    Clark discovering his powers as he ages is right in line with Golden Age Superman whose X-Ray vision developed into Heat Vision and his leaping, which even though it was leaping, was always a slower, softer descent which hinted at something more and Siegel turned into flying at the behest of Fleischer Studios and he finally admitted that it was a natural progression of the leaping ability.

      If you really wanna go by Golden Age Superman rules, don't forget how THAT character developed a new random superpower every other week, most of which were never used again.
      Meanwhile, Clark discovering his powers is what every superboy show did since the 80s. Superboy did it. Smallville did it. TAS/JLU did it with Supergirl.
      Also meanwhile, giving Superman Midoria's Quirk from my HeroAca sounds hella dumb...

  • @kateorgera5907
    @kateorgera5907 Год назад +118

    To be fair, Clark *wasn't* fully honest in that interview. While he doesn't know where he's from, he does know he's an alien and doesn't say so. We know he's probably still not ready to admit this, he's not exactly hiding it, but a lie of omission is still a lie. But yeah, of course Lois doesn't believe Superman is genuine - she wants a better story than that.

    • @scorpioneldar
      @scorpioneldar Год назад +1

      There's a big difference between not volunteering info and lying even by omission. A lie of omission is where you tell someone something while leaving out crucial info to make them draw a false conclusion. Not simply keeping a secret or not giving information you have

    As a massive Silver Banshee stan, I thought that this take on her was a pretty good adaptation. Following the show's theme of 'different but distinct', she definitely shares the same ideals as her main counterpart about achieving success and proving herself as worthy or capable. Even though it's not supernatural, book hunter Banshee, I still enjoy the new design and am satisfied with her having a fun fight scene. I'm just hoping that she becomes a reoccurring foe, because her helmet being smashed had me worried.

    Question, I may be miss-interpreting something here and correct me if I'm wrong but when they helped Banshee escape and gave her the helment, didn't they mention something along the lines of "it amplifies sounds" and then she smiles? To me that means one of two things, either it's the helment that has the sonic attack or, she has a small degree of meta abilities and the helmet amplifies them... I'll like to believe the second one as it'll make things more interesting and would create a small mistery arc to discover who is making this specific equipment for meta humans...

    I knew of course that the love interest of the show would be a main focus. What I would like to see, however, is a few episodes that focus more on the relationship between Clark and Jimmy. They’re best friends out the gate, but it’s clear to me at least that Jimmy doesn’t fully understand and appreciate Clark for his values and upbringing. This should be explored. Lois is behaving in a similar fashion and in a more prominent way. This could easily become a show that reminds us of the importance of standing for what we believe in, even if we’re standing alone. I hope it goes in that direction.

      Everyone knows that woke has no real meaning anymore. Like really, all it takes is the presence of a black Jimmy or a short-haired Lois for people to call it woke propaganda, when there's no real propaganda in the show. I mean THE SHOW NEVER BRINGS JIMMY OR PERRY'S SKIN COLOR TO ATTENTION TO THE PLOT! He just happens to be black in this show and we already have a dozen of Supermen material with a white Jimmy or Perry and a long-haired Lois. One cartoon chosing to mix it up a bit doesn't make it a piece of propaganda.

I think it's more of a representation of him overcoming one of his mental blocks and accessing more of his power(s) in order to save the people in danger at that moment. It tracks with how Superman is usually portrayed and it makes sense that a dangerous situation would push him to overcome himself, and the lightning is just there to let us know when it happens. On the other hand, if the lightning is actually there, I'm curious to see what they do with it. It seems to be some sort of set-up for a future plot point which gets me really excited. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen, didn't want to miss anything. The intro of the episode is interesting cos it shows Jimmy, Lois AND Clark (Not Superman) at the farm. Will both of them know early on that Clark and Super are the same?

    The later half of My Adventures with Superman was what should've followed Man of Steel. But Zack Snyder has absolutely proved on JRE he's too cynical to actually believe "Men can be better".

    Why clark looks muscular when he is wearing his reporter uniform but when he wears hi suit he looks Younger

    This show reminds me a ton of Avatar- The Last Airbender. The tone and storytelling style both feel similar and some of the absurdity like them posing as Daily Planet reporters also feels like ATLA.
    I suppose the biggest difference is the roles and pacing. Since Superman is the only combatant, it can’t be compared to ATLA in that respect and since the show is only 6 episodes, the writers don’t has nearly as much time as the writers for Avatar did. I just hope they don’t try to condense this very interesting plot buildup into the next three episodes. Whatever they are building up to definitely needs more time to develop.

    I didn't pick up that was Silver Banshee. Honestly when I saw the ice machine I thought it would malfunction and turn her into Killer Frost.

    I assume they swapped Ronnie with the intention of making them a rival group of reporters more ongoing than a one-off joke. 1 girl, 2 guys. 1 guy, 2 girls. That's just basic foiling I say.
    Far as all the Kryptonian tech. I have a "Superman" based theory and an Anime theory.
    SUPERMAN Theory.
    They've mentioned the ship growing, which I find so oddly specific despite going nowhere. If I had to guess that means it's likely that at some point, Lexcorp either started construction on an underground subway system (Cross continental or shipping, doesn't matter) or started drilling for Oil. Assuming you even can do that in Kansas. Lex found the ship and looted it. Could have Transformers animated and used it to jumpstart Lexcorp tech even further, or just stolen from it and whatevered with the tech before Livewire stole it.
    ANIME Theory.
    With the intense focus on Clark not knowing who/what he is, i'm assuming the season will conclude with Zod coming out from the shadows someway or somehow. Anime loves to do that, usually they insist on making it Time travel or a dead family member so you could easily put Zod on earth and thriving very well I feel without it seeming too incredibly strange.

      They call it woke disaster cuz the mere idea of a short haired Lois Lane or a black Jimmy Olsen pisses them off. (Just ignore the fact that there are plenty of superman material with white jimmy and long-haired lois for them to consume already.)
      People really do just want to complain.

      but that's how he is supposed to be, an awkward kid, who spent his whole life hiding his power from others. he is a good guy, and is always willing to help, but his social skills isnt the best when it comes to socializing with people his age because he has always been afraid of being found out.

      "Supposed", nothing. Whatever you choose to presuppose, Superman IS the average man without the excuse that "one man can never change anything", that's why his values SHOULD come forward. This Clark is an arrested development manchild so all the Tumblrinas could put him on rule34.
      This idea of deceit that you're essentially larping at BEING ADULT, and that's why the mask-wearing metaphor exists, is actively toxic. Compltely drenched in this ideology like "second gender" by Sartre and Beauvoir who actually abused people, and now it seeks to attach to men as well. So everyone can be equally a maladjusted nervous wreck who is miserable at their job and always teetering on the edge for putting up a front, instead of GROWING to fill the shoes of a real adult.
      You can't take a year ring off a tree, and "let" it be young at the end of a work day. Same is true with humans, it would kill the tree adn it would kill a human being. The whole point of Superman is ahving that in COMMON with biologial humans, real, spiritual humainty. This show is clearly written by people who have their projected talking points about "the patriarchy doesn't validate OUR humanity".
