      @heydrewskie 8 лет назад +43

      +Jane Doh No it's an issue. Because why do people not agree with abortion? Because they recognize the life of the unborn child. Therefore, there is an issue to be dealt with because 51% of the nation see abortion as MURDER. That's an issue; when half the country sees it one way, a crime, and the other does not - a "choice." There is then a fundamental crisis in the nation, a civil ISSUE. It was a slavery issue, a civil rights issue, and it's an abortion issue too.

    • @steverox87
      @steverox87 5 лет назад +1

      In response to the two previous replies, the government shouldn't tell anyone not to do drugs or sell their body. These choices harm the person alone and no one else. Why spend time and money trying to impose what we believe to be better choices? Murdering a grown human who is not a fetus is not equivalent to abortion. Abortion is not pretty and is very sad for the fetus and no one is saying it isn't, but not every baby conceived HAS to be born. You're not pregnant, it's not your baby, therefore your feelings on the matter do not count.

    • @ktracha1978

      @Lizzie Allen I agree, but I also acknowledge that these are two entirely unrelated situations. Again, not every baby conceived has to be born. Choosing not to keep a baby inside of you is a woman's right. You don't have to like it or agree with it, it's just the way it is. Personally, I'm not looking forward to overpopulation and the last thing this world needs is more kids with unfit, underprepared parents.

      A fetus is a child. A living child. You were once a child. Someone called you a fetus. There are all types of names for people. Is it right to kill children, elderly, adolescents, teens, dwarfs, albinos, obese, etcc??? So why kill a fetus? It's sick. Why do those mothers and some fathers of the murdered suffer with the guilt of what could have been for their dead kids? Why? You won't answer any of my questions.

    • @eikweifliusxdclnuisd

    • @vadagh
      @vadagh 9 лет назад +1

      Tifany Stills The law is still conflicted on the issue. Attack a pregnant woman on her way to an abortion clinic and her fetus dies you're charged with murder. Shouldn't it be assault and destruction of property? Why the confusion if the distinction is so simple?
      It's quite simple. The potential for life itself, is life.
      You and others like you think that by labeling things you're absolved of any thought. Call it a fetus and you remove the human connection. It might work for you but for some of us it isn't that easy to be ignorant.

    I know I am going to get a lot of back lash but that's ok! I do not think that abortion is the way to go. I totally feel like if you can't take care of the baby, then someone who is able and capable should take care of that baby (adoption). I do think there are those few exceptions to the rule, but what ever happened to sexual responsibility? If you don't want to have a baby, then do your part and protect yourself, otherwise why is running to an abortion clinic the first way to resolve this circumstance? If you cant afford a baby, then buy a pack of condoms, it's cheaper.

      lmao yes, because there is no such thing as "orphans" and every child ever put up for adoption gets a loving parent and they live happily ever after. Everyone protesting abortion should focus on the REAL issues and go adopt a child, stop complaining about paying taxes for low income families to feed & house their children, work to ban "abstinence only" sex education in schools and make sure people get accurate information about sex and get the resources they need. (yes that means free condoms and birth control)....of course most "pro-life" people are against this because then that means we would actually be solving the problem instead of slut-shaming women & that is obviously not as fun for them

    LET THIS SINK INTO YOUR HEAD. A woman has to carry an actual fucking creature human, in her stomach for approx 270 days, she has to push an average of 3 pounds out of the smallest hole in all of her body. She has to live with this human, take care of this human, and be this humans mother for the REST OF HER LIFE! She can go through things like post partum depression, she can die from giving birth, she has to pay good money to take care of this child, her body COMPLETELY changes, its almost as if shes in somebody elses skin, she has to breastfeed, her body is sore, she might not even have a baby she might go through heartbreak and have a miscarriage, she bleeds, shes in excruciating pain, the father will now forever be in her life, AND YOU'RE FUCKING TELL ME SHE CANT MADE THE CHOICE OF WHETHER SHE WANTS TO GO THROUGH THIS OR NOT? Matt TheDestroyer Yes men should get a say. However if you as a man want a factor in the woman's decision then it needs to be abundantly clear you are willing to be there for her and with her for the rest of that child's life. Plenty of men(not grouping you specifically) will demand a woman to give birth to his child and then take off. If you want a say in the decision then you need to be certain you are ready for the responsibility that comes with your addition to the choice.

If terminating a pregnancy becomes a felony, what should the punishment be and how would this punishment be administered? Making abortion a crime won't stop the practice, but will lead to the "back alley, coat hanger" ways of handling the situation. • @drunkenmick
      @drunkenmick 8 лет назад

      mylittlekittens It also varies by state. Some states prohibit abortions for gender selection purposes, such as when a mother wants a boy instead of a girl. The same goes for laws on abortions due to likelihood of Down Syndrome or avoiding having an interracial child. I imagine if scientists ever identify a "gay gene" and could tell expecting parents whether or not their child would be gay, there would probably be laws prohibiting abortions for the sole purpose of avoiding a gay baby, too. These laws seem self-contradictory though. How is it OK to have an abortion if you don't want a baby, but illegal to have an abortion if you just don't want a certain type of baby.

      @ryddelwearsahat 9 лет назад +6

      ..the moment you spoke about sexuality itself in a derogatory way, you lost your own argument, b/c consent to sex is not consent to reproduction.
      sexuality among humans actually has very, very little to do with actual reproduction, and is more of a social tool. we're not mindless animals, running around going in/out of heat only to breed. we're thinking, feeling actual people..
      so trying to reduce female sexuality to such low standards is sexist.
      also.. on what grounds should women be ashamed? is this all your opinion, or is there some actual grounding basis behind it? i mean.. dont get me wrong- you /are/ entitled to your own opinion.. but i'm curious exactly why a complete/total stranger thinks i should be ashamed of myself. like.. me, or literally any one of the how many millions of women who have had abortions. do you think you're psychic and know the circumstances of each woman?
      also, exactly how/why is rearing a child rewarding? you say that as if that is a universal fact.. like every single woman should reproduce to suit some standard, and if she doesn't, she is the opposite of selfless.. which would be selfish.
      you see, i have children. two of my own, and a third through adoption. i also work in social services with children and women. i deal with abortion, adoption, single parenting struggles, and also rape, abuse, molestation, drugs, ect.
      and i've yet to see a universal one-size-fits-all answer for OR against parenthood. b/c people aren't clone-robots. i even have real-life personal experience in abortion. so.. exactly on what grounds should a total stranger, myself or otherwise, be ashamed? just to make you feel self-righteous, or... do you have actual justification to back that up?

    • @Father.Beocca
      @Father.Beocca 9 лет назад +1

      ryddelwearsahat Look, the facts are the facts... when two people have sex there is ALWAYS a chance the female will get pregnant. There is an even hire chance when YOU know your cycle. "Hmm... my period ended over a week ago, time to read a book for a week." I'm sorry that the ownership of that responsibility falls heavily on the female but she will be the one carrying the baby that will cause permanent changes.
      .. and it's sad that you think sex a social tool.. we used to call people like that sluts (yes, the men too). When two people meet, you're suppose to shake hands not....
      I know, I'm not politically correct, nothing good comes from PC. Would you prefer someone says what you want to hear or what they'll be saying after you leave? I'd rather say what I mean and apologize later.
      Congrats on being employed but what is your point? Look at one of your children, then grab some tools and tear that child apart while they are sleeping... not pleasant and very offensive.. but that's what abortion is. You know how long they allow abortion right? You know late abortions are when the baby can feel pain right? You seem intelligent but it's a life.. heart is beating.. there is a little person in there. People can justify it how they want but what's inside them is real.
      Listen to the excuses of why people abort... it is selfish. I once dated a girl who was really fantastic.. but then I found out she had 3 abortions, put two kids up for adoption and had 3 kids.
      .. and yeah, I have a 4 year old daughter... not planned, huge surprise.. and I would not make a good superhero because I would let half the world population get killed before I'd let her get harmed. (maybe more than half)
      This is not a topic that you will sway someone on, especially over a RUclips conversation. At least your argument was somewhat intelligent.. the ones below are greatly lacking content/intelligence/grammar/spelling.

      Actually you essentially said I wasn't entitled to my own opinion when you told me to "take your personal opinions and go elsewhere". I said my peace but you seem to want to go on and on and on and on... like you're going to prove what I feel as wrong. You can't change how I feel and you can't prove my points as wrong because they are my feelings (which I share with millions of others... much as you share an opinion with millions of others).
      Whether it was poorly timed sex, random sex, anonymous sex, rape, immaculate conception... millions of us believe, and always will believe, that the moment that egg is fertilized, it's a life. Period. Wait a day, wait two months.. if you abort, you're killing the baby. You call it a fetus, you call it an embryo... the end result is always the same, a baby.
      Write another 100+ line response but it's still the way we feel and none of your non-capitalized, run-on, grammatically incorrect sentences will change that. (and we won't read it all either because it's toooooooo long)
      It's my opinion, it's my thoughts, it's my belief... who are you to think you can correct me? I'm not attempting to correct you. Take your opinions, thoughts, beliefs, whatever, and make your own thread. I've said my peace, so "take your personal opinions and go elsewhere."

I said one thing and the argument was over, it's the woman's choice. She continued to say excuses but the argument was already over. Morality has nothing to do with this choice, the government only cares if the child is born, not what happens with it. And pro-life arguments often consist of "what if's" well what if they turn out to be the next Hitler or dictator, what if's have nothing to do with what's happening.

The baby has its own unique DNA from the moment of conception. She has the right to do whatever with her own body, I totally agree with that, but the child is not a part of her. She is multiplying herself. the male part throws himself into her whole. her seed is developed.She is author of that being.The earth is our creator or at least life support and has a right to take its breath back. god, disconnected can destroy and remake the earth, its is hyprocitical and cruel to lie and say that its another being. If you're going to be pro-life then that also includes giving that child a good quality of life! If you're going to force women to have children they cannot or will not take care of, then be prepared to take care of those children well into their adulthood!

    I find it funny that a person may look at an unborn fetus and say "Ewww it looks like an alien; I don't mind if you kill it." yet if you were to kill that same fetus a few months later after it's actually been birthed, you'd be viewed as a murderer and a baby killer. It just goes to show how the folly of human emotion can skew certain people's view on morality. Personally, I believe it is not our right to end a life, be it our own or of a "person in the making." Pro-choice should mean being able to partake in personal actions that do not affect others in a negative way, and taking responsibility for whatever those choices may be. For instance, if a man and a woman consent to sex, they should have been aware of the possibility of the woman becoming pregnant, even with preventative measures. Thus, they indirectly consented to having a baby. Therefore if the woman does become pregnant, neither of the parents should have the right to an abortion, for they knew the risks involved in the choice they made. In contrast, if a woman is raped, she did not consent to the sex, thus she also did not consent to having a baby, in which case I believe she should have the right to an abortion if she so chooses.
    Agree? Disagree?

    • @ebonyleemiddleton184
      @ebonyleemiddleton184 10 лет назад +6

      I agree right up until that last part there. That child still has a right to live. The situation is terrible, no, horrible. However we can't make bad events disappear just because we don't want them to exist. That is why rape is so terrible, because it takes away choice. Not just in the act itself, but in everything after. That same situation, if the rapist had AIDS and the woman caught it, she couldn't have that disappear even though she didn't consent. Quite honestly why I believe rape is the worst crime there is.

      It can be a tough call, but in the end I agree. The mother should just have to try and raise the child as best as she can, or perhaps even set him/her/them up for adoption. Unfortunately it seems that in politics, certain... compromises must be made in order to get what we want, regardless of whether they are necessarily the best.

    • @MangaEater68

      You: "That same situation, if the rapist had AIDS and the woman caught it, she couldn't have that disappear even though she didn't consent."
      Me: Your analogy is incorrect. It is based on the idea that science has not advanced far enough for her to have the choice to end her AIDS. In this case, science HAS advanced far enough for her to have the choice to end her pregnancy.
      So instead, a correct analogy would be:
      "That same situation, if the rapist had syphilis and the woman caught it, she couldn't have that disappear even though she didn't consent."
      Then you would be saying that even though science has advanced far enough for her to have the choice to end her syphilis discomfort, she cannot be allowed to do so and she just has to live with the card dealt to her. This is because ending her discomfort would mean ending the bacteria's life, which is currently being nourished by the woman's body, and nobody has the right to end life.

      This is such a self-centered argument. People like you always change their tune when their daughter gets pregnant at 17. The fact that people like you see children as a punishment for sex says it all. Better that the children brought into this world are wanted and loved.
      I'd like to know how many unwanted children you've adopted. That's not true, I know the answer. Because you're all talk. You want to tell everyone else how to live their life but take no responsibility yourself.

    • @ebonyleemiddleton184
      @ebonyleemiddleton184 10 лет назад +4

      ***** Actually, I got pregnant at 18 while in college. If my daughter gets pregnant at 17 I hope she has enough of a sense of responsibility and respect for herself to remember that she doesn't get to make a decision about another person's life. I am actually in the process of adopting a child right now. Your assumptions on how I live mine are humorous. You know nothing about me, however you are obviously egotistical and exceptionally judgmental to make assumptions about how I live my life as you have never met me.
      @ MangaEater68 Actually that is not the same, especially since my argument in this case isn't so much about the fact that a woman cannot make a decision about her body, it is about the fact that bad things happen and sometime's we have to live with it. Sometimes there isn't something we can do that isn't unethical ourselves. However, let's look at your argument about being in discomfort giving us a right to do something like kill some one. Which is what this is. You cannot have it both ways. In a murder case, someone who kills a pregnant woman is charged for two counts of murder. In an abortion a fetus is a clump of cells. Why is that? Is it because the mother wanted the baby? Can you guarantee that she did? No, because she died. double standards don't work.

      Laws against illicit drug use, prostitution, selling organs, public urination, and indecent exposure show there is no absolute right to do anything we want with our bodies. Also, religion is completely irrelevant to this issue. Innocent human beings are being killed.
      The argument admits that the fetus is a person who, by the argument’s own logic, has a right to bodily autonomy. If we would respect the bodily autonomy of a sleeping or unconscious born person by not killing him, then wouldn’t we bound to treat an unborn child in the same way because they too, as a person, have a right to “bodily autonomy?”

      patdaboni1221 I know, as a man I will never truly understand what women go through in abortions. They can explain it to me in full detail and I will only kind of get it. I know that women don't do this because they see it as fun or because they enjoy killing babies.
      I don't have say over you just as you don't have say over your next door neighbour. I never said I had say over anyone, sorry if it seemed that way. You have a right to your body but you can't do absolutely anything you want with it as I showed in my examples.
      If a woman's life is in danger during childbirth, we shouldn't let her die and save the baby. BUT, we shouldn't kill the baby to save the mother either. We save who we can, we try save both equally.
      I agree that if the mother's life is in danger and you need to take the baby out of the womb with the intent to save him/her and he/she doesn't make it is not murder. Of course it's bad because someone just died but it wasn't purposeful.
      Trust me, if it was up to me and if I had millions of dollars, I would make orphanages and homes for children. I would help homeless and poor people as I'm sure you would too if you had the chance but unfortunately I don't.
      Pro-lifers speak about this because the government can change this law that allows the baby to be dismembered. Humans have walked on the moon. If we can do something as extraordinary as that, I'm sure we can come up with non-violent solutions to unwanted pregnancies.
      The unborn is a human being who should be treated like one. If they are growing and developing aren't they alive? If they are a human organism and they have human parents wouldn't that make them human? If they are human don't they deserve respect and don't they have the right to life as you and I do?

    • @JackWilliams-eg6pr
      @JackWilliams-eg6pr 10 лет назад +4

      ***** Before I start, I would like to just note that I didn't mean any offence to you. Sorry if you were offended.
      When did your life begin? Now, some say between 20-24 weeks a baby can survive outside of the womb AKA they're viable. Lets pick 24 weeks. That implies we've been counting for 24 weeks something that happened 24 weeks ago. Something happened that was significant enough for us to consider we should 'press start' on the clock. Wouldn't that mean that someone who is 24 weeks old's life began, 24 weeks ago? At conception/fertilisation?
      Before conception, the sperm and egg on their own will never grown into a baby, toddler, adult etc. At fertilisation the genetic information which makes you YOU is determined then. Then a one celled, two celled, four celled etc organism is present. After conception, lets say, in 8 months, don't we just have an older version of the same individual who is in fact human?
      Science shows us that biological human beings begin to exist after sperm and egg successfully unite to form a zygote, or a one-celled human organism. This is a fact.
      Keith Moore and T.V.N Persaud’s textbook 'The Developing Human' states “Human life begins at fertilization” and Langman’s Medical Embryology also states that “Development begins with fertilisation.” The fourth chapter of Scott Gilbert’s textbook Developmental Biology is simply titled, “Fertilization: Beginning of a New Organism.”
      Finally, David Boonin, the author of A Defense of Abortion, writes, “Perhaps the most straightforward relation between you and me on the one hand and every human foetus on the other is this: All are living members of the same species, homo sapiens. A human foetus after all is simply a human being at a very early stage in his or her development.”
      Women aren't just machines that have babies. They're not. I really hope nobody thinks that but this shouldn't allow for the baby they carry in their womb to be killed and dismembered in an abortion.
      All I'm saying is, we shouldn't place more value on one human than the other because we are all equal. Everyone of us has rights and one special right is the right to life.
      Now if a woman doesn't want the baby but goes through with the pregnancy, will it be hard? Absolutely. Does she and her child need support throughout the pregnancy? Wholeheartedly. But we don't base our morals on what is easy and hard, we base it on what is right and wrong.
      Like, how would you respond if someone said to you "My one year old can't liver on her own and is fully dependant on me to care for her and because I am more important than her, I may kill the child"?

    • @patdaboni1221

      Jack Williams first of all how dare you say that a woman can not do what she wants with her body, legal or illegal ANYONE has every right to their body newsflash slavery ended years ago 2)an embryo or a fetus does not have human rights until it takes it's first breath,.3) if a fetus was consider a human being, it should be allowed to have life insurance, do you know how many women would take out life in insurance on their fetus and then force a miscarriage just to get the money. 3) not every woman are able to go through pregnancy, take rape for example, do you think after a traumatic and horrific experience a rape victim can go through a pregnancy,do you think is fair to force her to deliver her rapist child oh btw did you know that a rapist can have custody of his child. do you know about incest rape, do you think is fair to force a 12 years old or 13 years old a 17 years old to give birth her siblings. abortion should stay legal because not every girl can report their rape or are afraid to report it..

After the baby is born the mother is labeled a burden to society and just left to fend for herself. Also, yea it IS your mother's choice because you are HER responsibility. You are demanding that you be left alive because your life is your choice. Well honey by doing so you are also demanding that your mother sacrifice her life in order for you to have yours. I get that the choice between the two isn't easy by any stretch of the imagination but you need to extend the same right to your mother that you're demanding to yourself. The bottom line is that women's bodies are their own, and they have (and should continue to have) the right to decide when and under what circumstances to have a baby. It is none of the government's business what goes on inside the bodies of its female citizens. Period. I know abortion is an ethically difficult and often socially painful issue, but at some point the nuanced arguments and inflamed passions have to be set aside and the base fact asserted: women have the right to terminate a pregnancy, especially early on. After a point, there must be a medically necessary reason, but within the first trimester this choice is for the woman to make.
    And we know from studying this issue on both a contemporary global scale and a historical and sociological scale that the countries with the highest rates of abortion are countries in which it has been banned and/or criminalized. The countries which have the lowest rates of abortion are those in which there is proper sex education, women have access to basic healthcare and gynecological services, where child care is either very affordable or free, and yes, in which abortion is legal, safe, and accessible.
    The problem with the "pro-life" movement is that they aren't pro-life at all. They're pro-birth. They care about human life for approximately forty weeks, and once it leaves its mother's body and enters the world, they no longer give a shit about it. This movement, which has attached itself to the Republican Party, is at the vanguard of the most regressive and harmful economic and social policy imaginable. They don't care about women, children, or families -- they care only about their parochial and fanatical moral vision without any regard for the real-world impact of the policies they advocate.

    I grew up playing with babydolls. Every Christmas there was a new baby doll for me to unwrap. I always knew I would grow up, get married, and have children. I found true love in my early twenties. We married and I had three miscarriages. At age 32 I was diagnosed with cancer. No children would happen for my husband and I. We don't have the money to adopt. Do you know I would give my life to be a Mommy? How can any one have an abortion? I would gladly raise an unwanted child.

    While there's SO MUCH to respond to in this video, I especially want to retort based off of that last comment about the child possibly "being Hitler". That argument fails on so many levels:
    1.Are you really trying to tell me that, we should execute MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS of unborn children, or that the "it could be Hitler" argument is justified for WHATEVER reason, because also possible contractors, civil engineers, philosophers, doctors, dentists, computer technicians, policemen, future great presidents and other worldly leaders, Martin Luther King Juniors, Mahatma Ghandis, Ptolemys, Pompeys, George Washingtons, Thomas Jeffersons, Franklin D. Roosevelts, Abraham Lincolns, Muammar Gaddafis, etc to get rid of ONE man? Even if you say "There was also Stalin, Pol Pot, Kim Jong Un, and a few other poeple", we're getting rid of all the other people I listed for those few men?
    2. We do not know for sure what the child will grow up to be. Although we do have several factors that contribute to their development, overall, we don't know 100% how the child will be. However, we do have a law called the presumption of innocence,. meaning, until you can prove 100% that the child will be evil, we have to assume they are innocent.
    3. Even if this argument were true there are other things to take into consideration. First of all, ANYBODY (born or unborn) could be Hitler. Don't just assume its just unborn children. But if someone slaughtered innocent children in Africa, or the Middle East, we would not accept his actions simply because he claims "They could have been Hitler".
    4. Hitler was from Austria. If you're so concerned about him coming back, legalize abortion there but keep it out of the rest of the world. Even so, there is a rise in Neo Nazism in Europe. Meaning we're either too late, or we aborted the wrong people.

    This abortion discussion is very complex. Too complex for these particular women to really discuss. What I will say is that having an abortion is a difficult decision and most women do not have abortions with easy hearts and minds and think it over for many restless days and some have guilt. However it is the right decision for a lot of women. Second, Planned Parenthood does more than just provide abortions and I don't want to critique them but I do believe Sherri's socioeconomic background and race and age played a part in them encouraging her. But only intellectuals will truly understand that.

    I think only rape victims should be able to have the choice of abortion, for the simple fact they didn't consent to sex or to have a child. The only choice the other women should have is the choice not to put themselves in the position to have a child in the first place, knowing damn well they aren't even financially stable to ready to take care of a child. I find it disgusting to hear some women have had multiple abortions. There should at least be a fucking limit. Unfortunately, if this option were only open to rape victims, we'd have 10x more "rape victims" reporting their rape.

      Jack Williams The killing of a baby just doesn't sit well with me, especially when it could have been prevented. There is no reason why anyone in their right mind should be having multiple abortions. Why would anyone want to constantly keep going through that process? Why would anyone keep putting themselves in that predicament? It's just not right. One abortion is already one thing but multiple... something needs to be done.

    • @JackWilliams-eg6pr
      @JackWilliams-eg6pr 10 лет назад +1

      Alexis Randall I agree with you. If we can agree the unborn human is just an innocent baby, shouldn't we be against killing him/her in a violent way ALL the time even in the case of rape? The poor children are being dismembered and disembowelled in abortions.
      I'm not trying to degrade the horror and trauma of the rape on the woman but an abortion won't 'un-rape' her. She will still have the memories and experience of the crime. Still, I cannot begin to imagine how hard it must be to go through with the pregnancy of a child conceived in rape.
      I think rapists should be severely punished and they should be forced to do hard labour for committing such a horrible and cowardly crime on an innocent woman. But we cannot (at least where I live) give him the death penalty.
      If we aren't giving the death penalty to the rapist, why should we give the death penalty to the innocent child? The baby is being put to death for the crime of the father which I see as unfair on him/her.
      Again, I'm not trying to make this sound 'easy' because it's not. Will it be hard? Extremely. Do we need to give the mother absolute care and support throughout the pregnancy? Wholeheartedly. But we don't base our morals on easy and hard, we base it on whats right and wrong.

    • @erudox2000
      @erudox2000 10 лет назад

      Jack Williams Their is a difference between "morality" and "reality," which I believe you don't understand. Having a child is a very hard thing to do, financially and mentally ... Through your logic, a fetus that isn't even close to the point of birth, should be regarded as a actual human being. The decision to have a child is a very difficult one, planning between a couple to get ready for this is imperative, forcing a woman to give birth to a child that she doesn't believe she is ready for and doesn't want to have is completely her decision, we have no right to invade on her choice and push her to go through with such a serious thing.Although when you stand up and use the term "un-rape" to sway a woman's choice, this is where I need to step in. Saying there should be a limit on abortions is the most bullshit thing I've ever heard, you don't know a single persons situation to be able to put up laws against these women, they have the right to choose. Saying "I'm not trying to degrade the horror and trauma of the rape on the woman but an abortion won't 'un-rape' her. She will still have the memories and experience of the crime," is a really scary thing to read. The idea taking the trauma of a rape away through abortion has never been claimed, nor will it ever, but saying "Hey suck it up, raise the kid. THINK ABOUT THE CHILDREN. An abortion won't un-rape you." How can you legitimately say that an abortion is wrong because it doesn't go back and erase the memory of rape. These women would have to live with a child that they weren't ready for, have to look at every day and remind them selves of how painful the event was. It honestly disgusts me to read these comments, I'm sorry if I sounded insulting, but hearing this shit is really getting old.

    i understand what Elizabeth which is rare but at the end of the day..unless you are married or in a committed union you shouldn't even be fornication especially without a condom for your own safety if we want to be technical. And if you are having sex at least use a condom because in the end that child didn't knock on you uterus and asked to be conceived. If you are going to give life at least own your responsibility and take care of it. If you are a victim of molestation/rape that is different and will be handled in the proper manner but any woman is is willing to lay up with a man with no condom should understand the risk in getting pregnant.

      I am just simply saying as adults we should be responsible enough and smart enough to know that unsafe sex could result in sickness/unwanted pregnancy. There are women who have 5+ abortions and I don't understand that logic.Of course it is someone I know but it is reckless behavior to continue to put the unborn child and also yourself at harm just because you are being irresponsible. I'm not saying my belief I'm am saying technically if you want to be fair under a lot of the belief mainly speaking about Elizabeth sex should be between husband and wife..At the end of the day I am giving my opinion which I believe most women should think is valid. If your young, fast, or simply don't use condoms to protect yourself I just feel a lot of that hard-ache is on that individual. It is the women choice but in my eyes it is irresponsible on both sides to even get to that point of an unwanted pregnancy with a man or woman who is in no mental or financial place to handle another life. People can make excuses all they want but this is why we have so many issues today with young women. Everybody is allowing this behavior with no education to deter this from happening.

    • @ryddelwearsahat
      @ryddelwearsahat 9 лет назад +1

      Jessica Brown I did use protection. The condom split. But then you move on to attacking sexuality itself.. but did you know that a good portion of abortions are had by married women who already have kids?
      Sex is not/ only for reproduction.. and among humans it is more of a social tool than for reproduction, and psychology and human history every which way to sunday proves that. Just the very existence OF birth control, abortion, and even adoption prove sex isn't consent to reproduction. And if sex is had without the intent to reproduce, but it is still willingly initiated, that means it has other purposes whether you like it or believe it or not.
      I have sex with my husband to feel good. and because I want to express love.. and that doesn't make my sex life more or less responsible than someone else's just b/c they might not be married, ect. And I don't use birth control b/c I don't trust the hormones. I'm now on an IUD.
      I'm all for birth control and sex ed, but the thing is comprehensiove and intelligent sex ed is hard to come by- parents vehemently attacfk any type of sex ed that is not abstinence-only or rooted in shock/fear tactics. Also, the only freely available birth control are condoms.. I'd like to see pill form, shot form, and even IUDs available extremely discounted or even FREE, and WITHOUT parental consent, b/c otherwise the majority of teens having sex will not be able to obtain contraception. Or comprehensive sex ed, and that becomes endangerment or even retaliation when you more or less force them into unsafe circumstances with unplanned unwanted pregnancies, STDs, ect..
      Sex should not only be 'for the rich' or those who 'can afford it' if things go wrong.. that's fucked up, classist, and given most circumstances, even racist when you look at the statistics of women poverty level and below who cannot obtain decent birth control or who seek abortion access.
      I know women and have worked with teens who have sought abortion, and all but two of the teens I've worked with were using some/ form of contraception.. but contraception can be faulty- ESPECIALLY if it is hormonal. And that is not the users' fault. I know I didn't make or want the condom to split.. and I wasn't old enough to obtain birth control of any other form on my own. And if I'd asked i would have been punished or questioned for it, and would have paid dearly.
      It dodn't stop me, and resulted in a bad situation that almost killed me and I didn't even /care/. And it's certainly not stopping others... all the limited and sometimes contradictive circumstances and 'options' women and teens have these days seem to really do is just make things harder.
      Make contraception IN ALL FORMS available freely, discounted or free, and keep parental consent out of it b/c most parents are backward and even vindictive or proud enough to willfully endanger their child rather than protect them, then sit there and tantrum if their child gets an STD or pregnant, and will refuse to even address the possibility of their child needing it or wanting it- even for actual medical reasons like hormonal birth control regulating irregular, painful menstruation.. I've worked in cases where parents hve had me try to investigate if their child was involved in fucking prostitution b/c they were getting the pill from a friend.. and they turned out to be virgins, just trying to fix a simple medical issue their parents are too irrational and cowardly to face b/c they think giving a teen contraception of any kind is a free ticket to go fuck the whole universe..
      ..thinking like that, and the resultant actions CAUSE more problems than they could ever hope to fix.

    • @jayLanette90
      @jayLanette90 9 лет назад +1

      I understand that...Ok the condom broke.But any adult or person grown enough to make that decision to have sex needs to consider everything. The only 100 percent guaranteed contraceptive is abstinence. Yes birth control exists but none if it is natural. I didn't have sex until 18 when I moved out rented room ..Out of my parents house. I did it that way because I wanted to be on my own once I started to get into men sexually...that's just my choice. Now I am engaged at 24 and we use protection. Yes, it could break but at this point we are in a point in our lives where we could bring a child into this world IF it happened but at this moment we are not trying. I have never been on birth control but every woman is different. The point I was making to you was I'm not exactly for abortions. but then again I'm not gonna protest just because someone does it. It ultimately is your choice. I'm just saying my opinion. Maybe me saying "married" through you off. being married doesn't mean that you have your stuff together. Anybody can get married and go to the courthouse and that doesn't mean you have your own place, a job, stability, in some cases it's just a piece of paper And the fornication comment was mainly influenced from living with my mom. I wouldn't exactly identify with being a Christian but I do see some of the views helpful.. I decided to not live that life to the T and had sex once I moved out cause I didn't want to be in her household going against her rules and plus i like my space. I graduated at 17 went to a tech school become a Dental assistant moved out at 18. Started working in DC rented a room out there and eventually met my fiance. Now I work in Reston and that''s where we currently reside. I am no where near balling but I think I'm doing quite well for myself.. No, sex isn't for the rich who can provide easily but let's think straight here. Why am I going to have sex still in my parents home, no job , no car and think I can raise a child with a guy in the same boat as I am? Money isn't everything but we are given a brain for a reason. Married or not sex comes with consequences whether your doing it to reproduce or social. And std or pregnancy wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

      We as a society can all agree on three basic principles: 1. You own your body and can do whatever you want with it (Eat, drink, exercise or not, etc). 2. You own the fruits of your labor 3. You have the right to protect your body and the fruits of your labor (Ipods, cars, houses, etc) whether through your means or a third party (Police for example).
      You either agree with these principles fully or you do not. There is no "yes, but..." or "In most cases yes, but what about.." or "Maybe an exception to killing could be made if it were to cause 9mths of pain." So my question to you is, why do you make an exception? The moment that another body is formed is the moment that it is afforded these rights. Otherwise it just becomes open to opinion as to when the correct moment to afford the individual its natural rights.
      So really the best argument you have is "It doesn't look human, therefore it isn't human."
      But that argument doesn't really hold water as while you may not look like an idiot, it doesn't change the fact that you are.
      There, is that a good enough logical argument? Please note the pro choice cause relies heavily on emotional arguments and refuses to state logically sound ones.

      Don't speak FOR me, or try to overlay YOUR terms and ideals on top of MY opinions and reasons, and then behave as if you're still trying to talk to ME, and not whatever scapegoat you are attempting to turn me INTO first.
      Go ahead and insult me and whatever else, saying something, feeling strong, smart, angry, ect.. nothing will make what you accuse me of, threaten me, or want me to be, true.. and that includes me being an idiot just b/c you want me to be.
      As for why i support abortion, it is simple- not every person is the same person with the same body, emotional standpoint, psychological development/strengths, and not everyone lives the exact same circumstances and has the same abilities and support around them.. and for those who do not have the LUXURY, therefore, of a safe/supportive pregnancy, or the 'right' to choose adoption afterward, I support abortion, but only in extreme cases.

It means that you agree with a woman making her own choice. Joy's talking about people who are trying to STOP women from HAVING the choice altogether. Pro-Life wants to make choice illegal. Not to trivialize it but it's like smoking. You can dislike smoking all you want... but there's a difference between not liking smoking, personally, and trying to outlaw smoking for EVERYONE. So Joy's argument is that you are anti-choice if you're trying to encourage laws to prevent women from having the right to choose -- not because you don't agree with the choice.

      OneLoveRSR I guess I didn't make myself clear. I want to make abortion illegal, wish it was, except in the cases of life and death or rape. I think women should have choices and rights. I think abortions are murder which is why I am against them. At the same time I'm a feminist and believe in the rights of women. I actually believe that smoking should be illegal too...

      StandUpAndFight72 So if you want to make it illegal for a woman to choose to have an abortion if they feel that's the choice they need to make... explain to me why you're mad at being called "anti-choice" if you want to make that choice illegal?

      To me it seems like it's about anti-choice in general not just for abortion.

      Stop playing dumb. You know the pro-choice and pro-life phrases refer specifically to abortion.

    I worked in a pediatric clinic that was the state clinic for abused children. Most of those children were born unwanted but the parents of the pregnant woman wouldn't hear of letting their daughter get an abortion. Those children ended up being "failure to thrive"...which means to stop growning at around 3 or 4 years old and die in your teens because you were never given love...a requirement for a healthy animal period. Others were sexually assaulted...the horror stories are worst than any one could imagine. No child deserves to live though such hell. Pro-lifers should call themselves pro-birthers...because after the birth they don't care and don't want to know reality. Human history...such as the americans indians...used herbs to abort a child they could not feed. Abortion has been around since the beginning of man. It's not a happy subject - just a reality.
