When I was like 14 my boyfriend was goth and super "edgy". He split his own tongue (and almost died of blood loss!). It's very, VERY weird to kiss someone with a split tongue...it's almost like it becomes way too autonomous and has a life of its own. Wouldn't necessarily recommend, but I am glad I'm able to say I've experienced it.

But, it turns out there was absolutely no need to concentrate lol; I immediately tasted the two different flavors. They were distinctly separate flavors, independent of each other. The flavors didn't mix until I brought my tongues back into my mouth, chewed and swallowed. I could be wrong, but I think we have most of our taste receptors on our tongues, but we also have them in other places inside our mouths (like the roof of the mouth and the throat). If that's the case, then it makes sense that it only really worked while the tongue was outside the mouth. So it doesn't seem to be an ability reserved only for those who split their tongues. I'm sure there are other reasons why people choose to have their tongues split, and not just to taste things separately. At least, I hope that's not the reason, because... yikes lol!!
