will continue watching!
Omg! I shifted from the emo and scene straight into the pop girlie's! I can't wait to see where the channel goes in 2025! Your videos have always brought me so much comfort and joy and I'm so happy you're sticking around ❤
I think a perfect band to fully transition into this is Mariana’s Trench. They are the perfect combination of what you used to talk about and you want to talk about. They have roots and influence in both emo and pop, with their clear biggest influence being Queen.
Mad respect to you Mr. Cozy! I absolutely loved your emo era videos but I'll be here for this next chapter! Love your vibe and honestly just enjoy listening to you talk about music whether it's my fav artists or someone I've never or rarely listened to. Keep on chuggin man Edit: Another thought on the matter, this will also make me respect some new music/artists I typically wouldn't go for. For all I know you could expand my music horizons man lmao. Hype for you do be doin what you've been wantin to do!
Cosy, you showed me last year with the Kesha, Soulja Boy, ect. videos that I’ll still love your videos no matter what. I realized that it’s not about “who or what” band/artist you’re talking about rather “how” you talk about them. Because you still kept the same style of video in terms of how you talk about everything and break everything down, it was just referencing different styles of music from what we are used to with you. However, I still enjoyed it, because I was learning something new but through the lens of something that was familiar, aka you and your video style. I will continue to watch all of your videos and learn something new about artist, even if the artist isn’t my style, because I just love learning cool music career stories, regardless of artist style. Keep it up cozy, I’m still here.
I think I am part of the portion that drops off now so thanks for your videos man they sure entertained. Someone did ask for Dangers day though so I will second that on my way out. GL.
I agree on doing Danger Days - Danger Days was the pop album My Chemical Romance wanted to make, instead of trying to figure out the next evolution in being dark, edgy, mysterious, and cool. Seems like it would be pretty relevant to Cozy himself to dive into and relate his own growth and evolution now parallel to theirs at that time. It was an awesome album. A fun album.
It’s funny, I’m about to turn 28 as well and I’m in my nostalgia phase for sure. I play guitar and have been learning a bunch of songs from Memphis may fire’s challenger/unconditional era and August burns red messengers/constellations era. I’ve ALWAYS listened to that stuff though. Mom, i can confirm now 15 years or more later, it was not a phase. That being said, i still have a soft spot for some pop/rap (post Malone and similar artists) so ill still be watching some videos
Good for you, Cozy. I came for some BC13 or I See Stars video during COVID. Stayed for you and your personality. I throw your videos on just to listen to most of the time because it’s like talking music with the homie. As a dude into hardcore and mathcore, I’m ready to learn about all sorts of music with you.
Full support this Cozy. Much like you, I grew up listening to niche MySpace hardcore bands and what not. However, I don’t listen to those bands much anymore. I’ve never considered myself a pop fan but over the last few years it’s been creeping in to my playlists. In fact, short and sweet was my top album of the year. People change, taste ls change. I’m fully here for this and excited to get your take on things
Mr. Representative, thank you for everything! I’ve loved or content since day 1. I’ve enjoyed the way you have these stories and being a (former?) emo kid who’s not too much younger than you, I’ve loved the nostalgia your videos gave brought me. I’ve been listening to different music myself and I’ve been called a poser by some of my closest friends. I know it can be hard to publicly admit that so I commend you for your bravery & dedication. That being said, I’m not a big fan of most modern pop but I’m excited for you to be able to turn over a new page! While I won’t be watching most of those newer vids, I’ll still stay subbed because I still love your content! I’ll also still rewatch most of your older videos and pop in for those Fall Out Boy, panic, paramore videos! Cheers to the future!
The classic Cozy format of insanely detailed history via multiple tangents is what I'm here for, I'll listen to you talk about paint if that's what you want to talk about
Tbh fair, the myspace scene was for teenage girls, sure it was for us dudes too, but still very much so for teenage girls. So I really dont think its all that different, atleast in that sense lol
I was never a scene kid or whatever but your ability to talk passionately about about music is always appreciated. So talk your talk dude!! I look forward to your future vids!!
I probably started watching you because you covered a band I liked, but in all honesty I'd find myself watching videos about bands I didn't like a single song from just because I enjoyed your storytelling and passion. So this is a very welcome change, and maybe I'll even get some great music recs out of it. :)
I found your channel probably right around 2020/21, I think the first video of yours I ever saw was "The Rise and Fall of BryanStars". The timing was perfect because while I never knew who that even was, I found the video when slogging through spontaneous 12 hour shifts at work (I got asked to stay late and cover for people almost daily). So I could go hide in the office and watch these 30min-1hr+ long videos, some about bands I never listened to (NeverShoutNever) and some about bands I used to be obsessed with (Chiodos, etc). Always had a huge amount of respect for the work you put into the deepdives; but I can understand losing interest in pouring so much time and energy into those things as well. Wishing nothing but the best! (It does feel like you're breaking up with me though)
I super relate to what you said about using nostalgia to cope when you don't feel happy with the place you're at. I've often wondered whether that's healthy or not. Regardless, watching your emo stuff has been a part of that for me, and I've enjoyed it immensely. As a newer subscriber, I'm not wild about this change. But I admire your courage and honesty in following your passion, and wish you all the best. I'll still stop in from time to time because I enjoy your personality and passion. Plus I have many old videos I still need to watch!
happy new year :D so glad to see this update! when i found you at the time, i was also feeling super nostalgic and longing for the emo/scene/warped tour past i lived in as a teen. i think it's so cool to see how both of our music tastes have evolved. i've also moved past alternative music and now love 70s-90s r&b and funk, a lot of stuff my parents played when i was a kid :') glad to see you plan on making new content!
Cozy the timing on this is actually crazy because as an aging scene/emo kid myself I was just saying the other day that I wanted to expand my pop music horizons. So I am eager to see what you put out this year
Hey I'm in the same boat as you! I was in a nostalgic period when I first found your videos, and I really enjoyed getting the history of the alternative scene from someone who was actually following it in its peak. My current tastes are also going into a pop direction these days, so I'm actually STOKED for the future. Your style of commentary gives such a full picture of the music scene, and I'm excited to see an expanded scope.
Totally agree on 2024 being an incredible year for pop music - cool music is cool music, and this is pop’s best year in a while. Looking forward to the new shit!
I feel ya man. 28 here myself and grew up about the same plus hxc and metal core ect. But about 5ish years ago started going into jpop/kpop and honestly have never looked back 🙆 Change happens, stuff got old and stale. So, excited to see the progress amd change!
Came for the nostalgia, stayed for the journey and genuine interesting perspective. I might not watch every video from here out but I’m not abandoning ship ❤🎉
I'm glad you are going to be doing what your passionate about. Your enthusiasm is definitely what makes your videos interesting. Personally I think you should do videos about whoever you want. I wouldn't put a "label" on what you have to do. You're vibing with pop right now so that's what you mostly do but if you come across a random other artist outside of what you mostly listen to (as most of us do) just drop the video on them anyways. Just have fun talking about the stuff you like and are passionate about!! Looking forward to whatever you dive deep into next!!
I really dislike this change but I'm going to continue watching simply because I like your personality, and have found your previous videos about pop artists very entertaining. I just dislike that we'll never get to hear you cover a lot of great nostalgic bands in favor of pop artists that have already been discussed to death.
Lol as a 29 year old dude and for the first time in like 10 years I've finally found myself going back to the music I grew up with in like a non nostalgic way. But in like a genuine "this music is actually great" way. I cant stop listening to silverstein all of a sudden for the first time since I was like 15. I'm pretty much 30. Someone help me
I'm the same age as cozy also grew up on the same music, I don't even really listen to bands I did in high school or middle school. I got into heavier music . I love your vibe so ill still watch your videos cause you're great at what you do
I respect your decision and the fact that you no longer enjoy the content you've made, but tbh thats why I followed you. So this is where I unsubscribe and move along. No bad blood and I wish you the best.
The Family Force 5 video makes a lot more sense now lol. I’m glad you’re going to be talking about what you’re interested in at this point in your life! I’m always gonna love your old videos but I’m excited for the new stuff too! Happy new years!!!
I started watching your channel years ago with the Jonny craig series since dgd is my favorite band (I agree with your dtbm2 statement it's my favorite dgd record !) and you've remained one of my favorite youtubers since and have gotten me into so many new bands. No one does it quite like you Julian and I'm exited to see your future content about what you truly enjoy. Thanks for everything and keep going Cozy!
Excited for the new era. Love your videos, they got me into thinking more critically about 00s music myself. But big respect for moving on now it's time to.
I salute you, no use making videos on topics that you're not passionate about. I am excited for the next chapter of the Cozy Representative. At least you're not taking the Finn McKenty route and become the Poser Representative.
i’ve always loved watching your videos, not just for the nostalgia, but also the storytelling. the way you told these artists’ stories made me excited to go check out their music. you’re one of my favourite youtubers and i’ll still be watching. i’m looking forward to this new era and selfishly, i’d love to see you cover Gracie Abrams, Olivia Rodrigo and Hey Violet
Hey dude, always loved the videos, I’ll probably still be around even if it isn’t stuff I listen to that much, but we’ll see. Either way, best of luck! Would still love to hear you talk about the maines later career if they fit your new theme enough 😁.
Do you sir! Loved your old videos and reminiscing on my old music tastes with you. I remember watching your FOB and PATD videos and you mentioning a tour and being like "yeah i was there!!”. As a 32 yr old myself DO WHAT YOU WANT/your current interests. Wishing you the best! But I'll stay tuned.
Happy new year! I’m super interested to see this new direction you’ll be going in. I found your channel about a year ago I think, I was essentially kinda going through the same thing you said you were going through when you started the channel and rediscovering a lot of the music I loved in middle school as I was starting college, which was all in that 2000s emo wheelhouse (MCR, FOB, Panic!). It ended up developing into a huge interest of mine, far surpassing the interest I had in the music originally, especially everything Decaydance-related. I’m also just super interested in learning about music and musicians in general, especially coming from people who were big fans for a long time and/or were around to experience the subject as it was happening. Your videos had that, and I also just love your style of video creation; your structure, pacing, editing, the way you talk, etc. Your videos are nice and chill, which I much prefer over the fast talking and flashy editing that’s more common on RUclips now. I’d say you’re probably my favorite creator I’ve found on here in this genre of music-related videos! I’ve actually been watching a lot of your videos recently; I got some Lego sets for Christmas and your videos have been the perfect accompaniment to listen to while I build them lol. I may not listen to a whole lot of pop music, but I do like Chappell Roan and the few Sabrina Carpenter songs I’ve heard, and I’m super interested to hear you talk about them. I think this pivot is for the best; I and hopefully most other people would rather you be taking about music you actually like and have an interest in instead of burning yourself out talking about stuff you don’t have that interest in. That’s all I guess, I’ll 100% be sticking around, excited for the new era!! :D
Would love a charlie xcx video. Love ya for being true to yourself new year new you. Been watching since the NSN! Videos been wondering why i haven't seen your vids on my recommendations last year
We all love you ❤ You actually do make me feel cosy! Whatever you decide to do, I’ll be here for it. I’d listen to anything 😊 Great new year to you! Hope it’s everything you want, need and more.
I get it, man.. I've hit the brick wall in my career a few times. I always seem to get through it, but the burnout is definitely real. I went more of the Indy rock route after the early 2000's era, but I feel like I listen to about anything and everything including hip-hop and pop and whatnot, my go-to's will always be 90's rock and Indy, but hell just last year I saw everything from Billie Eilish and Lana Del Rey to Knocked Loose at Lollapalooza, lol. Just keep being yourself and do what makes you happy and the audience will follow!
Music tastes change and thats fine! Maybe i'm not interested in the new artists you'll be talking about, but thats okay! I didn't know half the bands you talked about before. I enjoy your retrospective videos and hope you'll do more of those. But at the end of the day you should make and talk about the things you like!
I gotta applaud you dude , I’ve been watching your channel for a long time . A lot of the rock music I used to listen to, honestly , I don’t listen to anymore . That’s awesome that you’ve been jammin to R&B, pop music lately , cause Im in that same spot .
I know you said this isn’t a Finn kinda thing but I can’t help feeling like this is the absolute best way to do it and if he would’ve done something like this people would have some respect for him. Fuck yeah cozy I’m super excited to see you evolve the channel and do the stuff you like, good luck homie! 🤙🤙🤙
I kinda understand. I still love this metal/metalcore/deathcore stuff. New bands and albums from crabcore are horrible mostly these times (but there are some good stuff hidden). But even I jump to another genere completely. In my case it is Classical Music (baroque, classicism, romantism, some parts of modernism and renesance). So I feel you in this way. But unfortunately, this old stuff make me soo sick with new radio pop, soo thank you for amazing videos about my post-hardcore heroes, and I will see, if I will be able to watch you chanel again 😅
Glad to have ya back, Cozy! I unfortunately have 0 interest in pop or R&B, but i still plan to check in and i wish you the absolute best! You have always been a calming and wholesome channel in a sea of drama focused garbage. I hope this transition takes you to the top, good luck!
Oh that’s awesome actually me personally i shifted from pop punk to finnish synth pop and 70s folk pop for some reason (I don’t even speak finnish) and have listened to some chappell and like sabrinas radio stuff i heard so that channel shift will be really fun to follow it would be weird if music taste stayed the same forever tbh so hell yeah go for it
I was watching one of your videos yesterday and starting to worry about your absence. Glad to see you're doing well and excited about the next thing! You have a great channel and as a classically trained musician/pop girly-turned-pop punk enthusiast, your videos helped me learn about a genre I only recently got into (I listened to my first My Chem song and learned who Ryan Ross and Patrick Stump are for the first time in 2024). Welcome to the girly-pop side of life!
Your videos have always cheered me up, dude (besides the video where I found out about Cady Groves :'( RIP) I think your charisma is perfect for videos regarding pop music, so go for it :) I'm here for it!
I think beyond even just your alternative niche, people gravitated towards your channel due to your propensity for discussing and uplifting artists that had fallen into complete obscurity, or were just plain weird. It'd be a bit of a shame if you completely lost that in favor of only talking about mainstream artists who are already discussed to exhaustion, maybe throw in some lesser-known pop and R&B acts if that's more up your alley now. Take care.
i’m so happy mr. representative!! pls keep doing whatever your heart tells you and ill keep watching,, your personality and charisma rlly brought me in in the first place so i think a lot of ppl will stick around for whatever comes next,, i can’t wait for the sabrina vid 🙏🏾🙂↕️
6:45 It's funny you say that. My musical tastes have also shifted to pop music. Kamikaze from Carly Rae Jepsen's The Loveliest Time album was recommended to me on Spotify last year, and that album completely consumed my life. I've also leaned into more funk and jazz music in the past couple of months, which has changed my listening habits. I'm glad to hear your tastes have evolved as well. I'll have to give Chappell Roan and Lana Del Ray a listen in the future.
Nice, I hear you! I think it's so important to expand your music taste and check out stuff you never thought you would like. I think it's so beneficial, and plays a part in evolving as a person too. I've been super into that lately haha. I would check out the Lana Del Rey album "Born To Die" , it will knock your socks off!
super excited for your new cozy rep era! dovetails my interests (FBR/decaydance + top 40 pop girlies) perfectly! also i really think it takes integrity to pursue the thing that'll make you happy over what feels "comfortable" and safe. so i think it's rad you're moving in a new direction. :)
Super excited man ! I'll keep watching no matter what you talk about at this point, I mean most of us are here for YOU more than the bands or topics themselves!
(Not much of a commenter but I’ll give it a shot) not to call you fall out boy but it’s kinda like how that band departed to pop music and grow because if they were to keep making pop punk it would be authentic which maybe describes why you like fall out boy cos you like change in general! (P.s if you want a smooth transition from hardcore emo/punk/metal to pop culture drake is lowkey emo so do with that what you will)
I definitely showed up for the nostalgia but nostalgia is a crutch, uncritical support for you on this move, incredibly excited to see what you do next!
I was like “oh boy! I haven’t seen this guy in a while! I wonder what early 2000s emo or power pop band he will talk about next!” Lmao. I love pop too tho so I’m looking forward to new videos either way
Regardless what direction your channel goes, I'll be sticking around. Thank you for such an amazing EFFORT for being THOROUGH on your research covering topics of artists in general. I'm sure your coverage of non-rock artists will be just as good as your other vids. Happy 2025, my man!
Do what makes you happy man. I'm not into modern day pop, but 80s pop allllllll fuckinggg dayyyy bro! My favorite Artists are those emo bands, but my favorite musician and song writer is Prince
Nah foreal nostalgia-farming has gotten sooo annoying to see. There have been so many great new sounds and artists breaking through the past few years. I’m excited to hear you discuss them
Nostalgia can only go so far, it’s your enthusiasm and genuineness that brought me to this channel in the first place.
Looking forward to the eventual Chappell Roan video (hopefully). Would selfishly be cool to also get a 1975 or Bleachers/Jack Antonoff video at some point as well.
thank you!
big 1975 fan so i agree as well!

They have roots and influence in both emo and pop, with their clear biggest influence being Queen.
oh big agree on this one!! Would LOVE to see a video on them
aye tru i been waiting for this
Came here to say this! 100% agreed
Gonna miss OG Cozy Warped Tour videos 😢
they will always be there for you if you need em! haha
@ I still watch them from time to time! Just never delete / hide them :)
"still be talking about fall out boy, panic at the disco" AUDIBLE CHEERING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:))))))
As a former "not like other girls girl" and Chappell Roan superfan I am so excited for the pop era
I'm looking forward to the new videos! Changing tastes in your 20s is so relatable.
thank you! i feel you haha
Come for the nostalgia, stay for the Cozy.
Mad respect to you Mr. Cozy! I absolutely loved your emo era videos but I'll be here for this next chapter! Love your vibe and honestly just enjoy listening to you talk about music whether it's my fav artists or someone I've never or rarely listened to. Keep on chuggin man

I think this is a cynical reaction. It's not about artists being "talked about to death" lol
@vitaminwater9662 I only mean that there are a lot more videos on Maroon Five than there are Alesana.

Lemme tell you this, if there’s a Mariah Carey video, I’m there
I'm the same age as cozy also grew up on the same music, I don't even really listen to bands I did in high school or middle school. I got into heavier music . I love your vibe so ill still watch your videos cause you're great at what you do
At least you’re taking a better approach than the Punk Rock MBA.
That and this channel were my two main source of music info of this type of scene.
Thanks for everything and keep going Cozy!
thank you so much!! :)
I love this for you! Emo will never be a phase :b 2024 music was hecka awesome and felt so party rock if you know what i mean :) much love bro
Excited for the new era. Love your videos, they got me into thinking more critically about 00s music myself. But big respect for moving on now it's time to.
Excited to have you back! Whatever your music preferences are, we're here to support you. Keep making great content.
I totally guessed that this would be ur new era haha, interested to see what artists u cover
I'm just "Popping" in for somethin different y'all
I guess I'll show myself the door then :(
I salute you, no use making videos on topics that you're not passionate about.
Videos been wondering why i haven't seen your vids on my recommendations last year
You do you :) I like hearing you talk about things so I’ll still be watching🙏
Well, I just found your channel through The Cab deep dive, and now as you go into your next era, you're speaking my language.
We all love you ❤ You actually do make me feel cosy! Whatever you decide to do, I’ll be here for it. I’d listen to anything 😊 Great new year to you! Hope it’s everything you want, need and more.
I love New Found Glory and all the nostalgia it’s totally saving me right now too. Best of luck to you and I’ll be watching
Excited to see you do what you're passionate about - can't wait for the new videos!
We missed you Julian!!! I always appreciate your videos. Happy New Year brother.
6 years is crazy man congratulations brotha! 🤘
doing a One Direction deep dive would go craazzzyyy theres so much lore
Mila tequila did this, sooo good go watch!
Could you still make a video about The Ready Set tho ❤
time changes everything, but that doesn't mean it will be bad
Glad to have ya back, Cozy! I unfortunately have 0 interest in pop or R&B, but i still plan to check in and i wish you the absolute best! You have always been a calming and wholesome channel in a sea of drama focused garbage. I hope this transition takes you to the top, good luck!
I don't hate the idea. I'm staying connected. I've been a subscriber since 2019. I'm stoked for the new content. 🙌
wow you are an OG Cozy watcher! Haha thank you :)
@thecozyrep oh yeah ! Elder emo forsure ! Since 2003
Would you consider doing album reviews? You’re very analytical and a great communicator so I’d like to hear some of your takes on new music
Oh that’s awesome actually me personally i shifted from pop punk to finnish synth pop and 70s folk pop for some reason (I don’t even speak finnish) and have listened to some chappell and like sabrinas radio stuff i heard so that channel shift will be really fun to follow it would be weird if music taste stayed the same forever tbh so hell yeah go for it
happy new years !
i would love to know what you think of post malone!!!
I'm interested in the amount of variety we can get out of this.
Your videos have always cheered me up, dude (besides the video where I found out about Cady Groves :'( RIP) I think your charisma is perfect for videos regarding pop music, so go for it :) I'm here for it!
i just love listening to you talk about whatever you’re genuinely interested in. do what makes you happy!! looking forward to the future videos!!
Happy New Year. Looking foward to any cozy content. Would love if you cover some Dream Pop artists.
Dream pop and jangle pop he'd adore Cocteau Twins and The Sundays being fantastic bands in sure he'd love
My guy had me at gym class heroes
I'm fairly new to the scene and your videos helped me so much. Thank you ❤
I think beyond even just your alternative niche, people gravitated towards your channel due to your propensity for discussing and uplifting artists that had fallen into complete obscurity, or were just plain weird.
It'd be a bit of a shame if you completely lost that in favor of only talking about mainstream artists who are already discussed to exhaustion, maybe throw in some lesser-known pop and R&B acts if that's more up your alley now. Take care.
Respect brotha, love you & your content. you always got my support
i’m so happy mr. representative!! pls keep doing whatever your heart tells you and ill keep watching,, your personality and charisma rlly brought me in in the first place so i think a lot of ppl will stick around for whatever comes next,, i can’t wait for the sabrina vid 🙏🏾🙂↕️
excited for your new videos as someone who simultaneously enjoys metalcore, post-hardcore music and pop music
Super excited man ! I'll keep watching no matter what you talk about at this point, I mean most of us are here for YOU more than the bands or topics themselves!
Love you man! thanks for the support bro :)
why not pivot and talk about new emo bands?!?
Cause he doesn't listen to emo? lol
@ oh okay
I wonder what early 2000s emo or power pop band he will talk about next!”
Lmao.
You are soooo real for this!!!! Honestly people will come and will go sooo do what makes you happy ❤ i am so excited for this new era
Katy perry video was my favorite of the newer content been watching since 2020!
