I don't think I've seen a nicer 430 build. It will be excellent in that convertible. I like the cam you selected for it. I think the 212 is the best balanced cam for a street car- good wide powerband and a decent amount of horsepower.
Interesting engine choice. The 430 has a better bore x stroke than the 455 does. And the engine master competitions has engine builders using these instead of the 455. I want to do one of these with stage 2 heads and a 230 @ 050s comp extreme cam for a 69 Skylark.
What Cam did you put in this engine? I have a 430 I’m about to get rebuilt but I want it a little less choppy. I do love how it sounded when you reved it up though.
@user-ef3hf1et3t It's not, at all. Actually, it's very easy. 500+ is not hard, either. That said, Big Block Buicks make a HUGE amount of torque at fairly low RPM. Horsepower is good to have, but I'll take torque on street engines all day long.
BUICK 430s were rated at 360HP at 5k RPM and 475lb ft torque at 3200 RPM. I'm betting both were on the conservative side. With the cam this has, Edelbrock intake and headers this should be north of 400HP and 490lb ft torque. That's my guess.
That is one beautiful GS. That blue is amazing. A 430 in that car is just perfect...no harm no foul. I hope it gets driven !
Excellent....cant wait for follow up video-good job guys.

Thanks for the comments! I agree the 212 is an excellent street cam. Makes a lot of torque!
Best big block gm ever made, torque monster,I owned two Buick Electra 225 cars.1968 year sign Canada.
Couldn't agree more!
Nice build Runs very well
Thanks! Appreciate it!
Awesome.
Thanks!
I'm working on my 455 right now. Lol. Took a break and saw your 430 video.
Right on! I have a couple of other videos working on 455's too.
Nice. I love em. I have a gs 400 that needs to get done. Just not enough money right now

That is a TA Performance TA212 grind. It's actually a very mild cam.
Did you upgrade the pushrods to the hollow ones?
@@michaelwoods3850
Yes, the oil passages in the block were tapped and plugged. New pushrods and rockers were installed.
Why is it impossible to get 400 HP out of a Buick engine

What's he running for rear end gears 3.42?
@@rogerdavis2056 Not sure. 3:42 is what I would run.
