The Note isn't worth $940, the V30 isn't worth $830, the Pixel isn't worth $840, and the X isn't worth $1000. Yet consumers still buy these overpriced phones, essentially telling smartphone companies they can get away with greatly overcharging for phones.

I managed to get the s8 for 550 euros back in june. Seeing as the iphone in Europe will cost upwards if 1200 euros. I think the s8 is prolly the best option for a phone right now high end with great features plus similarly priced with one plus 5 atleast here where I live. I don't think there is a bettrr bang for your buck high end phone. The note 8 or pixel xl are not worth the 300 euros more for debatable meaningless features. Just my 2 cents.

Kevin De Smet depends on how much you get charded over say the regular contract without the phone. I did not get it from a carrier usually people who have multiple contracts get a phone for free and they resell it brand new sealed box. I just get their receipt and warranty when I get it so it's not a big deal. Also you should check for deals sometimes carries discount the phones on holidays. I think you should be able to find it in some shops for 600 euros without a contract.

There are plenty of other phones that can do better than what the X can do, but because it's Apple and it's their tenth anniversary of the iPhone, they can do what they want to the price and people will still buy it.

That's unfortunate. I hadn't planned to upgrade my S6 Edge+ this year, still love it 2 years in, though developed a hole in my pocket, it slid down and I firmly stepped on it damaging the screen greatly. It's still in one piece and works fine but looking for an upgrade. The Note 8 is my top pick, the LG V30 and Pixel 2 XL came and gone but their screen qualities and lack of interesting features for me didn't compel me to change my mind. The Razer has been the most interesting competition so far, though unfortunately I'm on Verizon so not really an option anyways. Still would be curious to see how you stack it up again the flagships. At least it's a pretty interesting phone if nothing else.

If I were considering one (which I actually am to a certain degree), I'd wait for next year. It's a significant redesign from past iPhones and as per the usual for tech companies, there's bound to be teething pains which will be solved next year. As a bonus, it'll probably be cheaper. If you want an iPhone right now and don't want to spend a lot or don't want to be an early adopter, the 8/8+ are excellent options. If you want the X but don't want to be an early adopter, wait for next year

Over the days, I see the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus prices drop drastically. And because the iPhone 8 Plus also has the A11 Bionic chip for AR capabilities, same Potrait Lighting, water resistance and a glass back allowing for wireless charging, I now think that price to performance ratio, the iPhone 8 Plus wins it. It also still retains the home button and fingerprint scanner while still being cheaper than both the iPhone X, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and other high end flagships. For some reason, after consider, to buy the iPhone 8 Plus instead of the iPhone X seems more feasible because in practical day to day use, it's still as fast as the iPhone X. Waiting for a Review Re-Do from MrMobile next year on the iPhone 8 Plus.
POINTLESS GUY my thoughts exactly, I’m not all the way sold on the X. U get a smaller device with not all the kinks really worked out. I with with the 8 Plus and will not be looking back. It’s a solid device with probably the best battery life from the lineup. Can’t go wrong with it and its features
Well the 8 is basically a X just in the old form factor. Sure you dont get the OLED screen and the FaceID but then again what is wrong with TouchID? I also noticed price reduction in my country and Christmas specials is around the corner so personally I also think the 8 plus is the better buy. But having said that I find it hard to buy the 8 or the X. Still rolling with a 6 plus and considering that the 8 still looks the same is a bit of a bumber for me. Phones are already faster and can do more than most normal users need. Manufacturers are now giving us edge to edge screens,not because we need them but because it's another why of getting you to upgrade your already more than adequate device. In the UK the 256GB(the only one to get because of lack of expandable storage) iPhone X is £1149. I'm waiting to see if the oneplus 5T is still around the £500 price tag and waterproof and will be buying that.

Such an expensive phone with less or outdated features and over $500 to replace a screen. Funny thing is, that metal around the screen still look like bezels. I own a Samsung Galaxy S8+ since its launch and just got the new HTC U11+ also launch day couple of days ago here in Taiwan and they both have more features than the iPhone X. In fact the U11+ with 128GB / 6GB ram, 6 Inch Quad HD display, Quad DAC with Qualcomm aptX HD which through BT 5.0 provides LDAC (3x normal BT speed) 24bit Hi-Res audio WIRELESSLY! Having now an iPhone X and seeing this review, damn how things changed. FaceID is just instant now, feels like magic. Gestures are just so seamless as well. This phone aged super well, there’s nothing I fell I’m missing out. New iPhones are better but don’t do anything new hardware wise. All software features could’ve been added to the iPhone X if they wanted!
I own the iphone x and I am under-whelmed. The black ring around the screen and the notch at the top, coupled with facial rec being buggy and slow - I am returning it. In my defense my second phone is the Samsung 8+ and it appears all of those issues have been dealt with by Samsung...on top of it the X is just too small...I like Apple but they are a little late to the party on this one...
It's hard to believe all of the "I'm an Apple loyalist and switched from my x to an s8/note8 and I love it" stories at this point. If you truly were an Apply fanboy you'd just switch back to the iPhone 8 or 7 or something.

This is my first iPhone. Got it because I feel as if Apple finally caught up with the rest of smart phone quality that run Android OS. Honestly, well worth it so far. Most phones outright cost $500-$875. I’ll see how this phone lasts the test of time. My Edge 6 became slow and buggy after a couple of years because of updates and bad apps. Usually prefer HTC, but haven’t seen anything profound from them since my HTC One M7. But yeah, overall, it’s a really good phone. That OLED display is why it costs so much btw.
the siri button can be remapped (more like given more function) is the thing. Also you could activate bixby with the on screen home button.. but they didnt, the iphone has to put it somewhere.
Chrono Cubing I dont think you will notice a lot of quality diff between 720p and 1080p SloMo vidoes. plus 4k 60fps is great addon, but does that justify 300$ price increase!! Also having a higher geek bench score doesnt matter in day to day tasks( except rendering a video) if it isnt optimised properly like it is now. P.S From all the speedtests ( even from apple fan channels) IphoneX is not faster than other phones(except maybe a sec faster in opening games)
Still using my 6s and it’s still fast enough to work all apps and saves me over $1000. I think my 6s could still run another year before a worthy upgrade.

What do you mean the iPhone X has less features? It has more features than any other iPhone. Lost one feature... fingerprint sensor, but gained many other features compared to the iPhone 8 Plus... Face ID, edge to edge screen, OLED, OIS in telephoto camera, lower aperture in telephoto camera, animoji, front facing portrait photos, steel sides instead of aluminum, larger battery. I would say all of that is worth another $200 over the 8 Plus.

Minimum wage is less than 300U$ and people are stupid enough to buy thus in installments just so they can say they've got an iPhone, it's sad really. I don't get it.... If anything, this looks more like an android device without the "iconic" home button.... And the gestures?! Blackberry NAILED this with bb10 yet the majority of people didn't respond well to it.
gusbandicoot I loved the BB10 gestures so much. Still love using my Z10 when I pick it up because of those gestures.
Because #1 Blackberry customer service is horrific and #2. Blackberry phones are super laggy, making the gestures annoying as hell

Phones are already faster and can do more than most normal users need. Manufacturers are now giving us edge to edge screens,not because we need them but because it's another why of getting you to upgrade your already more than adequate device. In the UK the 256GB(the only one to get because of lack of expandable storage) iPhone X is £1149. I'm waiting to see if the oneplus 5T is still around the £500 price tag and waterproof and will be buying that.
The 5t will be 550 - 600 I'd say
As per the leaks it should be around the same price range.

Sooo true. If U are an all hands on deck Apple loyalist just buy the damn thing and stop pretending it is worth every penny as any Android phone. Because it is not. On Android to charge extra U have to have functionality and specs. At Apple U are charged premium as a fashion statement. Those worlds are apart and they do not intervein and they don't have to. They are made for different people. Let us leave it at that without picking each others bones.

Problem is, reviewing iPhones is useless, people who wanna get it will get it no matter how good or bad it shows in reviews or what the price , because to them every new iPhone deserves whatever price Apple decides because they just wanna show off their new expensive phone and iMessage, so to them, every new iPhone is worth it

Thank you for putting the truth out there. I have been an Android user ever since the HTC Desire HD my first smartphone and have never owned an iPhone for all of the reasons you've kindly mentioned plus no option for an micro SD and most importantly everything has to be done through iTunes while with Android it's just drag and drop. Love the "cynical cash grab" soooooo true! Fast charging adapters are standard out of the box for any Android phone. Such an expensive phone with less or outdated features and over $500 to replace a screen. Funny thing is, that metal around the screen still look like bezels.

FaceID is just instant now, feels like magic. Gestures are just so seamless as well.
This phone aged super well, there’s nothing I fell I’m missing out. New iPhones are better but don’t do anything new hardware wise. All software features could’ve been added to the iPhone X if they wanted!
I own the iphone x and I am under-whelmed. The black ring around the screen and the notch at the top, coupled with facial rec being buggy and slow - I am returning it. In my defense my second phone is the Samsung 8+ and it appears all of those issues have been dealt with by Samsung...on top of it the X is just too small...I like Apple but they are a little late to the party on this one...

The tech is good on the iPhone. It actually works. Apple studies the tech and gets it right Something android has NEVER BEEN GOOD AT. Samsung makes the android experience HORRIBLE.

This is my first iPhone. Got it because I feel as if Apple finally caught up with the rest of smart phone quality that run Android OS. Honestly, well worth it so far. Most phones outright cost $500-$875. I’ll see how this phone lasts the test of time. My Edge 6 became slow and buggy after a couple of years because of updates and bad apps. Usually prefer HTC, but haven’t seen anything profound from them since my HTC One M7. But yeah, overall, it’s a really good phone. That OLED display is why it costs so much btw.
I think it's hilarious that the Bixby button was the worst thing ever and now that Apple has a Siri button that's essentially the same, no one cares.
the siri button can be remapped (more like given more function) is the thing. Also you could activate bixby with the on screen home button.. but they didnt, the iphone has to put it somewhere.
I use Siri quite a lot for simple tasks, but yes sometimes you can hold down the home button slightly too long

Chrono Cubing I dont think you will notice a lot of quality diff between 720p and 1080p SloMo vidoes. plus 4k 60fps is great addon, but does that justify 300$ price increase!!
Also having a higher geek bench score doesnt matter in day to day tasks( except rendering a video) if it isnt optimised properly like it is now.
P.S From all the speedtests ( even from apple fan channels) IphoneX is not faster than other phones(except maybe a sec faster in opening games)

What do you mean the iPhone X has less features? It has more features than any other iPhone. Lost one feature... fingerprint sensor, but gained many other features compared to the iPhone 8 Plus... Face ID, edge to edge screen, OLED, OIS in telephoto camera, lower aperture in telephoto camera, animoji, front facing portrait photos, steel sides instead of aluminum, larger battery. I would say all of that is worth another $200 over the 8 Plus.

Minimum wage is less than 300U$ and people are stupid enough to buy thus in installments just so they can say they've got an iPhone, it's sad really. Wish Apple like so many other companies left our country, but people buy it regardless making others companies Moto think that's OK to sell a G5 for almost 500 or even LG charging over a thousand on their G6.
