The foam cutter could be useful for shaping foam for RC planes and stuff. The ratchets and flashlight are nifty. I think the asking price is a bit high though.

Unlike the 2amp version that can ONLY take charge. The 3amp version can Take charge and ALSO give charge. Plus the 3amp has 3 LED's in it that can tell you how low it is by the yellow button on the 3amp version. Green, Yellow, Red. Bi-directional is an impressive feature in that package size. I didn't realize that! A good quality 18650 lithium ion battery 3500mAh or 12.6Wh is $20 on its own and you need a charger (you can go smaller battery size and get built-in USB-C charge port though). These are 12Wh with bi-directional for $35... not bad at all.

The foam cutter may be the only thing that might be useful for the price. Ryobi states that the ratchets are only rated up to 72 in-lbs (6 ft-lbs) and they do not recommend using it manually. The 3V system is really lacking in power.
Interesting. I'm getting crazy idea to modify my Ryobi P3100 Soldering gun to work as a Foam cutter 🤔 Very cool tool, but little pricey. Thank's for this presentation.
The flashlight was more cardboard around the edges with plastic in the middle, a little too thick for the cutter. The knife was quicker to just run around the bottom of the blister. Thanks for watching.
@@Shoptoolreviews Ryobi did have a 12 volt line back when the tools were still blue and ran on NiCad batteries. My first cordless was a 12 volt from them about 20 years ago.
I think it's a great idea for this line. Cheaper than Milwaukee with the benefits of more usable tools with the same battery. Milwaukee only has led lights and now headphones with the USB platform
They could have given us a couple of laser levels. Instead, we get a flashlight with a cat toy on it. Even the DIY homeowner folks can use a decent laser level, for hanging pictures and such. Why does anyone need a laser dot on a flashlight? Are we doing presentations during power outages?
RYOBI should have magnified battery covers on all of these tools. The ratchets would benefit with a magnetic base instead of putting them down you can put on something metal instead of having to put on floor or table to keep it hands reach.
I tested the ratchet prototypes and I really like them. I thought the power output was kinda weak for 3/8 drive, but the 1/4 drive would be good for automobile interiors and other light duty stuff. I wouldn't be ashamed to use them in a professional garage.
I agree that it would be good for low torque usage, like plastic panels and stuff that you don't want to break. I like that there isn't a huge battery sticking out on the end, but it would be nice if they were a little longer.
@zacheriahrucker8915 I bought a Skil 1/4 drive ratchet back in 2007 when they were being sold at Walmart. This Ryobi ratchet reminds me of that ratchet. The only difference is that the Ryobi ratchet has an interchangeable battery where the Skil ratchet had a base that you had to set the ratchet in to charge and the battery is not replaceable.
@@officialshadetreeamerica I’m thinking of getting one of these ratchets, the 3/8 drive. How does it compare to a regular ratchet like a craftsman or at least a Pittsburgh? Do you think it’s too weak to be used as a ratchet with the help of being motorized?
@tones6083 That's a good question. I feel the 3/8 ratchet is kinda weak when it comes to its performance. It will run fasteners, but just comes up short when it comes to the amount of torque it puts out to break free and tighten. With that issue, I would suggest using a regular ratchet to break free the fastener and following up with an electric ratchet. The power output for the 3/8 is the same as the 1/4 ratchet. It appears that all they did was change the head. As for using this tool as a mechanical ratchet and break bolts free, I would never do that to any tool made of plastic. There is a good possibility of snapping the tool if it is on a tight enough bolt. I hope that answers your question. If not, let me know and I would be happy to clarify any further details as much as possible.
I have liked the mag glass they have with 18v and clamp on a gooseneck. I don't really get this handheld one, without a clamp or anything you lose some capability, would love a cap option with a simple tripod type screw point and a pivot head. The flashlight seems decent with that pivoting head, mag base at that price... I'd rather it be $40 with no laser though. That little clip fan is super useful for it's size... they really have an interesting line up with this platform.
I'd like to see the ratchets next to the m12 ratchets. I know speed wise the m12 will blow these little batteries out of the water, but I didn't bother with the 1/4 drive and only got the 3/8 because the 1/4 wasn't even more compact. But that ryobi 1/4 looks like it would be. I'd just have to paint it red.
At that point of it being a single cell, it’s asinine to not just make it run on standard 18650’s. I’m sure they say it’s for a safety and ensuring quality performance, but they just made it take up more space for a single cell and will charge much more for just a $3-4 battery that could have been a pop in with a larger 21700 and fit the same form factor there without the plastic casing. I hate this.
I agree with the overpriced LEDs. The led is pennies and the 18650 is maybe $5-10. That said I was complaining the LEDs to what Milwaukee has offered and I'ma impressed.
