Somewhere on Earth - All episodes: • Somewhere on Earth | A...
    00:00:00 Madagascar
Located in the Indian Ocean, Madagascar is a land of stories and legends. The Red Island invites you to explore the baobab, the nomads of the sea, and the island’s most beautiful mountains.
    00:51:17 Bissagos Islands
Somewhere on Earth invites you to discover the Bijagos Islands, an isolated territory of Guinee Bissau, in West Africa. These sacred lands resemble a vast river delta.
Marcelinho is a traditional healer in Empincha, a village on the island of Carache. He learned traditional medicine from his father and began to treat people in the northern islands with him. A few years ago Marcelinho received training in the fundamentals of modern Western medicine from foreign doctors.
    01:42:31 Malawi
Somewhere on Earth is off to Malawi, in southern Africa. This little-known country, overshadowed by its larger neighbors Mozambique, Tanzania, and Zambia, is one of the poorest places on Earth. Malawi, a land of plains and highlands, is also home to an immense lake that covers 20% of its territory.
    02:33:48 Cape Verde
Somewhere on Earth is off to discover Cape Verde: an archipelago of ten or so islands situated in the Atlantic Ocean, 600 km off the coast of Senegal. Ten little worlds, whose sole natural riches are their mountains and their deserts… lands of sand and stone… tormented by the winds and currents.
    03:25:00 Tanzania
On the trails to the wildlife, our eyes discover an endless source of wonder: Zanzibar, the Tarangire National Park, and Mount Kilimanjaro.
We meet Javed, the photographer, Pascal, a retired professor of natural history, and Simon, the marathon runner.
    04:16:13 Botswana
What if the Garden of Eden really existed Somewhere on Earth? Botswana, a land of Savannah and desert in southern Africa, is heir to a wealth of wildlife. The region of the Kalahari covers almost the entire country and is a sanctuary for wild animals. From the desert sands to the oasis of a lush delta, the Okavango is the river that never reaches the ocean. It vanishes into the sands of the Kalahari. Botswana, with its 2 million inhabitants, has managed to preserve its magnificent wildlife. This is a safe haven for elephants. Someday, Botswana may be their last refuge.

Any you you wish to share about what it's like there and you'll have a happy reader. Curious about the economy, there and Madagascar. Is it mostly money based or a lot of barter?
Looked it up quick. Sounds nice. Will do a deeper dive. Love seeing, learning about places vastly different then Washington state USA East side where I'm from.

Used to be a voracious reader back when there was no internet, no cable and just 3 to 5 TV channels.
I think whoever likes this would love Michener and Faulkner. Fictional families followed for generations at different places and their experiences with the real history of those places. Sometimes imagining can be great, especially while learning the whole time.
Can probably be had cheap used. Thanks for bringing it up freedocs, could enjoy the reads again after so long.

This is a awesome documentary. Now that Africa is being presented to the world by a younger Generation we can see what God really have given to the world. The day will come when all nations will receive freedom, justice and peace and turn their weapon of warfare of death and destruction into technologies
that will turn this Plante into the utopia

Things have changed so much in 50-60 years, even 30-40. At times I think technology is like having a tiger by the tail though. Hopefully the young will be able to get a leash on it as time and experience come too their side. I gave to little credit to experience when young but see the worth only after it's there and wish Mom and Dad were still around to keep me in line.

It's so sad that the nation's of the world have historically use their's power to destory eachother than rather to help eachother. This strategy have failed historically with out any exception. This planet would be a utopia if the nation's of the world had used their's resources to help eachother instead of destroying eachother. Each time I watch a documentary like this I can see the world that we was given and then i watch documentary of our cities that
have so many homeless people and I wonder what is coming next.

But I think the second highest peak in Africa is Mt. Kenya (5,196m) and not Mt. Meru (4,562m ). Mt. Meru is in fact, 9th.

Curious when this came out, how much is barter or cash in these places. Thanks for channel. Lot of good content. Love nature shows to relax going to sleep.
