    6:05 thermoelectric.. no, that's phase-change compressor, its a small heatpump/refrigeration unit.
Thermoelectric is using those plates that are power hogs if your desired temperature is quite different.
if it can heat up the water, its by running the compression cycle in reverse. cooling the room while dumping heat into the water. on small scale, its easier to just use a tank heater.
most shops i see dont pump aquarium water directly into the chiller, they use stainless steel pipes bent into multiples s-bends, they hang the pipes in the aquarium sumps or aqaurium backs. they use an inline pump to move the chilled distilled water around.

I think some salt water set ups need very constant temperatures so that's what comes to mind that would need both a heater and a chiller for year round constant temperatures. Freshwater is so much more forgiving!

I just bought the exact same chiller it works amazing for its size the 1/10hp chiller I am cooling 45 gallons on a loop system meaning, I have a res bucket with the pump and enough water to cover the pump and around 20 feet of smaller hose looped at the bottom of both of my grow res's creating a closed loop system chilling RO water so that I do not have to clean the chiller from sediments or dirty water so no bacteria build up or anything to worry about and it works great however it never turns off but the temps are 67f in one res and 68f in the other res just amazing. Oh just make sure and insulate your grow buckets and reservoir's with some foam wrapping.

Hi! I just setup this chiller in my home and I’ve been trying to see if anyone else that is using it experiences a small odor coming from it? Mine gives off a faint smell of something burning. Does yours do that too?

@iamthehighway7687 Yes, mine also smelt like plastic burning it is the new smell breaking in, no worries.

Hi! Thanks for making this video!! I just setup this chiller in my home and I’ve been trying to see if anyone else that is using it experiences a faint smell of burning coming from it. Do you notice a smell at all? I know it generates a ton of heat, so my guess is it’s normal.

OK Sean the truth, We all saw the bottle. What was in it really? Nitrous Oxide or some moonshine that fixes your sinus. As long as it works right? I used to say it. Jokes aside, I keep my house in the summer at 24 C cool so I don't need a separate chiller. Now towards the winter, I have 21C so a small 50W heaters I use.

@@pecktec the link takes you to the chiller's website and has 4 choices (1/10hp, 1/4hp, 1/3hp and 1.5hp) but I do think it highlights the 1/10hp. Thanks.
