I highly recommend Fargo. I think it's the most like Big Lebowski in how absurdly funny it is. Plus, Steve Buscemi gets a much bigger role (different character) in it. Also stars William H. Macy and Frances McDormand in major roles. Great stuff.
I finally get so many references! When I told my brother I was reacting to this movie, he told me "you are entering a world of pain". Of course I hadn't seen the movie yet so I was just like WTF?
The reason that Walter keeps telling Donny to shut up, is because in Fargo, Steve Buscemi's character never stopped talking. So the Coen Brothers wanted Donny to shut up. Apparently Buscemi thought it was funny.
I heard a theory somewhere, that Donny doesn't exist. Only in Walters head, since Donny and the Dude never have any direct interactions with each other. Buuuuut, when Donny gets his heart attack the Dude is there, and the whole ash-spreading scene wouldn't make sense if it was true, would it? But I just find it an interesting theory, and since hearing it I've really noticed that they actually never talk to each other.
I loved that the P.I. had been given a photo of the family farm by Bunny's parents thinking it would make her homesick but it looked like the most bleak, barren, monotone frozen wasteland anyone ever had the good fortune to escape.
Walter is based on the American screenwriter John Millius. He looks like him, wears the same glasses and beard and has the same militaristic approach to life. He calls himself a "Zen fascist". If you're cosplaying Walter, you might be confused for John Millius.
My favourite little detail about the movie is when you think about it, Walter is always right!! 😂, he’s not as crazy as we think he is, he was right about bunny faking the kidnapping, that it wasn’t her toe, the fake briefcase stuffed with cash, his only real mistake was he got over-confident thinking Lebowski could walk at the end 😂
In fairness the Dude first mentioned the possibility that the kidnapping was phony, Walter just grabbed the idea and wouldn't let go. He was right about the toe because he was committed to the kidnapping being fake and therefore rejected evidence suggesting otherwise. He is more, to put it properly, cynical about people and bull-headed. Add in the violence and he is just a typical American.
It was the perfect mix in some respects, the birth of easily accessible internet and digital tech but we weren't swamped by it. If someone told you about a new band for example you had to put a little work in to hear them and find out about them, not just stream them on Spotify. I was 13 in 1990 so it really was the decade of my teenage years and early twenties. It was a blast.
As an 86' kid, I agree with you, the 90's were fucking awesome, granted a lot of that is just the rose tinted glasses of youth and lack of responsibility, and of course some good ole American privilege, but still. On subsequent viewings, I've found it funnier and funnier. I think it's when you hear so many people quote something out of context that you've never seen that when you see the actual context, it doesn't hit you as funny and it probably should.
I completely agree with this. I rewatched the movie after this time, and liked it more actually. I thought it was funnier. I wasn’t trying to understand what was happening, I was just enjoying the ride.

Tell me about it christy great movie.
I think the first time I watched this, was after a lot of the hype, I may have come out thinking it was very funny, but MIGHT be SLIGHTLY overrated.
@@CristyReacts Another Coen Bros movie that gets funnier with subsequent watches is "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" But, it's pretty funny initially anyway. 😁
Simi Valley? Going further from the ocean for better sushi just seems wrong.
The drink is a White Russian and his shoes are jelly sandles, made for kis or women. Lol
I can’t do animal style fries they’re cool, but too much cheese
Ive been watching this movie for about 20 years. One of my favorites. Donnie is a figment of Walter's imagination. Just sayin.
He's not real. He's Walter's ptsd.
philip seymour hoffman is great in this movie
Edits are expected in a reaction video but I think you've got too much out this time
Hi Jim! Yeah, there was a longer version of this video but it got a copyright claim immediately, so I had to trim it down quite a bit :(
@@CristyReacts I know RUclips can be a beyotch & copyright but I had a comment about something
Great movie but what a shame that the best scenes were censored on your channel :(
You see what happens, Larry? This is what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps!
“Stressing in Columbian”. Don’t we call that Spanish? Lol! Good reaction though.
Walter! My Discord logo
She may have missed the point
Why are you wearing your wedding dress?
uuuhhhh,,,,,steve ahem buschemi,,,
Clerks and The Big Lebowski are the most wildly overrated movies in the history of American cinema
Ohh someone else recommended Clerks-- maybe I'll skip it. Quick question out of sheer curiosity... if TBL is so overrated, why are you out here watching reactions to it?
@@CristyReacts Ah, good question. I enjoy watching movie reactions in general, so they’re popping up in my feed all the time. I didn’t search for TBL reactions
makes sense@@fclefjefff4041
@@CristyReacts P.S. you ended up with a new subscriber 👍
Are you wearing a wedding dress
you talked over half the dialog
It's one of my early early reacitons, I used to do that a lot!
