Teflon gaskets or seals always deform when they are installed and should always be replaced when a joint in unscrewed. Good video

I’m preparing to rebuild the E61 on my Rocket R58. I found the first part very instructive. Two remarks: The re-assembly steps could really use step-by-step video rather than the vague lumping the items together on the counter. A detailed list in the comments of all the items that need to be purchased would be very helpful.

Hmm, first step: Pull out the adjustable nut f***ers...
Listen. In the short time I've been on this earth I've learned you should always start with proper fixed box end wrenches and if a size just isn't available (Spoiler alert: Between a complete 1 unit graduated set of Metric and all common sizes of Imperial all sizes are available...) then you go to the adjustable. No compromise.
Otherwise, great video to learn more about the innards of the e61.

Using an adjustable wrench gives you the ability to loosen the mushroom without accidentally scratching the soft chrome material.
I always use a cloth in combination with an adjustable nut f****er when working on soft material.

Can someone tell me id the mushroom thingy on the E61 grouphead is the same for all E61 grouphead machines. I have an Expobar Brewtus 3, would the mushroom value for E61's fit any machine or do I need to find one specific to the expobar.

@6:27 how do you know if you need one or two? I took one apart seeing only one inside, but it looks like it could fit two. I'm not sure if it was improperly maintained and someone lost a gasket or if it's just fitting for one. There is no leaking. So, i'm guessing this is a dumb question that it only fits one, and i guess stuffing two inside would make the spring tension really tight to push back and possibly wobble for the metal that touches the gaskets first before the spring.

When you take it apart, there should be one or two. If you're unsure, feel free to email our techs for guidance at support@clivecoffee.com

This is one of the better E61 videos. Thank you! My Quickmill Vetrano was leaking badly out of the exhaust while pulling a shot for a while. Shots got progressively weaker and took longer. I completely replaced all the "pins" and teflon gaskets. Kept the same springs. Set me back about $75 and an hour of my time. I think I could do it in 15 minutes next time (exclusive of the lever). My 10 year old machine is pulling shots like a new machine.

Nice video for the disassembly but as others mention, a reassembly video would be helpful, especially with closeup views of the orientation of the cam and a sequence of reassembly - does it matter the order of the sub assemblies (lower section, lever section, mushroom section). Also, maybe a problem solving tip or two - what did I do wrong if I have no discharge purge at the end of the pull.

nice video - how often does it need a rebuilt - give or take if the machine is used for 3 shots a day ? yearly rebuilt ?

If you're using filtered and soft water, typcally every 3-5 years. Could be sooner, could be later.

At 6:10 your cam was very easily removed from its housing. On mine it doesn’t come out at all? Any tips on this please?

It's easy to remove. Hold it so the shaft is pointing down, put the end of shaft on a piece of wood and push down.

Just used your video to rebuild my Expobar Office Lever group head. Just a couple slight differences between my machine and your demo unit. I should have followed your advice on replacing the valve stems. I spent about 30 minutes each digging out the old gasket seals in each of the three valves so I could just replace the gasket. After 12 years of use they were really cooked in and they were brittle. If I ever have to do this again, I will definitely replace each of the valve/gasket assemblies. My machine was still making great espresso, but when I shut off the lever the 3 way valve wasn't releasing all the pressure from the portafilter. Every time a released the portafilter, coffee grounds would spray out. It's all good now and working like new. Thanks for very good instructions.

What happens when. You replace the .08mm flow restrictor with one that is .06mm on a synchronika?
