I absolutely despise the Digital gauge trend. Just give me analog gauges and decent-sized entertainment screen with buttons and knobs. I don't know how all these manufacturers think we want everything digital. It's not safe or convenient.

@@subiesojourner777 The Baja was based off the Outback wasn't it? Although, I'd love to see them build something more work truck based, maybe a regular cab or extended cab with a longer bed option since it seems all the dang mid-sized trucks have useless beds because they try to cram that crew cab onto everything...I don't haul people LOL, I just need a little work truck....my 87 Ranger was great for that and it had a 7 foot bed.

Top 5 changes needed for US market starting with 2026 Outback that can benefit most models.
    1. Hybrid powertrain option comparable to Toyota in terms of power and reliability.
    2. Next gen infotainment system with reintroduction of physical climate controls
    3. Refreshed design language starting with reduced plastic throughout all body trim/panels
    4. Top IIHS safety rating and global platform that can adapt to future stricter standards each year
    5. Next gen ADAS that is more advanced and can handle more frequent updates each model year as technology changes

honestly the digital cluster on the automatic CVT cars is better, for manual, yes definitely physical RPM needle since you always want to see it but otherwise that digital cluster has been in Japan since around 2020-2021 and you can put Apple Maps on it and everything, much cleaner and under the skin it's actually the same as the hardware, connectors everything as current analogue gauges in Subaru's, just with a bigger screen attached.

    • @Fineonee
      @Fineonee Месяц назад +3

@@xan2242 nah digital is trash! If I didn’t have the extended warranty I would have been out over a grand to replace my infotainment screen. I have a 18’ so it basically is only the radio screen as I can use my phone for the rest. Can’t imagine if it controlled the whole car like the newer models and went out. Let alone your fuel and the rest of the gauges. Somethings don’t need to change.

Plug in hybrid is extremely niche and you should only get one if you can charge at home because you will only reap the benefits if you can charge nightly. Not to mention the cross trek PHEV was merely a compliance car just like the Solterra and they didn’t want to actually make it.

I bought a '24 Crosstrek after driving a used 2016 Hybrid Crosstrek. The 2024 is a bit disappointing regarding less storage on the inside of doors, and the center console arm rest doesn't slide forward like in the 2016. I bought the 2024 intending it to be my last. I wouldn't buy a hybrid again. It just didn't give the savings on fuel to justify any repairs of 700.00 (out of pocket)or more, on the hybrid components

I'm hoping they decide to go Hybrid by default. If they're throwing in a nearly full size gas tank that can get an extra 10+MPG around town and a few extra highway... that would be a game changer for them. The compromise of a smaller tank on other brands is a double edged sword. Yeah you're putting in 'less' fuel but no less often.. because you lost 4-6 gallons of gas.
As for the gauge cluster, I know Japan has had it for a little while. It seems nice in theory, but we need to see an industry shift towards better (longer) standard electronics warranties... especially for things that are not owner servicable, and how integral things are to eachother. Like the gauge cluster, head units and headlamps, 700+ for the assembly is a LOT for someone to swallow, especially if you subscribe to the older and honestly still proper logic of do the other now so you don't have to do it again, soon. So you go from 50-100 dollars for bulbs to well over 1000 after labor for a single assembly. This is especially true for the accent lights, seeing these fail earlier than the regular headlights, but where they're the DRL... especially in states with safety inspections where anything that has a light has to work/ places that require DRL, it's wasteful; You can't get the full life expectency out of the actual headlight. The stereo dying not only takes out the radio... but eyesight, HVAC, the ability to turn off Auto Start-stop and manage vehicle features/settings. Not a jab as Subaru, they aren't the only ones doing these things. Someone shouldn't have to shell out those higher costs for the repairs at the 4-6 year mork or a manufacturer sponsored extended warranty before 3/36 for something so key for the basic function of the vehicle.

I like screens but I prefer physical buttons and knobs for everything you need for daily driving. Everything. Screen should just be confirmation and info.
I think swiping or toggling on screen while driving feels like it takes your attention off the road more than operating a knob or pushing a button to engage heater / change temperature etc. With that I mean that you need to really check your inout on the screen and considering how slow Subaru screens have been in the past I am not looking forward to the next generation. From someone who owns both a 2024 Crosstrek wilderness and an 2024 Impreza if you are thinking about buying a Subaru rent one or borrow one first and spend some time with it. They are glacially slow. The ride is about on par with a Jeep Wrangler and handling is about the same and they both handle crosswinds on the highway about the same. Essentially you have a Jeep Wrangler without the cool factor. Absolutely no redeeming qualities. Interior cabin noises on the highways well let us say you won't fall sleep at the wheel. Lag time on both the old go faster pedal is only matched by the lag time of the infotainment center and plan on the infotainment center freezing up on you on the regular. Good luck and chose wisely.

I' disappointed the forester hybrid will not be plug-in, but I'm anxious to see its specs.. I sure hope they put it on the wilderness too.. Our 2011 outback is still going strong but I'm anxious to have a replacment option with considerably better mileage, and a boost in off road capability would be great too.

We had a 2014 hybrid crosstrek; the weight of the battery neutralized the motor assist.
Had 4 Subs. Legacy 2.5 was the best. Have 2.o crosstrek at moment

I have 5.6KWs of solar and an18.6KWH battery at my house (In NM) so tend to average 81mpg with my KIA Sportage PHEV. I average $15/mo for gas. If I were to get a Subaru, the PHEV Crosstrek, or if they make one, a PHEV Forester version is what I would get.

It's there available to buy. I see more and more of them on the roads around me. That 3rd row must have been hit for some with needing a 3rd row for a larger family and such. It's far better than the previous Tribeca which had a hideous console/dash setup and was very uncomfortable to do drive. The Ascent is night and day in comparison.

I wish they bring a truck to the lineup! I’ve seen mock ups and they are fakes but ugh! I want one so bad! Bought my first Subaru in 2018 (crosstrek) and I love it! Been thinking of getting something new and if they HAD a truck-I’d have a truck now too! 😊

    Hey Alex.
    Cheers for this.
    So no WRX wagon?
I/we have here in Australia the TS wagon.
    Love it.
It has the adjustable suspension modes too.
Only available with the CVT but feels good.
Oh and it has a few STI logos around the place to make you feel good.
You guys need the wagon over there.
    Cheers.

Really happy to hear about the non-plug-in hybrid. I had a hybrid escape years ago, really liked it, but ditched it because ford was not honoring some issues owners were having with batteries. I do worry that we'll lose the spare tire though....

I'm hoping the 3-row Subaru EV gives the Kia EV9 a run for its money. I currently have a Subaru Ascent, but I'm really tempted to trade it in for the EV9 as it really seems to be a high quality, feature-rich car. But if the Subaru version appears to be better (or at least on-par) and is competitively priced, I think I'd prefer to stick with the Subaru brand. However, if it's a lackluster, half-hearted attempt, then I'll be going with the EV9 instead.

certainly in UK, almost nobody is buying electric only, mainly fleet sales due to horrific purchase/finance rates and very high insurance costs , hybrid is likely only winner, as most older home owners can't have home chargers (to do with electric supply into homes), so plugin hybrids are just extra weight the drive about in. Still hoping for Outback XT + digital binnacle & full LED lights (halogen must die like gloss black trim)!!!!
