In this video we pick up a sofa for the workshop, do our second tool restoration in the new place and rebuild some of the dry stone wall by the entrance. Enjoy.
I love everything in this video and especially the stone wall. I had no idea that earth was used behind the wall (pushed in as you go). Makes perfect sense. What a lot of progress that has been made.
I love his reaction to the glue up falling out of the vices really shows how positive his attitude is something that catastrophic could tick off anyone pretty well
I was taught to use a paraffin wax candle at school which I did unquestioningly for decades until I started doubt the wisdom of it because it gunked up everything up and my planes had wax and sawdust making a tar in the corners.
That's why I use the spray wax. It's a liquid carnauba wax. Spray it on wait 5 mins wipe it off let it dry and use. Puts a film like oil but is significantly thinner then paraffin wax.@@TiberiusWallace
Howdy from Texas! love your channel and especially the new shop space. I think your door needs its hinges reversed so it opens with the flow of your stairs and not against it. Oh and I like your canon lens case.
"Man...that's unfortunate." What a legend. I would have been irretrievably furious. I learned a valuable lesson there. This hasn't fixed me, mind you - I'll just be more ashamed next time I lose my absolute shit when something exactly like this inevitably happens to me. :D Thank you in advance for the guilt.
New workshop looks great. My sister lives in Ireland and it is such a magnificent place. I wonder if hanging your door so that it opens toward the stairs would make it easier to get in and out, especially with lumber? Please keep making awesome videos!!
You're a lot of fun to watch, it's your enthusiastic energy about your work is captivating and I believe it will make your posts more and more popular, wish you all the success. If you do any restoration of older furniture you may consider using Hide glue instead of synthetic glue. It seems like more work to start with but less in the long run. You don't have totally clean the joint because Hide glue bounds to itself so you can inject it right into the joint with out taking it apart and clamp it, you never can do that with polymers. And the clean up is much easier. And is't a great bond.
"Man, that's unfortunate" -- I think every craftperson has had a few of those moments. As a seamstress, I've always thought there's a lot of overlap, and I had a few moments like that in the run-up to Halloween this yeah. xD
Can you do me a favor and build a sauna for when you do an ice bath challenge since you’re a real influencer now 😊…. I really wanna learn how to build a sauna from a tree, or just lumber at the very least. Love your stuff, keep it up
Awesome job there Eoin … just a thought , wouldn’t it be a benefit hinging the door off the other side ? get in and out the workshop a bit easier , awesome job though there fella !
Usually you use a planer to make a perfectly flat side (which you'd then run against the fence of a table saw to cut the the opposing side). So yes, you'd always run the entire length of the work piece along the planer. There's an art to doing it, to make sure the piece is well supported. Smaller sweeps would be tricky to do precisely. I'd stick to hand planes and draw knives if you need to make variations along the piece.
saw border I thought book shelf. on u tub land saw hand cut dove slide dove tale thought fantasic best ever happened wood working. to make understand why great I friend make book case had hard time cut squre grove put bord in and glue lot hands and clamps get just right. think called rabbit or dato something like that. with slide dove tale. dont need glue holds self together. if need move book case slide boards out move one bord time to were want. so book side slide boards in. draw two lines bottom dove tale would be. on end bord make wide want top with angle tool line up bottom with top draw / line so see dove tale end. block has same angle line japinesses pull saw on start saw till line. do both angle sides. then chisel with bottom dove tall tap wood hammer tap wood out there. weird cut angle side all tares out let dove tale grove. that part 1. part 2. shelf. use squre draw line thickness dove tale. both sides shelf. put tape jappneses pull saw careful cut down short part dove tale. carful chisel and wood hammer tap corner down to cut line. when down angle look / . carful put up grove. careful dry fite over and over till get born slide through entire book shelf. take while but worth it. do one shelf. later on when bord work other shelf of book case.
Your restraint when the glue project decided not to cooperate is admirable. It’s good that others see not everything works perfectly. The wall work is awesome. Love the vlogs! Cheers
I spent about 6 weeks in Ireland back in 1978 working on my cousin's farm. This brings back the memories of "the good work"! Love the channel. Keep it going Boy'o!
I hope your channel continues to grow. As a carpenter of 50 years, now retired but never finished, I love watching this. Good luck and wishing you well Bryan
@@nervesinapattern7261 @nervesinapattern7261 I've always felt that a carpenter is a very honorable profession. I am basically a contractor but I always was the carpenter on the job. Hi Eoin I found your vids a few months ago and I love all you do, great to see a lad showing natural talent with a passion for woodworking and learning different trades and skills. I also love how you show the mistakes and when things go with great way of teaching as we all learn from mistakes. One thing from my 30 + years I've learnt is PLEASE USE GUARDS ON THE MACHINES especially the planner. 3/ 8" gap between the guard and workpiece will keep your pinkies safe. Would love to meet up one day and a hand shake with stubby fingers can be awkward.
very interesting the vertical stacking of the stones in the wall as opposed to horizontal . i have a wall to rebuild at my house and I might try the vertical
I have a hundred year old draw knife that I cleaned up, honed, and sharpened. It will definitely shave hair. The only problem is that it’s so sharp l’m afraid to use it! 😮
Idk if I could be digging in Ireland like that... accidentally disturbed Brian Boros Ghost... or his wife!... nah... that stone is too old for me to be toying with... he already sounds like he's telling a story ittle be the Tuath D' Denann sneakin into the shop he ain't careful. Lol
Dearest eion, my girlfriend and i would like to know what kind of car/cars you have out of sheer curiosity because we are both car fans, and of course eoin fans to the extent of saying "what would eoin do?" And "eoin is the next john wick." Because seeing you plunge an axe thru the silver screen id give anything for. We love you, eoin!❤
Being American, I'm very poorly versed in ways to enjoy tea. I've noticed in these vlogs that you add milk to your tea. Is this your favorite way to enjoy a warm brew or just an easy one?
Oh no! Now I have to go to TikTok to find out how you attached the handles to the draw knife! I thought the last ones were locked on it for a reason; when you're pulling at it and one handle comes flying off, could be dangerous!
Have you created a Discord yet? I would love to join a discord where I can communicate with people of similar interests that also do this type of thing

YES NEW VIDEO LOVE THIS GUY
Greeting from New York, lots of good work 👍. Maybe you can hinge the door the other way, so you can get in easier when carrying stuff.
I was thinking the same thing.
That's been driving me crazy too.
I love his reaction to the glue up falling out of the vices really shows how positive his attitude is something that catastrophic could tick off anyone pretty well
I was thinking that. I would have lost my mind
my new favorite woodworking channel, watch those subs increase with videos like that!
You totally need to make an awesome new workshop door. :)
New favorite series to follow!
To lubricate planes and saw blades I've found spray car wax works great. Good video Eoin!
Yeah carnuba wax is great, also good for cleaning out sanding belts etc.

Loving the stone work.
For the love of God......change the way the door opens....you’ll have more room to go inside with a load of wood !
Love your channel young lad !

He also looks like he might fall off the steps with that load of long boards he brought in .
I unironically have a mug just like that with a Carabiner for a handle, and I kinda love it now
Liking the vlogs, thanks for sharing.

One word to describe everything in Eoin’s videos……..Mesmerising

I think you need to change your door to open from the other side of the frame for better access
I just love your old tools i remember my dad had a big box full og tools he used in hes work making windows and kitchen 40 years ago
Love the new place… BUT… I’d have to change the front door hinges to the other side so it opened towards the steps… that would drive me nuts
In this episode Eoin takes care of his crow problem. Let the man speak birds!!!
5:10 - "Bother! Said Pooh" 😂😂
great stone work
I love these vlogs
Great job on the wall Eoin 🧱 👏
Great video ❤
No way you record like this its amazing
I like your vlogs. May not need to do one everyday. But they are quite enjoyable
Was going to say, usually you have a clamp on the other side to help hold in place and flat. Wax paper helps too.
"Man, that's unfortunate" -- I think every craftperson has had a few of those moments. As a seamstress, I've always thought there's a lot of overlap, and I had a few moments like that in the run-up to Halloween this yeah. xD
Yes, that it the proper way to test the quality of milk.
FN awesome man
fun videos in general
you must not get frost like us in Canada. Don't think we could build like that here. Looks fantastic.
Agreed from another Canadian.
He's in Ireland, the ocean tempers out the climate all year, the most they'll get is frost
ya good stuff mate
Some man 4 1 man💪🏻
Still enjoying these daily vlogs

Done is better than perfect
Swap the hinge to the other side of the door when you replace it
It'll make entry and exit much easier
OMG yes, please!
Interesting I’ve never seen a stone wall made with the edges up before.
>drive offscreen with a friend sitting on the couch
>loud sheet metal crunching

keep going
Hey buddy have a look at a glue-bot for your glue ups you won’t regret it 👍
If this Irishman can do it... So can the US!
I think it would be better if you had the door of shed opening the other side
I am curious about the planer; is the proper use to start at the far end and go all the way to the other end in one go? Or are smaller swipes ok too?

thank you so much@@Nono-hk3is
How are you heating the workshop?
2:51 What is the flooring of the shop? You have to go up steps the enter, but the floor looks like tamped earth. Is it brown carpet?
I see now. I should have waited.
Hinge the entry door to your shop on the other side of the jamb. You can thank me later!
love you but blue milk... yeah not okay
I Love your Nikes
Please hinge that door on the other wall, its bugging my brain
Last vlog episode sad 😢
it's not the last I hope! he said this vlog isn't going anywhere, going to end it here, I think he meant this particular episode!
Wat

I love you Eoin!

VLOGs take a long time to catch on and get viewers, please consider continuing them! You haven't given it a proper shake until at least ep. 30!
The disappointment in the air when the boards fell apart was palpable 😂❤ but our boy went right back to it well done
I really look forward to these vlogs! Love your videos

nice to see you trying new things and keeping up with tradition
Thanks for sharing! You videos always brighten my day.
5:02 - 5:10 Ah, classic, been there.
When you are sweeping that dirt floor, how do you know when to stop?
When it's flat again
5:17 was not expecting that! 😅
Can't wait to see you get your own place and see what you do with it. ❤
Cheers glen

Top class work on the wall, have something similar outside my own house and they are a thing of beauty
very interesting the vertical stacking of the stones in the wall as opposed to horizontal . i have a wall to rebuild at my house and I might try the vertical
Bang up job on the wall lads
Really love the long form videos. Great new shop.
The new workshops class. Be only a dream to have something like that.
I enjoy your videos after a hard days work, it's my way of winding down
Great content as always
using dowels to help keep your table tops more true could save you a lot of planing
Eoin…you’re a patient man….all this unasked for advice being given to you from afar….maith an fear 👏🏻
I have a hundred year old draw knife that I cleaned up, honed, and sharpened. It will definitely shave hair. The only problem is that it’s so sharp l’m afraid to use it! 😮
Haha always secure your boards boy. I'm making it flat before picking or tightening the vice. Good job though nonetheless 👍
That door hinges from the wrong side.
Unless you are building the place to be difficult to invade.
I love those England vibes! I'm sorry if I said it wrong, and it's Scotland or Ireland, I can't tell. Love it anyway
my 42yo back was screaming at me just watching this
