- An intensifying maritime dispute between the Philippines and China in the South China Sea has been aggravated by another confrontation. A skirmish between coastguard ships from China and the Philippines near the disputed Scarborough Shoal in the disputed waterway has added another incident to the long list of clashes around the reef.
China, get out of Phlippine water, follow the International law, and it is very clear on the map that the West Philippine Sea is in its Exclusive Economic Zone.
Send China a bill for the damage.

The fact is, according to the Treaty of Paris in 1898, the Treaty of Washington in 1900 and the Convention Between the United States and Great Britain of 1930 which defined the territory of the Philippines, the western boundary of the Philippines is delimited by 118 degrees east longitude. The Huangyan Island (Scarborough) and Nansha Islands (Spratly) are completely to the west of 118 degrees east longitude. They are not the Philippines' territory.

I really appreciated President Duterte’s standing up for the Philippines’s independence, to just bending over for the US. The current government has just given in to America, provoking China rather than cooperating, building tons of new bases.
The Philippines can never be politically independent if it is controlled by the US military (as Japan, Korea, Germany, etc are). Look at Norway and Sweden which also have given up their sovereignty by letting the US take over the military with its 10 or 20 bases. They are totally in America’s back pocket now.
Also, Mr. Duterte’s hardline approach to drugs and crime was a good approach.

well international law refutes that claim, a convention China is even a signatory. The Philippines has an exclusive economic right to fish and exploit resources on parts of those disputed waters
In 2016, the International Court of Arbitration ruled that China's historical claims has no legal basis . The accepted legal framework is UNCLOS which China and the Philippines are both signatories. The court further adjudicated that the Scarborough shoals are an underwater formation that belongs to no nation but falls within the Philippines 200 mile EEZ.

Please do not act like you are helping to champion the UNCLOS, when the US has refused to ratify and do not even recognize the UNCLOS. Asia does not need another secret war like Laos, which still holds the Guinness World record for being the most bombed country by the US on Planet Earth. Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia are still picking up your cluster bombs from 50 years ago. Nobody in Asia wants to be another colony like you did when you betrayed the Philippines, killed over 200,000 Filipinos, and implemented the benevolent assimilation policy to subtly “brainwash” Filipino identity and loyalty.
