While not the best ride by far at Cedar Point, Top Thrill Dragster is the most intense and amazing ride that you'll encounter there. The sheer height coupled with an amazing launch, makes this an absolute must ride...even if it only lasts 17 seconds!
I went to Cedar Point for the 1st time last summer. I was so darn scared to go on this ride, but I knew I had to go on it at least once before we left. In the line-up, I was shaking, but once I got in the seat - I was ready to go! The worst part of the whole thing was when it slowly pulls you back, then you sit there, then it launches you! The view from the very top is incredible!
I'm from holland. And my friend and I have been to cedar point two weeks ago. Cause I am a rollercoaster fan. It was worth the trip! What an amazing ride this is!!! One of the best rollercoasters in the world. Though it looks scarier when you look at it then when you ride it.
Every now and than I watch this video. Cause it reminds me of my holiday to America. It was such a good time. I'm from Holland. And we love rollercoasters as this one. And the song of the video is brilliant too.
Haha I will never forget how scared shitless I was to ride this when I first seen it, after I got enough courage to go on it I must say I rode it over and over again the next few days I was visiting Cedar Point! Simply amazing rush being on this ride but nothing compares to the first time being on it, it was the best :D ; Great vid!
I’ve got something in the works already 😉. I was trying to find a slightly different version of this song to use, but may have settled on something else right now. Thanks for watching!
Excellent piece of work!! Thank you very much for Sharing!!!!!
What a way of meeting people and get to see their talent. At first was reluctant being on youtube, but getting to do this has brought me into the houses of some very special people. You are one of them. Life; isn't it wonderful!!! Keep up the good work. Hope You Are Having A Splendid Day!!!!
Wow. The ending...that was difficult. I set up the shot the night before using cracks in the midway so I knew where to place my tripod the next day, used no zoom on the camera, and I had to remember the angle I was shooting (most difficult). It took about an hour to get the perfect shot the next day. All for about 3 secs of a pretty awesome fade from night to day. Thanks for your comments!
Actually, the ride has become remarkably more reliable over the past two seasons, narrowly missing 1 million riders in 2006 and finally surpassing the mark in 2007. It was only in its first season that it was nearly shut down in July. It was, though, a huge headace for the park, as well as guests, the first few seasons.
i will be in love with this ride till the day i die... just the theme.. DRAGSTER!!!!!!!!! LIGHTS YELLOW YELLOW YELLOW GREEN ! your gone..... experience ill never forget...
I came especially from Holland to go on this ride. I was scared too. But you really have to do it once in your life. Everybody comes out alive, so why don't you? Just give it a try. And you can tell everyone that you went on this ride when you show this video. I do it all the time!!!
Exceptional Video. You've captured the ride brilliantly, the shots are clear and steady, and the music fit pretty much perfectly. Would love to see you document some more of the rides at Cedar Point.
Oke, now I understand. When we were there the top thrill dragster was also not working all the time. Almost when we went on it it broke down. But after 20 minutes we could ride it. It was awesome!!! Now I think we we're very lucky. We came from Holland especially for this one!
just got done riding this yesterday and the day before. 6 times. the lines have died down since i was last there in 2006. only broke down 3 times. i guess technology there geting better.......... still the best coaster on earth its like its a fake tower just siting in the park and at night its a beautiful display . the dragster. going again next year. senior trip.
i rode it three times and got a roll back once in the morning i rode it then at night that same day and the next day i rode it front seat and got rollback lol and got fired up again that ride is so worth the wait and a once in a life time experience!!! mustn miss out and was the best vacation ever! =)
I've ridden this many times. The pull up and pull out are designed in such a way that you don't feel more than 4-5Gs. The wind, while at 120MPH, isn't really that that excessive. And while some may say its VERY similary to Stealth...TTD is over 2x as tall. There is a photo out there somewhere taken from the top of Dragster during the construction looking down on Magnum (205 ft tall) and wow, you can truly see the height difference.
Thanks for the comment. I don't understand why people are so in love with POV video...generally, the parks websites have POV video of their own for people to watch. What is the difference?
Perhaps not this ride alone, but Raptor, Magnum, Millennium Force, Maverick, Skyhawk, maXair, Power Tower, and Top Thrill Dragster make it worth the drive. Best collection of coasters in the world.
Actually, the "steam" you see is from the cables being wet. Intamin never anticipated that the cables would get as hot as they do during constant launches at 120 MPH. There isn't a sleeve or anything else inbetween the cables and the track. Towards the end of the launch Cedar Point placed "hidden" garden hoses that help keep the cables cooler. You can still see where they are located due to the fact that there is constant dripping in that area.
Quite true. They are two different designs by two different manufacturers. I think a lot of ppl who have ridden both TTD and Ka have all agreed that Ka is a bit rougher. Also, many have said that the feeling of freedom in the restraints, T-bar vs. OTSR makes TTD a much more enjoyable ride.
it's a shame I'm not a millionaire. So I would pay you. Cause you feel really proud if you have done this ride!!! Now on documanterys or in books/dvd's you see this ride. And I can say that I've been on it. That feels great. You really have to go!!!!
I go to Cedar Point yearly since i live in NE Ohio. I hate rollercoasters and somehow got on this with my brother, why you ask? well i dont know! But the line wasnt long at all since it was first thing in the morning. The ride is so short but you feel like your flying into the sky!
I got to ride this over the summer. By far my favorite coaster in the park. But if you're looking for a smoother and calmer ride, Millenium Force is almost as good. Though both have lines that seem stretch on forever.
Not sure if you are aware of this or not, but KBF is owned by Cedar Fair, the parent company to Cedar Point. Xcelerator was effectively the trial run between Intamin and CF with this technology. Dragster debuted the year after.
I did make one about three years ago. I guess I could upload it on here. It was when Magnum was my all-time favorite ride, before Maverick was unleashed. Ok, you got it! I'll upload it today!
I will say, and I'm not an engineer, but its possible that the added supports that Ka has that Dragster doesn't in the pull-out, could be what causes the rougher ride. The track sways a lot on TTD, sending any vibration down the single 'I' support into the ground, whereas the supports on Ka are in an '/\' shape thus causing minimal track swaying, but in turn that energy has to go somewhere and I think it goes into the trains.
I havn't riden this one, but I have riden stealth, which is VERY similar. Not as tall and only goes 80mph, but still its one heck of a ride! So much adrenaline! I don't think blacking out is an option for these types of rides! They are over so quickly, but they are definatly a must do!
all i gotta say is wow. I rode Top Thrill Dragster for the first time an it was an experiance for itself i still think my brain is stuck to the head rest on the train lol if youve never rode it you gotta ride it im so scared of heights an i really thing it made my fear go away!!!
You feel perfectly safe. The restraint is a T bar, and the top of the T is curved slightly so that it conforms to your legs. The hydrolic locking mechanism allows for you to pull it as tight as you want it to be. Believe me, you ain't going no where on that ride.
This coaster alienates itself to all the other smaller coasters, I bet I could stack the Mean Streak 5 times and it wouldn't be as tall as this coaster!!
i rode this 3 times in a hour. its super fast. when it takes off your vision gets blurry and the view from the top is great.... but you know sometimes it doesnt go all the way around and it comes back down backwards.
Yep, Intamin AG of Switzerland. The design isn't "copyrighted" per se, and is owned by the manufacturer, so in theory, anybody could build a "Dragster" type coaster if they had the funds to do so.
This ride is intense i rode 3 weeks ago i got to admit its a nice ride but the restraints are proper sick!! the launch isnt too bad actually its when your at the end before going straight up you think omfg this is awesum :P some rides portaventura like furious are just as fast but launch faster
What do you mean with 'wasn't reliable enough. I am from Holland. So please explain a little more. We came to cedar point last year. And loved all the rollercoasters.
Gemini & Vortex, of all the rides at CP & KI? Where are MF, Magnum, WT, Raptor, (maybe) Maverick, the Beasts, Flight of Fear? What makes Gemini & Vortex better than all of those?
Top Thrill rolls back more often than Kingda Ka does. Because Ka has brakes at the top of the apex, they're able to "over speed" the launch so that it more easily clears the top.
Because this is all video that I shot. I don't have any stock footage of the POV that I could have used. Any that is on the internet isn't in great quality. And even if there was, I wouldn't have used it because I only use my own footage.
I tend to get some motion sickness when I'm on a spinning ride, such as the Sizzler, or even a Wave Swinger. I'll still ride them, but not too excessive. Coasters on the other hand, don't pose that problem for me at all.
nice to finally see a comment complimenting kingda ka without some person talking shit about it. even though im personally a ttd fan :P never been on kk though so i really wouldnt know.
It depends on how fast you're going over the top...slower trains won't produce the air-time, while oversped trains do give you a slight as you crest back down.
hey u can do it! im 14 and i had never been on a roller coaster until my eight grade field trip to cedar point. i kept sayin that i waz gonna do this and my friends really wanted me to do it. the first ride we did was the raptor. we then went over to the dragster and waited in line for an hour. waiting in line and waitin to go in the coaster waz so scary! i didnt really like the straight away before or going up cuz it waz so fast but at the tippy top and going straight down waz just incredible!
I know on google video videos you can downlaod them and put them on your ipod.. but is there a way to put youtube videos on you ipod?? please respond....
While I haven't ridden Kingda Ka, I've read and heard many complaints about Kingda Ka. Whether its how rough it is, or complaints about the restraint system, or the lack of imagination with regards to the construction of the ride, I have not heard as much praise for the ride as I have heard for Dragster.
While not the best ride by far at Cedar Point, Top Thrill Dragster is the most intense and amazing ride that you'll encounter there. The sheer height coupled with an amazing launch, makes this an absolute must ride...even if it only lasts 17 seconds!
My favourite top thrill dragster video
does anybody else just feel like this is just the place to be.... the place to live... this ride is really that amazing..
Michael Fiedler yep
I went to Cedar Point for the 1st time last summer. I was so darn scared to go on this ride, but I knew I had to go on it at least once before we left. In the line-up, I was shaking, but once I got in the seat - I was ready to go!

This is undeniably the best rollercoaster [vid] I have ever watched here on RUclips. The best....
Can't get enough of this song and video.
This is a wonderful video. Kudos to whoever made it, beautifully made.
One of my favourites videos from youtube.
I love this song. Thanks.
The song is Here in My Heart by Silverblue. Top Thrill Dragster debuted in 2003.
The ride is truely amazing, rode it right after it opened, its awsome
This is the greatest video about a coaster I have ever seen. The music fits perfect! Thumbs up!!!!!!
Make a sequel with the same music about Top Thrill 2!
I’ve got something in the works already 😉. I was trying to find a slightly different version of this song to use, but may have settled on something else right now. Thanks for watching!
The best Top thrill dragster video!! amazing shots!!! great 5 stars!!!

Awesome video man. Nice music. Just got back from cedar point for hollow weekends 2006!!
This ride is amazing. I sat front row (an extra 15 min of waiting) but it was totally woth it. A must ride for any thrill junkie.
Exceptional Video. You've captured the ride brilliantly, the shots are clear and steady, and the music fit pretty much perfectly. Would love to see you document some more of the rides at Cedar Point.
An awesome amusement park with historic coasters (especially this one :) that make me all the more proud to be an Ohioan. Excellent video!
Oke, now I understand. When we were there the top thrill dragster was also not working all the time. Almost when we went on it it broke down. But after 20 minutes we could ride it. It was awesome!!! Now I think we we're very lucky. We came from Holland especially for this one!
ive never commented on any videos but i just had to on this one!, coz this is the best video ive ever seen on youtube. i love the music as well !!!

and the next day i rode it front seat and got rollback lol

Best Top Thrill vid on the web :D great camera shots and nice music choice :)
5 stars ;)
its nice to watch a Top Thrill Dragster video without the song "Ready To Go" being played. great video, one of the best TTD vids i've seen.
Damn this video and comments are ancient it's weird, gues I'm the first recent comment, hello from 2020
Best video i saw ever on youtube.
may 10th cedar point opens!!!! Im going the first day to ride the dragster!!!! im excited.

Really nice editing. Excellent video. Good job.
Best TTD video EVAR!!! :) My favorite ride on earth...

Filmed and edited by me. Thanks.
2:33 is the best part. amazing quality, and good footage. nice job. :)
I love this SONG!!
POV video is not only dangerous, but it is against park policy, and against the law. But thank you for comments.
Great video, fitting song. Excellent ride, and it has a theme that fits unlike the copy cat, king da copy.
This is really good footage rode this ride like 10 times in a row
all i gotta say is wow. I rode Top Thrill Dragster for the first time an it was an experiance for itself i still think my brain is stuck to the head rest on the train lol
if youve never rode it you gotta ride it im so scared of heights an i really thing it made my fear go away!!!
This wasn’t filmed in 2005. The red banners along the track were from 2003
has anyone noticed how the ride shakes at the top!!!!!!!!!!looks so awesomeeeeeee!@
You feel perfectly safe. The restraint is a T bar, and the top of the T is curved slightly so that it conforms to your legs. The hydrolic locking mechanism allows for you to pull it as tight as you want it to be. Believe me, you ain't going no where on that ride.
by far one of the best coasters ever. although i would probably never ride it.
aka the ride thats shut down whenever there's a tiny bit of rain or 5mph winds.
ive never seen this thing open for more than 15 mins.
Thanks for the comment!
It's been open since May 2005. Dragster opened May 2003.
The music suits the video... The ride looks like a kick in the pants... Cool!
i love the music and the ride =)

@oldnaziwino Intamin track is manufactured in Switzerland.
expert editing, thanks!
can you do more cedar point roller coaster videos?
This ride is intense i rode 3 weeks ago i got to admit its a nice ride but the restraints are proper sick!! the launch isnt too bad actually its when your at the end before going straight up you think omfg this is awesum :P some rides portaventura like furious are just as fast but launch faster

This ride is so tall, they literally had to put lights on it to warn air traffic.
Any structure over 200 ft tall must have a light, which is why the tower of terror is 199 ft tall, so it wouldn't disrupt the theming
that thing is badass!i loved it!
@SuperGladiator15 Are you asking 'Where is Cedar Point?' Sandusky, Ohio, USA
Top Thrill rolls back more often than Kingda Ka does. Because Ka has brakes at the top of the apex, they're able to "over speed" the launch so that it more easily clears the top.
@doomslayer133 dragster has only a lap bar with lock in cylinders. and the theme goes with the ride... when you hear dragster.. you think fast..
What is POV
Because this is all video that I shot. I don't have any stock footage of the POV that I could have used. Any that is on the internet isn't in great quality. And even if there was, I wouldn't have used it because I only use my own footage.

i had an eight grade field trip to cedar point. do u go to jackson
It depends on how fast you're going over the top...slower trains won't produce the air-time, while oversped trains do give you a slight as you crest back down.
Of course they're scary! But it is so much fun! You just got to get the courage to get on one...as scary as they can be, you won't regret it!
