I just want to say that I love you so much for your open mindedness with your parents. I have seen so many trans activists that just bash parents that struggle with this and I love you so much for presenting a real perspective of this. I also watched your talk with your sister and I loved how honest and real it was. Honestly you are just great. This is a hard thing for the entire family to go through, not just the individual. Props to you again for presenting this in a real way that doesn't make your family out to be villains even when they are struggling. I freakin love you.
I have watched Alex for a very long time and I remember in the early days Alex would say that his mum wasn't happy with it and she wasn't very supportive. I am so glad they have both come through this and she seems genuinely quite clued up and involved in his transition which is fantastic! You go Michelle. Sends a really hopeful message to anyone who is still at odds with their parents - perseverance can pay off. Doesn't matter if you can't agree 100% on everything, whats important they come to respect you and your decisions and never stop trying to understand and 'get it right'. It's so messed up. Hell, when she found out I was trans, she read the bible to me for an hour. Yes, an hour. She set a timer and everything. It was an awful day. I left the house and when I came back all the doors were locked and such and eventually I got inside and she said "who are you?" Pretty much broke my heart. Hopefully my mom will be like this one day, but most likely not..

I'm forced to wear makeup and wear girly clothes and it kills me so much to not be able to just talk to them and be who I am around them. I've been told that 'acting' the way I am is disrespectful and cruel to my family. I swear I'd give anything to have a family who would at least be willing to talk to me and acknowledge what's going on. Not only that but my parents make fun of me for having counselling because I really struggle being happy. You should feel so happy and proud and privileged to have parents like that.
