      Hello,
For that model and others the jumper is gone. Now, to reset the BIOS password you’ll meed to: with the computer connected to the power but turned off you need to press the power button for 30 seconds, not 40 not 20.
Warning: this process resets the bios config to factory settings, meaning if you have a specific configuration in the bios, that will be lost.
      Hope it helps

    • @MyITWorkshop

      Hello,
I don't think it's related to the BIOS, as it doesn't control permissions in the operating system for Windows or Linux.
I'd think the issue lies on the permissions your account has on the OS windows/linux.
Now, to reset the BIOS settings, normally you need to remove the CMOS battery on the motherboard for around 1 minute, put it back again and turn on the computer.
      Hope it helps

If the host is not connected to AC power for a long time, will the CMOS battery run out quickly? Every time I boot, the BIOS SETUP option appears. Press F1 to start the operating system.

      Hello Yan,
The same happened to me with a Dell Optiplex 30XX after i reset the Bios password. What solved the issue in my case was: Power down the computer, disconnect any USB devices, monitor and power cord, press the power button for 10-20 secs, release the power button. Next, connect everything back again. This is done to clear any remaining power in the capacitor on the motherboard. After that the message was not shown again.
      Hope it helps

Hello, thank you for the brief explanation.
I have dell optiplex 3040, after I change cmos battery, it always shown message “time of day not set”, several solutions i tried it didn’t work such as
    - change again the cmos bat with new one
    - update bios to the new one, I did it twice, the result was same
    - reset cmos by removing jumper pin for 30 sec place it in another pin and put it back again.
    - try your step in this video
All step did not work 🥲😥
Do you have any solutions for this?
    Kindly advise
    Thank you

      Hi,
Ok, I’d try, after you replaced the old cmos battery and saved the configs you made in the bios like time/date, disconnect everything from the computer, from keyboard to power cable. Press the power button for 20-30 secs, that will clean up all the power stored in the capacitors. Then, connect everything back and see if it still show the message.
      Hope it help

@@MyITWorkshop Hi, thank you for your kind response.
I already tried 3 times but the result was same, it's only happened when the power is off (UPS off) then put it on again and start the booting.
No message was appear if I shutdown with UPS is on, maybe the electricity is there.
When try your step, I don't release the CMOS battery and place it again, just unplugged all the components and press the power for 30 secs.
Do I need to unplug and plug the CMOS, kindly advise.
      Thanks a lot

      Hello,
      This has been asked before.
For these new models that dont have a jumper, you will need to reach out to Dell support so they can generate a master password based on your serial number. There are websites that also say to do the same and charge for it. Never tries those

I mentioned this on other videos.
New models like the 7090, 5080 dont have the reset jumper. Dell removed from many if not all models. In order to reset the bios password you’ll meed to contact Dell support for them to give you a master password for your model.

AFter that, put the cmos battery back, turn on the computer and see if the password is gone.

    • @MyITWorkshop
      @MyITWorkshop  Год назад

      @@theonecommenter Hey,
Dell will ask you for the device service tag and of course if it is under warranty. They can generate master Bios/admin password based on that.
If you have access to windows on that machine you might be able to update the bios running the .exe file. If what is configured is the Admin password and you need to type that password when the computer turns on then Dell support OR other sketchy websites are the solution.

      Hello,
I have a 5080 as well and it does not come with the jumper either, even though the manual says it should have one. I tried removing the the CMOS battery, but nothing. Something that you can try, havent tested it yet, with the computer connected to the AC power but turned off. Press the power button for 30 secs, make sure it's 30, not 25 or 40. For more info I have the website: www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000126023/how-to-reset-real-time-clock-rtc-to-recover-your-dell-desktop-system#Shortcut_1

@@MyITWorkshop Start the RTC reset with the system powered off and connected to AC power. Press and hold the power button for thirty (30) seconds. The system RTC Reset occurs after you release the power button.
NOTE: Real-Time Clock (RTC) reset is available on select Dell OptiPlex, Inspiron, Dell Precision, Vostro, or XPS Desktop PCs only. Refer to the table at the bottom of this page.
NOTE: If power is removed from the system during the process or the power button is held less than 25 s or longer than 40 s, the RTC Reset process is aborted.
The RTC reset resets the BIOS to Defaults, un-provision Intel vPro (The IT administrator’s vPro account and password on the system will be "unprovisioned," and the system will need to go back through the setup and configuration process again to connect it to the vPro server again.) and reset the system date and time.
During the reset process, the system will restart several times and depending on how it is configured. You may see keyboard backlight or other LED indications during the period the power button is held and after it is released. Once the reset is complete, the system should reboot and the Dell Splash screen display will indicate reset success.
NOTE: Once RTC reset is complete, the system may remain in a no boot status until the time, date and other bios settings (SATA drive selections, etc.) are correctly set to boot to Windows. Failing to boot immediately after a reset does not mean that the reset has failed.
You may also need to restore the previous BIOS settings, such as the SATA Operation mode (ex. RAID On AHCI) for the system to reboot normally.
Maybe it would help you... I read this from the Google... Please reply if any thing you have understood. 🙂🙏
