Truth. I'm not really worried about running that fan on low for 11 hours. When I turn on a fan, it's because I want to cool off, not just watch the blade spin.
2-way charging on the new battery--awesome! You know I just had the thought the other day that "hey maybe this USB Lithium can charge something else?!" Nope didn't work, but really nice to see they added this now. Hopefully they can either add this to newer versions of the 2Ah or make the 3Ah the standard battery. What I don't get is why they didn't think of this sooner, along with the charge indicator. The latter of which they obviously had experience with, with ONE+ batteries--originally had no indicator and then it got added on higher end batteries, then became a standard feature. This 3Ah is really what the whole thing should have been to begin with. It's not like these tools have been out for years or there weren't 3,000mAh cells before now. Kind of feel like a sucker for buying some of the now "1st gen" stuff...oh well.
Of course they thought of these things before. They didn't have them initially because then they couldn't sell you the upgraded version, once you had the tools. Why would they include a 3Ah battery with an indicator and reverse charging, when they can give you a 2Ah with none of those things, and then sell you the good battery later? It is all about maximizing profits and keeping shareholders happy.
The new 2ah batteries have the button on them to allow you to charge. They sell a 10 pack for $99 online. (use the description "USB Lithium 2.0 Ah Lithium Rechargeable Batteries (10-Pack)"
The highest amperage an 18650 battery can be is 3.5ah. So they could have a higher current battery, but, most companies aren't going higher than 3ah cells
Higher capacity you mean?. Remember there's a trade off between having higher capacity or higher amp discharge. Some tools with low amp draw like the fan will benefit greatly on 3.5amp battery, but let say the soldering iron need high discharge rate since it a high resistance device it would be better paird with high discharge 3.0 battery. Also you can easily swap the 18650 inside to your desirable specs.
Prefer the model that uses regular batteries. Lasts longer, one less battery type I need worry about and it gives the fan weight to easily set it down and it stays anchored well.
These batteries leave a little to be desired. They get very warm at the top whenever they are doing anything over the USB port. All that heat is waisted energy. My guess is they are stepping up or down the USB voltage of 5.5v to the battery voltage of 3.6v. These are also pretty expensive, considering an 18650 cell is about $4, and that's all these are. Overall, I like these products, but I wish they had used two cells in series to get a higher voltage.
I thought the original batteries would have charged a phone when I originally bought in to this tool line. Wish they would have done this for the first run of batteries, but maybe this is a case of them listening to feedback.
if they can use that for a ryobi right angle impact wrench, it would be a game changer, but I highly doubt it since the battery looks like it wont put out enough volts
I am more interested in run times on the high, rather than low, on devices, because when things were on high that's when inefficiency Creeps in.

@@TheCharleseye Yep this is likely the case. Always sell they "next big thing", even if you could have just made that thing all along.

How much will that charge up a cell phone battery? Looks like it would be a great travel backup battery.
How long does the fan last on high?
thanks for the demo and info, have a great day
Bought two for my rv works great for such a small fan. They dont blow much air but it does make a difference
I bought thius with the two pack 2AH pack, it is great, I am definitely thinking of getting the two pack 3AH battery

The Tesla car battery 18650?

A small correction the TEK-4 line was lithium-ion. I still use them.
How long will it run on high??

A year after release, they still don't sell them here in Australia!

No, it's a case of them doing what every company does. Release the inferior product first and then get people to pay a second time to "upgrade."
How long on high?
With the 2AH batter I get almost 5 hours. I've had this fan for over a year with no problems
if they can use that for a ryobi right angle impact wrench, it would be a game changer, but I highly doubt it since the battery looks like it wont put out enough volts
Hm, I wonder if the Ryobi 21-watt or 14-watt solar panel will charge either of those batteries.
And I thought I was a ryobi fanatic lol
Love the shirt, where did you get it from?
check the links to my store
in the description
Tek4 batteries are lithium ion 4-volt batteries.
the USB lithium line is so new, and yet there's already 2 different battery is a little annoying. And you have to buy the better one separately.
I guess so but there is plenty of uses for the slightly smaller one, only the little floodlight and fan would really benefit from longer runtimes?
I can't think of a power tool line that doesn't offer higher capacity batteries separately. Certainly, the Ryobi 18v and 40v line does that.
Does the 2A version also charge phones?
The older one does not. The new model 2ah and 3ah ones do!
So ryobi encased a single 18650 cell with plastic and charge 5 times more? No thanks.
When charging my 2amp battery the green flash is more rapid is this normal..im using a fast charger
is this Battery compatible with the HP53L?
No, the HP53L uses Tek4 batteries which are lithium 4v batteries also.
Nice more run time.
All you said was Yada Yada
These tools need a direct plug so you can run them without a battery ....
