Push the turn on button for 3 secs then you can go to you keyboard..

I know right? I had to yell for my husband to come help me. It worked but only after I unplugged all the cords as instructed.

For all of you guys who are reading this comment and still cant get your mac to work, you must hold, in the EXACT order: Command, Option, P, R, and then press the power button. YOU CANNOT LET GO OF ANY KEYS AT ALL OR THIS WILL NOT WORK!!! It may be kind of awkward with both of your hands holding the keys while trying to press the power button, for me i had to put my keyboard right next to my mac mini, and while holding all keys in that exact order, i had to use my pinkie to press the power button while still holding all keys at the same time

Thank you. This fix worked fine on my older iMac. It took two tries. Awkward holding down all the keys and hitting the start button at the same time but well worth the effort.
Thank you! This procedure (holding OPTION+COMMAND+P+R) worked successfully after a power surge during a storm caused my iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) to shut off and come back on with the white screen. (Prior to using this procedure, simply turning the machine off and on several times left me with the white screen each time.)

Thanks so much for this! This seems to be the only thing that will reboot and restart my computer from the white screen. There seems to be a problem with this happening I've noticed on a few help sites and I just received a new update to 10.10.5, so I'm hoping this will resolve the issue permanently.

Until I saw this video, I had spent 20 minutes in frustration. I tried this fix two times and then after the 2nd time it worked. Note: I never heard the 2nd chime (@ 1:05 in video) but regardless, my iMac is back up and running. Big ups!
have this problem with my imac , i used as a second display , but for some reason i need tp check some files what i have in that computer , and the screen is grey , is not working i gonna try this but i don't have a apple keyboard at this moment any recommendations ?

Absolutely brilliant! My Mac desk top is an early model 2008 and this method worked straight away bit tricky holding down the keys and turning on at the same time but hey did it and Many Thanks Luis Rios

I had to restart my computer to install OSX Yosemite, and when it came back on, the loading bar went halfway, and then the screen turned white. I tried to restart it and it did the same thing with the loading bar, even after I tried what was said in this video. I really need help.

Santiago Pivaral replace the hard drive or reinstall the OS. Otherwise it’s a graphics card issue.
@@santiagopivaral8225 I was struggling with the same problem and all I did it was removing the HD and turn on my Mac without HD (I got the message saying no HD) and after I turned off and put back the HD and it was ok

Ugggg...I never get the second chime. The loading bar has a pink line less than halfway and the loading process starts but never finishes.Not sure how this happened. All I did was turn the computer off when my screen locked up on me. Help!

Hey, I have this problem with my mac, it's quite old. At first when I turned it on yesterday the apple logo was zoomed in and loading, so I tried the command + option + p + r and then it zoomed out back to normal but still loading. Any tips would be great, thanks
So I tried out what you said and instead my screen came up with OS X Utilities? I've read to repair my disk which I've done multiple times along with trying to reinstall a new copy of it though I keep getting notifications saying that I can't and my ID is temporarily down but it has been saying this for days now! Is there any possibility that you would be able to help me?

Crap. Didn't work. Got the 2 chimes and learned that my fingers are the perfect candidates for finger Twister, but still have the white screen. Guess I will be taking a trip to my local iMac store :(Thank you though for the help.

Gus you need to go in recovery mode which by holding alt button when turning your i mac on then go in disc utility's click on your hardrive and press on first aid

screen went from white to blue with lines.....
graphic card. sometimes they loose connection overtime due to manifactor issues. You can fix it at home, but its risky and nerve-wrecking! type: "Burn the VGA and Fix your iMac" here on youtube and see the video.

After following these instructions... (too bad no instructions on how to push 5-buttons at the same time)...
---I held down 3, pushed on button and quickly before the on button reacted, pushed the 4th button...
I did not get a 2nd chime, however my computer finally did start up differently after a few minutes.
It gave me 4 options.
- Time machine
-Reinstall High Sierra, which I chose.
(I don't remember the other two options).
Reinstalling HS failed once and froze about 25 minutes in. I rebooted again, and it finished the install.
It took about 2-hours to finish and it worked.
*** Nothing I did prior worked until I pressed all 5-buttons.
I believe this helped me fix it!

Well, two years have passed and my computer has gone to white screen again. So I found this video, and followed the instructions. It did not work. Looking through the comments to see what other people had done... Low and behold, I find I had posted comments her. I did not remember doing it. Following my own instructions, it worked. Shift key being the last one to press. That was it. It booted up normally. No fixing software. So... Thank you to myself. See you in another 2-years! 👍🤘😛

Thank you it all works. I was given choice to reformat drive or restore from a back up. I didn't want to do either so then shut down and did a normal boot and worked perfectly!

yeah that is what i was thinking because when i turn it on. it starts making this weird clicking noise inside for about a couple of seconds. so there no way of fixing it or changing the hard drive AppleGordon1 ?

My iMac had an odd series of issues. I was trying reinstall several typefaces after updating to OSX Mavericks. During the reinstallation of typefaces, the program seized up my iMac and after restarting all I had was a flashing screen that went from my desktop to white over and over. THIS FIXED IT. Thank you!
Oh, I didn't hear any chimes, but this might be because my speakers were originally off. I just held down the keys until I was taken to the "Utilities" menu.
