It's very, VERY weird to kiss someone with a split tongue...it's almost like it becomes way too autonomous and has a life of its own. Yeah lol, I couldn't understand what the split tongue had to do with it either! I'm not a MD or anything, but I kept thinking you shouldn't even need to split your tongue to do this. Granted, you'd have a hard time dipping both sides of your tongue into two separate cups at the same time lol, but still! I mean, the taste receptors are on the surface of the tongue, right? I put a small piece of chocolate on one side of my tongue and a small piece of a Dorito on the other side, keeping the tongue outside of my mouth. I wanted to be as objective and non-biased as possible and really concentrate on trying to taste the difference. But, it turns out there was absolutely no need to concentrate lol; I immediately tasted the two different flavors. They were distinctly separate flavors, independent of each other. The flavors didn't mix until I brought my tongues back into my mouth, chewed and swallowed. I could be wrong, but I think we have most of our taste receptors on our tongues, but we also have them in other places inside our mouths (like the roof of the mouth and the throat). If that's the case, then it makes sense that it only really worked while the tongue was outside the mouth. So it doesn't seem to be an ability reserved only for those who split their tongues. I'm sure there are other reasons why people choose to have their tongues split, and not just to taste things separately. At least, I hope that's not the reason, because... yikes lol!!
