    As someone who started with Creo (no WF experience), the symbol sketching environment is extremely obnoxious. Seems like it’d be easy and obvious to just use the Creo sketcher for symbols, but there must be a reason why PTC hasn’t. Beats me though.

      Simply no investment. It’s come up in Technical Committee meetings numerous times over the years, but PTC just invested their time and effort elsewhere.

    Hi Dave, Is there a way to change symbols for specific line items in the repeat region? In this video, you have the qty on the right hand side - if I create two symbols, one RH, and one LH, is there an easy way to switch this depending on the line item? Some times the drawing gets cluttered having all balloons on one side of the view. I tried selecting the symbol once the balloons were created, but the Symbol Name under Definition is greyed out..

    My school copy of Creo Parametric doesn't let me open "non-student" versions of files. How frustrating! The whole point of a student copy is to learn, and its getting in the way of learning...

      Too many companies attempt to run on free student versions instead of purchasing a commercial license - I saw that happen in the 2000s when every Intro to Pro student received a disk of the student version. You should have access to student versions of lab files if you are taking a class.
      But I have nothing to do with the student version. I suggest you take that up with whatever company manages the student version today. Back in the day it was Liberty Education Systems.

    When attempting to save the symbol I get " [filepath] can not open for writing"

    • @CADPLMGuy
      @CADPLMGuy  4 года назад

      That's something particular to your own computer. Perhaps you're trying to save somewhere you're not allowed to.

      @@CADPLMGuy Yes. I did not have Admin privileges when attempting to write the file. As a workaround I wrote the symbol to a folder on my desktop and then moved the symbol file to the C drive directory.

    Hi Dave is there a way to be able to filter out any QTY 1 items, so it will just be a balloon with no \qty\ out to the side? THANKS!

      Not that I’m aware of.

      I was able to accomplish this using the repeat region relations. I created a custom parameter "QTY" and did a simple IF statement to check if rpt.qty == 1, then QTY = "", else QTY = itos(rpt.qty) + "X" endif. Then I had the qty note call "
      pt.rel.QTY\"
