Don, the Better Business Bureau investigates complaints and provides information to consumers, but it's not a government agency and has no authority to shut down any business.
Also, any business can be a member of the Better Business Bureau as long as they pay a fee. BBB only reports on member businesses. And, yes, they have no authority to close any business.
BBB can not shut down anything. They can only give information
I don't see what is the hassle with the ship leaving 30 minutes early? It's planned. So, people can just plan accordingly.
Every residential ship I’ve ever heard of has finances that don’t add up. I’d stay far away from the entire concept.
The BBB can not shut down any business. In the US, they just tell the public when there have been numerous complaints about a particular company.
A residential ship does not appeal to me. I am not rich enough, am too nervous about the scams, and would probably be bored after the first month.
I’m so tired of scammers. If this is a crime, I hope the victims get their money back and someone is shipped to Siberia.
I would love if my ship left earlier because that means my vacation also starts earlier!
It doesn't matter when the ship leaves, arrive the day before and book a hotel. Delays happen.
Is the detained ship the one that was "Chartered" for all the extra security for the G7 conference?
Yep
Sad if people loose money in the residential cruise ship offer
Best cruise advice - make sure they actually have a ship! 😁
Don't trust these residential ships if I was going to do that I would just book multiple cruises on different ships
Come on man. Half hour early. No story there. If people can't adjust to 30 min, that's on them.
Resident cruise ships sound like timeshares, later you get a bill for your portion to repaint the ship after you already paid for it. “Maintenance fees” that are made up to any random amount.
Why do people keep falling for the same residential ship with no ship scam?
DON PLEASE FIX THE INTRO. ITS TO LONG. 18 1:2 sec way to long. Stop punishing your subscribers. Please. Make it short like Just Don. Please reply never to hear from you.

So sad when people are scammed
Galápagos Islands is a definite bucket list cruise. …ahh if money was no object….
Hate these cruise ship scams. Wow
Nope don’t want to live on a cruise ship!
Residential ship--hummm--"If it sounds too good to be true?" --yea--well--listen to that inner voice nagging at you. "It probably is!"
Foreign entities scamming, oversell and bail.
Why don't these people go on the Grand tours offered by other cruise lines. I don't think it is a good idea to send in a deposit on a ship before it is ready to board.
hate to see people scammed .
Oh my, here we go again. Come on people, there's all kind of info on social media to do your due diligence.
I wouldn't sign up for a residential ship BUT....the vlogs from the current 9 month sailing of Serenade of the Seas sounds fabulous and apparently the guests can't say enough good about Royal. I think that 9 months would be my limit. At least it would be a good try before a residential consideration and then it would need to be a reputable company.
Howdy Don, Galapagos ships with small capacity. Already subscribed and even hit the like button. That's why you should always get to where the ship is the day before at the very least. The residential ships seem risky.
Boarding cut off time follow up question : If sail away is 4pm and published "Start Boarding" time is 12:30 PM, doe they really think they can get 2500 - 6000 passengers on board in 1.5 hours if the stop boarding time is 2 hours before sail away?
I think people often start boarding earlier than that. We often see people arriving to board when we are disembarking ships in the later groups.
More reason to arrive the day before the cruise sets sail.
Celebrity will probably save in maintenance and fuel costs along with management costs.
I just wanted to say thank you for always having great content. I'm in the travel industry, and try to check in daily for your summaries of the latest news in cruising. And I DO hit the "Like" button each time. Keep up the great work!
My cruise on the Carnival Sunshine out of Charleston, SC on Nov 9th had an embarkation change from 4 to 3:30 as well.
Love the pictures I love trying to see if I recognize them great pictures of different places. Oh no residential ships., Id make sure it's a good company. Hmm not sure how I feel about time change.
The BBB is not completely trustworthy in my opinion. I once had a horrendous experience with a plumbing company (BBB member company) and they were highly rated on the BBB. I got a free heating system out of it because they messed up so bad
Never been on Celebrity ships, I don't have enough money to live on a ship but if I did, I would!
A residential cruise ship sounds enticing but I'm sure I would get bored after a while. I'd rather experience other ships. Also health emergencies are bound to happen..
I cruise for the activities etc on the ship. A residential ship to me would be boring. Same people not much to do...kind of like most small cruise line ships
Don - shouldn't you mention where the Carnival Paradise sails from?
Also, to help your "brand" can you spend 30 seconds and at least run your intro text above through a spell checker? Or find a 6th grader who would have caught the 3 misspellings and 3 grammatical errors.
Misinformation about Better Business Bureau causes one to wonder about your overall care for accuracy
Can you explain the new price listing's from cruise lines in july?
I have never been on any ship that left at the designated time on Embarkation day. Maybe they are making it 30 minutes earlier so they can leave closer to the regular time.
I’m sailing on the Carnival Sunshine in September and got a similar email stating the 3:30 departure time.
Don't worry. The ship will wait for you. NOT!!!!
Residential ships sound too risky to me.
Our embarkation time for the Carnival Sunshine out of Charleston on July 20 has been changed from 4:00 to 3:30.
The ships that people wanna retire on, they gotta get older and older. The technologies will not be updated What happens when it goes in the dry dock? Where you go then. I don't think retiring on a cruise ship was the best idea personally, for me to.
Chuck full of good information today!! Tx
not going to turn over that much money without checking them out
For the larger ships which can’t get everyone off by noon, or later, how on earth are they going to reboard in 1-2 hours?
Never trust to good to be true
Our ncl ship changed our time for July 3 sailing.
Thought about be but after reviewing statistics looked like a bad investment.
A residential cruise ship sounds fun for about a month. Not for me.
I would never sign up for a travel forever ship.
They really aren’t moving every day. It’s closer to moving from city to city and getting to know it for a month or so! So yes you are traveling but also experience the real life in the city/country.
Isn’t there another resident cruise ship?
Interesting topics, thanks!
BBB is almost useless anymore here in the states
No, if i were to live on a ship it would be RCL
I would love to retire on a cruise ship
Happy 🎉 Thursday
It's a big NOPE for me.
Thank you as always - good info for us
Thank you for the update.
I've thought about it, but....
Caveat Emptor.
Wassup
Too many et ceteras in this one
Not for us 😂
Love the topics!!! People still don't understand that they can't wait for you even if you call them and tell them you are going to be late. That's why I always book excursion through the cruise line. I'll pay a little more to be back on the ship.
I have no problems with a cruise or flilght changing departure time to be 30 minutes earlier as long as this is the time announced when I book the flight/cruise so I know how to prepare for it. For for something I have already booked and made plans for, a last minute change can be a problem.
Curious to see if they will be more leniant with boarding cut off times in July and AUgust for people who arrive up to 30 minutes late based on new time since that won't actually delay ship's departure time unless this numbers in the thousands of passengers.
Maybe celebrity is going to build new ships for the Galapagos Islands. Which would be cool, that's a bucket list for us. Hopefully those people get there money back that they gave that cruise line. It's not fair how some people prey on people and scam there money. That half hour window could affect a lot of people.
Hi Don
The smaller ships were less expensive than the Flora. Is Celebrity trying to fill the hole from RCL selling Azamra. I not fond of all the Celebrity changes.
No
We have been there twice on the expedition and the flora! It was magnificent! I wish more brands had expedition ships
Scammers need to be held accountable. Hope it doesn't happen to us ⚓️
Carnival Paradise will probably shoot themselves in the foot over this strategy
People still want to fly in the day of their embarkation
The Expedition was nice as a small ship, when the flora came out it was more expensive too!
Would love resident cruise, just don’t have the $$$$ s
We were just on the Exploration in February.
How can they possibly sell a ship to live on it.
Interesting mix of news today
I live 15 minutes from the Tampa port. We love going to watch the ships coming and going.
Keep up the good work!
Hey Don
Hey Don.
Thank you Don for another newies cruise news day. 🥰🫶💕
