They aren’t the only shark that can adapt to brackish or fresh water. Scallop head and bonnet heads can adapt as well, and I’m sure there are probably more.
Nearly 50 years ago when I was in college I spent a summer doing an internship at a facility along the Mississippi coast and my then wife and I stayed in the Hercules employee fish camp located on the Pascagoula (Singing) River. The camp was inland a short distance from the location that the river dumped into the Gulf and at the camp's boat docks shrimpers and fisherman would clean their catch and throw the guts and shells, etc into the water. I would get out nearly every afternoon and swim across that river and I never had any idea that a shark would be or could be found in that water. Had I known I wouldn't have dipped my toe in the thing. During our stay Pascagoula sponsored a fishing rodeo so we drove over one afternoon to see what had been hauled out of the depths. There were plenty of sharks to be seen, including a Tiger that was probably 12-14' long.
I’ve always been fascinated with these sharks. It’s amazing just How adaptable they are, as they can swim thousands of miles upriver in the Mississippi River. True, they are smaller than a great white, but I would consider them much more dangerous.
Bull sharks ARE considered the most dangerous of all the sharks, bc they are less fearful, and amazingly have the most testosterone of ANY animal in the world.
Smaller…….they are shorter in length but as their name suggests…….BULL Shark. They are more bulked up & they certainly are inquisitive. The muscleman of sharks.
It's because they have the highest amount of testosterone in any shark they've discovered. That's why they're so aggressive, the ass hole of sharks lol
I very vaguely recall watching this as a child in the mid 2000s, shark week was the shit growing up, eventually it got to a point where it started doing the thing it originally fought against: fear mongering.
Sometimes stupidity gets punished. Find it difficult to feel sorry for that 'EXPERT'. Couldn't watch anymore of that 'expertise' after that 'expert' accident.
These sharks are vicious. A 14 year old girl was half eaten in Florida by a bull. You dips talking about how harmless they are. Bull,Great White and Tiger are the killers.
These Bull Sharks for me seem to have come out of no where. I grew up as a child fishing with Dad & Uncles & brothers & felt I heard all there was about sharks, grey nurse, bronze whaler, hammerhead. I think I was in my teens when I heard of the Great White Shark and only in the past 15 years or so the Bull Shark suddenly becomes a very prevalent shark. I’m 69 now. Watching this towards the end I recall some 25 approx years ago being on the end of bait nets (60 ft long) after dark!!!!! And further back almost 40yr ago dragging the bait nets in the Burnett River again after dark. At these times I had not heard of the Bull Shark, maybe I’m lucky to still have my arms n legs (or life)!!!! 🦈🦈🦈

I will never understand when they always say “attacked by accident” or “eaten by accident”. No, no it wasn’t an accident. It is an apex predator. It may want something with more fat like a seal, but we humans will be just fine to eat if the shark is hungry enough. People think sharks are just misunderstood little puppies that really want hugs and kisses. Stop applying human thoughts and emotions onto animals! People will watch this and think it safe to go near these dangerous animals. Yes they are beautiful and majestic. But they are an apex predator. Admire their beauty from a safe distance. You will not be attacked “by accident”. If you are attacked, good chances are, it knew and saw you as an easy meal
The juvenile hammerhead looked dead - although freshly - when it was onboard being handled and for certain when it was dropped back into the water by the show host. Watch again. If I am mistaken I invite the researchers to explain what I saw and interpret.
We often catch Scalloped Hammerheads here on the east coast of South Africa and they are incredibly delicate, especially the juveniles. To ensure that they don't die we have to get them back in the water as soon as possible. The other species like Blackspots, Milkys, Smoothounds, Spinners etc are fairly robust but Hammerheads are definitely not. I agree that the Hammerhead in this video was probably killed by the trauma of being netted and being unable to swim. On a side note, it is crazy irresponsible for a "shark science" documentary to encourage people to touch or tickle or try and flip a shark over.....
Bulls are notoriously unpredictable and aggressive. As a Floridian, they are part of the ecosystem that must be respected. Much like the American alligator. We know they can live in fresh water. We take precautions. If you come to this subtropical environment, then you'd be best off having a healthy respect for it.
I reported the first crocodile spotted in the keys. Many years ago. At a swimming hole in Ramrod. Definitely wasn't an alligator. The snout was long and thin with a bump at the end. Later, my sighting was confirmed.
I live on the Atlantic coast of Florida. I’ve come to learn that with most sharks, when they bite a human it’s usually a single exploratory strike to see if your edible. I’ve been bumped countless times by blacktips and a few lemon sharks while fishing waist deep in the surf and at least so far they’ve never attempted a bite. Bull sharks are a completely different story. Once a Bull attacks, it’s going to press the attack, and once they find a consistent food source, including humans, they will claim that territory and actively hunt them. Living where I do, it is uncommon to go to the beach and NOT see tourists blissfully ignoring their kids while they play in the surf. While I normally take great care in releasing other sharks when I catch them, I kill every Bull I catch. I’ve hooked a dozen or so over the past 4-5 years, most of them in less than four feet of water, and the thought of releasing one to have it maul or kill someone’s kid is more than I can bear. Can I say I’ve prevented an attack? Nope, but I can say that these sharks that were feeding in an area overwhelmingly used by swimmers and surfers both young and old, definitely won’t be attacking anyone.
Don’t kill animals! You do know they are important for the eco system, right? They improve the health of the fish population, they dispose of dead animals and they simply have a right to live. People choose to go into the water, the sharks have no choice. It is THEIR world.
I thought Bull sharks were known to be aggressive? Feeding a wild animal is of no benefit to the animal. I cannot believe the stupidity of standing in water like that. Speechless .
This guy lost his right to the title of “shark expert”. And to make matters worse, he continues to make excuses for how dangerous sharks are. I’m tired of these do-gooders making sharks out to be lap dogs. Reality is reality, no matter what YOU may want it to be.
Why haven't I seen this before - its hilarious. Standing in a shallow lagoon surrounded by bull sharks with the 'expert' Eric, who says "As long as we don't move they will realize we are not a threat to them" who is then immediately attacked and a chunk of flesh bitten out his calf. This man is an idiot who has started to believe his own lies. This a a wild, dangerous and unpredictable animal, not a pet Eric.
Ever since I seen the video of that poor Russian guy getting attacked and eaten in the Red Sea I’ve been binge watching shark attack videos. I have a phobia of sharks. It’s unnerving to even see them on screen. It’s also my biggest fear in the world and the main reason I stick to clear water and the shallows. If I see any big movement I’m out.
You hear over and over again of people who are experts with a particular predator, knowing their behavioral patterns and handling such creatures, yet how often do we here of an expert being attacked, even eaten. True fact there is no such thing as an expert, you can convince yourself of knowing better than anyone else, everyone but the predator that sees you as a source of food period.
Don't forget about the infamous 1916 New Jersey shark attacks that inspired Jaws, the shark(s) swam through a culvet or something crazy miles way upstream to a dock where kids were swimming.
I love when people claim to be experts on sharks. I love how they tell you that sharks have amazing senses, and then in the next sentence say that most attacks are mistaken identity. Just like this guy there are a lot of people who think they have apex predators figured out. How many of these self proclaimed experts have been severely disabled, or killed by all types of predators? Let’s just use common sense. Shark are carnivores. We are made out of meat. There are too many cases of sharks completely consuming a person, or returning again and again to eat off of a victim. This guy just literally said that tiger sharks accidentally eat people. That is one of the dumbest remarks I have ever heard. Tiger sharks do not mind eating people at all. I promise that. There is a woman who takes videos of herself, swimming with huge sharks. She is going to end up like the Bear man, and countless others who thought they had a bond with predators. These so-called experts are getting people killed. Shark attacks happen more often than we realize. When I was 18, I saw an old man get attacked by a 10 foot bull shark. It returned over and over taking large bites. It literally ate him in half. These guys standing in the water with all of these bull sharks are not intelligent. Play stupid games…win stupid prizes.
Shark take your lunch money? Look up statistics on Shark attacks and fatalities. Ya. Sooooo dangerous. Feeding or spearfishing dramatically increase the odds of something going wrong, but that doesn't change the fact that you are far FAR more likely to be in a dangerous car accident while buying some groceries than you are to be bitten by a Shark you encounter.
Bulls are relentless, most sharks stalk and go through a process before biting, bull sharks go in with an attitude right off the bat, they're super aggressive and if their hit or poked it just makes them more angry, bull are the #1 nightmare.
The testosterone levels of a bull shark put the great white to shame. That and the fact that Bulls can swim in brackish waters make them a fierce force and killer.

My wife and I like shore diving, whether snorkeling or scuba. A couple of years ago we hugely enjoyed a week of scouring the coastline of St. Croix, one of the U.S. Virgin Islands. One day after a rainy, surfy spell we went into the Salt River Bay, or Arawak Bay, not one of the prime destinations, but handy and as yet unexplored by us. Near zero visability, we got out after a few minutes. The Salt River flows down through a developed area of the island, and effluent around river mouths attracts bull sharks, as it does around the world. Nothing bad happened, but something told me nothing good could come of staying in. Anyone seen bull sharks around St. Croix?

I would get out nearly every afternoon and swim across that river and I never had any idea that a shark would be or could be found in that water. Had I known I wouldn't have dipped my toe in the thing.
During our stay Pascagoula sponsored a fishing rodeo so we drove over one afternoon to see what had been hauled out of the depths. There were plenty of sharks to be seen, including a Tiger that was probably 12-14' long.
Shark is in the water, you’re in the water…
"Farewell and adieu to you fair Spanish ladies..."
2 all time classic lines, well said to you both 👏
In the beginning the expert said"If you stand still they won't bite." At the end he said what went wrong,"Was because he was standing still."hmm Idk
Exactly....its called 'talking bollox' 👍🏻😂
“Oh no mr shark you don’t understand, this guy with me studies you guys so therefore we can’t be eaten”
I’ve always been fascinated with these sharks. It’s amazing just
How adaptable they are, as they can swim thousands of miles upriver in the Mississippi River. True, they are smaller than a great white, but I would consider them much more dangerous.
They need to be bonked in the heads, douchebags
Bull sharks ARE considered the most dangerous of all the sharks, bc they are less fearful, and amazingly have the most testosterone of ANY animal in the world.
Smaller…….they are shorter in length but as their name suggests…….BULL Shark. They are more bulked up & they certainly are inquisitive. The muscleman of sharks.
Bull sharks are scary..
It's because they have the highest amount of testosterone in any shark they've discovered. That's why they're so aggressive, the ass hole of sharks lol
Shark expert: What's it gonna do, bite me?
Of course, when they see us, they will learn to think 'food' if we keep feeding them by hand.
@@mutemaids if sharks associate the sound of an engine with food being thrown into the sea then that poor girl who jumped off her jet ski??
An old one from when Shark Week was fresh and interesting. Love it!
I very vaguely recall watching this as a child in the mid 2000s, shark week was the shit growing up, eventually it got to a point where it started doing the thing it originally fought against: fear mongering.
A lot of old miss information in this video. Some good footage though.😊
Sometimes stupidity gets punished. Find it difficult to feel sorry for that 'EXPERT'. Couldn't watch anymore of that 'expertise' after that 'expert' accident.
The worst thing human do when interacting with sharks is hand feeding them 🤦♂️
These guys are crazy! You mess with sharks, bears, etc you’re going to get bitten someway
"Im safe now cause im in clear water" is that what you think😂
Bloody hell Nigel haven't you watched stuff about bull sharks on TV before
These sharks are vicious. A 14 year old girl was half eaten in Florida by a bull. You dips talking about how harmless they are. Bull,Great White and Tiger are the killers.
I know. What if there is a shark hybrid consists of tiger, bull and great white at once?
@@necillawong6813 that's a terrifying thought. Imagine it is as big as a killer whale.
just talking about the 3 big stars?.....as many die from Mako and some other....like just last summer in egypt happened
@@damaslpressath another shark that is really bad is the white tip. They are well known maneaters.
@@necillawong6813 not possible they are too distantly related to crossbreed like that.
They haven't came put of nowhere. They were litterally the inspiration for the movie Jaws. From the real like shark attacks of 1916 in Nee Jersey.
“I think I frightened her” 😂 that’s so dumb.
1:08 "i cant believe that happened"
Well what did you believe would happen Mr. Einstein?!
No matter how much you think you know about sharks your forgetting one thing , sharks have a mind of their own and don't care what you think about them because hunger controls them just the same as you ...
A very unpredictable animal. You will never know what they might do and shouldn't be foolish enough to take chances.
They should be called "pitbull" sharks. They are the pitbulls of the sea, only a thousand times more lethal.
They are nasty creatures. I rarely swam in the Keys because of those sharks.

42:00 Feeding sharks is a terrible idea.
It wouldn't be, but the headline should be, "Scientist says sharks safe, calf immediately ripped off."
Cant believe a Bull shark attacked.
Thats what they do pin heads
1. scene: This is what you get, Mr shark-"expert" !
Food is food 101. I doubt very seriously that a shark cares about the taste of the meat.
Standing in the water like they did I'd inviting a bull shark to take a bite....and one did. Seems foolish behavior on their part.
Foolish is too kind. Try idiotic.
@@Celisar1👍🥵🥴🙏
I thought Bull sharks were known to be aggressive? Feeding a wild animal is of no benefit to the animal. I cannot believe the stupidity of standing in water like that. Speechless .
"later I'll ask him what went wrong"
.....I'll tell you right now it was standing with bull sharks, no need to wait until later fam
😂😂😂
That's pretty much it in a nut sack
"What went wrong"? An idiot got in the water with 20 bull sharks.
Taking a shark out of water, basically suffocating it, causes catastrophic trauma. U shouldn’t do it, it’s cruel
What went wrong? You're standing amongst a dozen sharks. That's what went wrong. Darwin is strong in some of these folks.
Bro like ong, l love you for uploading this
This guy lost his right to the title of “shark expert”. And to make matters worse, he continues to make excuses for how dangerous sharks are. I’m tired of these do-gooders making sharks out to be lap dogs. Reality is reality, no matter what YOU may want it to be.
Greatest video intro ever.
Brisbane river. There have been bull sharks seen in flood waters here too.
A shark can only move forward. There was fish under Erich and the shark wanted it. It was an accident not an attack.
The spotter was distracted.
Me fucking too that one was so scary
You hear over and over again of people who are experts with a particular predator, knowing their behavioral patterns and handling such creatures, yet how often do we here of an expert being attacked, even eaten. True fact there is no such thing as an expert, you can convince yourself of knowing better than anyone else, everyone but the predator that sees you as a source of food period.
how many teeth does an animal need? Shark: " Yes"!
Don't forget about the infamous 1916 New Jersey shark attacks that inspired Jaws, the shark(s) swam through a culvet or something crazy miles way upstream to a dock where kids were swimming.
That's right. Jaws was inspired by bull shark attacks. Not a great white.
❤ best remark. Thought the same thing and watched this woman too.. she pets them😂
Bulls are relentless, most sharks stalk and go through a process before biting, bull sharks go in with an attitude right off the bat, they're super aggressive and if their hit or poked it just makes them more angry, bull are the #1 nightmare.
Can't blame the lizard for at least hissing at you 😂🤣 all of a sudden you pick him up ♥️😂
Guy got so confident that he forgot the basics.
It’s a wild animal and if it decides to bite u, it will
The testosterone levels of a bull shark put the great white to shame. That and the fact that Bulls can swim in brackish waters make them a fierce force and killer.
Is Eric still an expert ? Well he’s definitely experienced Bull Sharks biting first hand or foot so to speak?
🤣🤦🏻♀️
He passed away in 2020, at the fairly young age of 61.

Just a matter of time… Keep playing with them.
Wading into shallow waters..surrounded by shark..and then being surprised when one of them take a bite...is just plain dumb..

The baby bull shark was adorable, but the adult ones are assholes. And that goes for all sharks (only predatory ones; not whale sharks, etc.). I smile everytime I see any news about dolphins or orcas killing a shark. I don't trust sharks no matter what anyone says. I'll swim with any cetaceans and feel comfortable, but I'll never get in the water with predatory sharks.
Every Shark is a predator, There are no herbivorous sharks, and just because there are Cetaceans around does not mean there are no sharks around, I have seen both in the water in the same area at the same time.
I always wondered why people catch them an put them back,if I catch them they are dead

Famous last words from the expert
Croix?
