Thanks, Nick, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I was so impressed with the ferocity and the energy they put into this performance. And they were so tight! And the orchestra was just right there with them. And when you go back to listen to their old stuff you'll see their usual style is much dreamier, but this was just so propulsive. Marty Willson-Piper is a great guitarist, singer and songwriter in his own right, so it was fun to see him just rocking out on this one.
This was very cool! The Church’s first album was one of the very first cds I bought and it’s still my favorite of theirs. The band used to stay at a hotel I managed when they came through SF on tour. They were all nice, but Marty Willson-Piper was super friendly and would always give me a big hug and invite me to their shows. He left The Church in 2013 but had been with them for like 30 yrs.
Hello Nick: ne of my favorites of early Church recordings is a song called Myrrh from the album Heydey. All the Church albums are good. Worth it to see in concert now. Also listen to Johnny Marr who was the guitarist from the Smiths. Great song = New Town Velocity.

I've worked in a band with a klik in the drummer's ear, programmed tracks, what's that thing...?..MIDI tracks!! I think a lot of great symphonic/rock collabs were done without any such temporal crutch. It's innate. Nah, it's in four. I'm playing mostly sixteenths. Thirty-secondths to Mars. 🖖🏼😎🎶❤️🍁❤️✨️🕊🚀🛸🌌
