It just hit me we have a blue lightsaber on the cover but never one in the novel. And beautiful how it takes a team effort including Wicket to persuade the ewoks to get involved with the conflict. Thank you for bringing these decadebird!
@@decadebird I believe Luke's lightsaber *was* originally blue, but would have been all but invisible against the deep blue sky of Buttercup Valley near Yuma, Arizona, where they filmed Jabba's sail barge scenes. They colour corrected it after the fact to green.
I remember getting the Return of the Jedi paperback novelization when I was in the 5th Grade in 1983, just a matter of days before the movie came out. I didn't want to spoil the movie for myself but I was so obsessed with Star Wars and so anxious to find out anything about the new movie, I couldn't resist. I decided to just read a little bit. By that Saturday, when my Dad took the whole family to see the movie for the first time, I had gotten right up to the part where Luke enters Jabba's palace but no further. So the Rancor and everything after that was like one surprise after another. When I got home I devoured the rest of the novelization. I loved all the original Star Wars trilogy novelizations as a kid but the ROTJ novelization was my favorite and the one I read over and over again. Many, many years later as an adult, I thought it would be fun to revisit this novel in audiobook form, and looked it up. Only to discover that the iTunes store had EVERY one of those hacky "Expanded Universe" Star Wars audiobooks you can imagine - and the only ones they DIDN"T HAVE, was the original trilogy novelizations!! So thank you very much for posting this on RUclips.
This is the greatest, most well-written of the Original Trilogy novelizations. It gets into the characters’ minds and explores their innermost thoughts like no other Star Wars movie novel did.
Thanks for posting the James Kahn version of the story. I used to own the paperback edition back in 1983, and have been wanting to read it again (my original copy is beat up having been damaged in a severe flood) but any version I tried to buy is that Disney version. Thanks for making available this version! I shall enjoy listening to it!
Kudos to your channel for creating these audiobooks on the original (middle) trilogy of Star Wars story. Is there any way you could create audiobook videos on the prequil and post trilogies as well? It would be awesome to listen to all nine movie novels. If not, it's understandable due to it being a lot of work. For all the hard work for the original trilogy, May the 4th be with you... always!!
2:13:50 Obi-Wan says "I took you to live with my brother Owen" The original trilogy novelizations definitely aren't that great compared to the prequel and sequel novelizations lmao.
Well I think if we look hard enough we will find that Jabba has some morals and character somewhere, in comparison to Trump Jabba is a positive influence on society lol
And now the audiobook trilogy is complete. 😊 Much appreciated 👍
You are very welcome.

That was the same cover my old VHS tape had. I wondered about back then, but I think it is just for artistic purposes.

I agree whole-heartedly. Return of the Jedi is story-telling at its best. The exposition of backstory is beautiful.

Another departure is Leigh remembering her mother hiding in an armoire.
