This video is not an accurate representation of what kind of background a customer receives, especially the K models. My background has been an absolute nightmare to install and it is my 3rd one from this company. It came in 5 pieces with some of them having HUGE hollow areas right in the center which causes them to not stand straight and only have a tiny spot for silicone on each corner making it nearly impossible to install as it is next to impossible to apply any pressure to the siliconed area from the front for the bonding to occur as the front area isn't flat. Add that to the fact that each piece I received weighs almost 40 pounds which makes the bonding of the silicone to the glass even more difficult as the background always slides/drifts off before the silicone has hardened due to the weight and it being wobbly.
The only way to possibly install these pieces is to buy many cans of Pond & Stone Gap Filler to fill the huge hollow areas on the back of each piece to add some sort of rigidity to avoid the bending and that the back side has somewhat of a flat surface to give you more areas to apply silicone. Whoever designed the K-Model that I received never had to install a background like this, otherwise I can't fathom how someone would come up with the idea of making it this way. I had purchased a smaller K-Model before where each piece stands up on it's own without issue which makes installation easy. This latest background that I bought was for a tank of 112 x 48 x 48 so I guess the person who made this tried to safe a couple of bucks on the fiberglass material which is now causing me this headache. If you are in the same boat as me, try to use velcro on 1 or 2 of the spots designated for the silicone and also use C Clamps to try to keep the background pieces from sliding off while waiting for the silicone to dry. However, only do this if you have a large aquarium as the glue of the sticky side of the velcro obviously isn't aquarium safe and it may come off after it's been in contact with water for a while so pray that the background will still stick to the aquarium wall with 1-2 fewer spots of silicone. :(
