It’s amazing what could be done 100s of years ago with simple stones. Beautiful pictures and very educational video - Keith
This is a great and inspiring story. Stone walls are such a simple, yet pleasant thing. Of course the craft itself isn't simple as in "easy", but simple as in "doesn't require much prior knowledge and not many materials to get started and it easily enhances every structure stone walls are applied to"
This book is an amazing piece of literature. An amazing story that is filled w so much priceless knowledge. I've read this book many times and have enjoyed it again from your perspective. Thank you.
Amazing! Thank you
What a treat!
Really enjoyable video.
Спасибо.
Do you need to be in a biome with plentiful bare rock and active quarys to make this make sense? I feel like hauling in even rough stone of various sizes could still get expensive. Please let me know if there is another trixk to this, like calling mining companies to use their debris or something to that extent.

I enjoyed watching this. Nobody mentions you need a back that will last over 30 years!
I've built many stonewalls and you're right. I learned the basics of lifting like lifting with your legs and not your back, never twisting your body while handling a stone, and use a lever whenever possible.
Only 9 years left for me then
I have been building dry stone walls for 42 years so far and at age 67 have plenty more years in my back left to go.

Sorry I went to the web site at it seems like many different books are offered. Which one are you referencing and which but talks about the tools needed?
Thanks
This is what I found to match the red cover shown at the end:

So there is no mortar used at all? How do the walls stay together? Just weight? I want to learn this so badly! My daughter and I want to use the stones on our property to build a barn and house.
No mortar, just weight ;-)
Good.
