I find it amazing that even though this was a Tribute for my mentor & my friend Frankie Knuckles that lost his battle with a disease that I'm battling with everyday as well, people will still try & bring negative vibes into what was done for the "LOVE OF"! So, If what I'm playing on or what I have my X1 sitting on is all you can come up with to try & dim my light, then I pray that those thoughts are removed from your mind..... I do me & only me & I would ask in the most humbling way that you all do the same. Notice that Mike was the only one that played soulful Chicago style house music at the Gramaphone Bolier Room. Even Gene and Hyperactive with his techno have abandoned their soulful sides. Sad that the Chicago style is almost a thing of the past.
This is an amazing set. If you want to hear the history of house music and how it all begun.... here it is. Incredible.Wish I was there. I believe the old guy who was showing up at around 20 minutes into the set was the owner of The Shelter. One of the first clubs in Chicago were house music was played. But I could be mistaking. In that club Larry Levan was one of the D.J,'s. I haven't read all the comments yet so this may be old information. Futhermore... House was born out of Disco. Disco was always a place for black, white, straight or gay. With house music this message is even stronger. It just don't matter if you are black, gay, straight, white , asian or whatever. House music is love. House music is unity.
Greetings from Colorado! I love bumpin' house music while traveling down some of the most beautiful & scenic mountains I have seen. The beauty of music & nature go hand in hand!I grew up going to Gramophone, listening to streetbeat on WNUR. This brings back so many memories! It's great to see EDM is getting more accepted in the US.
