Can you Frankenstein your wingman and sidekick together to make a better edc and a second specialized tool to have some where by swapping the components ?
The carabiner clip this multitool comes with is where the bottle opener is, for those who come across this video looking to pick one up. I'm thinking on picking up the rebar, skeletool, & the wave+, to go with my Sidekick.
i just bought two of these, both have slight up and down play in the blades that lock. they lock and won't fold but they are not tight, they have about 1mm of play up/down, not side to side. i called leatherman, they said it was normal to have up to 1.5mm of movement, if i get more over time to return it.
So, it's not stainless right? Just high carbon? How is it going to hold up against Australia's humidity? My only tools that are not rusty are Victorinox.
Great video! I own that knife and like it, but I also wanted scissors on it. I just picked up the Surge, came razor sharp out of the box and is highly recommended.
thanks, this helped me make my decision. I want something for my pocket for canoe tripping/camping, not necessarily for around the house/town. I like that it has a small saw - it seems that many of the smaller multitools skip that in favor of a partially serrated knife. In your opinion, would the wire snippers double as small twig snippers for cleaning a branch?
Thank you for testing the tools on the Sidekick! I prefer the Wingman, only for the reason that I need the scissors. As a left handed person I always have issues with scissors and the action on the scissors (for the wingman) really help me. Other then that I also see the Wingman as more of an Urban EDC/ Prep MT and the Sidekick as more of a Outdoor/ Rural EDC/ Prep MT because of the Saw.
spring loaded plier get faulty 1st day once I put pressure to cut wire, wire cutters are not good, there is gap between cutters. disappointed, badly design, not expected from Leatherman such quality.
$70 where I live. You can imagine how much the full size LMs are. How are you enjoying the Sidekick? I’m torn between the Sidekick ($70) and the Rebar ($90) though I don’t need replaceable wire cutters.
@@cecilm3720 I've been carrying a sidekick for about 3 years now my only complaint is that the blade loses its edge fairly quickly. Otherwise I've used every tool a few times and find it handy to have in my pocket.
The can opener blade on the Sidekick and Wingman also has a wire stripper as well.
Good to know!
Thanks! I also like that it comes with the pocket-clip and the outside accessible tools.
I got the bug and bought 3 leatherman tools. Super tool Sidekick and a Rebar . All got good reviews by many . Cool stuff.
Just got a secondhand one. And I love it
Just came across this video. Very helpful, thank you for making it.

When you had that flat head by that electrical outlet I was like ,Nooo!!..lol..great thorough review
I was thinking Jeff Foxworthy at that point.
how about a long term update ?
Scissors? We don't need no stinking scissors. Lol. Sidekick is a decent multitool. I have the Surge too. Huge number of tools but heavy.
you should do a review on the oht

does the saw blade work on both push n pull stroke?
Do you recommend this over the skeletool?
This was awesome! I have a wingman, was trying to debate between a sidekick and a rebar... Going with the rebar!
How often should I sharpen the blade with low-medium use?
Hexotone Once a month.

Thanks! I really enjoy your videos!
Glad to hear it!
slotted screws are better on a hinge so if you paint over it you could just knock the paint out with a screw driver

Those nippers would certainly work!
