I now have a one year review video - does painting tile floors last? Check it out here! ruclips.net/video/OYYMHW6YQSw/видео.html
Excellent presentation. You answered all of my questions!
Thank you so much!!
I'm trying to learn about all this now that we inherited a house. Thank you from another Angela
You're very welcome, that sounds very exciting!!
You should gone over the tiles with sandpaper after cleaning. It helps remove any protective coating on the tiles and creates many small groves, helping the paint stick. Also would have been wise to do 2 or 3 coats, then, depending on the top coat, apply 2 coats of that. Floors obviously get worn out quickly...
Thanks!
Awesome advice. I might give this a go.
Pls do you have a RUclips channel I can subscribe to
thats what Krud Kutter does & thats what the manufacturer recommends
@@gardencitylou5215 ruclips.net/video/IjcYo_YA8Zo/видео.html
that was very helpful, thank you!
You're welcome!
Came out great! Good video - thanks for the tips 🙏
Thanks for watching!
What kind of paint used by you??
Thank you. Well explained
Glad it was helpful!

Thank you so much!
Looks great 👍
Thank you very much!
I'm so glad I found your channel and this video I benefitted from the beginning to the end, and the new colour is very beautiful.😍
+ I also want to thank you for putting the Arabic translation on this video🤍.
This is amazing to hear, although I have to admit I think the translation feature is from youtube and not something on my end but I'm really glad this video reached you!!!!
Thanks for sharing I learned a lot. I want to do this project.💚🥰
Thank you for sharing, you should definitely give it a shot!
Looks great 👍👍👍👍
Thank you!!
Looks beautiful. I'm going for light grey too
Thank you! It's a great color!
Can I use fenumastic paint for floor tiles?
That floor before paint waa so much more beautiful
Great job.

Is a GREAT IDEA thanks my dear

Thank you for the information, i even did not know that u can paint a tiles ever
I hope it was helpful!!
ugh. love it
Thank you!!
Love 💕 it came out good that’s something I wanted to do to the 2nd bedroom since we don’t have the money to redo that area I also would like do the paint the tile floors of the bathroom
Thank you, it's such a great way to transform a space on a budget.
Love it! Would have really enjoyed seeing the furniture in the room with the painted floor.
Thank you!
Very nice good idea
Thank you!
Yes
I have these exact tiles and I hate them so THANK YOU!!! Lifesaver
It's made such a huge difference, thank you!
Why do u white people have such bad taste in everything? Those are saltillo tiles, handmade in mexico
Nice
What a fresh, updated look! Love it! I need to do this in my front entrance hall but Im wondering how to keep people dogs & cats off for 7 days!?!?!?
Thank you, that definitely sounds like a challenge to pull off😄
Do it the day before you go on holiday haha
Soooooo nice!!!!!! I would like to do my bathroom floor tiles.
Awesome!!! thank you😀
Nice 👍 thanks for sharing new friend here
Nice!
Thanks😀
I like them before
Great tutorial. I m planning to do this soon. What is the color for your walls paint?
For the floor base coat, did you use 1 gallon or 1 quart?
Thank you, we used 1 gallon in Windsor Gray.
So glad I found this video. I have two small bathrooms that need to be gutted IMO but for now I think I will try this. One has rust stains that I hope the paint will cover. Looks really nasty right now.
That is a great idea until you can do the updates. I have done that before and it looks sooo much better!
@@AngelaMarieMade 5:33
I am trying it
Thanks
Well if anything, this at least helped me decide to just get new tiles. 😄
Video is well put together. A few tips. Sand the floor....220 grit....take the haze off the tile. Is there a reason why you allowed the cuts to dry? Because you typically want to roll into the cut while it's still wet. Also, a small roller would have gotten a lot closer to the wall to take care of any brush marks. Otherwise....full credit for taking it on and gettng it done
. How does it look almost a year later?
Thank you, I am in the process of releasing a follow up video with a 1 year review. It should be out in the next couple days!!
I also want to know how it lasted/ durability, under daily use?
@@bretthartline2870 repaint every 2 years.....
@@commonmancrypto1648WHO repaints every 2 years????? Oh noooo no...I painted my kitchen tiles 9 yrs ago and to this day they don't have as much as a scuff. It's all about the prep work. In my experience anyway.
@@jamiegarner4888I would be interested to know what type of products you use. Getting painted properly stick to tile can be pretty challenging. I guess it also depends on the specific type of tile and the amount of traffic it's going to see. But either way, I'm glad it worked for you.
Thanks for sharing!! May I ask how you cleaned your brushes and rollers? I painted my table and love the finish but man the clean up was tough!
I just scrape off as much paint as I can and then wash with mild dish soap and water!
Hi thank you for the video. I was wondering how long this paint will stays under direct sun light?
Thank you!! I can't give you an exact answer, but it should be durable in the direct sunlight.
That’s so inspiring. I’ve got exactly the same tiles in the kitchen. Angela, how much did the material cost you per the demonstrated footage? Thanks
Thank you!!! The total in materials was about $150, and I still have about a half gallon left of paint.
@@AngelaMarieMade Brilliant! Thanks for the inspiration ))
I have the same tile on part of my house also hate it. Im going to try this.
Best of luck! I loved how mine turned out!!
How long did it take the first coat to dry?
Inspired to get started on my mom's kitchen tiles. Can you tell us the type of brush used to hand paint the borders?
Awesome to hear!!! I just added a link to the paint brush in the description but it is a 2.5 in angled chinex brush
get yourself an edger! Its a pad with rollers on the edge that eliminates the need for tape or tedious cutting in and leaves a perfect straight line! I did caulk the crack between trim and floor and it turned out perfect!
The new color looks great! and the old color looks outdated; the only thing I would do in my own floor is using a semigloss finish instead of a matte finish; but in any case it looks great!
Thank you so much!
It looks beautiful. I have been thinking getting something done with my dull looking tile, can you please let me know what type of paint and sealer you used
Thank you, I have links to the paint in the description box!
thanks for sharing this, question how long is last after painting,do i have to repaint after a while or its only one time painting?
It really just depends on how much wear and tear it gets, i expect it to last for around 3-4 years in a heavier use area. So far it has held up well and it is almost a year.
Hi, Angela,
I want to know what you did in step 5. What is the product of the top coating?
It is a Rustoleum product and I have a link for it in the description box
Those are the exact same tiles in the bathroom of my new house. I can't afford to rip them up, so this is something that I made well try doing.
So happy you found it helpful!
awesome question have you had to retouch it since and if so how much longer after you painted? you mentioned you painted the bathroom floor tile that is what i’m planning on doing too and assuming that floor gets more foot traffic than an outdoor area for example just curious how long till you have to retouch areas
We have had very minimal scratching because we are using the room as a workshop and has gotten a LOT of heavy use but if you are planning on applying it in a bathroom it should hold up much better!
I added a runner rug on my bath floor that covers in front of the sink and toilet over to the tub, with really only about 3" border all around even showing, plus around the toilet. For a higher wear area, I'd double the top coat and maybe refresh that once a year.
What kind of paint you use so as not to clean out when cleaning
Wow...Trendy grey...Natural (what formerly was call Terra Cotta or Mexican tile) vs. "Pink" never goes outta style in some parts of the country...The, likely 20+ year, old tile floor you covered will still look good in 2045 (if clean ). Painting tile just before selling is popular as dragging patio or metal footed chairs will.... well lets have a follow up video 6 months after putting the furniture back...Love to see how this product performs over time...Thanks for the good techniques and well done video...
Thank you! I actually did a 1 year follow up video you may want to check out here: ruclips.net/video/OYYMHW6YQSw/видео.htmlsi=kCWM2JWaAMIOw9XT
Looks great! How has the paint reacted to mopping / cleaning over the last few months? I'm considering this for my laundry room.
Thank you, it has held up really well and easy to clean.
It's a nice, light sound, it's just a good thing, I'm just going to see the video, thank you, thank you, always be with me, just a good video, please,
I loved the old tiles when they were cleaned up.. Sage green or linen shade sofas. Lots of scatter cushions ... Light wood coloured furniture a lovely vintage Large Rug
In Creams, Greens, Ochre, add leafy green plants would have been beautiful... You discribe your out of date pink floor?
This roon could have been so much cosier...
Just my opinion....
Well done for your hard work though
help me figure out what kind of paint can be used with black to turn it into a lead
Very nice, it looks like the hardest part was cleaning the floor LOL!!
Haha yes that was definitely one of the bigger challenges but the knee pads make it easier 😂
This is a great video!!!! Approximately how long will the paint last before it begins to wear out? Or would sealing it every few years (how many) keep it from wearing through?
Thank you! I'm not totally sure of an exact time frame but I think it depends on how much traffic the floor gets. If it's a room that gets used a lot it may chip sooner and need touch ups. Also, if you do more coats of the top coat (2 or 3 coats instead of 1 ), it will be more durable. I'm not sure about sealing it again every few years, but the directions do say that another base coat layer followed by the top coat can be applied over the original top coat. Here is an FAQ from the product page that may be helpful: www.rustoleum.com/en/pages/homeowner/faqs/rustoleum-home-faqs?page=4
Anybody know where this can be bought in the UK or Ireland?
👍❤️😍
If you put painters tape around your roller nap covering it completely then pull the tape off it will pull the loose fuzzies that you talked about .
Thank you for the tip!
☺️👍🏻🔥
How do you keep it clean? Can you mop the painted floor with any cleaning products including bleach?
You can use a general purpose cleaner like Krud Kutter or soap & water but not abrasive cleaners like bleach
@@AngelaMarieMade thank you! Is it easier to clean when tiles are painted?
What about the walls how can i change the colour of the Ceramics, if it's black, bothers me.
What about cracks in grout?
What kindl of paint used by you ??
They do make all sorts of scubbers on a stick. No need for knee pads. I use my electric floor scrubber, and Libman mops.
That would have been good to have😂😂!!!
I have some tiles that have pressure cracks in a few tiles, what could I use to so they don’t show up after painting?
Same here - I plan to check the tile products for fillers, then sand very well before painting...good luck
The floors look way better now!
omg, yes. I couldn't stand the old color.😄
Does paint floor tile make it easier to clean..ie the grout is easier to keep clean after being painted?
Yes, it is much easier to clean now that the grout is painted over/
After painting the top coat, do you think it will be okay if I step on it before 12 hours? I’m going to paint my kitchen and it’s the only kitchen in the house.
The top coat really needs a lot longer to totally cure, like days. With that being said if you have to use your kitchen, go for it. We had some light foot traffic on ours after about a full 24 hours and it did cause some minor issues. If you did more than 1 coat of paint you are probably good.
All the links put down are in accsisable!!!! Whey
Will the paint not chip off in some time especially if it's a wet area?
With any paint, chipping can occur over time especially with heavy use. But, the top coat helps to prevent that as well as any water.
Which material should I use for floor to paint nicely
I have everything I used is listed in the blog post:angelamariemade.com/how-to-paint-tile-floor/
Would you recommend sending the tile before painting it? Some video say to sand it, others just paint it without sending it. Please advise.
I would not, especially if it's a bigger space I think that it would be unnecessary time spent. We went by the manufacturer's recommendation which was to clean the floors with soap/de-greaser and water and let dry completely before applying the first coat.
What type of paint can I use for my kitchen counter tiles?
You can use the same paint that I used in the video, I have a link to it in the description box!
I’m kinda sad because I think the floors before were so pretty it was like farmhouse boho and southwestern design style. A nice cream colored couch Some black accents and light woods with brass sprinkled in would look so nice. I guess with the gray color to mass it up I would sponge on some other shades of gray to make a faux concrete finish
I am trying to find a way to add a bit of visual texture ... dry brushing? swirl ? My kitchen/dining area is huge and I dont want a plain light surface that will show every crumb and spot!
Is this paint ok for a terrace that gets wet when it rains?
Unfortunately, it is meant for interior surfaces😥
thoughts on painting 1 inch tiles ??
go for it, I don't think it would take away from the new paint color and would look nice.
Very nice 👌👌👌 can i find this paint in the Gulf ??? Arabian Gulf
Thank you!!! I am not sure if it's available there.
💐❤️💐
thank you!
Hello its it durable? We always wash our floor tiles with water, is it ok?
Check out my 1 year review on these floors here: ruclips.net/video/OYYMHW6YQSw/видео.html and it is safe to wash with water!
My paint kept chipping after few weeks it looked awful, had to get a tiler to remove the tiles then replace with newer tiles, cost a fortune
would it ruin the floor paint if we clean the floorafterwards?
As long as you clean it after it is cured it is fine
Hey I wana paint my tiles how can I get this ain’t if am in Africa
WHAT PSINT ARE YOU USING HERE AND WHERE DID YOU BUY IT
Home Depot! It is the Rustoleum floor tile paint.
Wonder if this paint will make the floor slippery ?
I have not found that it makes the floor slippery and it has been a few months of using the space. Hope this helps, thanks!!
I recently painted our bathtub tiles with rustoleum paint and the smell was unbearable. Does the floor paint smell horribly too?
Oh no!! 😥I didn't notice a smell worse than any other paint I have used, we did have a lot of windows in our space and were able to get more ventilation so that may be a factor.
Is there any paint for kitchen counter top, which must be heat resistant
That's a good question, I'm not sure off the top of my head though🤔
@@AngelaMarieMade I did gianigranite countertops kits over a year now. And still amazing! Do it ! I did my entire bathroom counter top b kitchen . Looks a thousand time better
@@michellenguyen2085 havent heard of that...do you have a link?
Can you also do this on vinyl floors
Yes, it can be used with vinyl, hardwood, laminate, porcelain, concrete and ceramic!!!
yes - I have covered the world's ugliest 30 year old mottled golden brown vinyl!!
Is priming the surface required with this Rustoleum product?
No, it is not.
Latex paint is not intended for use on flooring. I would recommend against doing this.
What was the top coat?
I have it linked here! liketk.it/4ntm0
Great tutorial, clear and easy to understand,, but can we talk about using Cement color?
haha, thank you!!
Is it on only ceramic tile?
yes
How long does it last
Over the past 6 months it has held up very well, I have been using the space as a workshop and it has gotten heavier traffic than if you were to use this paint in a room. I am very happy with the results so far, thank you!
Does this really last? Can you mop it etc?
It really does, and it cleans easily as well!!
the top coat is amazing...it is designed to give a durable non-slip floor finish. I used semi gloss and it has that sparkling clean look tho matte is becoming more fashionable
Anyone know how to paint over the old tile and give it a white marble look?
I asked rustoleum for texturing ideas but they only offered stenciling or blocks of different colors etc. I'm going to experiment with dry brushing or swirling some extra colors...anything to break up the acre of plain surface.
I did my countertops watching Amy Howard's videos on Carrera faux marble countertop.
@@heenaqadir5338 over tiles? I've wondered if I could hide my kitchrn counter of white 6" tiles with dark grout?
What color is this gray?
It is Windsor gray, i have a link to the exact product in the description box.
Do u need a certain paint or is it any paint that's wasaable
You need the specific paint and top coat that is linked in the description box.
Which paint did you used?
I used a Rustoleum paint, it is linked in the description for more details!
Okay thank you♥️
Do you have to sand it?
No you do not, just make sure to clean it very thoroughly!
what is the top cover?
It is a clear, protective coat.
Can we use this tiles for toilet?
I don't think it would work well on a toilet because of how glossy the porcelain finish is.
A little sanding to the tiles not necessary?
That's correct, we just needed to scrub it with a cleaning product and wipe it dry
I think most people do it so the paint sticks better and doesn't scuff as easily. Also better if you want less slip on your tile, like if you have pets
@@Jayariee The product says no primer or sanding so it may be formulated in a way that it works better without this step.
@@Jayariee how is it working for you? I used the semi gloss top coat and have not had any sense of slipping, tho I dont have a dog running around
