This is what Filipino music essentially is. A confluence of Hispanic and Asian character. Very beautiful.
No... It to one of the four main types of Filipino traditional music
@@Kitiwake which was heavily influence by Hispanic and Asian cultures
@@Kitiwake you know a littler about your culture
@@Kitiwake so filipinos had guitars? Lmao. learn history dude filipinas was part of Spain for almost 300 years. Filipino language is influenced by spanish. Spain unified Filipines.

Hope we have an institution to preserve our music, dance, writings and many more and reintroduce to our schools as a one of the basic subjects.
No worries. Pinoy globalization is the reason why the preservation of our culture exists. Here in Toronto and other parts of the globe with a big Filipino community see to it that the purpose is being pushed through. Have you heard of FASO? (Filipino American Symphony Orchestra) This org. based in Los Angeles California is promoting the music of the Philippines. There is an Org. in Boston Massachusettes that promotes Philippine Classical and Rondalla music only. These kids are unbelievably great young musicians with great skills.
I love this a true blood BIKOLANOS is the one who appreciates this melody

It is the reason why Philippine is unique in Asia. Philippine music has no similarities in any Asian country. It's music is a fusion of Western and Eastern influences. Very hispanic and Latin in nature.
Sana maibalik pa tong ganitong talent... hoping. Im a fan of this..
to be honest it has a lot of asian influences. the scales used are very asian, but that's what makes it unique.
not quite cuz the scale used is mostly pentatonic which is common in asian music and rarely in western music
The tremolo isn’t very European either, at least not from Spain. It resembles a koto or other similar instruments
I disagree. It still has some Asian in it
I'm a bicolano and honored by this amazing piece
I was born in Daet
My father use to sing this sarung banggi
I'm only in my 30's Australian born Filipino, but this music transports me somewhere that I cannot explain. My lola used to play this music to us as children, but for some reason I feel like there's a much deeper connection. Thank you for keeping this music alive!
So glad you are re-discovering your Filipino roots through this kind of music.
Bel Moreno maraming maraming salamat po! Kung meron kayong kilala na nagtuturo ng ganito dito sa Melbourne Australia po, if you could let me know as I am willing to carry that torch for my generation, perhaps to pass on to my children's children if I am given the honour to!
Hi, I do admire your desire and willingness to carry the legacy, but unfortunately, I don't know anyone in your beautiful place of Melbourne. I've never been there. If only you are on this side of the earth (Toronto) I will happily teach you in any way I can just to promote this amazing part of our culture. The Filipino music.
I'm a 24 year old filipino who longs for music like this. You rarely find places that plays music like this (you really have to find them lol). Most of the music here was replaced by tasteless pop music and kpop songs.
This is what a filipino song would sound like.
Thanks. Please have time to subscribe so that I'll a reason to create more music like this.
lmao. people these days...😪
Me 15
Sadly. There's a lack of appreciation for our own indigenous and also hispanic influenced music, better yet a fusion of the two music genres, which clearly has more cultural representation. There's also a lack of musical risk taking in the mainstream which only cathers pop ballads and kpop, dry music without representation.
Fortunately, we have filipinos willing to make, innovate, create, and soon record music that represents us. It's a risk worth taking to leave impressions on those interested.
Mayron akong guitarang maliit nung late 80's gusto kong matuto nyan.
Watching from Europe.
Agimat Dignum ... Pareho tayo ng kranasan... Ginusto ko Rin dati mag join kya Lang kapos tlaga.. it's one of my frustrations....
I feel so proud and elated to listen to our Filipino Canadian brothers and sisters on preserving not just beautiful Philippine music but the the string orchestra of the RONDALLA of guitars and bandurias. BRAVO !!!
Nakakamiss ang ganitong tugtog.
An immortal piece from the land of the Oragons ... Bicolandia, Philippines.
The blending of different instruments is the best. There are lower tunes, there are higher tunes and the mix of tune in between lines are excellent. The summation of all the instrument sounds are due to the expertise of this group. I'll give you a million applause!!! You are the best!!!. LEO FLORENDO, composer, songwriter, singer and.musician.

It's really great seeing groups of people playing songs like this. And it brings me some nostalgic memories when I listen to Sarung banggi since I grow up hearing this kind of song. My mom is a bicolana.
Hearing this feels like I'm living in 1900's.

SARUNG BANGGI
Nora Aunor (Version) 😍
Sarung banggi sa higdaan
Nakadangog ako nin huni nin sarong gamgam
Sa luba ko katurogan
Bako kundi simong boses iyo palan
Dagos ako bangon si sakuyang mata iminuklat
Kaidtong kadikluman ako nangalagkalag
Si sakong paghiling pasiring sa itaas
Simong lawog nahiling ko maliwanag
Isang gabing maliwanag

Beautiful!! I love listening to Filipino Folk Songs.
Reminishing the time when we represented the bicol region year 1986 (rondalla). Our conductor mr jose napay of old albay, legaspi city sponsored by MSWD. We placed 2nr overall champion. Of 20 members no one knows about laod, banduria to play. Were all guitarist. But then we had learned a lot to play tgose string instrumentS.
I remember my old days playing bass as rondalla member of Prenza Marilao we won the National Rondalla contest during the 70s.
