Kenny Schrader is one of the nicest people in NASCAR history.
Alot of people don't know this and I myself went back and educated myself but Mr. Schrader was THE Kyle Larson of dirt racing in his day!!
he was one of the first open wheel guys to go to NASCAR and not go to USAC and Indy. Some of the background on Days Of Thunder is based on Cole Trickle being a dirt racer. Which was somewhat based on Schrader's path to NASCAR.
Not quite sorry. I like schrader but kyle is in another league.
@@garygoudeau8346 what he meant was that Ken Schrader and later Tony Stewart were dirt warriors who loved to dirt track race.
A true racer
Mr. Schrader is a great racer but even a better human being. Thanks for the interview.
Schrader such a humble guy. Kenny Schrader another racing ambassador Great show herm. Keep racing Herm. The sport needs you.
I love That Kenny turned Dale Jr into a man that one weekend, Treated him like one of the boys, and kept it quiet from the old man, He is a Legend and top ten of My favorite Motorsport drivers of all time,
That was the funniest , and then most touching interview Dale has ever done. The way Dale told him he was "sorry he had to be the one to see dad, ...but was glad it was him because he knew Kenny would take that delicate information to his grave", ....tore me up!
Ken Schrader is so badass! He's never going to quit racing or drinking cold ones! Atta boy! Life is good!
When you look at these 2 racers and the Vehicles they raced over the years which lacked of modern day safety features. They are both are still racing. Pretty Awesome.
You two are Freakin funny ! - Your kinship really shows - and I also think Schrader is the best ever ! - Gotta be a reason so MANY folks luv this guy ! Thanx Herm
Who doesn't love Kenny Schrader. He has to be the busiest guy in racing. What a great guy. Great interview Herm. My only complaint is the interview wasn't longer 😂. I could have watched for another 2 hours. Need a part 2. I'd like to know how he got started in racing. A detailed history of his racing career.
This, right here, is what’s missing in cup racing today. The personalities.
❤
100 % I have no interest in NASCAR any more but love these interviews
Schrader could teach drivers how to interact with the fans. I had the honor of being his guest twice. I watch him interact with fans of all ages. The one story that sticks in my mind and will always be there is this one. A young fan was just staring at Kenny. Too afraid to approach. Kenny saw this and walked to the kid and started talking to him. That kid has got to be in his 30's now and you know he is a Schrader fan for life.
Glad to hear from Schrader man ,One of My all-time favorite drivers and People ..God Bless Yall!!!!
Best Kenny Conversation yet!!!
I'm not old enough to have remembered Schrader when he was at the top of his game in Cup, but he's one driver I've grown to love as I've followed his journey back to dirt, and subsequently learned of his early career in USAC etc. Helluva racer, and helluva human being.
Thanks for putting this up!
My father always called him- Kenny "I'll drive anything for fun and profit" Schrader...lol...always been a huge fan of Kenny and mad respect for him and his accomplishments...also not to forget he's funny as hell also..lol
i could listen to you two talk all night. Need a part 2
I don't want to bring no bad luck, but I think the day Kenny no longer races will be when he no longer breathing ! Love you guys have had the chance to see him in a late model two times one time at Interstate Speedway, and Elkins Speedway but that's been years ago ! Keep slinging dirt Kenny !
They broke the mold when Ken Schrader was born.. he is a 'One Of' human being.. and racer...
Love Schrader! I've been a huge Schrader fan since 1988 when he won Talladega. Had the privilege of speaking with him on several occasions in Delaware in my pre-teen years. Also had the privilege of being in the infield in 91 when he won Dover. My dad and I found a hole in the fence so we snuck into victory circle to witness the awesome celebration with our Kodiak gear on! Even though I was only 12 at the time, that is one special day that I will never forget.
Nice 👍
Love when Ken Schrader comes up to Ohsweken Speedway in Ontario Canada. Always go to the pits to get a shirt and hopefully a little chat when he is there. Definitely a class act!
Schrader is my all time favorite racer. I spent a lot of time at Highland speedway growing up in late 80’s and it was always extra exciting when he showed up to run!
Kenny is one of the coolest guys on the planet. 67 years old and still playing in the dirt. Awesome show Kenny W.
Who could forget the post race 98 Daytona interview?
"Kenny, how are you feeling?
I'm ok.... I knew I'd be ok I wore my Kenny Wallace shirt today. 😂😂😂
Love both the Kenny's...
Loved this conversation, I turn 66 in July, bought a 2003 Corvette Z06 earlier this year, and am now doing auto cross in the STL SCCA district, having a blast, will never stop till they put me in the ground,
Met Schrader, at a autograph session, back in 90. I sat in line, well into a hour, to meet him, and have a Skoal clock autographed. When I got to the table, he brought me around, behind the table, under the tent, right alongside him.
Talked with me, like we were old friends. SUPER nice, down to earth, our kind of guy.
I hope everyone in Nascar watches this. You can get some great advice from Ken! Thank you guys for another awesome video!
Kenny Schrader is a National Treasure!!!🇺🇸
Ive always had a lot of respect for Kenny Schrader. Always seemed to be a super clean racer. I have always appreciated the wisdom he has shown at critical moments too. You look at the day that Dale was killed. Kenny could not have handled that situation any more perfectly. Yet, you knew just because his honest heart just couldn't hide the truth. Hard racer and all around great guy!
KENNY AND KENNY JUST BAD ASS AND STILL GOING BAD ASS IN MY BOOK😊❤❤✌
I love both of you guys. Schrader is the real deal. Kenny Wallace you need to come Toledo and run a school bus with Schrader.
In my early 50's for 5 years I went Go kart racing. The 60 mile trip home was so long when we did poorly but it went by quick when we won. Next race we did it all over again. Good times
One of my all-time favorite race drivers. He would stop by Spider Stultz's Motor Imports store in Collinsville when the Cup drivers were at Martinsville. A true American gentleman who turns left on American dirt! I could listen to Ken Schrader tell racing stories for hours.
I love when the Kenny's get together and tell stories. I've always enjoyed Kenny Schrader and yourself. By the way Kenny, My Drinking Team has a Racing Problem 🏁
I love seeing my 80’s - current hero’s Still racing. These guys are all Champions
OMFG !! THERE IS NO WORDS TO DiSCRIBE THE LEGEND THAT IS KENNY SCHRADER -- WHAT AN INCREDIBLE RACER/ INDIVIDUAL GUY HE IS ! WHO ISN,T A FAN OF HIS . ( U R DOING A SUPER JOB ON THESE PODCASTS KENNY - JUST LOVING THEM , KEEP EM COMIN !!! ) ❤❤👌👌👍👍
Kenny is one of if not the most fan friendly driver ever. Have spoken with him several times years back at many sprint car shows.👍🏻Thanks Kenny you as well Hermie
I have something to tell the people about Ken Schrader. One night 30 plus years ago. Kenny pulls in to the little dirt track in Southern Indiana. He had a huge truck and trailer when everyone else had haul trucks and trailers.
I remember my dad and his buddies making comments about "Mr.Big Shot or Daddy Warbucks" coming to show the hillbilly how to race.
By the time heat races were started everyone who gave him a chance found out he was just a racer. He spoke to everyone about racing. Everyone was an equal. There was not a single stuck yp bone in his body.
I know Kenny thought he was just racing but, I know now he was making memories for everyone he met. He was an ambassador for NASCAR and Kenny Schrader. God Bless You Mr.Schrader
Schrader is funny lol tell him we love him then and now
Good ol Schrader. I helped him push his late model on the trailer at Laurens speedway in SC several years ago. Gotta great pic with him to go with it I was star struck lol❤
Lovem both! K Wallace this was one of your better episodes IMHO.
You asked the question, why do racers do the 9-5 forever just so they can go racing on the weekends and in some cases forsaking everything else in life. Well, a couple weeks ago I went to a celebration of life for a buddy of mine (Known him 39 years) and somewhere back in the mid 80's my brother and I helped him build his first ever motor for a short track car he had bought. He went on to do it all at his local track, entry level to late models, and won in each division along the way. There were somewhere around 60 people at his wake and most of those people knew him from his racing. It was a family thing and I know he enjoyed life more because of it. RIP my ole friend. Hey, love both of you guys and I've watched and followed your racing from the beginning.
Yall are the "missouri gang"..lol..you guys are so dam awesome..Herman, I watch the flo clip of you at gateway almost everyday to get me fired up for the day..hate coffee so that works 🤣
Wow this is amazing . Schrader is one of my hero’s . You too Kenny . Red farmer , and I’m a 20 year old guy from the south who just loves dirt racing . This made my day . Thanks Kenny and Kenny
Ken Schrader is a class act. Racing may be better today but the personalities of decades gone by is unmatched. Having heard the term, “racers racer” I think it was mad up for Schrader.
I was in Lawrenceburg on Monday, and I about lost my mind when I saw his car sitting in the pits. I've wanted to see him race for several years and it was such a cool surprise to see him. Ran back to the pits to grab a photo with him after the race and he was just as gracious as you would expect. Thanks for coming out to our local tracks and putting on a show for the race fans.
The Kenny's are a National treasure. Us fans really appreciate all you guys do for the sport and the way you treat people with respect.
I've always liked KS the guy is so real and as far racing KW it's his way of keeping the old man out.👍
Ou two are awesome. I look up to you both. Kenny Schrader I remember you would come back and go to Eat Right on Hwy 30.
THANK YOU FOR having one of my two fav Nascar drivers please please if you still have access to him tell him Thank you for his book loved it and tell him, and he will laugh, I"M SO SO SORRY that he has had to carry that memory of Dale Sr when he crashed thanks Kenny
Schrader is the best, a real racer and true gentleman. You never know where you might find him. 👍
a lot of wisdom between the two. TY Enjoyed Herm. My stepdads brother worked for red baron (Schwan’s). We got to go to most the southern races and give away pizza. We had an absolute blast tagging along with Kenny and the gang.
Wow man that sounds fun as hell!
Inside Nextel cup was my favorite speed tv show mainly because of Ken.
It would be a blast to sit in that garage and drink beer with those two!
This conversation with K Schrader opened my eyes on NASCAR. Being from the Ozarks, I have been a Schrader fan since he started driving for Ray Marler! I respect his opinion on NASCAR. Chris Economaki would always make it a point to interview Ken Schrader! Luv K Schrader!
Kenny You could do a whole series on Kenny Schrader :0) I would love to hear you talk about the days when your Brother and Kenny would come down to The Ozark Empire Fairgrounds and race with the great Larry Phillips, Willie Crane, David Goldsberry, and many other drivers. That is part of racing history that goes all the way to the Cup level of racing.
Another great Kenny Conversation. I met Kenny Schrader when he was racing a yellow Ford Granada at the Milwaukee Mile for a USAC stockcar race a long time ago. He was then as he is now a very unassuming guy. It is very interesting to me and may be to others that Dick Trickle is thought so highly by the Kenny's and other drivers. It would be interesting to know why Dick Trickle is thought so highly by his fellow drivers. Maybe this could be explained in a Kenny Conversation.
Got to see Ken at Lawrenceburg this Past Monday 😎
glad to see him still coming to canada, we love you up here kenny..
Wish I could see Kenny run dirt again at the Indy mile fairgrounds track,,What a great time
You could do whole show on Schrader’s shop! What a cool couple of racers!!
Love you both so much, and both of you are on my top 16. Schrader is on the pole and Wallace is pole 3.
school bus racin' is wild!! & kenny schrader is one cool dude!
Just love Kenny Schrader. We need part 2
I was blessed to have ran my first street stock feature C race at Flatrock speedway and won. 8 cars 8 laps. That was my career. Loved every minute. Still love to watch ARCA at MSI. Great interview with Kenny and yourself.
I've always liked Schrader, ever since I was a kid. I coulda watched a whole hour more of this. Loved every minute of it. So much to see in his shop too, definitely gotta go back sometime.
Another great interview kenny. I've always liked ken schrader,he was one of the most respectful guys on and off the racetrack. And he raced everyone clean. I wished he could've won more races in cup. Just a really nice guy. So thank you Kenny.
We need to see more of Schrader
What a Great show. I love Kenny Schrader he was the 1st NASCAR driver I ever met. Was so friendly and autographed 2 cars for me. Kenny Wallace you are awesome, keep up the great shows.
Ken Schrader is awesome, sharp as a tack, the ultimate definition of a true, nice and genuine person.
One good thing about the 'old' days is the cars had the same paint scheme most the of year. It was easy to recognize the cars on TV.
Please do more of these with Schrader. Awesome!!!
I love Kenny Schrader!!!! He’s an absolute legend and a great guy. ❤
I really enjoyed the video Kenny Schrader is a racing legend and a really good guy keep on racing to you both racing is the best legal drug
My favorite Kenny Schrader quote after a cup race years ago that he had an engine failure. When the reporter in the pits asked him what happened, he said "Something real important in the motor broke" Classic !
I love the good ole days of racing, but I like what's happening now too. Loved seeing Schrader. Loved seeing Dick Trickle on the wall. Great job Kenny & Kenny.
Legends! Schrader is my all time favorite 👍🏻
Need more of these episodes and the advertising agrees I just bought blinds watching the figure out the left with the Ken's.
Kate and I love you both! I was a big Gordon fan but would have loved to have a beer with Schrader. Kudos Herman
My two favourite Kenny's having an insightful, open, honest and hilarious conversation about my favourite topics. Couldn't ask for more.
I was a little kid when Schrader raced in cup. He was not only my favourite driver but his personality has made me a lifelong fan. I loved the show you both did in the early 2000's, Inside the Nextel Cup, and I never missed an episode. I'll never forget the one where Schrader said, That's when I turned the M&Ms car into the W&W car. So funny it still makes me laugh today. The two of you are total legends. As racers, in the racing industry and as awesome people. I could listen to Kenny and Kenny conversation all day.
Schrader! Man this takes me back. I grew up watching you guys race as I became a race fan in ‘96. Schrader was driving the Budweiser #25 and Kenny was driving the Square D #81. Great times!
I've always enjoyed Schrader, Hell of a wheel man.
2 of my all time favorites. Thanks Kenny
Two Legend Kenny's in one place. That is alot of legend in one spot. I love you both. The coolest dudes on earth. Have either one of you ever raced at the 1/2 mile dirt track in Hartford Michigan in your lifetime?
Just love Kenny Schrader. ❤
Yeah, school bus racing. It's all about the engine! My wife is all about Schrader. She belonged to the Kenny Schrader Fan Club for many years and was her favorite driver. Thanks Kenny Wallace for having him on the channel. P.S. Back in his NASCAR days we built our Sundays around stock car racing on TV and off to the local dirt track Sunday night. When Joey Logano started running drivers off the track, that was it for me. Now it's common place and won't watch it. I totally relate Schrader racing with Federated Auto Parts. I see the logo on the car, to me it's Kenny. There's an 82 year old former late model dirt racer that is going to start racing a street stock in our area. He said he just missed racing for so long and felt good enough to get back into it. It gets in your blood and never leaves I guess.
This was so cool. Two of the nicest, humble, absolute champions in the world of Motorsport.
We can all learn a lot from these two legends. I love all your videos Kenny. #comingfromaustralia 👍
Hey Wallace! I'm only two minutes into this one... but GREAT INTERVIEW! Schrader is one of the great ones! Gonna love hearing his stories! 😎
Proud to be a MO native along with these two guys!
Me too .I saw these two race at Quincy I'll several years ago. They put on my favorite race to date
KS is awesome I’ve always loved watching him race. A true racer👍🏻🏁🇺🇸
This is so cool. 2 entertaining guys talking about what they love. So good to see Schrader again. 2 guys who will drive anything, even a school bus.
School bus figure 8, thanks for mentioning Toledo speedway Schrader! Thanks for the interview Kenny
Kenny Schrader has been my guy since Davey Allison left us and Ernie Irvan left the sport. I always loved how Kenny was a "dirt guy" and yet he would kick everyone's butt on the super-speedways. Always humble and never bigger than the sport.
Good show Hermon, Schrader is and always will be a legend.
I have a leather Schrader hat never been warn. M&M's
Thanks guts and looked for more shop talk with Kenny.
My two favorite Kenny's!
Love what you both have done for racing.
About time you got Kenny on the show
Kenny is an awesome guy, I had the honor of meeting him about 25 years ago at a dirt race at Tri City speedway, I had my youngest son with me and we were walking through the pits looking at race rigs and Kenny was in his hauler by himself, he called us over and invited us a sit and he talked to us like we had been friends or neighbors for years, the man knows no strangers, after about a 20 minute chat and tour of his hauler My son was like Dad who was that nice man? a memory we still share to this day.
Love the show Kenny Wallace!! I've been watching since the channel started. I'm about half way through this episode and WOW!! Loving every minute of it. Kenny Schrader is one of the best. He is very open and honest. I'd love to see Kenny Schrader race either in West Fargo, ND or Grand Forks, ND. sometime soon. Saw him a few years back in West Fargo racing. He was easy to talk to after the race.
Wow thank you for this episode Kenny two of my Favorites I love both you and Schrader
I’ve watched nascar for 30 years and I’m almost 38. Yall have always been one of my favorites! Miss the old days of racing! Awesome video brother!
This conversation was just awesome. Thankyou for what you do Kenny
