@@catheyandersen5232 don’t be too stressed we cruise almost exclusively in late October and into mid November. We are up to about 12 cruises and have only had one or two minor changes to itinerary.
In theory, since it started quite early this year…we have a good chance things will go smoothly in October.
Really? We're driving our RV down to Florida in November for the winter and I thought hurricanes would be done by then.

We had a cruise get re-directed in 2011. The captain sailed away from the storm so we had an extra day at Sea. NCL provided a big party on the Lido deck with free rum punch. A server brought a tray of beverages to our table and I asked him to just leave the tray (12 beverages) YAY. He did leave the tray and at the end of the trip I gave him a large tip.

East coast...West Florida...We were on MSC during a hurricane. They crew did a great job and we simply went away from the storm... Hurricane season is not almost over...well maybe. But September is close to the peak season. The season is over in November...

Our first (and only) cruise, we ran into (at that time) the second worse hurricane in the history of hurricanes (no longer but this was long ago). We had to miss the Dominican Republic (no loss) because oil tankers were being thrown up on the beach and spent a couple of days in extreme turbulence. The dining room walls were creaking and when the ship would hit the waves, it sounded like were were hitting something solid. Lots of people were sick and VERY angry. We got extra time in two other ports after it passed so we were happy. We certainly had a tale to tell when we got home.
Who were they angry with?

They basically blamed him and actually hadn't bothered to read the back of their ticket (paper tickets then - dates me) that very specifically says they aren't responsible for Acts of God. People wanted to get off the ship and all kinds of bizarre stuff. One guy went to the Captain to complain and threw up right in front of him. Me, I basically laid down on my bed and ate saltine crackers to settle my stomach most of the time. My husband ran around the ship checking everything out. He loved it. We were one of the lucky ships. One ship had everyone at the muster stations for hours and other had a fire.

My son is on the NCL Bliss in Alaska. There is a huge storm there that the ship is trying to outrun. They cancelled Ketchikan and will go to Vancouver instead.

Hurricanes can roll in as late as November.
Hurricane season is not almost It's 1/2 of the year. According to Tony, it's JJASON =>June, July August, Sept, Oct & November, & we are about 2/3 of the way through. People need to pack their patience, get travel insurance and not worry about missing ports. The cruise line will always do what is the safest for their passengers.
At this point I would not be booking any cruise that has a port stop in Labadee, Haiti. Surely RCI can find another 'island' to use.

13 ships?!?!?!? Thats more ships than some nation’s Navy. No wonder the oceans are polluted. Prices should be quadrupled.
What’s funny is that if you were able to be on all 13 cruises at the same time, you wouldn’t be able to distinguish one experience from the other.
My husband and I got off the jubilee last Saturday. Weather was great!!! Sad the next cruise is being hit by this hurricane. Hopefully, their cars aren’t underwater when they get back to Galveston. The cruise port parking shuttle service is always amazing in Galveston
You said West coast of the country. It's the West coast of Florida and the Panhandle. Florida is on the East coast of the USA. Hurricane season is not even close to being over. That happens on Nov 30th.
It's the Disney Wonder that goes between Alaska and Australia. The Disney Dream is currently in dry dock for a refresh until she comes back to Fort Lauderdale.
Don, where do you get your info? We are only half way thru the hurricane season with September usually being the most active, this is September. Just sayin.
Hope Tony & Jenny are out of harms way! We live SouthEast of them - just lots of rain and some wind. We are fortunate this year, so far! Cruises out of Florida are hard during the hurricane season plus those people who flew.

No Disney ships are scheduled to go to New Caldonia. The Disney Wonder is on the West coast sailing from Vancouver to Hawaii and the rest of the fleet is in the Bahamas and Caribbean. The Disney Dream that was mentioned in the story is currently in a month long dry dock in Brest France after their European season has ended. Not sure which ship/cruise line is not supposed to be sailing to new Caldonia.

It's normal to experience, delays and missed port stops during hurricane season. A extra day at sea is not a bad thing at all. We loved going to Labadee, it was beautiful. That's awesome they have all the show's and venues up and running for this sailing.
Latin music is really exciting. …this hurricane reminds me to pay attention closely during September to the weather…..sad to think more ports are not accepting cruises.

September is peak hurricane season. We had a baggage handler tell us once hurricane season lasted till November.
For all of those people that complain about diversions etc. due to storms, just go on youtube and search for cruise ships in storm/hurricane and you will understand why you don't want to get caught up in one.

I've got a couple of stops in New Caledonia in November on the Westerdam. I hope they can find a couple of make-up ports if there is still unrest
Don ,tony covered all the ships that had their routes changed because of storm .i would not go on such silly game shows to try to get attention,why anybody would want to go and make themselves look stupid in front of a big crowd of people? Those so much more you could do than go to that,well hopefully your cruise is over soon to stay out of the reach of these storms,hope Tony and Jenny b are safe ,at least they aren’t in this hurricane,it is not a good time to be on a ship!

We don’t cruise to the areas where hurricanes are possible during the hurricane season. We book the cruises months in advance and you just can’t predict what the mother nature has in store. Thanks for the cruise updates!
