Some great games to benchmark rn are Cs, valorant, far cry 5, GTA 5, cyberpunk, shadow of the tomb raider, control, warzone, battlefield 5, apex and maybe metro exodus. Hopefully this helps in future videos! Thanks for all the insane videos!!
Would you do this same video after the tweaks you made to the laptop? would be really neat to see. I have one on the way and plane on keeping it cooler with your tweaks.
Hello. I;m getting this laptop and wondering about the heat of the GPU, while you were showing Minecraft. The GPU went to 90 degrees Celsius. Doesn’t that ruin the GPU? Is there a reason it runs so hot?
@Mash IT Thx for your work!! It seems that the 144hz panel is a wise choice at least for me. * In first is cheaper than the other options. *The majority of games render between 100 - 130 fps in ultra. So it's ok. *The 144hz sync panel has Optimus, therefore better battery life and more flexibility if you use this PC to game and work What do you think??
Definitely the right choice for most people. I have a 144hz m17r4 with cherry mechanical keyboard on the way. I will be testing advanced optimus and battery life with it :)
Sorry guys, I missed this question. Throttlestop doesn't necessarily give you more fps, it just massively improves your temps. Now if you were throttling before undervolting then it can also improve fps by eliminating the throttling. Hope this makes sense
hey, great video! Planning on purchasing this one. But Im sorry for my bad english, but what is better , Single drive 1tb ssd or raid0 1tb ssd ( 2x 512gb) ??? idk about this raid thing, so can u please explain a little for me me and what is better between those two option? Thanks!
to try and simplify it for you, Raid uses multiple SSD's joined together to create a single fast drive. Now this used to be useful on hard drives as they were so slow but SSDs are so fast you won't really notice a difference. But the problem with this is it will populate both your 80mm m.2 bays leaving you only 1 short m.2 bay left. You are better off getting a single 1tb SSD and adding a second yourself when you need it
Great review! I just picked up mine with the 3070 and the 300HZ panel. Some people claim the 300HZ isnt as bright as the OLED panel. Did you find that to be the case? 300nits seems pretty bright considering my Legion Y540 with a 60HZ display. Also, do you find the 32GB RAM overkill? And is 16GB enough for gaming?
It seemed plenty bright but I think the oled is 400 nits so would be a little brighter. I did t ever feel like I need to turn the brightness more than 100%. I could only order it with 32gb in the U.K. at the time but for most people 16gb is perfect
Me again! Just an update. Got my computer yesterday and the keyboard is SO satisfying to just click around with. You'll like it for sure and I'm not even a keyboard fanatic but.... wow. I'm gonna update everything that needs updating on it and such and then I'm gonna rewatch your other vids to get the computer together for gaming!
Hi Conner, Congrats! Can't believe you got yours so quickly! Hoping I get mine next week. Let me know how you get on tweaking the system and if you need any help just ask :)
@@MashITTech I'm not sure if it was quick! Ordered the 19th, went into production the 24th, eta was the 1st but came on the 3rd! But yes I'll absolutely let you know how it goes I can't thank you enough helping a noob out so much. That's really awesome 👏😁
I certainly would! I have as amazing amount of power so cuts through anything you throw at it plus you get a great keyboard, screen and speakers making it a brilliant package to work on. Once I tweaked it (Dell let it run uptown 100c out of the box which I think is a little to hot, purely my opinion) I am really happy with its performance
Not sure if you have tried the other one but feelings on either Alienware R15 m4 or the 2021 asus zepharyus g15, m4 at 3070 and 32gb ram, g15 is 3080 with 16 go. Same price for either and can’t decide
Hello! I have seen some of your reviews and they are super helpful! Thank you for that! I am an Architect, so I am trying to find the best laptop suited for my needs. I am battling between The Alienware m15 r4 and the Razer Blade 15 advanced edition (rtx 3070). May I ask you which one you would recommend, please?
Hi Clau, wow that is a hard choice! I love both but here goes... M15r4 get the 144hz if you need battery, the 300hz disables the intel gfx so has terrible battery life. It has the better keyboard (layout, feel and spacing) It has better speakers The performance is much better (but can run little hot out of the box so I have created videos to help people bring heat down). Has better warranty options with Dell (onsite warranty as opposed to the terrible razer warranty) The blade 15 has better battery life, upgradable ram and is more compact. It also feels very solid with its machined aluminum chasis. It has better panel options including 1440p high refresh display which would probably be useful for work I just picked up a 2020 blade advanced (same cpu as 2021 but 2070super instead of 3070) for a great price so might see if I can knock up a video comparing them. Sorry for the wall of text but it is always a hard choice
According to latest leaks. Alienware m15 r5 ryzen edition is coming, should I wait for that or go with the intel with discounted price. Is there any serious performance difference between intel and amd CPUs?
Yes I saw the release statement today. I will obviously order one the second they are available to order but I can see they have changed the chassis, it has lost some ports and it looks like they have added ram slots back! I expect the performance will be very similar and I am hoping it is a cheaper price
How well can the RTX 3070 perform on an external 1440p high refresh monitor? I’m thinking of getting one for when I dock the computer to use in a desktop setting. I ordered the alienware laptop yesterday with the 1080p 300htz screen. With the i7 8 core and 16GB of ram.
@@MashITTech Do you have any issues with VRAM at that resolution? I'm heavily debating between the Legion 7 and this laptop but the 8 GB VRAM on the 3080 is worrying me since I also have a 3440x1440p ultra wide.
Nope, we ordered this m15 before they were released :( we do have a m17 with cherry mech keyboard ordered on launch day and dell still haven't even manufactured it yet! they have pushed our order back twice. As soon as it arrives I will get info up on the channel 👍
Well the OLED is beautiful, and will be much better for work, movies and slower paced games. It is only fast paced games that benefit from high refresh rate screen
@@MashITTech thanks! Silly question but if I get OLED would hooking up to an external monitor with a higher refresh rate completely solve this problem when playing games?
Yes, it sure would. I use an Alienware AW2521HFL 240hz monitor hooked up to it (you can see the monitor in my latest video with the G14 if you are interested)
@@MashITTech Nice video mate! Just ordered on this morning with cherry mx and 3080! Can't wait! If you want some game cheap like FS2020, horizon 4, etc you can pay for 1 month game pass and have access to some games for your reviews!
I'm planning on getting the laptop but I'm confused as to why the fps on Minecraft were low? Is it always like that on Minecraft? Also, did you plug in the charger during the gameplay? Thank you for covering the laptop. I recently subscribed. This channel is amazing. Keep up the good work. 👍
Totally depends on dells stock! Some of ours shipped in 3 days but we have one on order for 2 weeks and still hasn’t shipped! I guess it depends on the configuration
What are temps like on cool mode with tweaks? I imagine the other profiles don't matter, unless you're running benchmarks or editing/rendering. I'm highly tempted to go with the m17 r4 because temps are so much better.
Hi Michael, I haven't played with cool mode as with my mods it runs pretty well and I didn't want the CPU capped at 45w. When I get some time I will test it. The m17 is the better buy IMHO, the cooling solution is far superior. You would really need portability to pick the 15
@@MashITTech Thank you for the great content and response! No worries on the testing. I'm just having a hard time because the gamer in me wants the most performance and that's great right now, but I will be going back to college within the next year, so I don't know if I really want to lug around a 17". 😂 It's also kind of weird that the m15 has the better 144hz screen from a response time standpoint. Also, having advanced optimus is a nice bonus. I'm tempted to get the m15 because of your mods/content; gives me hope on temps. I may even go the extra mile after my warranty is up and do a liquid metal repaste. I can live with 80'ish celcius temps, but anything over 90 celcius makes me uncomfortable. Anyway, thanks again! Subscribed. :)
Well the great thing with the TCC offset is if you set it to 15 it will never get over 85c! The performance loss is minimal anyway especially once you have undervolted
I am looking to buy the Alienware m17 R4, please tell me if I should buy it with RTX 3070 or RTX 3080. would there be that much of a difference between both?
Nice video! Does your laptop has a little noise that sounds like the electricity buzzing or like when you get a tinnitus?it's really bothering at night..🙃
That’s coil whine. Some machines have it some do not. If it’s bothering you maybe you can get dell to exchange it. My unit didn’t have any that I noticed (my hearing isn’t the best but I have had other laptops where it bothered me)
There sure are. In total there is 2x 80mm m.2 and 1x 42mm m.2. One of the 80mm will have the primary ssd in your machine. In the m15 vs m17 video in my channel I open them up and show you inside it 👍
I just picked up a bargain 2070 super razer blade advanced which I will be taking a look at soon and comparing to the 3070 to see if it is worth getting an expensive 2021 vs a bargain 2020 model that are currently available
I’d be interested to know if either of them suffer from the black screen issue. On dGPU mode, if the machine goes to sleep or the display turns off while on battery the screen doesn’t turn back on until you reboot the machine. Issue seems to be related to a windows update but Razer haven’t been able to resolve it - ongoing since around July 2020. insider.razer.com/index.php?threads/razer-blade-pro-2020-cant-update-nvidia-drivers.58932/page-20/
It’s called msi afterburner, I created a guide here: Overclock your M15 R4 /M17 R4 graphics card with msi afterburner It can be used for overclocking too
Ok. I bought this laptop and I think that it is the best purchrase of my life in that category. Now.. I haven't got any throttling problem, but as I use a normal game like Frostpunk my CPU's temperature rises to 98°, like in some games you show in that video.. I know that is an allowed temperature, but I'm really worried: I feel like I'm stressing too much my system and that it won't last as much as i want. So.. it is legitimate worry or not? Thank you!
Yeah, I am also not comfortable with that either. I pent some time tweaking my machine and made it run so much better. Here are the details if you wish to do the same: ruclips.net/video/1dFDmNBJPro/видео.html
Yes. I shot this footage with out of the box settings so it is high. If you look in my channel I have created a few videos on how to tweak the m15 and get the best out of it. It is running great after tweaks 👍

The legion 5 pro is a lot cheaper! I have last years model and it is great. The build quality is not on par with the alienware, and it has a lot of plastics in the chassis but performance wise they will be very similar
Thanks! Yah just went with the m17r4! It was 200 off and had 10% coupon on top of it! Only thing I was nervous about is thermals and if fans were a lot louder then other gaming laptops. But seems from your videos the 17 does better with cooling. Are the fans really that bad would be bringing it to work. Great video content by the way keep it up!
Hi Jay they can be if you put them on performance mode (though similar to other gaming laptops) but if you are at work just use it on quiet mode and it is great!
Sorry another question haha so I got the same 17inch you reviewed with the 16gb of ram think that will be enough ram For the years to come.. couldn’t find the 32 for as good of a deal.
Do you think this laptop with 16gb ram and 144hz for $1600 is a good deal? Alternatively looking at the G15 3060 Ryzen for $1100. Not sure if performance upgrade is worth it.
what screen does the G15 have? if you choose the G15 then make sure you get the 165hz screen. The R4 will be a more premium machine and the GPU has a higher TGP. It also has better speakers and keyboard. But it is also noisier.
This is before the tweaking, right? There must be something wrong with my laptop, then. My frame rate basically jumps between 60 - 100. I got the 144hz monitor, but that shouldn't affect performance.
It is, this is out of the box. Make sure you enable MSI afterburner (I have a video on how to set it up) then watch the temps and clock speeds when your frame rate drops. We need to find the culprit to be able to fix it
@@MashITTech Just for the record, I'm comparing your Fortnite results with my own. Honestly, the only number that seems wildly different is memory MB, which is in the 3000s during gameplay, but that's just because I have 16GB RAM vs. your 32. Everything else is fairly similar, other than frame rate. And just to provide more info, my Time Spy score was 10,097, while Fire Strike was 21,323. That Time Spy score is about 500 points below your own.

@@MashITTech the anonymous fella answered our question. Thanks alot. Wonderful reviews. I will be using your videos for undervolting and overclocking. Please in your next video just let us viewers know the actual in-game performance difference between m15 i9-10980HK and 3080 and the m15 i7-10870H. The i9 version in on sale and currently cheaper than the i7 version. So want to grab it quickly if its worth it. Many thanks
@@MashITTech Thanks David. i think no matter what Alienware laptop we get, i think we will definitely need to undervolt it. But in my case i just play for couple of hours a day so lets see how it goes. But its decided then m15 r4 i9-10980HK with 3080. I will order it tomorrow.
oh man.. i was torn between this and the asus zephryus g15 ryzen 9 3070. but went with the Asus. Slimmer and less tdp GPU.. but i like the looks of it.. temps on asus is very cool too... your cpu here was hitting 100 sometimes.. ouch... no undervolts?
Correct, this is out of the box settings. I didn't want to do it tweaked because then if someone gets one it will run much hotter than mine! With tweaking it runs 80-90 with the same performance. Also I was using the balanced profile which is quiet, you can use a louder profile which drops the temps
I have the ASUS as well as the M15 R3 2070S model and I am returning the ASUS because I do not believe their cooling setup is sustainable. The bottom of the display hit 64C directly behind the GPU fan because it expels the heat directly into the panel. there is no way that cant be doing some long term damage to the panel. That plus the relatively poor construction (plastics that give in weird spots) make it a very sad decision to give it up because it really is pretty great.
@@MashITTech Performance is very good for the frame of the laptop. It doesnt look like a gaming PC but performs like one. The 2070S in my Alienware is ~500 points on Timespy since it has a far larger power budget. In terms of heat, the ASUS does let the GPU push to 85C but the CPU stays more in the area of spiking to 95C but most often will rest right around 88-90C in Cold War. It’s quite loud at full tilt, but the keyboard stays considerably cooler than the Alienware. The ASUS excels in battery life though, 6-8hrs of screen time when using it as a normal laptop is standard fare, but gaming gets about the same as my M15. The only three gripes are: No MUX so all gaming on the laptop display is run through the iGPU and affects high FPS gameplay (but it does have intelligent switching between iGPU and dGPU), the heat buildup on the bottom of the display panel, and the poor build quality. It’s not as bad as HP or Lenovo, but at 1800-2500 it needed to be a lot better.
I'm a little concerned about that Warzone FPS... I play on a 1070 (with a 5800X) and I get around 90-110 FPS on low/medium settings.... Hoping to use the m17 R4 I have on order (with the 3070) to power a 3440x1440 monitor.... low/medium settings is fine, but would like to hit 100+FPS...
Btws I just bought this lol , But I was wondering if you could make a vid or if you know many vids of people trying to play games on battery power if you could link me up lol
haha I have made a few videos on this as it is like a furnace out of the box!! Undervolting: ruclips.net/video/SYWkheY6x4g/видео.html performance overview with all tweaks: ruclips.net/video/1dFDmNBJPro/видео.html TCC testing: ruclips.net/video/noFFT4XM1eo/видео.html
The cooling in the m15 is so much worse than the m17. With a modest undervolt my m17 hits no more than 71c. I am using a cooling pad as well but how much that contributes is hard to tell. Nevertheless, great video as always.
Thank you. And you are right! The m17’is amazing, I didn’t even need to make a video like this for the m17 although all the tweaks would work for even lower temps
Wish you played more challenging games like Battlefield V, Metro, Crysis 3, Cyberpunk etc... we already know CS GO will run great on pretty much any laptop.
So I just got off the phone with a Dell Representative and they are saying the CHERRY MX KEYBOARD IS OUT OF STOCK! Anyone else’s order was delayed because of this and now have to cancel?!?!
Oh no way! We ordered ours with cherry mx keyboard on the day of release and it still hasn’t entered manufacturing 😭 I reckon by the time we get it the r6 will be here. Thanks for the info though, our dell rep wouldn’t tell us what the hold up was
Sorry didn’t see your response. Did you sort it? Make sure you update all drivers then follow my guide to set up msi afterburner overlay and then watch the temps. See if it overheats when it crashes
Agreed on the soldered ram, that really sucks. Temps aren’t as much of an issue, just change the fan profile or undervolt and the temps come down. I just wanted to show the out of the box experience

Or does it affect the performance of the laptop over a longer period? Thank you.
In all honesty I would take the 3070 if you mostly game and the 32gb if your priority is heavy work (photo editing, video editing, 3d modelling etc). 16gb is still the sweet spot in games and the extra 2gb VRAM and more coda cores will give you better longevity and FPS whilst gaming 👍
@Mash IT Thank you for the reply. I'm only a casual gamer and I play games like GTA V, Far Cry 5, FIFA, Forza Horizon, etc. Actually I'm an architect, so I would be doing a lot of 2d drafting, 3d modelling, rendering + animation of the 3d models, photoshop and indesign presentations. Of these, the most graphics intensive part would be the 3d modelling + rendering. So in this case, do you suggest to stick with 32GB RAM/ RTX3060 6GB or the 16GB RAM/ RTX3070 8 GB?
Wow?????! My Alienware M17 R2 rtx 2080 maxq got 107 Average FPS in COD. so how 3070 version in R4 doing 90-100? that's kinda weird tbh This should hit at least 120-140FPS bro

deadlyemp - I am running it on balanced which doesn't ramp the fans up too high. Dell lets the machine shoot up to 100c before ramping the fans on balanced, it didn't seem to be throttling.
@@MashITTech Yeah my setting now on Mid-low to get 120 FPS steady and smooth with the 144Hz panel is great, tweaking ray tracing and graphic to high will have me left with 90-107 FPS EDITED: sorry forget to mention that my CPU Temp is 93 MAX after OC because I got crazy i9 in here

Thanks, I need to expand my game library so I can do more for the next one. Thanks for the suggestions 👍
Would you do this same video after the tweaks you made to the laptop? would be really neat to see. I have one on the way and plane on keeping it cooler with your tweaks.
Great video, i just ordered one with 2tb of ssd storage. Can't wait to try it out myself.
Hello. I;m getting this laptop and wondering about the heat of the GPU, while you were showing Minecraft. The GPU went to 90 degrees Celsius. Doesn’t that ruin the GPU? Is there a reason it runs so hot?
thank you friend! really helped me in my purchasing decision!
Glad it was helpful 👍
Good vid! Could you do another with the undervolt/GPU increase you did in the previous vids?
I will try and do that soon, I have a couple of other laptops arriving I need to review first then I can focus back on it 👍
Can you do more videos reviewing this laptop?
I have a fair few outstanding videos to get through then I will certainly do more r4 content
@@MashITTech Thanks!
@Mash IT Thx for your work!!
It seems that the 144hz panel is a wise choice at least for me.
* In first is cheaper than the other options.
*The majority of games render between 100 - 130 fps in ultra. So it's ok.
*The 144hz sync panel has Optimus, therefore better battery life and more flexibility if you use this PC to game and work
What do you think??
Definitely the right choice for most people. I have a 144hz m17r4 with cherry mechanical keyboard on the way. I will be testing advanced optimus and battery life with it :)
@@MashITTech Awesome.. I'm looking forward to that review!
How much of a difference in FPS when you applied throttlestop?
Did you lower clock speeds or just undervolt?
Could use an answer on this too!
You are better off getting a single 1tb SSD and adding a second yourself when you need it
@@MashITTech ok, thank you!

Thank you mate, Much appreciated :)
Would you recommend this laptop for 3d modeling and rendering? How do you like it thus far
@@MashITTech thanks man definitely considering the i9 with 3080
Not sure if you have tried the other one but feelings on either Alienware R15 m4 or the 2021 asus zepharyus g15, m4 at 3070 and 32gb ram, g15 is 3080 with 16 go.
It has the better keyboard (layout, feel and spacing)
It has better speakers
The performance is much better (but can run little hot out of the box so I have created videos to help people bring heat down).
Has better warranty options with Dell (onsite warranty as opposed to the terrible razer warranty)
The blade 15 has better battery life, upgradable ram and is more compact.
It also feels very solid with its machined aluminum chasis.
It has better panel options including 1440p high refresh display which would probably be useful for work
I just picked up a 2020 blade advanced (same cpu as 2021 but 2070super instead of 3070) for a great price so might see if I can knock up a video comparing them.
Sorry for the wall of text but it is always a hard choice
@@MashITTech Thank you so much for your feedback!! You are AWESOME!!!
@Michael Godfrey hey! No.. I’m going to be using it more for rendering 3D designs
The 3070 is a great 1440p card and I have even been gaming on a 3440x1440 ultrawide with good FPS! In all honesty it is capped by the cpu at 1080p
@@MashITTech Do you have any issues with VRAM at that resolution? I'm heavily debating between the Legion 7 and this laptop but the 8 GB VRAM on the 3080 is worrying me since I also have a 3440x1440p ultra wide.
Hey I have a question does this have a mox switch? Or an ability to get more fps
Does your model have the Cherry MX ultra low profile switches? If so, would you do a video on them? No one has covered them yet.
Nope, we ordered this m15 before they were released :( we do have a m17 with cherry mech keyboard ordered on launch day and dell still haven't even manufactured it yet! they have pushed our order back twice. As soon as it arrives I will get info up on the channel 👍
Great review! How do you think the gameplay would compare if I got the OLED model with the 3070 vs 3060 m15 r4?
Well the OLED is beautiful, and will be much better for work, movies and slower paced games. It is only fast paced games that benefit from high refresh rate screen
@@MashITTech thanks! Silly question but if I get OLED would hooking up to an external monitor with a higher refresh rate completely solve this problem when playing games?
Yes, it sure would. I use an Alienware AW2521HFL 240hz monitor hooked up to it (you can see the monitor in my latest video with the G14 if you are interested)
this laptop I got, different specs, but same cpu and gpu runs very well love the fast high refresh rate,

It was plugged in but the FPS was low because I was using custom shaders and had the draw distance on long.

@@MashITTech thank you for your fast reply cheers mate!
The 3080 is quite a bit better but also a lot more expensive. I think the 3070 is better value for money
@@MashITTech thank you for the answer but, I was just wondering what percentage difference in terms of fps it might be having in games?

Are there additional m2 slots if you want to add an nvme drive? I just bought one
There sure are. In total there is 2x 80mm m.2 and 1x 42mm m.2. One of the 80mm will have the primary ssd in your machine. In the m15 vs m17 video in my channel I open them up and show you inside it 👍

@Mash IT cant wait for you to get your hands on the razer blade 15 advanced
I just picked up a bargain 2070 super razer blade advanced which I will be taking a look at soon and comparing to the 3070 to see if it is worth getting an expensive 2021 vs a bargain 2020 model that are currently available
@@MashITTech well done i can't wait
I’d be interested to know if either of them suffer from the black screen issue. On dGPU mode, if the machine goes to sleep or the display turns off while on battery the screen doesn’t turn back on until you reboot the machine. Issue seems to be related to a windows update but Razer haven’t been able to resolve it - ongoing since around July 2020. insider.razer.com/index.php?threads/razer-blade-pro-2020-cant-update-nvidia-drivers.58932/page-20/

Replied to your other post but throttle stop is the answer!
How did you get the GPU temps to be displayed? What program?
It’s called msi afterburner, I created a guide here: Overclock your M15 R4 /M17 R4 graphics card with msi afterburner
It can be used for overclocking too
@@MashITTech Thank you!
It would be much appreciated if you put all the fps and games list at the end. Or in description
Thanks, I am new to doing these game play videos so any feedback and suggestions is appreciated :)
Here are the details if you wish to do the same: ruclips.net/video/1dFDmNBJPro/видео.html
i saw CPU TEMP is too hight! did u resolved or undervolted?

I’m between this one or the Lenovo legion 5 pro🤷🏻♂️ What you think 🤔
@@MashITTech thanks for your reply!
I bought the r417 hope for the best, I want to wait for the msi, but, I cannot wait
Yeah supply seems tight on MSI still, I want to get some in soon for the channel but always out of stock!

Correct, this is out of the box settings. I didn't want to do it tweaked because then if someone gets one it will run much hotter than mine! With tweaking it runs 80-90 with the same performance. Also I was using the balanced profile which is quiet, you can use a louder profile which drops the temps
@@MashITTech ahh make sense.. cool..
Oh that is such a shame :( how is the performance of the ryzen? I haven't been able to get hold of any here in the UK yet
This one or the R6 3060?
The temps are surprisingly high in dota 2
I'm a little concerned about that Warzone FPS... I play on a 1070 (with a 5800X) and I get around 90-110 FPS on low/medium settings.... Hoping to use the m17 R4 I have on order (with the 3070) to power a 3440x1440 monitor.... low/medium settings is fine, but would like to hit 100+FPS...
I am pretty sure you would. I had it fully maxed out with ray tracing enabled and still got good FPS, 1080p wasn’t really stretching its legs

Sorry didn’t see your response. Did you sort it? Make sure you update all drivers then follow my guide to set up msi afterburner overlay and then watch the temps. See if it overheats when it crashes
Man those cpu temps and soldered ram is the reason I decided not to go for an Alienware
Agreed on the soldered ram, that really sucks. Temps aren’t as much of an issue, just change the fan profile or undervolt and the temps come down. I just wanted to show the out of the box experience
Total war war hammer testing =big thumb.
Why don’t you test war hammer 2?
I stupidly didn’t have it downloaded on my external steam drive and my net is so slow! Will try and add it later
@@MashITTech do the last test, I mean, the one with the skaven. The first test shows nothing.
Which of these 2 options in this particular laptop would be a better performer?
Dell Alienware M15 R4.
RTX 3060 6GB vs RTX 3070 8GB?
OPTION 1:-
-Core™ i7-10870H (8-Core, 16MB Cache, up to 5.0GHz Max Turbo Frequency)
-NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3060 6GB GDDR6
Max Graphics Power-130W
Total Graphics Power-115W
Dynamic Boost-15W
Base Clock (MHz)-1387MHz
Boost Clock (MHz)-1702MHz
-32GB DDR4 2933MHz RAM
-512GB (2x256 PCIe M.2 SSD) RAID0
OPTION 2:-
-Core™ i7-10870H (8-Core, 16MB Cache, up to 5.0GHz Max Turbo Frequency)
-NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3070 8GB GDDR6
Max Graphics Power-140W
Total Graphics Power-125W
Dynamic Boost-15W
Base Clock (MHz)-1215MHz
Boost Clock (MHz)-1620MHz
-16GB DDR4 2933MHz RAM
-512GB (2x256 PCIe M.2 SSD) RAID0
Both these are priced similarly. The cheaper 3060 with 32GB RAM or the expensive 3070 with 16GB RAM? Which one to go for?
Also, will there be a fairly noticable performance difference between these two?
So in this case, do you suggest to stick with 32GB RAM/ RTX3060 6GB or the 16GB RAM/ RTX3070 8 GB?
yes, because unless you are heavily gaming AAA titles you probably won't even notice the difference between 3060 and 3070
@@MashITTech Yes, that was my concern. Anyways thank you so much. I appreciate your prompt response.
Wow?????! My Alienware M17 R2 rtx 2080 maxq got 107 Average FPS in COD. so how 3070 version in R4 doing 90-100? that's kinda weird tbh
This should hit at least 120-140FPS bro
CPU temps is killing the machine. I don't think its worth upgrading to R4
I think it might need a higher resolution to stretch its legs. Thanks for the heads up on your 2080 maxq, I was just about to benchmark a few other 2000 series cards to compare the results. PS What settings and did you enable ray tracing?
deadlyemp - I am running it on balanced which doesn't ramp the fans up too high. Dell lets the machine shoot up to 100c before ramping the fans on balanced, it didn't seem to be throttling.
@@MashITTech Yeah my setting now on Mid-low to get 120 FPS steady and smooth with the 144Hz panel is great, tweaking ray tracing and graphic to high will have me left with 90-107 FPS
EDITED: sorry forget to mention that my CPU Temp is 93 MAX after OC because I got crazy i9 in here
@@MashITTech I am really big fan of the company but I kind feel like they should work more on the heatsink and bios because keeping the system above 90 will damage it bad :( am using cool profile to get lower wattage and less temps otherwise I cant enjoy any overclock since its gonna be 100, therefore, you wont get all the performance out of this machine sadly 🤔
damn, I just bought an m17, and it still can't play Minecraft at 60 fps!
Really? is it using the RTX or integrated?
@@MashITTech talking about I your vid 😂 I'm waiting on receiving my computer still
Ah, we were running a lot of mods and texture packs. It will run a lot better out of the box. I don’t play mine craft myself so let Gary set it up and I think he went overkill 😂
serious CPU throttle 100C in fortnite
Yikes, when it hit 212 F° it hurt even tho it isn't my pc
Yes the out of the box temps are crazy. I did a few tweak videos where I undervolt and use TCC etc an it is now running much cooler
