    Dear Chris,
    You got massive energy explaining the teams tactics and strategies. It is so hard to see all at the same time, not only that what they intend to do. Amazing! Biniam and his team mates look destin to win this stage. I thought Biniam will be boxed left and right but didn't have the energy to deal with Biniam. Biniam outsmarted them and his talent sprinting with such shortest distance he wins it. He is making The Tour De France as if he is in control to win it all the way. Two stages wins and kept the Green Jersey it looks he is marching towards Paris to make history where the whole world 🌎 is waiting to document and write the history. But I am not certain if it is a fault of the UCI. What can they do to hinder the biggest provider of cycling events in the world not sticking to some of their rules?
      Back to the stage, when I first saw in on TV, I was nor shure, they always cut camera viewing angles and do not really show the complete sprint from above. But you have found the right views, documenting the deviation of Bini and Jaspar from left to right of the street in this excellent video analysis of yours and only as a result of this Bini and Jaspar are able to block A. de Lie by closing the existing gap in the middle between them, hindering him to sprint himself. It is not dangerous if he decelerates, as he does, but if he would not have, it would have become dangerous, so it is again a breaking of the rule.
      But this time it is not so obvious, we do not see anybody crash and the public thinks the penalty on Phil Bauhaus, at stage 5 was to hard, and most important of all: the good guy ;-) wins. So most of the viewers will be happy or at least will not be unhappy with the result. Imagine the uproar if they would have punished Bini and Jasper for deviating! Look in the comments, nobody would understand. I guess they would quit watching TdF. So let's just continue in promoting one of the biggest sport events of the world and communicating and explaining some of its real important rules. Thanks to you, it is always a win! 🙂 Enjoy!

    Chris, thank you for the great analysis. Yesterday during the ITT, you mentioned that Ben Haley should have conserved energy. However, seeing him do the same at stage 8 raises concerns, potentially impacting EF's performance. Additionally, I was hoping to hear your thoughts on Søren Kragh Andersen's role as a lead-out man. You often emphasize the importance of staying locked into their sprinter's wheel. Søren didn't follow this strategy and kept going instead. Could this decision also be seen as a tactical error? Philipsen's sports director acknowledged that sticking with Søren on the right side, where there was less headwind, might have given him a better chance to win in hindsight. Do you believe Philipsen's claim of being unwell, instead of attributing his loss to not having the legs? This shows that looking back, they see what might have been a better strategy ("hindsight is 20/20"). Philipsen himself admitted the stage suited Bini better, despite claiming not to feel well, indicating both tactical errors and external factors influenced the race's outcome.

      Tips for a newbie: try to build it into your lifestyle. Commute, run errands, joy rides all on the bike. Don’t try to be fast first; try to be smooth. Long easy base miles will give your body the chance to adjust and build support blood networks for intensity work later. As you burn more calories, you’ll need to add a fourth meal into your day. As you get stronger and faster, your form will become more important, so even if you’re on the indoor trainer, practice being in the drops and keeping your head up. Don’t attack hills from the bottom; start them easier than you think you need to and try to accelerate over the top. Happy riding!

    EF was fine to start with the first attack, but they should have fully pulled the plug when the break didn’t form with their first attack. Instead, they did this weird thing where the two riders off the front didn’t fully drop out and they had other teammates attacking from the main group. There was definitely a miscommunication in the team, which is a shame because that roster is solid to hunt for stage wins.

    • @ChrisHornerCycling
      @ChrisHornerCycling  10 дней назад

      Right. Solid roster no matter how today’s stage would have played out. Which means that they don’t have to muscle anything today. Let the peloton do the muscle and then hope you can steal the stage win without wrecking the team. If not then there’s always tomorrow so long as EF didn’t kill the legs today. Such a strange tactic. 🤷🏼‍♂️😳😱🦋👍

    Both Philpsen and Cavendish should be required to monetarily compensate Pedersen and his team for any losses they suffer as a result of the crash they caused in stage 5. Their behavior was reckless and showed no regard for the welfare of the rest of the racers that day. The fact that they weren't relegated for what they did is a joke in my opinion.
