    Mako sharks, also known as sharp-nosed mackerel sharks and (in Australia) blue pointers, range throughout tropical and temperate seas. They are streamlined and relatively slender and have pointed snouts, crescent-shaped tails, and long slender teeth. Body coloration ranges from blue gray to deep blue dorsally and is white ventrally. The largest adults may approach 4.5 metres (14.8 feet) in length and exceed 500 kg (about 1,100 pounds) in weight. Mako sharks prey on fishes such as herring, mackerel, and swordfish and on small cetaceans. They are outstanding food and game fish, prized for their fighting qualities and repeated leaps out of the water.

      Marmaris Mako (1950) was estimated at 5.85 m (19.2 foot; dead) and a recent Mako (2020), near Ibiza, was estimated at 5 m (16.5 foot; alive).

    Better to let the big adult sharks go actually. It takes a long time for them to get that big, and the bigger sharks produce more young.

    That yellowtail was depressed. It didn't bother swimming away at the sight of the mako. It just lay as the mako teared through it.

    Why call it a yellow tail if its tail is gone.

  • @stephencook7337

    Looks like the yellow tail was somehow incapacitated before the Mako got to it.

      @@loqutisborg5416 It wasn't dead, but Makos commonly attack the tails of its prey to immobilize them first, so they cant run anymore.

    Also, how focused the Shark is just attacking the dead tuna instead of attacking the cameraman who is still alive. Unless the camera is remote controlled.

      Because sharks don’t hunt people 🐳🐳

    • @JennSkullz
      @JennSkullz 9 месяцев назад

      Because that fish wasnt dead, this started halfway into the hunt, makes like to immobilize their prey by taking its tail off, you cant fight back or run once your legs have been torn off, same idea, its a good stratagy for fast moving prey and the Mako hunts stuff like tuna.
