  • Welcome to our video on the biggest and most impressive artillery pieces in history! In this video, we will be taking a look at Little David, Tsar Cannon, Paris Gun, Schwerer-Gustav, and Project Babylon - five of the largest and most powerful guns ever made.
Starting off with Little David, this massive artillery piece was developed by the US Army during World War II as a weapon capable of annihilating heavily fortified defenses. It was a two-piece mobile unit consisting of an 80,000-pound barrel and a 93,000-pound base, and could fire 3,650-pound shells through a 22-foot muzzle at a distance of 6 miles.
Next up is the Tsar Cannon, a massive bronze gun cast in 1586 that weighs 40 tons and has a 35-inch bore. It was capable of firing approximately 1,800 pounds of stone grapeshot, earning it the nickname "Russian Shotgun." Napoleon even tried to take it back to France when he captured Moscow in 1812.
The Paris Gun is a German long-range siege gun that was used to bombard Paris during World War I. It was 111.5 feet long and could fire a 234-pound shell at a range of 81 miles. It was crewed by 80 people, and its projectile was the first human-made object to reach the stratosphere.
Schwerer-Gustav was built in the 1930s to attack France's Maginot Line on Germany's western border. It was 155 feet long and weighed 1,350 tons, and had a range of about 25 miles with a 15,700-pound artillery shell. It had a 106-foot-long barrel and was crewed by 250 people. It is also the largest caliber gun with a rifled barrel in history.
Last but not least is Project Babylon, a massive artillery piece built by Saddam Hussein in the late 1980s. It was intended to be a new version of the Paris Gun, but with a longer range and more powerful projectile. However, it was never completed due to the Gulf War.
These are just a few examples of the giant artillery pieces that have been developed throughout history. From the world's first artillery pieces to modern superguns, these guns have left their mark on the world and demonstrate the incredible destructive power that humans are capable of creating.
