I've heard reports from some bringlings that they couldn't find the box computer at the coordinates, so if you plan to venture out there, it may not be there anymore. Nobody's shown me any evidence that they have it yet tho...

The French-Japanese sticker comes from a Drobo, which was a series of storage boxes running their proprietary "BeyondRaid" techonology. They came both in DAS and NAS configuration. I had a FireWire version back in the day. It was quite slow.

1:27 About power supply translating to food - it happens due to it being called something similarly on another language. For example in Lithuanian, it could translate to "Feeding block" if not correctly (maitinimo blokas)
Reminds me of my 9th birthday when my dad picked up a bunch of junk computer parts from the boot sale and some sheets of cardboard, so I could build my first PC. Fun times.

9:01 You are absolutely correct, you have to change the `archisolabel` to the name of your USB flash drive in the system. In fact, I wrote an article on this a while back, because it is a very common issue when booting from Hard Drive, using an EFI partition.

Well ive owned a box computer for the last ten years, i went to box computer school, and i have a box computer certification from ups, i would never make these kind of mistakes on my box computer
This is unironically very similar to my last build.
Me and a friend won a science fair in high school for a sheet metal box with a pc in it. we called it "box boi 2 the boxening"
btw the reason why most of the holoiso's installs fail is because steamos game mode is using vulkan as a renderer
and as you might guess, any gpu that doesn't support vulkan won't start game mode
(also wayland is bad on old things as well)

I had a computer class my junior year of high school and one of the last assignments was to build our own computer case and use one of the spare computers in the classroom and I took a full-sized office desktop and put it in a tiny ass Amazon box completely self-contained. I was so extremely proud of that thing. I did stress test on it and it actually ran super cool. I think it actually had better thermals than the original case genuinely as shame they wouldn’t let me buy it off the school. 😂

the french translation actually makes alot of sense, alot of languages' word for power supply is something along the lines of "feeder", "feeding", or "food"
13:23 its the intel integrated graphics. I have the same issue with nearly all variants of steamOS with my A770 and A380. If i recall i had best luck with just steamOS from valve directly.
If you add a different GPU you'll likely need to re-install, or a different distro like with Bazzite having different distros for intel integrated, intel arc, AMD old, AMD new, Nvidia. And being SteamOS it will probably need to be a newer GPU, like GTX10 series, AMD RX5xx, or Intel HD630 or later

I have built PCs like this before. Back in the late 90s, my roommate and I had a 486 on a cross made of wood, hanging on a wall behind a TV, running Free BSD and serving as small file server and Internet gateway.
That someone used glue on that box shows you that they cared at least a little bit. Not enough, but there was SOME care given.
I love this kind of thing. Weird computer builds are my favorite. This video made my day. Thanks!

I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to Linux or Steam OS so I'm genuinely curious. Is using Linux better for lower end spec computers because it's less taxing on the CPU/GPU? And if so does that in turn make it easier for the lower end comp. to run games because it frees up more of the CPU/GPU so the game can run better than it would on the same comp. running windows and the standard Steam program?
@@VaultHunterRyRyit is generally lighter than windows, but for gaming you need relatively modern hardware, at least when it comes to the gpu. It should preferably support vulkan since that’s what the directx translation layer relies upon. You can check an option to use OpenGL for that instead, but that will perform worse and isn’t guaranteed to work with everything.
You can still run Linux native games since most of them use OpenGL, but not many games are native
