Joe Satch is a badass guitarist. His creativity is out of this world only rivaled by Steve Vai (his former student, also a former teacher to kirk Hammett). So he needs not rip anyone's off or sound like anyone and yes he's not a band guy. He's been releasing solo albums since the mid 80's. From Satch Boogie to the Extremist to countless other tunes he's released, he doesnt need to prove himself at this point in his career so he's getting a check & having fun
There may never be a Joe without Eddie. You may be able to plug Joe into almost any band in the world....but Eddie's songs and riffs are by far more memorable and leave a lasting impression. Love Joe but it's not close.
