- The Season 2 Roadmap for Modern Warfare II is here and while it has some great additions and improvements for the free versions of the game, it doesn't even meet the bare minimum expectations for the paid game. What are your thoughts on the Season II Roadmap for MWII?

Mhm. I loved Warzone 1 and genuinely play wz2 a decent amount but I play multiplayer a lot again, it seems brs are dying off in favor the more traditional games again and more extract tarkov type games. Personally I really enjoy multiplayer in this game, I liked vanguard and Cold Wars multiplayer when it came out, and I eventually after a year or more began to like the mw2019s multiplayer . I like the mixed pacing of this game with the faster ttk, all the other games I stopped playing much by this late into the lifecycle , but we NEED more content for this game and more 6v6 support as it seems more ppl r playing multiples than the past few years too

@@MiketheNerdRanger Because theres no other FPS that beats it (gameplay wise). Battlefront could be it, but Dice reuined it. CoD has no competition at all, thats why they can afford to do this. And to add to the matter, theres a lot of people that only play Warzone and spend lots of money on it that dont even know whats going on and how bad Activision is treating their customers.
As someone who knows multiple AAA devs including someone who works on this very game I can safely say that this is not their fault.. I promise you they all want to make a good game. I bet they're sitting on new map designs right now. All of these decisions are made by managers looking at monetization analytics.. It's nothing new for money to ruin creative stuff. It sucks but it's easy to see.. It's much more likely for new players to pick up a free-to-play mode.. it's simple. Less people are playing 6v6 so it makes less money
It's not really a new low. The lowest is vanguard. When you die and go to hell that is where you will find a floating bar with "vanguard" written on the side

Thank you Ace for being a voice and advocate for the community. We love you . This is unacceptable especially considering the game already passed a billion in sales. Looks like that money is being funneled to executives and shareholders and not being invested back into the game and creating a more appreciable and acceptable amount of content.
He may speak for some. But the salt is annoying AF. No one I play with buys the battle pass and we always max it out well before the end, so dunno why he’s making it sound like sticking it to the man for not paying for it this time. Especially with the new system which makes it even easier to get the guns early. Also his need to state every video that he hates warzone is getting old. Everyone knows and don’t know why anyone would give a rats ass and want to hear that on every video that isn’t a gun guide. But the most annoying thing of all is if he is claiming to do a news update do a fuckin news update of everything coming, not just what he wants and without what he thinks on every single thing, let people decide for themselves. The channel has fallen far below the grace it was at before, months into the game and he isn’t even done with launch weapon guides when most people are working on platinum or poly grinds by now.

My question is this: What the hell is IW actually contributing to their own game? Ashika Island was made by High Moon, Ranked Play is by Treyarch, Raven is working on Warzone and the updates to that game is just reverting a bunch of dumb decisions that IW made. The 2 new maps are Museum, which was in the beta and should have been in the game at launch, and Dome which is a map that has been remade a bunch of times and is part of the Warzone map. The 2 new Ground war maps are literally just parts of the Warzone map and modes like Infected, Gun Game, and Grind are staples of COD that should have already been in the game. Even the main operator for the season, Ronin, is a freaking repeat operator from MW2019!!! We also know that IW will never change their MP design decisions either despite feedback from the community. What the hell is IW actually doing?!! What are they actually working on?
They are contributing by filling their wallets with our money.
And to add to this, the Kodachis are MW2019 weapons, as is the crossbow, and it's also very possible that the "new" AR is actually the Kilo from MW2019. So out of the 5 weapons added in the game, 2 are brought back from their last game, one is potentially in the same boat and only 2 are 100% new.
I've said it before and I'll say it as many times as I have to. IW is absolutely, undoubtedly incompetent. They have always been this way. They can't make a good CoD because they are lazy and think they're better than the rest of the devs. The only company that can make a good MP at this point is Treyarch, since SHG lost me after they dumped their game halfway into its lifecycle last year.

Maybe they're pulling a sledgehammer and taking an extended 5 month vacation right after the game launched lmao. That slow support and lack of content was what made Vanguard's popularity nosedive even harder after launch, and it seems like they've learned absolutely nothing. MWII sold much better and seems way more popular though, so it's even more puzzling and ridiculous to have it happen again.

My two cents as someone who has been playing for nearly 2 decades.
This is the most entitled, pathetic, lazy money grab I've witnessed so far from this franchise. I could rant about how its fully turned me off the franchise but I'm going to try and be productive instead.
The reality is, it's beyond comprehension how their team ever thought this season would be received well, and I can honestly say, except for the literal work of the Devs, these people do not have a hard job, they make it hard for themselves, here's why:
It's really obvious that gameplay variety is most felt through new maps. Modes and guns are great, but without new maps to play them on, it still feels the same to the player. Modes like infection are a great break from the norm, but they are predominantly just something to play when you're a bit tired of the main modes/ want to play something more casual. All this being very clearly pointed out by the community (and in their data), you don't have to look far to get this feedback. So what on earth are the community team doing? They're either completely inept, or not listened to by the people calling the shots, if they'd done their job, or if they had been listened to, the focus would have been way more heavily skewed towards providing more maps than anything else.
Recycled content or not, honestly it doesn't matter, 6 remakes from old MW2, 8 parts of al mazrah cut into small maps, the community just wants more maps. How they managed to invest essentially zero time into this since launch is truly beyond comprehension, there's no way the entirety of all these studios are working on bundles and warzone.
They want to prioritise warzone, that's okay, if I'm leading the operations for this, then I look at the revenue generated from just MW2 purchases, I build a seapare team and I have them purely focus on developing multiplayer content using money generated from the base game sales, I do the same for warzone/DMZ using the money generated from bundles etc.
Awesome, now I have two teams, that are focused on learning what the fans of their specific side of the game want, and delivering to the fans what they're literally screaming for. That means not wasting time on things they clearly don't want, which is still incredibly overrepresented in this new season.
Now I'm no genius, but even I can do some basic maths and know how to conduct surveys, look at player data, and make logical decisions based on what the community is asking for.
It makes zero sense to stop supporting multiplayer. You have a slightly older average audience in there, the average of which have more dispensable income that your average younger warzone player. If you take the stance they already won because they have our money for the game, it's already a dead discussion. The reality is, after vanguard and then the massive attempt to convince us that this was them listening and giving us what we wanted, you're putting the nail in the coffin of this generations intention to ever buy your games again.
All in all, just because you "can" make more money by altering your business model to squeeze every last penny from your community, doesn't mean you should. They see this as the way to make tonnes more money over time, but the stupid thing is, you're getting more money now, but people are going to get so sick of this formula they will just stop buying the game at all, which will cost way more in the long run.
Every time they do something like this, another Indie dev starts working on their own alternative to this game, sooner or later, one is going to be good enough this franchise will lose all its monopoly. That or people will just stop playing altogether, both are bad for Activision.

It's actually crazy that BO2 released 11 years ago & had way more content at launch than we will have at the start of season 2 😂 I'm so glad I've started to move on from cod & play other games because even as someone who doesn't play it that much anymore I feel sorry for the people that do! Just remember they had 3 years to make this game & 3000 developers working on it & they best that can do is 3 remastered maps & a beta map being released as 'new content' 😂😂

I just got done playing BO2 for several hours on Plutonium.
I feel so colossally stupid for buying this game, I hadn't for the past couple years, but stupidly allowed myself to think since they had so much time they'd do at least a competent job. They broke Warzone, DMZ is an unfinished Tarkov, and the thing I actually paid for is AT BEST an afterthought. Uuuuuuuuuugh... Thanks for covering this, Ace, and being honest with your opinions.

My expectations were low, but wow. They really dropped the ball. I'd love to see how much staff the various developers have allocated to each game mode. It seems like MW2 MP is being run by a skeleton crew, judging by how slowly updates are coming out!

Sorry for saying this but it's your fault for buying a lackluster. If a game does not have enough maps at launch it does not deserve the money. Only buy based on the content available and stop supporting garbage companies like Activision if you want them to listen. As long as there's cash inflow, people don't matter.

Man, have to give Ace credit where it's due, I truly believe he wants the best for the COD franchise. I didn't buy the season 1 pass, a friend bought it for me, given the content dropping this season and as someone who bought the game on release, I won't even spend the free points I earned from maxing the battlepass on this season

Thats what's so hilarious. They thought with DMZ and Ground War they were making people jump ship from Tarkov and Battlefield to COD, but the experience is so shallow, all that is happening is Its giving people a baby version of something another game is doing in much more depth. So essentially, they're making tutorials/ intros for other peoples games, which is where people will go instead of CoD when they get bored of the underdeveloped, basic experience!

Having enjoyed MW19 as a late bloomer to COD, and with friends who were keen on this MW2, the painful trickle of content for MP killed our collective interest like a lead weight sinking into the ocean, and seeing videos with similar dissatisfaction at the direction of where efforts are focused for expansions is a definite mood killer for what was meant to be something light-hearted and casual
Definitely a waste of money vs time invested at this stage, and it would take something big to get me back into this
Been an avid COD player since Big Red 1 (COD 2) and I think this is finally the end of the road for me. I was so excited for MW2 as the modern warfares have always been my favorites of the series. Upon the release of MW2 I was so underwhelmed, it’s hard to put it into words. Hoped it would improve with the new season, but you echoed everything I have been thinking in this video. Never cared for any type of battle royal games, it was an obvious cash grab when the devs saw how Fortnite got popular years ago, and transferred the entire game format to COD. Truly a shame. But in my time off of COD I’ve discovered vastly better games that give me the feeling I once had with the Call of Duty series.

wrazone needed more attention to be fair since it was bleeding players like crazy. Hopefully now that it's been sorted they will put more focus on MP for season 3/4.

Well I think this is enough to convince me to finally break the COD cycle I was in for quite a few years, managed to skip vanguard and after this I don't think I will be returning to play a full paid release from COD again. Should never ignore the paid experience to focus on the free version unless you are never planning to sell the main game again.

I stopped playing after BO1 because MW3 looked too similar to MW2 for my tastes. Came back for this release since it was so hyped and it had been over a decade since I picked up a CoD and I’m incredibly disappointed with how they’re handling classic multiplayer. Probably will never return to the series tbh

As someone who plays CoD mostly for the zombies, this is the first CoD multiplayer I've played in a few years, and while I can enjoy them putting in fun game modes like gun game and infected, I wanted to see more. I don't play Warzone, I don't play DMZ, I don't play the raids and I don't want to. I already thought it was a little stupid that they hid a weapon in a game mode that some people like me won't want to play, so that way if I want to use that gun, I have to play DMZ. Then I realized they did it to boost the numbers of people playing it and maybe that would get people to play Warzone and buy the battle pass too. I'm no game designer but I feel like if they weren't having to work on the stuff for warzone and DMZ they could have focused on multiplayer and maybe we would have gotten a couple new maps and a new mode

@@neonwhitea.1548 1 day max. There's a bunch of maps in WZ already, there's nothing difficult about cutting them and placing barriers around them. You know why they haven't done that yet though? Because they want to keep them for later to present them as "new" content, just like they did with Dome.
Why do that when you can drip feed them at a slower rate and do even less work.

You hit the nail on the head! And I too will not be spending (as I haven’t since black ops 4) any money on the battle pass. 6v6 modes get not attention or no content. Like we how do they expect us to play the same maps for another 3-4 months and not expect us to get bored 😑. All my friends have moved on because there’s not content for 6v6. Hell just loading the game on PS has WARZONE as the cover art and loading screen art! They do not care about 6v6 regular gameplay. If season 3 is this weak and no more content is given to just regular COD players who pay for the game…I will be moving on from cod as most of my friends have already done. This is just a money grab now. This is sickening. But like I said in the beginning you are correct. Expectations were low but they’ve managed to go even lower than my expectations. 😢
Dissapointed with the lack of mp content but kinda glad to see how much the 6 v 6 mp community is speaking up. I never liked warzone or battle royales from the beginning and despite the lackluster updates, it finally feels like the CoD mp crowd has finally grown a voice that shouldn't be ignored.
And if anyone isn't sure about buying the new battlepass, know that I unlocked all the weapons in season 1 with ease and without any xp tokens. Take that with what you will. Cosmetics and loading screens(???) are the least of my worries in video games though.

Maybe direct your ire at Activision instead. I can guarantee you that the big picture decisions about how the game is handled aren't made by the developers at IW or any of the other studios. They just do what they're told by the higher ups at Activision

I’ve strictly played 6v6 since COD 4 and have played since COD 1. I stopped after BO4 as this franchise has mutated to something completely different and unplayable.

"Pro" type streamers/players/pro's won't do anything but guess what, they don't make Activision the most money, its the 99 percent of the other "normal player base" that does. Love your thoughts and in agreement with the cost vs benefits of cod mp. Game was not worth the price nor is it worth it now.
I was going to post a link to leave feedback on Activision's support page but that link literally just goes to the MW2 subreddit. So what I did instead was leave a bug report about a "Dev error" where the devs included a map that was remade in Vanguard and one that should have been playable at launch in the season 2 update.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but at least with the old paid map pack system, the devs felt like they actually had to give us maps.
Now that the incentives (bad though they were) of that old system are gone, they don't seem to care at all anymore.
Yep and those 14.99 map packs, they had to sell you those, so if they wanted to get people interested, they had to put work into them.. Now, they don't have any map packs to sell, so it's like they think "Why should we even make any"

I drilled hours into this game but I'm just burnt out hunting camo's. I won't pick it up again until there's at least 4 new maps, also would be really nice to be able to filter out maps you don't want to play on.

I waited and held out hope for this season and had faith in the developers to bring us some quality content. This video legitimately makes me sad and po’d that I spent money on this game. I’m honestly embarrassed that I did. I paid my money I fulfilled my end of the bargain and still 3 - 4 months into the game we’ve received not a single new multiplayer map.
Thank you Ace! You’ve always been real. I appreciate your stance and hopefully more people follow your example. Don’t know why AV doesn’t hire you. Gun stats, perk balance, community feedback, map design. The amount of positive design decisions you could bring. Could make CoD better than the golden era.

I thought they said Hardcore was returning, didn't see that on the road map. But I agree with you 100%, this drip feed is pitifull and to be honest I am not spending another penny on it. Defininately not with what they have planned in 2024, no way there getting another £70 from me. I am 100% voting with my wallet. Ace, thanks for the hard work and I will be supporting your choice and I hope every other MP player does as well. Been screwed enough already as I am a die hard Hardcore player and after what they did to us. 20 years, owned every PC COD since the start in 2003 this is the end of the COD cycle for me.

Played CoD since Modern Warfare (2007), was really hoping that Season 2 would assuage a lot of problems and issues I had with the creeping boredom of obtaining Orion and having nothing else to do in 6v6 besides grind mastery kills and just play. Unfortunately, I'm in the same boat as Ace. I wasn't expecting much at all and was actually expecting to be disappointed, but yet all I can say is "Yikes."
I am thrilled you spoke up. If they listen to anyone, its definitely you. I only play multiplayer and I’m beyond disappointed. Have been for years now.

Pretty much just a MP player. I stopped playing about halfway through S1 because the content was sorely lacking and got burnt out a bit. Was hoping S2 would deliver plenty new content (specifically maps) but it fell very much short there. Maps are setting we experience the gameplay through and to me are the most important part of these games. Maybe in S3 or S4 I will feel like there is enough new stuff to make me want to play again.

I couldn’t agree more, I play warzone but I do really enjoy multiplayer and honestly one of the only reasons I don’t play it more is because of the lack of content. Not everyone wants to just do shipment 24/7 for the camo grind
I’m with you on this Ace. I play MP only. Have no interest in the other stuff at all. Main reason is, MP is easy and quick. I can pop in, take a few matches and log out. And I like the pace of it. The other modes takes up too much time…

After this video I have some ideas to come from this. Firstly, as a MP main in the COD community, I am a disappointed at the content being released in such a fashion. I can understand that we did get some stuff and yes we are looking at a two year life for the game as well but this is the first and long past due update to the game and personally I believe this update is a deciding factor for players looking to invest their time into this game, especially those who paid for the MP side of the game. I do see where Ace mentioned here about the developers conditioning us to less content and really it speaks to me as DMZ and Warzone 2 is the focus of MW2. Original Warzone did well and now they want to continue that which i can understand but that seriously puts lack to MP. We are getting no new maps infact you could see this back in Cold War. Outbreak and Nuketown are just like shipment, dome, and the other new maps coming to season 2. There really isn't nothing genuine about the update and it makes me question what exactly they are doing. They are making this huge game style update but if this is the content drop we are expecting then what's that gonna say for this coming update that expects us to dump another $70 into?
Their focus is on bigger modes, they want to kill 6v6 and focus on groundwar/BR

I grew up with CoD and seeing the series go from 3-4 maps every 3 months with 2-3 being completely new maps to seeing them not even release one new map after 2 seasons, I refuse to support Activision any longer I haven't enjoyed a CoD more than half the time playing since AW and with the fact that the games seem to be targeted towards the people who want to pay $60 ($70 nowadays) to sit in a corner I doubt I ever will again.

I think I'm in the same category as Ace. Have played only MP and/or the paid version of this game for a looong time. There's no other way than to see this trend as disrespect for paying customers. They're going to stretch as far as they can until it hits the edge. And like you said - money talks.
7:52 Currently... I don´t play any of the modes. Warzone feels slow and is boring to play against RPKs all the time in every lobby.
DMZ makes me go to sleep after 5 or 6 games.
Multiplayer makes me feel frustrated cause I want to get better but lobbys start to get harder. And I'm tired of waiting for a match and having to play in "El asilo" or in the border map.
I'm just disappointed.
The only """""good thing""""" (in my case) is that I haven't unlock Orion, so I'll go for it this Season 🤷♂.

It's so frustrating because you already know the reason normal 6v6 got practically nothing new was because of all the dumb changes they made to warzone that they had to put all their resources into in order to have it fixed by season 2 which resulted in the worst season we've ever had. Whoever had the brilliant idea to change all the most unnecessary things is the reason we have nothing new coming this season in 6v6 and I hope they learned their lesson (they probably didn't and mistakes like this will happen again)
Resources into warzone? They removed content lol. No back packs, reverted 1v1 gulag (using existing gulag map), redeploy drones (reskinned balloons), reverting to warzone 1 looting, removing 3 plate vests and it being default. Literally no “additions” or content to warzone 2
@@LeoCaldersson I never said additions were made I said changes. Just because nothing new was added doesn't mean they didn't have to use up resources to fix the game. Even something as simple as reverting everything back takes resources and that's not even including them using people to fix the game that's been broken since launch with all the glitches/broken servers.

As someone who mainly plays Ground War, I'm glad to see two new maps although I'm worried it may be like the latter seasons of MW 2019 where they added parts of the Warzone map as Ground War maps even though they weren't designed to be played Ground War on.
Ground war is a sniper fest, that’s all people do.

I would love to play the bigger maps with no vehicles and no snipers, also change the format to CTF. Or limit snipers to one per squad.

The fact that it's gotten SO BAD that the old system of paid DLC map packs actually sounds like a better alternative is sad in itself.
@@reg1990 free seasonal battle pass was so nice in the beginning and they've been shafting the player base. I'd happily pay 20 bucks for 4 new maps, maybe 2 new guns and a zombies map in treyarch games over this garbage
The reason why we’re getting so little content for multiplayer is entirely thanks to the over emphasis on Warzone since MW19 and BOCW have done a pretty great job with DLC unlike now.
As a 6v6 and invasion player museum as an actual new map would make this less upsetting but we all know it isn't so while I'll always be excited to see nostalgic maps it's upsetting knowing they rely on those maps to keep us happy instead of actual new content and that's before I get into how little it actually is

I've played WZ maybe a total of 10 times (since mw19) played plunder (maybe 2 -3 hours) dmz (maybe an hour). Even though mp hasn't been great since I got back into gaming ( mw2019), I will always prefer mp over br type games. And the fact that the mode I grew up with and pay for het less and less attention, is saddening
I appreciate your stance considering your platform. I do also think that we need to be loud. Not buying it helps but we gotta really speak on it. United voices for this kind of thing on social platforms really does help.

I strongly believe the developers are really trying to milk us out of our money with how they’ve been promoting the game since launch. The entire “two year life cycle” with two years of content is pretty much just their regular cycle of updates+content but just STRETCHED for a two year span… which is horrible and honestly feels like a scam as a consumer of this game. As this game ages I strongly believe the focus will continue to shift away from the staple multiplayer and pump out content mainly for the free to play areas of this game in order to rake in as much revenue as the devs possibly can. I completely agree with Ace and until we stop supporting this game whether that’s micro transactions or other bundles, we cannot tolerate this. I miss the old cod, I grew up playing all the old cod titles and I hate to see one of my favorite games decline this badly 😭
I’ve always loved higher player count modes, and I’m also a Battlefield fan (BF1 and back) so it made sense that I fell in love with GW back in MW19, and that it’s the main reason why I actually liked that game. But another reason that happened was because the 6v6 was awful, so I never played those maps apart from shoot the ship and 10v10. So now I mainly play GW.
However, in this game, I feel most of the GW maps are vehicle dominated sniper havens that are too big, and have too many open spaces that feel impossible to cross on foot without getting sniped or shot by a tank (Taraq, and Sarrif Bay especially.) Guijarro and Santa Seña are more tolerable for me, while Sa’id is pretty decent, buy they’re all nothing compared to the great GW maps in MW19 (Quarry, District, Farm, Port, Boneyard - chef’s kiss) that IMO were well balanced, allowing for various play styles to be successful. While I find the GW maps underwhelming, I could manage to find enjoyment somehow. But what really puts the nail in the coffin for me, is the ghost suppressor “bug” that’s probably intended, along with the godawful perk system. My entire play style (100% stealth off the radar aggressive/flanking) ever since I started playing COD is quite literally impossible (the 100% off the radar part) in this game, and otherwise has an intrinsic disadvantage. But it’s especially bad in my preferred game mode, where there are constantly UAVs in the air to the point that you don’t have enough rockets to shoot them all down; and even if you did, the game would become an AA simulator.
I can’t remember the last time I touched the game, it was sometime last year. It’s just deeply frustrating that I can’t play this COD how I’ve always played and enjoyed COD for the last 12 years. I could put up with the perk system if suppressors worked how they always have; and since the “bug” was discovered after launch I just feel scammed honestly. It seems like a mutual feeling with plenty of “AAA games” nowadays. Wish I could get my money back for this unfinished-at-launch, seemingly unsupported, pile of garbage, but we all know that’s not how this industry operates, oh well.
I hated GW bc it’s a badtardizafion of battlefield, and killstreaks have been annoying since cod4, both to use and play against minus UAV and one off lethal, like mortar strikes. Anything that’s takes another player away from the shooting experience is trash

You can unlock the Battle Pass weapons if someone drops it for you and you exfil with it at DMZ.
U can unlock the battle pass weapons just by playing the multiplayer even if u don’t have the battlepass

Although I think you're right about voting with your wallet, my concern is that a money hoarding dragon like Activation will just interpret that loss of revenue as 6v6 making them less money and they'll just invest even less next time. Truly disappointing to see this level of disregard for the paying players.
Warzone 2 isn't doing great either so there may be some hope. I'm so ready for BRs in general to fall out of favor with the general public.
