No one sounds like Robin Trower. His reverse rakes, his bends, his vibrato, his chord voicings. He's always been my favorite blues rock guitarist and he still has the magic. Tone to die for.
Saw him headline at Philadelphia Spectrum in 76-77, Rush opened, 2112 tour, Montrose in the middle with Sammy Hagar! What an incredible night! Trowers use of the Univibe through Marshalls, oscillated the roof off!
This makes me slobber! Montrose's first album is my benchmark for hard rock albums, Rush's 2112 is adequate ( huge understatement ) and Robin's trio in their prime with with James Dewar's velvet tinged vocals, wow!
I have always loved Robin Trower's playing and I love the sound of marshal amps with green back speakers. I also run two amps, one vox and one marshall, the tones are well suited for me.
Was 1975 the first time I heard "Bridge of Sighs" album and it blew me away. In1975 we ended up playing 2 cuts off it Day of the Eagle and Too Rollin' Stoned. Trower had his distinct tone and style like no other.
Stumbled across this and ... Wow... Robin Trower is, as most of you know, a rock guitar legend. I'm just so glad he's still with us amongst the living, for cryin' out loud!! Seeing this made my day. God bless Robin Trower... he made many of us his age want to play better and do the homework to get us there!! Two thumbs up!! 👍👍
@@AlexSosaBolivia ah there’s always one that wants to argue…guitar players below the age of 35 probably won’t have him in there top 5 and maybe even top 10 that influences them but if players take the time to check him out he will be 100% be appreciated. He’s not the first name that comes out of peoples mouths when they talk about there favourite guitar players and I mean that in the most respectful way by the way 👍🏻
Great guitar player. I saw him in the early 70's through the 80's in Atlanta, GA every time he played there. Good to see this clip of him still enjoying playing.
Marshall should come out with a 100 Watt stack .... identical what Robin used during his 1975 Winterland concert .... " The Marshall Retro Trower Power Amp "
Glad he was successful with his power trio lineup of Dewar, and Isidore/Lordan. But he sure powered out Procol Harum with Whisky Train and Simple Sister. I think Gary Brooker had the same sentiment as Keith Emerson, "a profound mistrust of lead guitarists". Have seen him through several different band incarnations, and they never disappointed. I met him about 8 years ago. His advice to capture a shred of his tone was to "play it loud". As they say, a true magician never reveals his secrets, haha.
Love his soulfull playing! At about 1:23 (when he plays in those higher positions) you hear a lot off string pull though, which means his pickups are set high; to high in fact.
@@AlexSosaBoliviaGood call. There’s always someone who posts “he’s so underrated” about the most celebrated musicians around. They tend to get a lot of thumbs up, so 🤷♂️.

I just love, when HE, talks obout marshall amplifers ! or any of his top secret gear or pedals ! I always dig his tones and music, Boss Man Robin !
Trower is one of THE guys that made me want to play.
Same here !!!
me too, for sure
When I heard the Bridge of Sighs record in 74, that was it. From that moment on I knew guitar was in my future.

A fantastic amp played by a true gentleman. 😺👍
Trower is fantastic and the amp sounds great.
Yes! Nothing more to say...
Best vibrato in the business...Love Robin

Amazing tone and his playing is better than ever and always evolving. Trower Power!
One of the most underrated greats of all time
I love Robin
I love my Plexi
I love my Strat ❤the neck pickup strat through to the marshall is “THE SOUND “
I think the first time I saw him play was in 1977. Never disappoints!

“Underrated” LMAO. He’s a living legend. Where have you been?

Beautiful sounds👌🏻
Anything and everything Trower.❤
thanks for the close up of his settings! great and he uses them live and in the studio.
What a legend!!💥🎸🙌🏼
I love my Studio JTM45. I sure loved seeing this guy demo it.
it's not a jtm45.
it's a jtm studio.
these are two different amps, the jtm45 sounds much better, after all it costs twice the price, it makes sense
Here is a legend!

Much respect.
Robin fkn Trower.... that's who..💯🎸

'Bout bloomin' time you put Mr. Trower in your demo playthrough.
They did for the SV20 too.
Played by Robin Trower? What else!
This amp is amazing. A must have!
Btw: I loved to see the Vintage Modern in the back, left corner...
I saw tower at the Firehouse in Ballad (Seattle). Small intimate venue. Very enjoyable.
Robin Trower the Legend
I saw him at Kidnappers in Charlotte in the 1980's. We were shocked that he was playing a red Squier.
These were the really good Squiers with american pickups and hardware, only produced two years while Fender were reforming and setting up new shop.
Glad he was successful with his power trio lineup of Dewar, and Isidore/Lordan. But he sure powered out Procol Harum with Whisky Train and Simple Sister. The Creambacks really compliment the Strat sound.
Hard to go wrong with creambacks
I wish thy had throw in a Uni-Vibe and a delay and let him play longer.
He is using the fulltone Dejavibe at 1.12 on the Vibrato setting, unusual for him as he usually uses the chorus setting.
Love his soulfull playing!

The most underrated guitar player. He is the "Stratomaster"
“Underrated” LMFAO. He’s a living legend. You missed it, obviously..

Daydream Amp
Гитара красивая.
“The earlier ones sound sweeter” lol
Robin’s being polite about a cheaply made, plastic tribute Marshall.
pro tech said Suhr and Friedman are better built
What a guitar player…
