From the first time I watched it, I thought that the biggest symbolism was TaeHyung and the statue being connected, and I am always confused by people who react to BS&T to the first time and don’t make that connection.
@@1obsessionafteranother794 happens. I've watched the webtoon, read all the notes, watched all videos in BU, watched explanation videos and still didn't know till this video that the moment when Tae was with a cloth was showing him becoming the statue, I just didn't think about the drapery used on statues and was confused why exactly the cloth was used ;)
@@RasaAkstiniene I don’t know about “becoming a statue” but the way it cuts between Tae and the statue suggests that they’re connected when you take into account the scars on his back and the black wings which suggests evil/fallen angel. Anyway, it’s interesting what each of us sees or doesn’t see, and i suppose it has a lot to do with the our own background knowledge etc.. personally I haven’t watched every single thing and I can’t string everything in the BU together, I leave that to theorist ARMYs 😂
When Jungkook is hanging suspended in the air, the 'particles' moving around him are actually feathers, and the painting behind him is the Lament for Icarus. =)
RM recently said on a interview: “Life is short, art is forever” Really appreciate your interpretation of art creation. The biblical imagery has always been the strongest for me so it’s quite refreshing to see a favorite from a new angle!
Adding to biblical references: I have always thought that it appeared that V is being freed from a shroud. Without his black wings and retaining his scars he is reborn complete. JMTS all stay well
Blood Sweat and Tears video and song were built and written based on Demian, a novel by Hermann Hesse which won a nobel prize in literature back in 1946. I read this book (because of this Mv) and I'll try my best to interpret and summarize the story here. The story follows a young boy named Sinclair who had a friend named Demian. Demian acts as Sinclair's mentor during his childhood and transition to adulthood. Sinclair as a young adult experienced series of existential crisis, believing he lives in between the world of light (the world of illusion, full of goodness) and "the dark world" (the real world which is full of lust, temptation, anger and evil world). Demian, and later on Sinclair's another mentor Pistorius, believe that in order to become a full person a human needs to embrace both of their light and dark sides. This will then lead Sinclair to find out about Abraxas, the god of light and darkness. There are sooo many imageries and jaw-dropping details on the MV that represent details in the book that I cannot write here because this comment is already an essay. lol. But the point is this song is about temptation, about being a human and embracing both of your good and dark sides. The scene where Jin kissed the statue (which I believe the representation of Abraxas) means he seals the deal with the devil himself in order to fully embrace himself as a person who isn't perfect, full of flaws. The white and black doors represent the world of light and the real world. The phrase that RM read in English here was also taken from the book, page 26 (on the version that I read). It says "He too was a tempter, he too was a link to the second, the evil world with which I no longer have anything to do." "He" here refers to Demian, that Sinclair once thought as a bad influence for him, maybe it's because Sinclair tried to deny his dark sides. The book is heavily influenced by a swiss philosopher and psychiatrist Carl Jung, who was Hermann Hesse's doctor back then. Hesse learned a lot about Jung's psychoanalysis and experienced it himself so that was why Demian was heavily influenced by it. What makes it even more interesting, BTS album MOTS 7 is also based on Carl Jung theory (hence the songs Persona, Shadow, and Ego were born-- these 3 elements are important in Jung's theory Maps of the Soul). BTS are deep, my friends. They literally make a lot of armys become smarter and read on classic literature like this because of them. lol. Please note once again that this is all my own interpretation after reading the book, take it with a grain of salt. Welcome to the BTS Universe!
I was still in confusion why Jin cracked up at the end. From your theory, it seems like he seal the deal to embrace both his good and bad side. So does the crack represents his bad side? It was there but hidden. It surfaced only after he accepted it presence. But then who is Taehyung? Is he the the bad side that was hidden or the devil himself. Omg my brain cell stopped working 😭
I really like and appreciate that you don't just say "wow that's cool" like other reaction channels but actually explains what's happening in the MV and even create your own theory.
@@faithkyzar4369 yeah! I've heard of him and he's pretty cool. He's almost the same as this guy. The funniest part is his dance therapy at the end of his video. BTW, love this video!
blood sweat and tears is based on a book "demian" by hermann hesse and is a really important part of bangtan universe. also i'm pretty sure the moving background was just a white material in real life xD
More of the wings album has a reference to demian. In boy meets evil, you have those references to. BTS will forever be lyrically and artistically deeper than mainstream media will ever credit them for...
@@hanselle8223 I don't understand why you're saying that: Map of the Soul 7 was just released last year, it had tones of meaningful lyrics and theories in it. It may seem like a long time for you but it's really not compared to the frequence other artists release new songs. And BE was released just 7 months ago, the album was all we needed last year given the situation, Dynamite was just part of it but have you just read the lyrics of Blue and grey or Disease? 🤔 If that's not meaningful lyrics I don't know what is.... 🤷♀️ BTS have always made both meaningful lyrics and fun ones with not lighter messages like Fire or DNA so just because Dynamite and Butter are fun songs doesn't mean they don't do the meaningful songs anymore...
@@hanselle8223 Did you read the lyrics of mots7??? You do know that that whole album is based on Jungs map of the soul, a psychologic construct to further understand the human mind. If shadow and persona aren‘t meaningful, then what is???
there are so many things about this. Tae, the one who is shown to have lost his wings, the one you covered Jin's eyes towards the end with a grin, if you rewatch paying attention to him, to me his character comes across different than the others. Its something you don't notice first time through, but after the reveal its like....OH. like JHope spraying the paint or whatever on the artwork of Tae. It singles him out.
@@LoveTheBasics JHope draws an arrow back in his bow, and as he releases it it switches to TaeHyung who is (i think) behind a screen or veil getting splattered with paint. I think it suggests that JHope knows that something is not right with TaeHyung
@@1obsessionafteranother794 I do not think he can understand what you are talking about :) He even doesn't know the names and if later he will dive into the Universe (I don't think so but you never know) - let's better not give him too much spoilers.
@@thisiscrazy777 sorry... the character J-Hope is playing, and the character TaeHyung is playing.... But he’s a filmmaker so I was assuming that he’s smart enough to realise that he’s watching an mv which has a fictional storyline and that the boys are playing characters. Also OP mentioned in their comment “Tae” and in the same sentence referring to him as “his character” so it would follow that since I’m talking about the same thing that I’m also talking about the character he’s playing and not him as himself
Black Swan would be a beautiful follow up for you, it really is a true piece of art and I cried the first few times I watched it. The meaning of the song and the way they convey it in the MV with their choreography is really one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen
@@LoveTheBasics I think she is talking about the Art Film performed by MN Dance Company version, there are 2 version for Black Swan, both are good but the Art Film version is pure art, you might like to watch both.
Before black swan, you need to watch the behind the scenes, video for blood sweat and tears. 😊 The story for this song and video are amazing! Look it up you will really enjoy it..... 😊 😁 😎
actually your theory of how V is being immortalised into a statue is spot on, but for me, that running cloth is like his purity being stripped away from him, and when the cloth was lifted from him entirely, it shows that his wings are cut off so that means he’s not fit to have those wings, means he’s not fit to be an angel anymore.. he’s fallen
The quote that was RM narrated while Jin was letting go of that balloon was from Herman Hesse's book, "Demian". "He too was a tempter; he, too, was a link to the second [world], the evil world with which I no longer wanted to have anything to do." In the book, Sinclair (the mc) recalled his life and give analysis on the choices he made in the past, the reasons why he acted a certain way in his younger years. He recalled his friend and mentor, Demian. The quote is the part where Sinclair was freed from the clutches of Franz Kromer. Franz is a person who had blackmailed him for weeks. One day, Demian asked Sinclair if he wanted to get rid of the bully. Sinclair said yes, and the next time he met Franz, the latter couldn't meet his eye and seemed so scared. Sinclair then realized that Demian must've done something to the boy, something uncanny, and although Demian was the one who freed Sinclair, he didn't wish to be connected to someone as manipulative as him again, hence, the quote. At the end of the book, it was revealed that Demian is actually a part of Sinclair, that he resides in Sinclair's personality. From what I understand, Jin is the mc in the music video. He's like Sinclair. V who represents the statues with black wings is probably the tempter, like Demian. Jin here is a youth struggling about who he is, his dreams, his life. He is always afraid of what choices to make, unable to decide for his own. Those weaknesses is hindering him to fly (referrences JK falling, Icarus painting, etc.), unable to grow. All the other members here are like Jin's personalities, all are struggling to resist temptations and trying to free themselves from captivity. J-Hope here is trying to save them and shooting the tempter with his bow. In the music video, Jin later decided to let go all those doubts (letting go of the balloon) and finally decided to accept himself. When he kissed the statue, it might mean that he finally accepted the devil who resides in him, which is V (his other personality). He finally let go of his inhibitions and accepted that it is okay to make mistakes. By doing so, Jin overcame evil (the statues broke and cried). This might symbolize how good and evil coexist, that one cannot truly exist without the other. There is no light without darkness. It is okay to make mistakes, to have weaknesses, to be scared. This can also be interpreted as "The greatest battle we must win is inside of us." Some news reporters asked the group about the meaning of the song. This is what RM stated, “The harder a temptation is to resist, the more you think about it and vacillate. That uncertainty is part of the process of growing. Blood Sweat & Tears is a song that shows how one thinks, chooses, and grows.”
BTS songs usually tells a story and every individual can look at it a different way. There are a lot of videos in RUclips from people giving their theories or explanations about BTS’ s songs and MV . You have given a different view about this MV so thank you. I’m sure the BTS fandom have already told you that their MV tells a story all together so you should watch them in chronological order to understand the whole story, it is also a good idea to learn about the group first and to know what they represent so you can understand their message and where they’re coming from. Welcome to the BTS rabbit hole. Enjoy the journey.
It's interesting that you were emotionally moved by this even though you aren't all that concerned about the story. That's powerful art to me! I think it'd be cool to see your take on this NV's shooting sketch. Really, I would recommend watching their first major MV called I NEED U (19+ version) because it's essentially a short film, and they were on a much lower budget at the time.
wow, your theory about Tae, the guy covered in silk, was something i had never considered, but its actually spot on. Tae was the one who had lost his wings and they were placed on the statue, which Seokjin, the protagonist, kissed. very interesting observation! i had also never considered this song from an emotional standpoint, but the vacant look at the end paired with the cracking of his face can represent losing a part of yourself or corrupting the essence of your being over a devotion or passion that wholly consumes you. its a powerful interpretation. loved your reaction!!
I've been a fan of BTS since the beginning and not ONCE have I ever heard someone say "it makes so much sense!" immediately after watching blood sweat and tears 😳 I really like your take on what the MV symbolizes. The behind the scenes is quite fun if you do decide to watch it. BTS have stated on multiple occasions that this MV is when they started to have a higher set budget 😊 but even without the money needed to make big productions their older MVs are still incredible with storytelling. They have had a director named Lumpens who has been together with them through thick and thin throughout the years. Very talented 👏
"I don't know what to think anymore. It seems like the things i do are wrong." I can't stop laughing how relatable this is. I've been into art, cinematography and filmmaking so i can totally relate.
they rarely use CG for their MVs. it's mostly location or set made by the staffs. a moment of appreciation for the hardworking and very talented staffs of BigHit.
In the end when jin kissed the statue of the "devil", he made a deal with the devil to trade his life for worldly things, thats why the other boy taehyung has broken wings...he became a human(with his wings cut) and jin slowly becomes a statue..
"I got chills" and "I don't know why that got me emotional at the end" 😭😭 The fact that this song, its lyrics and every single detail on that MV is layered perfectly to symbolize someone's first encounter with Evil and their discovery of their own dark side. And the fact that our bodies just notice those things even when we don't know what exactly is going on (the first time I watched this i was literally blown away)... 😭😭😭 I'm not crying y'all are!
Best commentary I have seen. Who knew that South Korea was so advanced? Everyone behind BTS is incredible ... choreographers, special effects, lighting, sets, costuming, hair and make-up, coaches - the list goes on. Not surprising that everything BTS does is brilliant (RM has an IQ of 148). They write their own songs. Thanks BTS! 😍
the thing about bts is that you have to pay attention to the _details_ to fully grasp the depth of their art the mv is tied to the theme of the temptation, but that's not all the meaning, it's not just the metaphorical story about how we always want bad things. the MV and the whole concept of Wings album and its short films (don't try them yet, you need to be really indepth with BTS Universe to appreciate them fully) - in another words the whole era is based on symbolism connected to the Herman Hesse's book Demian, where the main character (MC) explores his psyche while growing up (spoken lines 12:05 in this MV and short films are quotes from the book). Theme goes along with coexistence of 'dark' and 'light' in our lives. MC was taught to see only the good side of the world, which is wrong, because the world isn't perfect and has bad side too. One can't live fully embracing just the good. You should accept both. The quote from the book that i really like is MC's thoughts: 'Why are only pleasant things attributed to the God if he created the whole universe? Are not both the light and dark sacred?'. The visuals of mv follow this theme: boys grew up and now facing new temptations to overcome or succumb to it thus they are acting defiantly, as if trying to seduce the viewer. There's a lot of pieces in the MV that are full of symbolism: every picture, statue, sound, object • an apple in Jimin's hands 9:20 which means sin both in the religion and the book. Jimin is connected to an apple specifically, but they also all have an apple on their plate in the last supper scene with the painting-ish background 7:02 • green color also plays the role of a bad things like a devil's blood or a poisonous absinthe 4:23 reputed to be a hallucinogen and banned in some countries. Namjoon is connected to the absinthe, his lines are "But your wings are wings of the devil. In front of your Sweet is bitter bitter". behind the sweetness of the drink (absinthe is often drunk with sugar) lies its real essence of bitterness. it symbolises succumbing to temptation and denying the real world in favor of an illusion • a blindfold on Jimin that keeps one from seeing the worlds as it is - then when blindfold is gone you see green tears 13:41 • black and white doors in the opening scene on the sides of the “The Fall of the Rebel Angels” picture that can be representing the inner fight of good and evil 1:43. “The Fall of the Rebel Angels” itself depicts the fall into hell of angels who rebelled against God, they turn into ugly monsters and good angels give them battle. In fact, this is the main idea of the struggle between good and evil, the choice of your side in this battle. there were also sculptures of an angel and a demon on the sides of background in the set for the choreo as you noticed • behind Jungkook's back when he's floating 11:41 is a painting of Icarus. I think everyone is familiar with Greek mythology and is aware that Icarus was presented with wings, but he could not resist the temptation and flew too close to the sun, causing the wax in his wings to melt so he fell. The story echoes the ideas of the song and the title of the album itself: "WINGS". Behind Tae when he jumps from the balcony is "The Fall of Icarus" too 10:11 • a kiss of a fallen angel as an acceptance of a darker side and resolution of the inner chaos. Above the mirror in the MV there's a Nietzsche quote 13:45 (who also has a lot to do with the book's ideology): 'You must have a chaos inside you to give birth to a dancing star'. It's a reference to Nietzsche's ideas about a superman - a creature who, in his power many times surpasses an ordinary person, denies fear and regret, and uncompromisingly follows the chosen path, being the creator of his own destiny. The superman is described in his book "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" and the ideas from there closely connect with "Demian" MC in the book has a few mentors, with help of who he learns life - and you can see that in the beginning of the MV every younger member is paired up with older one + Yoongi playing organ is a direct reference to the one of MC's mentors 12:25. Jin is an observer 1:36 just like the MC in the book. You also can notice that the rest of the boys are divided into 'good' and 'bad': • Namjoon drinking absinthe 3:35 and subverting yet innocent Jungkook into it 6:23, 9:07 • Jimin having an issue with temptation (holding apple) and Yoongi trying to save him from it (closing his eyes with a hand or a blindfold 1:55) • Tae being the fallen angel himself with the scars on his back and Hoseok representing hope and shooting a colourful arrow to him 8:36. I think Hoseok's theme is more prominent in the Japanese version of the mv (it's COMPLETELY different, but be careful, Japanese released can get blocked) I would say that especially from Jimin-Yoongi pairing in this mv you can tell that there's no answer what is right: good or evil. The apple is the sin, but the sin is the part of the world. Neglecting it and being blindfolded prevents you not only from "bad" things but from living a life and being yourself: the blindfold holds Jimin to a closed door and doesn't let him go 12:01 the Nietzsche quote also gives a hint that hiding from bad may actually be worse then the bad itself, because without accepting all sides of self one can't reach their full potential. and BTS has a whole another era talking about exploring one's self So the story is about exploring the world in its good and bad in order to explore your own self and become something greater
I have always been so amazed as to how varied the interpretation can be when seen by individuals of varied professional background. The last part where you said they want to create art with their blood, sweat and tears that's gonna last for centuries just like paintings and sculptures, just brought me one more dimension closer to their message they wanted to convey.😭 Thank you so much.
It symbolized them as angel that broke out from the demon inside them... the duality in them for being succesful. All the bad thoughts depressions insecurities and fear of being famous etc, and They no longer want To be feeling that way ...
You are so humble. I bet you are really skillful and talented as you can easily catch up with their messages. Thank you for appreciating their art and talent. 💜
"With their blood, sweat and tears they going to create artwork that is going to last for centuries" Wow, just wow; this bit hit home really deep, because you just forethought the future . Excellent reaction!
Among all the reaction videos I have seen on BTS' BS&T, I submit that your opinion is most logical - by pouring out their blood, sweat and tears, BTS has become ART itself. They are painting, sculpture, prose, poetry or music, embodying both good and evil, beauty and ugliness, light and shadow in each art piece. Good job! I will now watch more of your videos. :-)
It makes a lot more sense after you know their concept, coming from someone who rewatched their music video after learning it. It truly is a master piece.
I have watched many reactors for this MV and you are the only one who made me realize that V with the piece of cloth running over him symbolizes a statue thingy and others were painting like wow i just love your thoughts! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I really learned alot! I recommend Daechwita and Black Swan! Those MVs look really classy!
Me too 💜 I like when professionals react to them and contribute back to the fandoms (and not just say "Ooooh oh ohhoo yes nice", "I like this", "it a 10 for me" )💜😀
Well it's the Army's fault cuz they end up asking "If you like this reaction sub and help the channel grow" So we probably like the "hype" react 😅 Anyways thanks for your insight on these💜
Since you like cinematography, after the behind the scenes of Blood Sweat and Tears. I think you would love On the Official MV version, the one with V as the thumbnail.
This is the song/MV that made me stan BTS. It never gets old and never will - it’s just so beautiful, elegant, dark, and enigmatic! When I watched this for the first time I was genuinely shook because I had gotten to know each of the member’s goofy and cute personalities, so when I saw this I was wondering if these were actually the same 7 men pulling this off. If you’re curious, my interpretation of the video is based mostly on the symbol of the apple from the Garden of Eden, the German quote on the wall at the end by Nietzsche, the fact that the album “Wings” is known to be about reaching your potential and the temptations that get in the way, and the interconnected storyline of the other BTS MVs (which is centered around 7 boys who experience the struggles of youth/growing up)...
Throughout the MV, we often see an apple, which is most known for being the fruit that kicked Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden. It’s associated with being tempted by evil and committing sin. However, I don’t think a lot of people have realized that the Garden of Eden can be interpreted as a metaphor for childhood. Eden was a paradise - life was happy, carefree, and safe there. But the thing is, Adam and Eve were sheltered from the outside world while in Eden, obeying God like a child would obey a parent. By eating the forbidden fruit, they were not only rebelling against God, but also cementing the idea that they could be independent from God, essentially affirming that they are grown-up. But, the thought of growing up is scary. After all, a child works so hard to be the perfect son or daughter who obeys their parent - so hard that you can say that they put their blood, sweat, and tears into it. Abandoning this innocence and starting to rebel against expectations instead of conforming to them is what growing up is all about, and this is an idea BTS has explored ever since their debut with their school trilogy. Although they are clearly succumbing to the darkness inside of them - being rebellious, giving into temptation, etc. - it is necessary for them to grow up. The quote on the wall at the end translates to “One must have chaos in oneself to give birth to a dancing star.” The chaos is darkness that comes with passion, which one can only obtain with maturity after childhood. A dancing star refers to the person reaching their full potential now that they are to think, feel, act, and create things for themselves with that passion.
I hope this makes sense lol! When I came up with this theory, I was reading a book about creativity for one of my college classes, so this MV automatically came to mind when there was discussion about how rebellion is necessary for creativity.
It’s really interesting watching people comment on different aspects of the video because at the same time I learn things that I didn’t notice immediately until they comment on it. 💜
Oh my god! Your black swan reaction was recommended to me and I usually don’t like reaction channels especially those who react to bts because they just clout chasers, however I’m so glad I clicked on your video. The way you are so attached to the cinematography and feel the story through it, moved me so much, this is now the second video I watch after black swan ( you bet I’m binge watching all your videos), you bring out a new perspective into the mvs I would never thought about (through imagery) and made me appreciate more the imagery not only bts but the director and people behind the scenes worked on; not to mention you seemed like a very genuine and likable person, Definitely a new subscriber here:)
Jimin and Yoongi were sat on the left at the start where the black statue was, RM and Jungkook were on the right with the white statue. Maybe that’s why it shows JK and RM in lighter scenes but JM and YG in darker scenes. Even when sat at the table, JK and RM sat on same side, JM and YG sat on same side. I think Hoseok is the white statue because when they’re all running out, he’s in front guiding them to the exit. Taehyung has to be the black statue because his wings were clipped and the statue Jin kisses has black wings. Jin also touches the left side of the statue’s face and Taehyung turns to the left. Edit: I also noticed that each room always has two doors. One going to the left, and one going to the right but I’m not too sure what they mean.
Jungkook hanging suspended is one of my favorite images, and possibly based on the great Arch of Hysteria , by Louise Bourgeois. Other artistic pieces are too numerous to mention, but start with The Pieta, Perseus with the Head of Medusa and go from there. RM'S green beverage is Absinthe, commonly known as the Green Fairy for its hallucinogenic qualities. The list goes on with literary, philosophical, biblical, and psychological refrences. Watch it a few times, this is the deep end of the pool lol. Stay well
@@Sonnenanbeterin1991 I have used this MV as the subject of a unit study in Unified Arts, and my students enjoyed it immensley. The lyrics, art pieces, cultural refrences, literary, Jumgian psychology , color and design, classical music etc. Gave my students a lot to chew on. Every student was able to find something meaningful to explore. BTS opens minds to exploration. I've also used Black Swan for similar purpose with excellent outcomes. Stay well
Used this MV in a creative writing class in 2016 because of its imagery, depth and artistry. I did not even know about the BU lol. All I knew about them back then is that I liked their 2014 or was it 2013 songs. And my sister is an army right from the start so yeah, I hear their sings pretty often... I deeply apologize to my learners for not being able to show the entirety of this beautiful peace of art...
Wow, I am blown away by your reaction. First, I was moved by your emotional reaction to this. Shows you were really involved and touched by the video, and not just looking for the technical intricacies, but being drawn in and moved by it. Secondly, all the years I have been an ARMY, and the THOUSANDS of reactions I have watched, I have never heard anyone explain the view you got from this ! I can really see how you got that, them becoming art that will be there through the generations ! Mad respect for bringing us new eyes on this mv !💜💜💜
Him as a Filmmaker reacting to the details of the video: it´s all so pretty! Me studying optometry watching him react to the MV: I like his glasses. Where are they from? He has myopia, right? Let me look at the reflexes... does he have a blue light filter? Doesn´t really look like it... Would it be easy to measure his corneal radii? (but also me as an ARMY reacting to him saying "it´s all so pretty!" I´m like "RIGHT?!?! :D "
During a press conference RM explained the meaning of this song as "The harder a temptation is to resist, the more you think about it and vacillate. That uncertainty is part of the process of growing. 'Blood Sweat & Tears' is a song that shows how one thinks, chooses, and grows."..... And I loved the way you explained everything about the cinematography ... (Sending lots purple hearts for you 💜)
I think many of their MV's are works of art. Yes, they display their song and dance, but whoever does these is doing something beyond that. Something like this will be studied and admired for years to come.
The fact that you, as one person, can watch this video one time ONE TIME and figure out a whole theory and make it make sense, and all of army can't says something, you're very talented💜
Fun fact: The white flower at the end (called Smeraldo) is also in the Fake Love MV. It was inside the lantern in the explosion scene. BTS MV's almost always have connection
Discovered BTS in 2014 and out of all the reactions I have seen on this classic, this is one of the best reaction to BS&T (which is one of my favorite songs!) Love this and yes, I subscribed!💜
The set with the glass floor and ceiling is inspired by a set from the chatroom (a thriller/drama movie released in 2010) And if u watch the mv with the playback speed of 0.5x, u can see at 3:13 that in the transition between the 2 floors, on the transition floor/ceiling (the divide between the top and bottom room) there’s a writing which says something like “chatroom 2, 3, 4” And the chatroom (as in the movie) also contributes to the storyline in the mv. It’s all so fascinating
U know, i felt just like u at the end. I felt like my heart was getting broken into pieces... But the way u explained and reacted the whole video, was so amazing💜💜💜can you do life goes on too? I literally cried when i Watched that video. (It was about covid-19 and lockdown)
I have been trying to understand this song for a long time now and it was heartbreaking for me because no matter how much I watch it I could never understand it and I felt like I was not appreciating their hard work and effort but thanks to you I now understand it.Thank you very much
This MV is the epitome of details seriously omg. Every painting and every statues in the museum has a meaning. It has references to Demian, Icarus, angel and demon, biblical references, etc. It brings in historians, psychologists, and art students to react. I've seen art curator's explanation and my mind was just blown
Honestly I've been an ARMY for two years now and this was one of their first music videos I watched and to this day, even after multiple explanation videos, I still don't know the exact meaning behind everything and still find something new and connect more dots everytime I watch it. This is one of the many reasons I'm an ARMY, because of their cinematography and attention to detail in every single music video and the meaning behind their music videos and how at the end of the day all of them add up to create this wonderful story. I don't think there is anything like this in the western music industry. This is a one of a kind thing, a BTS thing✨💜
Definitely have to do Spring Day. The song and the MV make me cry so hard and the cinematography won it many awards. It's about the Sewol Ferry Incident, where a bunch of kids drowned because of the captain's negligence. The song is about missing friends and sorrow and that eventually they will meet again. It gets me every time.
I love that their videos spark so many emotions in people even though you don't know the whole meaning. I mean us ARMY have been decipherig their videos for years now and have a grasp at the full story (so far), but the fact that even if you don't know all of this, you can still feel the emotions and the deeper meaning behind it. Just shows how good their videos are
"They make these pieces of art that could be appreciated for centuries" you said it well, really. The way their art could honestly transcend time is underappreciated sadly.
Agree on Daechwita. I loved this reaction video. Blood, Sweat, & Tears is in my opinion one of the best music videos ever, and I learned things from your commentary. The fabric = statues. The importance of particles to sell the suspension. The comparing them to artwork. I would add: note that in the end, the flower is not the same as its reflection. Something is off between the two worlds, reality v. art. When you do Daechwita, if you have not already, be sure to look up the term. Thank you for your video.
This song and album (wings) come from a book name: Demian by Herman Hesse. Story about temptation, good and bad. And this MV is part of BU - Bangtan universe. Sort of like Marvel world of BTS. Welcome to the rabbit hole of BTS...
New subscriber here! I love how you react to this BTS video. As an audience, you kept me thinking as well while following you. It's probably because of your sincere interest to learn their cinematography style.💜
Watching your videos made me realize that BTS actually has a lot of good music videos with storylines and good cinematography. My favorites are ON, Daechwita, Spring Day, Run, and I Need U. They also have a series of short films for their album Wings, those are really good too.
I'm glad I found your channel. There was another filmmaker on here that reacted to kpop videos that I liked.. but then he stopped talking abt the filmmaking aspect of these videos entirely which was the reason why I got into him in the first place. I finally feel like I'm learning something again thank god
I remenber watching this for the 1st time... I cried how beautiful it was. They re-invented aesthetics for the kpop industry MVs. And ur take on it! Was really beautiful!
I love it when people don't just react with facial expressions to BTS and their MVs but analyze them more deeply, especially those related to the BU. Because they put so much thought and hard work into their contents. That's why I choose which ones to watch. And yours is just one of the few which are very insightful. They have been putting out contents for the armys to think about and theorize since 2015 so we're so used to digging way deep into every content relating to the BU which btw are all scattered on MVs, webtoons, The Notes (which are like diary entries of the characters) and even in the concert VCRs. And I'm amazed you got some parts right the first time. Thank you
My all time favourite BTS art. Because it is art. They made the perfect song with very unique meaning, they made a perfect coreography for the song. And they made a pheomenal perfect music video for the song. Thank you for your reaction. It was nice to hear your opinion and view about cinematograhy of the mv.
you’re right every time i watch this i end up in my feelings at the same parts. like it’s so beautiful and this entire song will always be my favorite. it’s genuinely so beautiful
Would love to see what you think about the Wings Short films, there are 7 of them for each member. The short films are an introduction to BTS’ Wings album which Blood, Sweat, and Tears is the title track of. Spring Day would also be a great MV to watch. The song itself is about missing someone, but the MV has references to some literature and movies like The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas and Snowpiercer. It’s also a subtle tribute to the survivors and those lost in the Sewol Ferry tragedy in South Korea.
I think if you add your insight regarding the cloth as a statue unveiling/coming to life with all the other theory/explain videos regarding BS&T, you get a super cohesive theory that is rational and sensible. This was a GREAT reaction! Kudos to you for understanding the gist of the video so quickly!!!
The fact you caught onto Taehyung(V) being the statue/ it representing him so fast was amazing 🤣
Haha thank you!! It’s just a testament to how good their visuals are!!
Yeahhj, I thought so too. He's good
From the first time I watched it, I thought that the biggest symbolism was TaeHyung and the statue being connected, and I am always confused by people who react to BS&T to the first time and don’t make that connection.

RM recently said on a interview: “Life is short, art is forever”
Really appreciate your interpretation of art creation. The biblical imagery has always been the strongest for me so it’s quite refreshing to see a favorite from a new angle!
Same tho the biblical is also one of the strongest for me
Adding to biblical references: I have always thought that it appeared that V is being freed from a shroud. Without his black wings and retaining his scars he is reborn complete. JMTS all stay well
Reminds me of the kyrics of Path!
It’s origin is latin the phrase is ars longa, vita brevis.
Welcome to the BTS Universe!
wow.i fully appreciate this. i'l try to get the time to read the book too. love these classic novels.
Wow that’s a great summarization/explaination. I had no idea bout the connection between Hesse and Jung though, super interesting.
@@AiHeartYou I was surprised when I found out about it, too!
Wow Tysm for your detailed comment. I love learning more about the mythology behind bts videos and work.
I really like and appreciate that you don't just say "wow that's cool" like other reaction channels but actually explains what's happening in the MV and even create your own theory.

Yep, and the passage when RM is talking is actually a quote from that book.
More of the wings album has a reference to demian. In boy meets evil, you have those references to. BTS will forever be lyrically and artistically deeper than mainstream media will ever credit them for...
Kinda wish they would go back to making those kind of music, the more meaningful ones.🙁 Wings era is their best era.
BTS have always made both meaningful lyrics and fun ones with not lighter messages like Fire or DNA so just because Dynamite and Butter are fun songs doesn't mean they don't do the meaningful songs anymore...
Ohhhhhhhh
@@LoveTheBasics JHope draws an arrow back in his bow, and as he releases it it switches to TaeHyung who is (i think) behind a screen or veil getting splattered with paint. I think it suggests that JHope knows that something is not right with TaeHyung

But he’s a filmmaker so I was assuming that he’s smart enough to realise that he’s watching an mv which has a fictional storyline and that the boys are playing characters. Also OP mentioned in their comment “Tae” and in the same sentence referring to him as “his character” so it would follow that since I’m talking about the same thing that I’m also talking about the character he’s playing and not him as himself

black swan "art" +1
"He too was a tempter; he, too, was a link to the second [world],
the evil world with which I no longer wanted to have anything to do."
In the book, Sinclair (the mc) recalled his life and give analysis on the choices he made in the past, the reasons why he acted a certain way in his younger years.
This can also be interpreted as "The greatest battle we must win is inside of us."
Some news reporters asked the group about the meaning of the song. This is what RM stated, “The harder a temptation is to resist, the more you think about it and vacillate. That uncertainty is part of the process of growing. Blood Sweat & Tears is a song that shows how one thinks, chooses, and grows.”
I can literally see your mind getting blown bit by bit as you progress thru the video 😆
Haha I know lol

You have given a different view about this MV so thank you. I’m sure the BTS fandom have already told you that their MV tells a story all together so you should watch them in chronological order to understand the whole story, it is also a good idea to learn about the group first and to know what they represent so you can understand their message and where they’re coming from.
Thanks for your support and comments on my RUclips videos I appreciate for yur good support, how long have you been support our bts family?
wow, your theory about Tae, the guy covered in silk, was something i had never considered, but its actually spot on.
Wow you are good guessing, there are really a storytelling behind this MV, a mind blowing story
Thank you! It’s a good story from what I can tell lol

You Are Right! RM HAS TALKED VERY SERIOUSLY ABOUT HIS ART AS COMPARED TO ART IN MUSEUMS AND THE LONGEVITY OF HIS WORK.
Greetings fan?
All BTS MV are just chef's kiss. In Lumpens we trust
I've been a fan of BTS since the beginning and not ONCE have I ever heard someone say "it makes so much sense!" immediately after watching blood sweat and tears 😳
I really like your take on what the MV symbolizes.
It seems like the things i do are wrong."
I can't stop laughing how relatable this is. I've been into art, cinematography and filmmaking so i can totally relate.
This may be the best first reaction to Blood Sweat & Tears ever! I hope you’ll do more bTS bc your mind will continually be BLOWN!!

they rarely use CG for their MVs. it's mostly location or set made by the staffs. a moment of appreciation for the hardworking and very talented staffs of BigHit.
In the end when jin kissed the statue of the "devil", he made a deal with the devil to trade his life for worldly things, thats why the other boy taehyung has broken wings...he became a human(with his wings cut) and jin slowly becomes a statue..
"I got chills" and "I don't know why that got me emotional at the end" 😭😭
The fact that this song, its lyrics and every single detail on that MV is layered perfectly to symbolize someone's first encounter with Evil and their discovery of their own dark side.
Thanks BTS! 😍
the thing about bts is that you have to pay attention to the _details_ to fully grasp the depth of their art
the mv is tied to the theme of the temptation, but that's not all the meaning, it's not just the metaphorical story about how we always want bad things. the MV and the whole concept of Wings album and its short films (don't try them yet, you need to be really indepth with BTS Universe to appreciate them fully) - in another words the whole era is based on symbolism connected to the Herman Hesse's book Demian, where the main character (MC) explores his psyche while growing up (spoken lines 12:05 in this MV and short films are quotes from the book).
There's a lot of pieces in the MV that are full of symbolism: every picture, statue, sound, object
• an apple in Jimin's hands 9:20 which means sin both in the religion and the book. Jimin is connected to an apple specifically, but they also all have an apple on their plate in the last supper scene with the painting-ish background 7:02
• green color also plays the role of a bad things like a devil's blood or a poisonous absinthe 4:23 reputed to be a hallucinogen and banned in some countries. Namjoon is connected to the absinthe, his lines are "But your wings are wings of the devil. In front of your Sweet is bitter bitter". behind the sweetness of the drink (absinthe is often drunk with sugar) lies its real essence of bitterness. it symbolises succumbing to temptation and denying the real world in favor of an illusion
• a blindfold on Jimin that keeps one from seeing the worlds as it is - then when blindfold is gone you see green tears 13:41
• black and white doors in the opening scene on the sides of the “The Fall of the Rebel Angels” picture that can be representing the inner fight of good and evil 1:43. “The Fall of the Rebel Angels” itself depicts the fall into hell of angels who rebelled against God, they turn into ugly monsters and good angels give them battle. In fact, this is the main idea of the struggle between good and evil, the choice of your side in this battle. there were also sculptures of an angel and a demon on the sides of background in the set for the choreo as you noticed
• behind Jungkook's back when he's floating 11:41 is a painting of Icarus. I think everyone is familiar with Greek mythology and is aware that Icarus was presented with wings, but he could not resist the temptation and flew too close to the sun, causing the wax in his wings to melt so he fell. The story echoes the ideas of the song and the title of the album itself: "WINGS". Behind Tae when he jumps from the balcony is "The Fall of Icarus" too 10:11
• a kiss of a fallen angel as an acceptance of a darker side and resolution of the inner chaos. The superman is described in his book "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" and the ideas from there closely connect with "Demian"
MC in the book has a few mentors, with help of who he learns life - and you can see that in the beginning of the MV every younger member is paired up with older one + Yoongi playing organ is a direct reference to the one of MC's mentors 12:25. Jin is an observer 1:36 just like the MC in the book. You also can notice that the rest of the boys are divided into 'good' and 'bad':
• Namjoon drinking absinthe 3:35 and subverting yet innocent Jungkook into it 6:23, 9:07
• Jimin having an issue with temptation (holding apple) and Yoongi trying to save him from it (closing his eyes with a hand or a blindfold 1:55)
• Tae being the fallen angel himself with the scars on his back and Hoseok representing hope and shooting a colourful arrow to him 8:36. I think Hoseok's theme is more prominent in the Japanese version of the mv (it's COMPLETELY different, but be careful, Japanese released can get blocked)
I would say that especially from Jimin-Yoongi pairing in this mv you can tell that there's no answer what is right: good or evil. The apple is the sin, but the sin is the part of the world. Neglecting it and being blindfolded prevents you not only from "bad" things but from living a life and being yourself: the blindfold holds Jimin to a closed door and doesn't let him go 12:01
the Nietzsche quote also gives a hint that hiding from bad may actually be worse then the bad itself, because without accepting all sides of self one can't reach their full potential. and BTS has a whole another era talking about exploring one's self
So the story is about exploring the world in its good and bad in order to explore your own self and become something greater
I love how you get emotional at the end! Greetings from Tricity in Poland!

The last part where you said they want to create art with their blood, sweat and tears that's gonna last for centuries just like paintings and sculptures, just brought me one more dimension closer to their message they wanted to convey.😭
Thank you so much.
It symbolized them as angel that broke out from the demon inside them... the duality in them for being succesful. All the bad thoughts depressions insecurities and fear of being famous etc, and They no longer want To be feeling that way ...
your perception of this video is so artistically well said.
You are so humble. I bet you are really skillful and talented as you can easily catch up with their messages. Thank you for appreciating their art and talent. 💜
Thank you for watching!!
Blood, sweat and Tears made me into an ARMY

I like when professionals react to them and contribute back to the fandoms (and not just say "Ooooh oh ohhoo yes nice", "I like this", "it a 10 for me" )💜😀
Well it's the Army's fault cuz they end up asking "If you like this reaction sub and help the channel grow"
So we probably like the "hype" react 😅
Anyways thanks for your insight on these💜
Since you like cinematography, after the behind the scenes of Blood Sweat and Tears. I think you would love On the Official MV version, the one with V as the thumbnail.
he still does not know who is V 😅
@@Maria.art_and_soul Yeah but he does know that will be a thumbnail with a member on it lol. That’s why I commented that.
WOW I just want to say WOW, like having a profesional point of view of the video make me appreaciate it even more than before, this is amazing.

Greetings fan, how are you i hope your dy is moving great.thanks for your great support's on my musical career?
Stay well
Iam still not getting all aspects
Black Swan next? Idk the Wings Short Films and Prologue are very tempting to have him react to too.
Yes the wings short films would be amazing
it would be amazing and hella confusing. But hopefully yeah
Love hearing new takes on bts' music videos!! Awesome reaction
I really like your interpretation! It's art and so you can interpret it in different ways and I think that's a really valid one!
Discovered BTS in 2014 and out of all the reactions I have seen on this classic, this is one of the best reaction to BS&T (which is one of my favorite songs!) Love this and yes, I subscribed!💜
I love and appreciate your input and effort to pay attention to everything in the video. I’m happy they shocked you and maybe hooked you lol 💜
The set with the glass floor and ceiling is inspired by a set from the chatroom (a thriller/drama movie released in 2010)
And if u watch the mv with the playback speed of 0.5x, u can see at 3:13 that in the transition between the 2 floors, on the transition floor/ceiling (the divide between the top and bottom room) there’s a writing which says something like “chatroom 2, 3, 4”
And the chatroom (as in the movie) also contributes to the storyline in the mv. It’s all so fascinating
For me the "it seems to me that everything i know seems wrong" it shocks me also 💜💜
U know, i felt just like u at the end. I felt like my heart was getting broken into pieces...
But the way u explained and reacted the whole video, was so amazing💜💜💜can you do life goes on too? I literally cried when i Watched that video. (It was about covid-19 and lockdown)
I have been trying to understand this song for a long time now and it was heartbreaking for me because no matter how much I watch it I could never understand it and I felt like I was not appreciating their hard work and effort but thanks to you I now understand it.Thank you very much
Ahh I really miss bts old songs😭💔💔they were so special and meaningful
This MV is the epitome of details seriously omg. Every painting and every statues in the museum has a meaning. It has references to Demian, Icarus, angel and demon, biblical references, etc.
It brings in historians, psychologists, and art students to react. I've seen art curator's explanation and my mind was just blown
Ahaha we got chills at the exact same time when they unveiled Taehyung
Honestly I've been an ARMY for two years now and this was one of their first music videos I watched and to this day, even after multiple explanation videos, I still don't know the exact meaning behind everything and still find something new and connect more dots everytime I watch it. This is one of the many reasons I'm an ARMY, because of their cinematography and attention to detail in every single music video and the meaning behind their music videos and how at the end of the day all of them add up to create this wonderful story. I don't think there is anything like this in the western music industry. This is a one of a kind thing, a BTS thing✨💜
So much meaning behind this mv. Truly astounding to see how much effort and consideration they put into it!
"I think the cloth is a reference to the statues."
And I'm over here like "Not bad, mate. Not bad."
First time watching. I loved your take on this
Thank you!
You made me notice 100 things I would not have.
And I appreciate it! 💯
Love BTS, and this was a great reaction.
5:39 "There's like duality right there."
On-screen V: Yup, that's right.
Greetings fan, how are you i hope your dy is moving great.thanks for your great support's on my musical career?
This song and album (wings) come from a book name: Demian by Herman Hesse. Story about temptation, good and bad. And this MV is part of BU - Bangtan universe. Sort of like Marvel world of BTS. Welcome to the rabbit hole of BTS...
Greetings fan?
New subscriber here! I love how you react to this BTS video. As an audience, you kept me thinking as well while following you. It's probably because of your sincere interest to learn their cinematography style.💜
Best video ever, damn, so good. The chills are 'cause it's so damn good!
I felt just like you. I cried but didn’t even know.
Watching your videos made me realize that BTS actually has a lot of good music videos with storylines and good cinematography. My favorites are ON, Daechwita, Spring Day, Run, and I Need U. They also have a series of short films for their album Wings, those are really good too.
I’ve watched a million of these reaction videos, and I just absolutely love yours! You’re the real deal, and it shows. Thank you!!!
"With their Blood, Sweat, and Tears, they're going to create artwork that will last for centuries" 👀👀👀
I'm glad I found your channel. There was another filmmaker on here that reacted to kpop videos that I liked.. but then he stopped talking abt the filmmaking aspect of these videos entirely which was the reason why I got into him in the first place. I finally feel like I'm learning something again thank god
Great reaction... waiting for ur take on the behind the scenes of this one lol 😁🤘🏼
I remenber watching this for the 1st time... I cried how beautiful it was. They re-invented aesthetics for the kpop industry MVs. And ur take on it! Was really beautiful!
Spring day and it's MV explanation
I love it when people don't just react with facial expressions to BTS and their MVs but analyze them more deeply, especially those related to the BU. Because they put so much thought and hard work into their contents. That's why I choose which ones to watch. And yours is just one of the few which are very insightful. They have been putting out contents for the armys to think about and theorize since 2015 so we're so used to digging way deep into every content relating to the BU which btw are all scattered on MVs, webtoons, The Notes (which are like diary entries of the characters) and even in the concert VCRs. And I'm amazed you got some parts right the first time. Thank you
YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY REACT TO BTS-BLACKSWAN MV ! It's so flawless and for me, it's on different level
best reaction to this song, earn a new subscriber! this is so detailed yet not boring. I love it
Um SIR I need you to not be so good at this!! Lmao!!🤣
You caught onto Taehyung (V) becoming a statue SO FAST!! That was awesome!
Thank you!!
If you haven't yet, take a look at the mv for Fake Love. I think it will surely impress you.
For the behind the scene video watch a eng sub version because this video is older so they didn’t subtitle their behind the scenes yet
My all time favourite BTS art. Because it is art. They made the perfect song with very unique meaning, they made a perfect coreography for the song. And they made a pheomenal perfect music video for the song. Thank you for your reaction. It was nice to hear your opinion and view about cinematograhy of the mv.
Greetings fan, how are you i hope your dy is moving great.thanks for your great support's on my musical career?
I think you’ll appreciate the cinematography for Not Today
Greetings fan?
After all these years this is one of the most beautiful bts music videos
this dude is making me realize more about m/v’s💀
you’re right every time i watch this i end up in my feelings at the same parts. like it’s so beautiful and this entire song will always be my favorite. it’s genuinely so beautiful
